KC Joyner (3:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some football!
BSB (Philly)
I finally made it to a chat!!! I can start two, A Brown, R. Wayne or D. Sproles?
KC Joyner (3:01 PM)
Great to have you back in the chat, BSB! That's a good trio of players. Wayne is the one to sit.
Mike (The Mile High)
Any thoughts on adding a flex chart to your start/sit charts? I'm having a huge dilemma on whether to start Felix Jones or Jeremy Kerley in my flex!
KC Joyner (3:02 PM)
The start grade column on the start-sit charts is designed to serve as a determining factor for flex starts. Since Kerley rates higher on those charts right now, he'd be the pick, although Jones may be the better option if his health improves.
Joe (CO)
Hey KC...would it be crazy to start A Brown & Decker over J Jones this week?
KC Joyner (3:03 PM)
Jones has a tough matchup in Asomugha, so Brown actually does rate higher than him on the start-sit charts because of his highly favorable matchup. Decker rates slightly behind Brown.
chris (dublin)
Would offering Sproles and Nicks for Calvin Johnson be enough to get the job done for me?
KC Joyner (3:04 PM)
It should be given Johnson hasn't been his usual self this year and now may be just a bit slowed by injury.
The Big Show (Its the Big Show)
Answer or I see a chokeslam headed your way in the future. With Jordy likely being a game time decision, do I play it safe w/ D Martin at flex?
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
My kids call him The Big Slow (HT to The Rock). Martin doesn't rate quite as high as Nelson but he has a favorable matchup and doesn't have the injury issue, so this is not a bad move to make.
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
Quick note on the start-sit charts - they are now available for a midseason discounted price at www.thefootballscientist.com. Only site plug of the chat.
Fred Jackson (Philip Rivers)
Are we worth Peyton Manning in a trade?
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
Nope. Peyton is now a blue rated player and it's going to take more than a green-rated RB and QB to justify the trade.
Adam (Seattle)
Trade Gore for Gronk right now? I have great RB depth and actually bench Gore more often than not at this point (McCoy, Forte, McGahee, Spiller).
KC Joyner (3:08 PM)
As bad as the TE position has been in fantasy football this year, that is a sensible trade. Could give you a big edge down the road.
Tom (NYC)
HI KC...turns out my one win is when you answer my question!! YOU ROCK!!! Im desperate at 1-4-2. 2 Ties!!! Which combo is the safer bet, Ben to Wallace or Rivers to gates??
KC Joyner (3:09 PM)
Talk about putting pressure on a pick! Ben to Wallace, as the Redskins secondary is beyond awful.
Scott (Northglenn, CO)
The Vikings run def is a good matchup for Dougie Martin?
KC Joyner (3:10 PM)
My mistake - there is a green-rated defense under Martin's grade and it drew my eye (trying to toggle too quickly between these picks). The Vikings have a red-rated run D.
Chance (OKC)
Is Ben Tate still worth holding onto?
KC Joyner (3:12 PM)
He just got dropped to a red rating so probably not, but only drop him for a quality prospect.
Showtime (Not Eric Young) (Chicago)
Even without the threat of violence, I'm hoping to get this one answered: How do you value Rashad Jennings this week? Worth a flex play over Nicks in a non-ppr? Also starting Percy and Fitzgerald....Britt and Lloyd on the bench.
KC Joyner (3:12 PM)
Violence is not the answer to getting posted - humor works best.
KC Joyner (3:13 PM)
Like Nicks over Jennings, as it's hard to trust the Jaguars offense right now.
Darren (MN)
TRADE TALK: Would you deal Foster and Britt to get AP and Calvin Johnson, or to get McCoy and D.Thomas? (TD heavy scoring league)
KC Joyner (3:14 PM)
The AP/Megatron route is the way to go. AP is starting to hit his stride and is close to being moved up to a blue rating.
Scott (Boston)
KC - is Jonathan Stewart a top prospect from here? Thanks.
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
He's likely to be the lead back now rather than part of a split carry platoon, but the Panthers run blocking has been so bad that it is hard to qualify him as a top prospect. I still have him with a red rating because of the blocking.
Mike (Monterey)
How dumb is it to start Vick, Maclin, DJax, McCoy, Celek, plus their kick and def.....?
