Stephania Bell (3:02 PM)
Hello everyone: Busy, busy Tuesday. I will only be able to chat with you for a half hour due to the Big Ben news updates. So let's go...
Stephania, please explain Ben Roethlisberger's injury more and time frame for him to return?
Stephania Bell (3:05 PM)
Corey: Will be brief here. More detail coming in a blog post soon. But the SC joint is clavicle meeting the sternum, right at the front of the chest. Very painful. But we don't know the degree of injury. This is something where activity is determined by pain and functionality. If anyone seems to be able to play through pain, it's Ben. Of course, it's never been something like this where it is his throwing shoulder. I think he'll miss this week. Afterward, all bets are off. Could be 2 weeks, could be 6. (I think it will be closer to 2 knowing him, but can't guarantee of course)
How long is DMC going to be out?
Stephania Bell (3:09 PM)
No way to know for sure but looks like out this week for sure. I'd plan on several.
what is jordy's status?
Stephania Bell (3:10 PM)
Pete: Improving apparently during his bye week. Sounds like the Packers expect him back this week.
What's the latest on Garcon? I held on to him forever, and finally dropped him, and now I'm hearing he might play?
Stephania Bell (3:13 PM)
Scott: He said all along he would try to play but he just hasn't been able to do anything b/c of the pain. He's giving it his last effort now. The worry with his type of injury is instability at the base of that toe. Either it can limit his ability to push off or he may be at risk of dislocating. Or, he may just find it to be too painful to even get up to full speed. I don't have a lot of confidence that he makes a successful return - or worry if he does come back that it might be short-lived.
Stephania, what do you make of the return of Hernandez to practice last Wednesday thru Friday, only to have the Pats say he wouldn't play on Sunday? If they saw something wrong with him on Wednesday, why would they keep on practicing him?
Stephania Bell (3:15 PM)
Peter: We don't know whether he was making progress, then had a setback, or whether he didn't progress enough to the point where they felt comfortable putting him out there. They're offering zero information so we have no choice but to watch the practices again this week and see how it plays out. Put it this way, they haven't hinted at his season being in jeopardy but we may endure a couple more weeks like this.
What can you tell me about Brandon Myers?
Stephania Bell (3:16 PM)
Bill: Concussion. Has to go through the protocols, clearance of symptoms then gradual return to activity and see how he tolerates. Must be cleared by independent neurologist to return to play. Hard to know if it all happens in a week.
think Murray will play this weekconcerned about braadhsaw for the rest of the season
Stephania Bell (3:17 PM)
Matt: Do not think Murray plays this weekend. Reasonable to be concerned about Bradshaw as he is getting neck evaluated during this bye week. But Murray is not your replacement.
What is the status update on Jennings and Jones Drew? I hear that Jennings was telling reports that he was ready to play, but his doctor wouldn't give him the okay?
Stephania Bell (3:19 PM)
Michelle: Not sure that's quite it. Just think he's saying he thinks he'll be ready sooner than what they project. Typically a 4-6 week injury and I think 4 is the earliest. Would not expect him before December. And MJD, he said two weeks away last week but think it's prob on the roder of 3-4 (and that's if nothing goes awry).
Murray or Mendenhall closer to playing??? Happy Thanksgiving early
Stephania Bell (3:21 PM)
Jeff: Thanks! ANd same to you...I'll say this. At least Mendenhall is practicing some with the team. So far, Murray is not. And while Mendenhall is still questionable this week, think he's back in another week. Murray needs to test foot in practice and they already said he needs to show he's 100% before he returns. Thinking 2 -3 weeks.
Only reason Fred Jackson misses time is because of the quick turnaround to Thursday night?
Stephania Bell (3:22 PM)
Not the "only" reason, but it made it easy to rule him out. In other words, no guarantee for next week. Have to see how he's doing as the week progresses.
Any updates on Antonio Brown?
Stephania Bell (3:23 PM)
Steve: Still q from Steelers. Of course, we won't know anything until they practice next. Heard last week a rumor he might miss several weeks, but that's always the case with this type of injury. Remains a week-to-week guy and it's activity dependent.
Hi Stephania.Danny Amendola come out of the match up with the hard-hitting 49ers ok? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (3:26 PM)
Peter: Yes. Yes, he did. At one point after a big hit he got up and seemed to be moving his shoulder around, wondered if it was bothering him, but then he went on and kept playing without any limitation so assuming he's just fine.
Stephania!!! ^_~ Any news on Vick or A. Smith so far? I know it is still early in the week but do you think you will have more details by Thursday? I ask because my backup QB plays Thurs night but don't want to pull the trigger if I don't have to. Thanks a lot for your help always!
Stephania Bell (3:29 PM)
James: Hope to. I think the hints we're getting out of Philly are pretty strong that Vick won't play. As for Smith, they have until Monday night so there's more time. We won't know by Thursday (I don't think) but I'd say it's more likely than not that they don't and I'd plan on your other option.
Any update on Cutler or Alex Smith?
Stephania Bell (3:30 PM)
Matt: Just a follow up to the last, same situation with Cutler since he doesn't play until Monday night.
Ms. Bell, could you please tell me how is Sproles doing, just traded Leshoure for him
Stephania Bell (3:31 PM)
Elwray: No word from Saints - we'll see if he can get into practice this week. Was wearing a splint on the sideline last week. Needs to catch and be able to demo good ball control before he could play (and of course needs the med clearance to return).
Stephania Bell (3:32 PM)
Have to run folks. Sorry to cut short today but due to the Ben news, headed to NFL Live. Will post a blog entry later today and lots more to come Thursday. See you in the Friday chat!!
