KC Joyner (3:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
John (Michigan)
What is going on in KC? Jamaal Charles should be touching the ball at least 20 times or more per game either on the ground or through the air. Why would you not get your most talented player more involved in the offense?
KC Joyner (3:02 PM)
You got me on this one. Charles played well last night when the Chiefs gave him the ball but he still didn't serve as a bell cow. Maybe it's that concern that he has a workload ceiling.
Mario Norwalk,Ca [via mobile]
Whos a better start maclin or d.moore?
KC Joyner (3:04 PM)
Would probably take Moore in that one because of a more favorable matchup.
Tom (Bath)
Auto update is off
KC Joyner (3:04 PM)
Just kicked it back off and on again, so let's hope that resolves the issue.
Dick "The Bruiser" (Indy)
Did you know Dave Letterman named his band in honor of me? Which defense gets the Iron Claw: Miami or Detroit? thnx
KC Joyner (3:05 PM)
I did not know that. Very cool. Detroit would be the pick.
Alex (Gates Mills, OH)
Are you bullish on Steve Smith ROS?
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
Newton is actually playing better than is generally acknowledged, so that's a plus for Smith. Smith also has three highly favorable matchups and only one unfavorable matchup, so that's another plus. Would have to say that makes me slightly bullish on him.
Paul (Tampa)
With the BREAKING NEWS that Sproles had surgery on his broken hand, is this a big bump for P. Thomas ?
KC Joyner (3:08 PM)
It is but I wouldn't go so far as to say Thomas suddenly becomes an RB1. He'll most likely be a flex candidate because of this.
Your Doctor (Florda)
Glad you took my advice and you are feeling better. Now please help me: In a 1 ppr league with longer td bonuses, rank these wrs ros through week 17, Miike Williams, Titus Young, Cecil Shorts, Danny Amendola
KC Joyner (3:10 PM)
I need all the help I can get, as I got hit with the flu on Monday night and spent most of the week out of commission. Quick view says Williams, Young, Amendola and Shorts.
Rick (Irvine)
Jordy going to sit again... Is James Jones a better start than Maclin?
KC Joyner (3:11 PM)
Tough call but I'd start Jones over Maclin simply because the GB offense is firing on more cylinders than the Philly offense.
KC Joyner (3:12 PM)
Quick note on the start-sit charts - I've got the prelim work mostly complete on them and should be finishing them up this evening. Barring any complications, they should be sent out on the overnight.
Antonio (Gates)
Trade help... What do you think of me rest of the schedule, should I buy low, or sell high? If I had someone like Keller on my bench, would I be fine?
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
The fantasy point production levels among tight ends has been brutal this year, so a TE like Keller could be a solid plan but if you can get Gates at a low price, buy now. His schedule is not daunting and he's got more upside than Keller.
Roddy White (hot or not?)
Sometimes I'm hot...sometimes I'm not. Julio and I are the WR version of RBBC, so what's a fantasy owner to do? In a Std. ESPN league, I can start Roddy or sit him in favor of Decker, who seems to be more consistent. Conventional wisdom is to always start your studs, right? Also: what does your crystal ball say about Doug Martin ROS? I'm gonna start him at flex this week instead of Decker and keep Spiller on my bench (just in case Fred Jackson goes down again.)
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
Matchup and grade-wise, Decker and White rank equal on the start-sit charts, so that's a push. Decker gets the call because of that consistency. Still sold on Martin ROS even with the weakening of the TB O line, as the Bucs have a favorable schedule run D-wise.
Justin (TX)
Weeden or Wilson?
KC Joyner (3:20 PM)
Close call but Weeden gets the nod.
Billy (OshVegas)
Dez or Mike Williams(TB) ???
KC Joyner (3:22 PM)
Another tough call but Dez gets the slight edge.
Corona39 (Tampa)
KC we chat and give advice below your chats every week.. I gave BREAKING NEWS 15 mins ago that Sproles having hand surgery today.. does this get me a job with espn ha ha.. does P. thomas now become a high end rb2??
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
Well, Corona, your post was one of maybe 5-10 chatter posts that talked about the Sproles injury, so not sure that qualifies as having broken the news. I'll still put in a good word for you with the higher ups. Thomas probably does qualify as a solid RB2 now.
David (Atlanta)
Sounds crazy but I was offered Luck for Cam. In a "need to win now to make the playoffs" situation, what do you think?