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
Depends on what other options there are. One question - how did you end up with players from one team in the first place?
GolfGrouch (Venice, CA)
Where do you rank Fitzgerald for the rest of the season. Trying to determine trade value...Thanks!
KC Joyner (3:16 PM)
He's got five yellow, two red and two green matchups the rest of the season, so the schedule is not too daunting. Got him with a green rating and don't see that moving up.
Abdullah the Butcher (Some rib joint)
Britt, Mendy, Dwyer or Hardesty at Flex. (Yuck, I know. Very deep league and was very hungover when I drafted...)
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
Yuck, indeed. Dwyer is probably the best pick, as he could see more PT due to the Pittsburgh RB injuries.
Devin Brooks (Detroit)
post your question or comment, Please Answer OK, you never never answer me.. I want your thoughts or opinion OK.. KCI have two Trades.. one: I traded Steven Jackson, Sanchez, and Jimmy Graham for J.Charles, Michael Bush, J.Maclin. did I do good..two: Rob Gronk and D.Brown for D.Martin and Des.Jacksonboth in the same league of a two QB league.. I have Rodgers and Schaub.. you can start two TE.. I have Jimmy and Rob.. I only have Forte.. and my WR are Julio Jones, A.Johnson, Nelson.. DO I MAKE THOSE TRADES.. PPPPPLLLLEEEAAASSSE GIVE ME SOME LOOOOOVVVEEE
KC Joyner (3:19 PM)
Quick note - very long questions like this take forever to review and are thus very unlikely to get posted. Devin, shoot me an email with this and I'll go over it.
Last Try. Desperation is not funny (Kansas City)
Dynasty league. Have AP and Forte at RB. Britt, Bryant, Jennings, VJax, DJax at WR. Owner offered Bush and some picks for Bryant. Thoughts?
KC Joyner (3:20 PM)
Bryant is going to be a hit-miss WR for the foreseeable future. As long as the picks are solid, make the trade.
John (Syracuse)
KC - Seeing how my PPR start/sit question is never going to get answered let me ask it like this, how much different do your rankings get when its a PPR?
KC Joyner (3:20 PM)
Generally speaking, the PPR picks are pretty close to the standard picks. They tend to get changed only when a player is really poor or really strong in PPR.
Mike (Michigan)
What is wrong with the Lions this year? Lack of a running game?
KC Joyner (3:21 PM)
That will be a subject in tomorrow's Blindsided podcast. I'll post it on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS once it has been recorded.
Nikita Koloff (The Russian Sickle looms) (C-town)
Bowe or Leshoure @ Flex...
KC Joyner (3:22 PM)
That best of 7 between Koloff and Magnum TA was a great series. Bowe over Leshoure but not by much.
Jordy Nelson's Good Hamstring (Indiana)
If Jordy Nelson doesn't play because of his hamstring, James Jones would move up in the rankings. We he move up high enough start him over either Bryant and/or Nicks?
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
Jones actually already rates over those two regardless of if Nelson plays.
BSB (Philly)
Give me the Andersons, Tully Blanchard and the Nature Boy any day of the week.
KC Joyner (3:25 PM)
Can't beat The Four Horsemen! But don't forget JJ Dillon.
Kurt (Spokane WA)
Better roster stash ROS Andre Brown or Vick Ballard??????
KC Joyner (3:25 PM)
Good question. Brown has shown more upside burst, so he'd be the pick.
Bill (KC)
With the news of a power scheme in Carolina, would you trade away Torrey Smith to get Jon Stewart? PPR league.
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Maybe, but let's not forget the Panthers O line is a work in progress. That might be a trade that takes a few weeks to pan out.
Johnny (Miami)
Where do you have Martin and Ridley on your charts for this week?
KC Joyner (3:27 PM)
Got Martin 13th on the RB charts and Ridley 20th.
Kevin (NYC)
Hey KC - According to the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers are shifting from the zone-read package to "more reliance on a power running game." If you had to choose between Stewart, Jones and Dwyer, would this report along with reports that CAR wants Stewart to be the feature back be enough to throw him in the lineup this week?
KC Joyner (3:28 PM)
They are going through personnel changes on the O line and now are going through a scheme change. Generally speaking, that much change should be avoided if possible. Could be wrong but the TFS tendency is to go for higher percentage situations.
