Who will play the biggest role in the Alamo Bowl for Texas if they can get the win?
Sean Adams (12:10 PM)
I still say that it is David Ash. The Oregon State defense will stop the run, and Ash will have to make more than a couple of big throws in order for Texas to win. If Texas wins he will play a huge role.
Was disappointed to see Diaz withdrew his name from the FIU gig and claim he wants to stay at UT. Now my question is this, regardless of the outcome in the bowl Saturday, does Diaz return as DC?
Sean Adams (12:13 PM)
That is the million dollar question. Candidates withdrawing their names from head coaching jobs when they know they are not going to get it is always a way to save face. I still think there will be a coaching change, but I could be dead wrong. I think a lot from top to bottom will ride on this bowl game.
Steven (Cedar Park)
With Texas seemingly overloaded at the QB position next year, give me your choice of who is likely to transfer first?
Sean Adams (12:17 PM)
I hate talking about that because I don't know all of the personal factors that go into those decisions. I know the football factors, not the personal ones. Like the fact that Conner Brewer has a sister on the swim team at Texas. I'd rather not speculate, but I doubt all five who are planning on being here now would stay, especially if another one is brought in.
What is a postion of strength next year other than RB?
Sean Adams (12:20 PM)
The offensive line will be very good in my opinion. The defensive line and wide receivers will be good as well. Get back to me on whether DBU is still DBU in 2013.
Has Mack lost control of this program? I guess I'm asking where is the accountability in this football program?
Sean Adams (12:23 PM)
I knew that question was coming. There were questions about leadership, momentum and accountability within the program before the incidents of last night. That question is still out there. It looms large over the program right now.
Adam (Ann Arbor)
Big Sean! Hope you had a great holiday. Quick one for ya -- how big of a role do you see Cayleb Jones playing next year? Liked what I saw early from him a lot -- no chance Magic Mike leaves early, correct?
Sean Adams (12:34 PM)
I don't think Mike Davis leaves early, and I do think Jones plays a bigger role next year. He should start in a few of the personnel groupings and should make plays in 2013.
Many articles point out that our entire O-line will be returning. I think Carter Strickland was the only one that questioned that as being a positive factor. I agree with him there because I thought our interior linemen (guards and center, especially Espinosa) were potentially the worst in our conference. Any thoughts on if we'll see any new faces in the trenches next year?
Sean Adams (12:38 PM)
I have those same worries especially in the middle of the offensive line but there will be some youth that will be served in the two-deep and maybe even as a starter by the time the 2013 season rolls around.
BU's monster win last night should give me confidence in the strength of the Big 12, and it does. It should also give me confidence in Texas' bowl matchup, but it doesn't. Is my intuition right?
Sean Adams (12:43 PM)
Baylor is better right now than it was when it played Texas. I don't know if the same can be said for Texas. Your intuition is right, but 1-85 I still think Texas is a better team than Oregon State.
I've been saying Ash's delivery is too slow. I think we need to give Overstreet or Brewer a shot. Do you think Major will have an open competition or will Mack water down his ability to run the offense?
Sean Adams (12:46 PM)
I think Major will run the offense, and depending on the Alamo Bowl, it could be a very open competition come spring. Like open enough to invite another competitor.
Leslie (Abilene, TX)
As the only Notre Dame homer in west Texas, tell me what your prediction is for the BCS championship game.
Sean Adams (12:49 PM)
Well then I'm sorry to do this to you: I think it is a close game. Closer than the last few BCS trips for Notre Dame. But I think Alabama wins the game. I'm a little worried about the ND offense against Saban and that defense for the Tide.
Do you feel any players will transfer out? Like QB, RB, WR, maybe DL? I just know we have a long line up the depth chart at a few positions. I feel kids might want at least the chance to showcase their talents.
Sean Adams (12:56 PM)
Again, I never want to speculate, but if Texas were to bring in a QB it would make it tough. I think the RB position is fine, though. Having numbers there is a good thing.
If Mack left who would be top candidates for the job, and would Texas make a run at Gruden?
Sean Adams (12:58 PM)
Assuming Chip Kelly is heading to the NFL, the list is long ... limitless even. I would go for the best and the brightest at every level. Texas is that good. I would start with Nick Saban, who could win 3 of the last 4 NC's at Alabama, and he could be ready to move on. Again, that's where I would start.
David J (Sugar land Tx)
In a perfect world Ash continues to get better and J. Heard takes over as a RS Fresh, agree? Kid is a baller.
Sean Adams (1:02 PM)
I don't get too excited over high school kids until I see them at the college level. He is a baller though.
Derrin (Plano, TX)
Are you surprised at how easily Baylor beat up on UCLA last night? Do you see the Bears now as a consistent threat to the Horns/Big 12 perennial powers moving foward?
Sean Adams (1:03 PM)
I actually called this on my radio show yesterday. Baylor has gotten so much better over the course of the last six weeks on the defensive side of the ball. Yes, they will be good going forward as long as the defense continues to evolve and grow.
Lake (Federal Way, WA)
Thoughts on the Cotton Bowl?
Sean Adams (1:06 PM)
Best bowl game outside of the BCS. I have said that nobody would want to play Florida or Texas A&M in a playoff format, and I'll stick with that thought. Aggies roll.
Sean Adams (1:07 PM)
Thanks or the questions, and I'll be up and running from the press box during the Alamo Bowl.