KC Joyner (3:25 PM)
If need to win now means one win in week 9, the move makes sense since the Panthers face that sieve of a Redskins D this week. Outside of it, it's a move probably not worth making.
Trevis (Vegas)
I literally just traded CJ2K for Sproles 20 minutes before the news came out. How screwed am I?
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Are you sure the news wasn't released somewhere before the trade was made? Might be worth looking into.
The Great Kabuki (Fear the green mist) (not sure, maybe overseas
Yo KC, glad you're feeling better my man... You agree with the green mist color, or would you have rolled with pastel? My wife still rides me over color choice....Which D you like better to cover me not picking up the Chargers last night... Detroit or Denver...
KC Joyner (3:28 PM)
Kabuki, I'm still a bit under the weather but gladly gutting it out for the chatters. That dark green is the color to go with, as it made it look like it was some sort of acid he was spitting. Detroit D would be the way to go.
Gary (Boston)
Gut feeling - Nicks or M. Williams this week?
KC Joyner (3:29 PM)
Please say that wasn't a joke - my gut can't take any more this week :-) Nicks is the pick.
P. Thomas (NO)
First you said P Thomas is a flex, then RB2. Whats next, RB1 before the chat is done?
KC Joyner (3:30 PM)
I think he's going to be on that border between RB2 and flex.
Bob (Fort Lauderdale)
KC, you mentioned tight ends productions levels are brutal. Can Fasano grab a few dump passes this week with the Fins and possibly be a short yardage TD target? I'm better off sticking with M. Bennett, right?
KC Joyner (3:31 PM)
Stick with Bennett.
Shane "Footsteps" Falco (Washington)
Quick QB ? = I have RG3 & looking ahead to Wk10 he is on BYE. Would you consider trading Ryan Mathews straight up for Big Ben vs. KC even as a one week fill-in? My RBs = Rice, AP,
KC Joyner (3:33 PM)
It's hard to make this call without knowing if your team has a backup QB already on roster. If not, Ben is a good trade target, but you might be able to get somewhere near his point total without sacrificing a RB who can be a high-end point scorer.
AJ (Massachusetts )
3 years I've been submitting questions and you've never answered, hope you can answer this one:I have Ryan Matthews and Darren McFadden as my starting RBs and they're killing me every week. Time to give up on them? What kind of trade value do they have?
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
AJ, do trust that I'm not ignoring your questions. I'd say no to giving up on DMC and yes to considering trading Mathews.
LoHo (CT)
Would you trade Vick (or Luck) and Spiller for RG3? my other rbs are CJ, martin, and charles. thanks
KC Joyner (3:36 PM)
Vick & Spiller for RG3 is a very good trade. Luck/Spiller for RG3, probably not so much.
Livin' Lucky? (Bermuda)
Piggy backing on Trevis' comment, I traded Sproles away three days ago. Obviously I had no idea. Is that just good old fashioned luck on my part or should I rescind the deal?
KC Joyner (3:37 PM)
Since that was clearly a lucky break (no pun intended), there is no need to rescind the deal. The concern in the case of the other chatter is the timing suggests the other owner may have known about the injury before it got widely reported and tried taking advantage of the situation. Not saying that is definitely the case, just that the commissioner of that league may want to look into it.
Beth (NY)
Just dropped Daryl Richardson for Pierre Thomas. Good move or do you see the Rams implementing Daryl more and more?
KC Joyner (3:39 PM)
The Rams look to be changing their backfield to a platoon, so Richardson will likely get 50 percent of that team's carries ROS. Having said that, if Sproles is out for a few weeks, Thomas will likely be the lead RB or bell cow and that makes his value higher. Good move.
Jerry the king Lawler (Big ring in the sky)
Trying to beat the Macho Man this week who do I play at flex J Jones, D Thomas, Law Firm, A Green or Britt? Need 3 of these C Johnson, Maclin, D Moore, S Smith car ?
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
You do know that Lawler is still alive, right?
Nick Bockwinkel (AWA)
Bockwinkel vs Jerry "the King" in Memphis was my first live match. Vick owner here. Would you trade Michael Turner to get Luck? Other RB's are DMC, Charles, and FJAX.
KC Joyner (3:41 PM)
Depends on what QB Luck would be replacing.