Sgt. Slaughter (Cobra Clutch)
My mustache has gotta be top 5 of all time. If Jordy can't wait, what can i expect from Dez Bryant as his replacement?
KC Joyner (3:29 PM)
I always thought Sarge was a better bad guy than good guy but the stache rules whichever side of the card he ended up on. I've got Bryant listed as a near-must start (which is above average), so his chances of quality production are good.
Macho Man (OOOH YEAH!)
What do you think of Mendy ROS? RB2?
KC Joyner (3:30 PM)
Hard to say given his injury. If he's healthy, he's definitely a RB2.
Don (Arizona)
If you can't answer the question KC on Bryant or A Brown, or D Brown or Green Ellis for ROS, where do I find your charts, 4 minutes, squirming in seat because aggressive money league owners.
KC Joyner (3:31 PM)
See earlier in the chat for where to purchase the charts. Quick answer would be Brown & Brown in both cases.
Dog (Junkyard)
Who is the most valuable under the radar RB to target in trades for ROS value?
KC Joyner (3:32 PM)
The angle where he lost his sight because of The Freebirds has to be one of the best in pro wrestling history. Ridley might fit that bill best for under radar ROS player.
Kia Soul Hamster (Shufflin)
So does this mean you'd stay away from trading for Cam right now? What if the price was a WR..like Eric decker?
KC Joyner (3:33 PM)
Lots of factors go into that but a straight up Decker for Cam trade is one to make (meaning Cam is still a good acquisition).
Joe (Iowa City)
EMERGENCY KEEPER LEAGUE QUESTION!! We have to pick our 2013 keepers by this Sunday. $200 budget, I can keep 3: Matthews ($40), Julio ($35), Cruz ($33), D. Martin ($20), or J. Graham ($42)?THANKS SO MUCH!
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
Julio and Cruz lead that list. For third pick, would probably lean on Graham given the dearth of quality tight ends out there.
Mike (Yonkers, NY)
Hey KC, our league doesn't have a distinct TE spot (we have 2 WR/TEs and a Flex) and I own Graham AND Gronk... what would their equivalencies be comparing them to WRs? Low end WR1? High End WR2s? Also, would my optimized lineup be those two and Fitzgerald more times then not, or is Fitzy somebody I should go matchups with against a Miles Austin?
KC Joyner (3:35 PM)
Got Graham and Gronk listed as must starts (albeit with a potential injury risk) and that would make them equal to a mid/low WR 1 this week. For Fitz, try to play the matchups against Austin's matchups.
Daisy (Hazzard)
Mr. Scientist - I'm 0 and 7 but I'm playing out the season as hard as I can. Give me some encouraging words please!
KC Joyner (3:37 PM)
Are you talking classic Daisy Duke or today's Daisy Duke? They both rock, just want to know which one. For words of encouragement, just consider that other owners will actually appreciate battling a team that is actually trying this late in the year. Wins over teams that don't try are quite hollow and they won't forget your efforts.
Princess Bride (DVD Rack)
KC, what do we do with MJD? He wasn't doing so hot before the injury...trade him if you get a decent offer?
KC Joyner (3:38 PM)
Absolutely trade him if you get a decent offer. That Jags offense isn't exactly dominant (and I'm being kind by not insulting them) so his value won't exactly shoot upwards when he returns.
Daisy Duke (Hazzard)
Classic. Always go classic.
KC Joyner (3:38 PM)
One vote for classic.
Mr. Wrestling II (Atlanta, GA)
Hi KC--Quick answer or a Running Knee Lift! Who would you start this week as WR3: BGibson, SMoss, or DHB? Thx!
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
Now that is old school! Trivia - his wife used to make Nature Boy Ric Flair's robes (at $5K a pop). Gibson gets the start because of the favorable matchup.
Bo and Luke (Just out of Roscoe's reach)
Like Daisy, I"m out of it (1-6), but have been working it like I'm in contention. But I'm in a league that allows trading players now for picks next year. Is it uncool to go fire sale on guys like Eli, McCoy, Gronk and stockpile high picks next year?
