Carl Lawson? Marquez North? Derick Green? Also, TN currently has 7 ** committed per Scout and that can't be good. Can it?
Dave Hooker (3:00 PM)
I'm hearing Vols have made up big-time ground with Lawson. Marquez North has shown strong interest. I think it's 50/50 now with North Carolina. Tennessee in the running for Green but I'd guess Michigan.I prefer our rankings but it's true, the Vols don't have a great class but have potential. Thanks
4-star OT Na'Ty Rodgers committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks today. What are your thoughts on him?
Dave Hooker (3:01 PM)
I think Rodgers is a huge get for South Carolina. He was a key target for several northeast schools. Yet Spurrier pulled him away. It's also a sign that Spurrier and staff are more willing to travel faraway to get prospects. They've even been in California some. That's not been Spurrier's M.O.Thanks
How does the Big Ten succesfully recruit more from the south?
Dave Hooker (3:03 PM)
I assume you mean "in" the south.Hire coaches with ties there is the best way. Urban Meyer will have success in the south. And I know it's not the Big Ten but Louisville will too thanks to Charlie Strong's ties there. And frankly, the Big Ten has to prove it is a comparable conference. Southeast guys are staying home because they believe SEC is the best football. And it's hard to argue that fact. Thanks
Keith Kulpinski (crystal lake, il)
What are you hearing in regards to the recruitment of Elijah Brown and Trevon Blueitt for the Butler Bulldogs? Could commitments come soon?
Dave Hooker (3:05 PM)
I would ask Dave Telep and/or Paul Biancardi that question. I'm football but I'm sure they know. However, I'll get more informed soon. There's a new feature for hoops right around the corner. Thanks
How much impact can this Ole Miss recruiting class have next year?
Dave Hooker (3:07 PM)
I think it will have as much impact as any in the nation. Sure, the Rebels have big name high school prospects that will play like Nkemdiche and Treadwell, among others. But don't forget they also have four junior college prospects that should be ready to go. I really like Lavon Hooks fyi. Thanks
You are cool
Dave Hooker (3:07 PM)
Of these linebackers, which one's do you think the South Carolina Gamecocks will get? 4-star Quinton Powell, 4-star Yannick Ngakoue, 3-star Skai Moore, and 3-star Jonathan Walton?
Dave Hooker (3:12 PM)
Ngakoue is really hard to get a read on but I think he'll stay up north. Be tough to get Powell out of Florida so I'll take Walton. Thanks

:HOW DOES SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS FOOTBALL TEAM LOOK FOR NEXT YEAR
Dave Hooker (3:14 PM)
I see good things ahead for the Gamecocks for the foreseeable future. They've done a great job of recruiting.Just spoke with Na'Ty Rodgers' mother, Nana Bailey, and she said no more official visits. That means no Florida State to worry about this weekend. Thanks
Does FSU Close like they used this year? Lot of prospects that are still in play on. Who do you think they will get
Dave Hooker (3:17 PM)
I don't see a great close for FSU honestly. Too much change. I also wouldn't be surprised if Mark Stoops pulled a prospect or two north. I know he's trying with Marquez White. However, there class will still be strong. Thanks
If Tennessee can get into the top 20 per ESPN rankings, does that classify a pretty good job in a short amount of time by Butch Jones?
Dave Hooker (3:18 PM)
With the mess he was left with I would say "good" for 20, "great" for top 15 and even "fine" for top 25.He is starting below ground level. The relationships with high school coaches really slipped under Derek Dooley. Thanks
How much does Clemson not offering Mackensie alexander's brother hurt them?
Dave Hooker (3:19 PM)
Well I'm sure it doesn't help but Clemson's problem has never been procuring talent. They'll still have a strong class.Just have to notch a few more wins to be considered an elite program. Thanks
Dave Hooker (3:21 PM)
I'm going to save that for Jared Shanker. He's on Friday and does a great job of covering the midwest. Thanks
North to UNC or UT?
Dave Hooker (3:23 PM)
I said early 50/50 on this one. But I'm changing my stance.I say Vols 55/45.His unofficial visit to Knoxville this month just speaks volumes to me. Too bad he couldn't make that drive over the mountains in the fall. GorgeousThanks
Dave Hooker (3:27 PM)
Ohio State has 22 commitments but I'm sure they will land some more big-name guys. Watch for them to offer four-star athlete Ryan Timmons tomorrow. Florida did last night. The Buckeyes have slow played Timmons but with another big-time offer they're feeling the heat.I don't think there will be a mass exodus at Oregon. Many spots are filled elsewhere and the Ducks will still be cool with or without Kelly, unless they start losing.Check these stories out:Oregon commits react to news of Chip Kelly heading to NFL (Insider)http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/oregon/post?id=3856McKinney: Oregon targets react to news of Chip Kelly heading to NFL (Insider)http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/oregon/post?id=3873
Ryan (Dayton, Ohio)
Any chance Urban Meyer pulls a surprise signing or two come national signing day...can we expect any former Oregon commits to show up in Columbus?