DDP (Dallas)
Need your guidance KC! Have sproles and ridley in a 0.5 ppr as my rbs. with the sproles injury definitely need a trade. Out of my WRs, Brandon Marshall Roddy White Hakeem Nicks and Malcolm Floyd, who would you trade and what can I get for him? HELP PLEASEEEEE
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
Floyd would be the most obvious choice but he might not command enough value. Nicks would be next on the list and he should command RB2-caliber value.
Andrew (SF)
Where do you stand on H2H vs. points-only leagues? I think it's undeniable that the latter is more accurate, but do you personally think the "fun" of H2H is worth it for some of it's flaws? I'm 10th at 2-6, yet 3rd in points.
KC Joyner (3:43 PM)
There has to be a way to hybrid this. Maybe make the league H2H for the top 2 playoff spots and the other two postseason spots are won by the teams with the most points (precluding the 2 teams that won the H2H playoff spots).
Nick Bockwinkel (AWA)
Follow up to my earlier question. The only Qb I have now is Vick and he scares me moving forward.
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
Overlooked that the first time, sorry about that. Trade Turner for Luck.
sean (WI)
Thoughts on Luck ROS, if you had him and Romo, would you be looking to upgrade or hold tight? 2-6 HELP
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
Luck's got some favorable matchups ROS - Jags, Bills, Chiefs being best out of the selection. Romo should be copasetic point-wise the rest of the year, so go ahead and trade Luck, but just be sure to drive a high price given that he has those favorable matchups.
Jobber (Tennessee)
Nick Bockwinkel gets two questions answered and I never get one. I guess that makes me the Brooklyn Brawler of chat....
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
Being the world champion has its benefits.
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated)
Hello fellow mad scientist...I have Eli Manning and Matt Ryan is available via trade should I make a trade or hold onto Eli? Also, Flex this week Alex Green, Donald Brown or Stevie Johnson?
KC Joyner (3:51 PM)
Ryan is a great QB but not enough of an upgrade over Eli that you should consider paying a high price for a trade. Johnson on the flex pick, but that could change after today's start-sit update is complete.
Barron Von Raschke (Normal)
The claw was my signature move
KC Joyner (3:52 PM)
You didn't even spell his name right - it's Baron. Google it.
James (A Patient Peach)
Would you trade Mike Williams to get Greg Jennings? I've still got the likes of Britt on my bench until Jennings comes back
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
General rule is never trade for an injured player with the hopes that player will return later in the year and perform at his usual pace. Stick with Williams.
Curran (Philly)
What if you did smaller Points matchups? in a 12 team league have 3 "games" a week with 4 teams in each, winner gets 4, 2nd gets 2, 3rd 1, last 0... can mix up the groups each week... Wouldn't that work as a hybrid?
KC Joyner (3:54 PM)
That's a solid idea.
GARY (Simi Valley)
Andre Roberts, Jared Cook, Mark Ingram - Pick one for my PPR FLEX spot. Thanks.
KC Joyner (3:55 PM)
First instinct would be Roberts.
Jeff (NY)
Do you follow the Iron Sheik on twitter? Which Steeler RB would he like ROS?
KC Joyner (3:57 PM)
I don't, but I've seen his posts a few times and can say he likes to fling F-bombs left and right. Hard to say who to like for Pitt RB ROS, as it could be a week to week choice.
Last Call (Boston)
Fjax and JJ for McGahee a fair trade?
KC Joyner (3:57 PM)
Assuming JJ is Julio Jones, that is not a trade to make.
Andy (Vancouver, WA)
Do a double wins - losses each week. 10 team league, 5 h2h matchups then award wins & loses for top 5 point scorers and bottom 5 point scorers.
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
That's another creative way to go about it.
LittleRon - H2H scoring idea (WV)
I've heard in some league you play against every other team each week. So if you have the best week in a 10 team league you go 10-0. Seems like a good solution but have never seen a league like this?
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
And another creative way.
Brian (Mechanicsburg, PA)
KC, do you trust any Pittsburgh running back now that Mendy and Dwyer are doubtful? I'll need to drop one of them to pick someone up. Who should I drop? Best back on the waiver wire appears to be J. Bell. This is going to be a rough weekend!
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Tough weekend indeed! Dwyer would probably be the better selection.
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
Well, it's been an interesting hour but I've got to hit the road. Couple of quick items. Links to the TFS material are always posted on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. For those who subscribe to the start-sit charts, those should be sent out on Saturday morning, barring any unforeseen delays. Thanks very much for all of the questions and hope to see you all here next week!