KC Joyner (3:41 PM)
Hey, if the league rules allow it, it doesn't really matter if it's uncool. Only caveat would be to say you should keep trying to win even if you trade those players away.
Doug (Boston)
Hey KC, your opinion would be much appreciated! Looking at trading MY R. Jennings, H. Miller, D. Richardson, and D. Jackson for HIS D. Sproles and J. Graham. Good move?
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
Good move. Those first four are solid picks but the two in return have much higher upside potential.
wally (saratoga)
oh master of the metrics...just got a trade offer...i get cutler/gore for stafford/bjge...
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
Tough call. Gore is probably the star of that group, so that is the side of the trade to be on.
Christina (LA)
I emptied by bench of some misfits and picked up the last two startable QBs in Sanchez and Hasselbeck (unless you count Brady Quinn) because my opponent has both of his QBs on a bye. I'm being ripped a new one on our message boards. What's wrong with my defensive move?
KC Joyner (3:43 PM)
There is nothing wrong with your defensive move. If the other owner didn't do a better job of planning ahead for the bye, it's on him/her, not you.
Jack ( The Beanstalk)
What is the QB trade value for Gore. Would Peyton be too much.
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
Yeah. Peyton is a blue-rated player right now and there is only one RB at that level (Foster, although CJ & AP could be there soon).
J.B. (PA)
Trying to wrap my head around someone being 1-6 who has Eli, McCoy & Gronk. Must be a small league!
KC Joyner (3:45 PM)
Agreed, although those three haven't had quite the seasons it was thought they could have coming into this year.
JD (Missouri)
I just picked up Amendola yesterday after seeing he was already back to practice. Now I see that Jennings is going to have surgery and will be out a while. Do I roll with Amendola or drop for Cobb?
KC Joyner (3:45 PM)
The preference would be to have Cobb over Amendola.
Paul (NM)
PPR League: Thoughts on Amendola ROS. If I hold him I drop Flacco and risk having to use someone like Palmer week 10 if Flacco gets picked up during RG3's bye.
KC Joyner (3:46 PM)
At this point, Palmer rates higher than Flacco, so that actually could be a plus move.
Mike (Yonkers, NY)
Thoughts on Vick the rest of the way? He can't be any worse than he has been, right? (turnovers aren't negatives in my league)
KC Joyner (3:47 PM)
Well, he could get benched, so things can get worse. The thought here is that they won't get worse, though, and if his turnovers don't hurt your team, his value is even better.
Marc (Malden, MA) [via mobile]
The best group of Horsemen was Flair, Arn, Tully, Barry. Thoughts on Schaub and Weeden ROS?
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
Windham was really good but let's not forget that it was Ole who stormed the cage when the FH turned on Dusty. Ole could rile a crowd up in a way Windham never could. Like Weeden's value as a QB2. Schaub has QB1 potential at times but that run game will keep him down to a QB2 rating most of the time.
David (SF)
[Insert witty wrestling reference here] If you needed a TE, would you send Reggie Bush and Antonio Brown for Jimmy Graham and McGahee?
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
Hey, this chat has had many other references, including a Daisy Duke comment that got only one comment from the chatters. That's a good price to pay to get a quality TE.
Neil (NYC)
WHy dont you have a regular football chat anymore KC?
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
It was an effort to keep Fridays open so I could do some things with the family. Only time of the week we can do that.
Dan (Boston)
So Greg Jennings is opting for surgery...a clear drop or wait and see?
KC Joyner (3:51 PM)
Unless you have an IR pick on the team, a clear drop as long as the drop is being made for someone of solid value.
James (A GIANT Peach)
Maybe you don't like my question or maybe you haven't seen it... I'll try one more time -- Trade Dez for Cobb in a keeper league or is that overpaying?
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
Hey, man, cut me some slack. I do try to get to as many questions as possible but there are just too many to get to them all. With the Jennings injury and the way the Packers offense is playing right now, Cobb is the preferred player.
Daisy Duke (Hazzard)
2005 Daisy for sure, not today's. Just watch that music video again.
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
One vote for 2005 Daisy.
Phineas (Danville)
Drop Greg Jennings and pick up Amendola?
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
Yep.
Tito Santana (A bar in TJ)
Hola amigo! Jones make it through the whole game? Start Tanner anyways?
KC Joyner (3:54 PM)
Jones would be the pick, but it would be a pick made with crossed fingers. Caveat would be if his PT is limited on Friday, then Tanner gets the FFB start.
Mr.Uncreative (somewhere)
Hey James (A Giant Peach), quit complaining. I see your questions answered in every chat each day. Feel lucky, pal, 'cause we ain't so clever with our names.
KC Joyner (3:55 PM)
Just had to let this person vent.
Nick (Raleigh)
Why can't you ask every question people ask you? C'mon man...ha, anyway, would you trade lynch for mcfadden and aaron hernandez? What about if it was mathews or rice instead of lynch?
KC Joyner (3:56 PM)
I know, it's like I don't do anything for this entire hour. Like that first trade of Lynch for DMC/Hernandez.
Daisy Duke ((Hazard))
Daist from the movie with Knoxville def. A. Brown or Cobb in a PPR?
KC Joyner (3:57 PM)
Those two are virtually equal on the TFS WR start-sit charts. Since Brown is a full-time starter and Cobb gets rotated into the offense, Brown gets the edge here.
Ted DiBiase (Rolling in dough)
Who's the biggest beneficiary of Fred Davis injury?
KC Joyner (3:57 PM)
Chris Cooley, as he is once again employed by an NFL team.
Tim (I hate Peaches)
Trying to trade for J-Stew. Offer Maclin or Britt?
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
Tim, you need to go play some Fruit Ninja and slash some peaches to get this out of your system. Offer Britt.
Uncle Jesse (Hazard County)
How much do Cobb/Jones move up if Jordy declared out on Sunday? Would you start either of them ahead of VJax?
KC Joyner (3:59 PM)
V-Jax just got moved up to a blue rating and, as good as Cobb/Jones are, they won't make it up to a blue rating even if Jordy is out. Start Jackson.
Kevin (CT)
Did I miss J-Stew do something? Why all the chatter about him? Trade M.Floyd for McGahee?
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Carolina is going to make him the bell cow and change to a power running scheme. McGahee has three straight green-rated run D matchups coming up, so make that trade.
Stephen (Deployed)
Nicks for Maclin and J. Stew?
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
Nicks for Maclin might be a good deal in and of itself but if Stewart is added to the mix, it's even better.
Rosco P Coltrain (South)
When Playing Defenses do you generally go with the Better Def or better match up? Ari or Mia this week?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
Generally matchup wins. In this case, Arizona rates higher even though they look to have the less favorable matchup.
Mike (San Diego)
So, just to clarify, the order of ratings from best to worst is blue-green-yellow-red, right?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
That's how it works!
jake the snake (the squared circle)
would you start vjax even though he will be covered by winfiled all night? other options are malcolm floyd or leshoure......thanks KC!!!
KC Joyner (4:03 PM)
Winfield is good but blue-rated players are players who always get put in the lineup even when they face strong opponents. It's why that grade is so rare.
"Nature Boy" Ric Flair (My shoes. Cost more. Than your house.)
WOOOOO! KC, please rank these WR in terms of best to worst trade targets: Larry Fitz, Mike Wallace, Torrey Smith, Malcom Floyd. WOOOOOO!
KC Joyner (4:05 PM)
No one like Naitch. Favorite wrestler ever, by far. Quick thoughts on those four would be Wallace, Fitz, Smith and Floyd. WOOOOOO!!!!
Joe (Philly)
Would you rather Brady or Ryan ROS? I'm looking to trade one.
KC Joyner (4:06 PM)
Tough call. Would say Ryan, as the schedule looks a bit more favorable.
never had a q answered, please answer! :) (chicago)
would you trade julio jones away to get Nicks and tony Gonzo? (i have greg olsen at TE and harvin, d moore, austin, and t smith at WR)
KC Joyner (4:09 PM)
Can't think of a better way to close out the chat than this. That is a very good trade to make. Gonna hit the road now. Quick items before then. The TFS material is always posted on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. The start-sit charts are available for a midseason discount at www.thefootballscientist.com. I'll be working the chat during tonight's TNF game, so stop by and say hey if you have a moment. And be sure to check out tomorrow's Blindsided podcast, a link to which will be posted on Twitter. Thanks again for the questions and I hope to see you all here next week!