Dave Hooker (3:28 PM)
Answer to question above.
How much does the loss of all the coaches hurt FSU? Obviously they are not going to finish as high this year as in the past 2 years recruiting.
Dave Hooker (3:28 PM)
See above JasonThanks
Do you think that the Vols will end up signing any of the "high profile" recruits that visited this past weekend?
Dave Hooker (3:30 PM)
I think the most likely is Shelton Gibson. I'm also hearing Tennessee is in good shape with Carl Lawson, but like Jon Gruden becoming the head coach of the Vols, I believe that when I see it.Thanks
If you were a 5 star player and could go anywhere, where would you play?
Dave Hooker (3:32 PM)
Alabama, I don't like to lose. And that's from someone that grew up in Knoxville. I feel like we should expect kids to make business decisions. This is their future. Also, I love the ribs in Tuscaloosa. However, each person wants something different out of the college experience. When I was younger I might have said Miami or Hawaii for obvious reasons. Thanks
Does Roof leaving PSU have an impact on their recruiting?
Dave Hooker (3:35 PM)
Yes. He had strong ties in the south. Penn State isn't going to make their living on southern prospects but a few here and there can certainly help.Jonathan Walton's loss may have come from Roof's departure. Thanks
Gators have a chance with Nkemdiche?
Dave Hooker (3:37 PM)
I think he's SOOOO going to Ole Miss but I've been wrong before. Just seems to make too much sense. If the Rebels had an average class as they always seemed to, I could see him going elsewhere. They, however, have a chance to do something special there.
Ben (Green Bay)
Where does Matthew Thomas end up ?
Dave Hooker (3:42 PM)
Man, that's a tough one. He's taken officials to Bama and Miami. Official to Florida State and Georgia. Bulldogs will get last word just before signing day so I'll take them.None would surprise me though. Thanks
Dave Hooker (3:43 PM)
Kipp Adams at dawgnation.com says Georgia will get Tunsil. Not surprised. He's been an open lean there for weeks. Story coming on him shortly fyi.Kamara slight lean to Alabama over Georgia, unless you meant David Kamara. lol Thanks
Does Constantine Ritzmann have any younger brothers?
Dave Hooker (3:44 PM)
If he did they would be good. No question. Thanks
Any updates on recruits considering Michigan?
Dave Hooker (3:45 PM)
I'd say they'll get Derrick Green on Saturday. However, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones will be in Richmond to visit him later this week. Not sure on UM coaches. Thanks
Dave Hooker (3:47 PM)
Here's a Kamara update guys. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/georgia/post?id=15497
Any updates on recruits that are considering Michigan?
Dave Hooker (3:47 PM)
See above Roger. Thanks
Alex (Irmo, SC)
What type of impact does Montravius Adams have if he signs with Clemson?
Dave Hooker (3:49 PM)
I think it would be very significant. The Tigers have lost some sizzle since Nkemdiche bolted. Adams isn't the same player or as highly rated but he could provide some mo. Thanks
Josh (Hendersonville, TN)
You're the man!

Dave i think matthew thomas picks the canes and is going to visit wen. For the duke game but i think we get kirkland too because kirk said that they wanted to play together but do you think we can get collins and bryant back as well as landing stacey coley who said he almost commited to miami on his visit in dec.
Dave Hooker (3:53 PM)
Nothing would be surprising in January in recruiting. Good luck. Thanks
Tunsil and Kamara to UGA? I'm pretty sure Kamara is Athens bound.
Dave Hooker (3:55 PM)
I could see that. However, I could see slight lean to Alabama on Kamara. Thanks. Here's an update on him. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/georgia/post?id=15497
Where do you think Tunsil, Foster and Adams end up?
Dave Hooker (3:56 PM)
Tunsil - Georgia. Foster - No one knows. Maybe Georgia? Adams - Clemson and Georgia. I'll take Clemson. Thanks
Demarcus Walker ... What position will he play in college (DE/DT) and what is expected talent wise out of him... Didnt know much about him because I didnt know FSU was recruiting him and then he EE
Dave Hooker (3:57 PM)
Most every tackle wants to play end for some reason. However, Walker is 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds. Sounds like a tackle to me and our scouts agree. Thanks
Trace (Dallas, TX)
More likely to commit to A&M: Prevot or Daeshon Hall?
Dave Hooker (3:59 PM)
From Damon Sales, who handles the midlands "Torrodney Prevot: If he doesn't stay at USC, could see him at Texas A&M.Daeshon Hall: If he doesn't stay with Washington (he's from Seattle), there are several possibilities for him. Oregon is one, Texas A
Lennay (Norte Dame)
When do the new rankings come out for next year
Dave Hooker (4:01 PM)
They had a big visit weekend but didn't land any commitments. I'm somewhat surprised. That place sells itself. Beautiful, but I'd rather have prospects in on a game day - and not in January. Thanks
What kind of chance do you give Ole Miss to get Tunsil and Austin Goson?
Dave Hooker (4:03 PM)
Not good for Tunsil. I think he's Georgia bound. Would not be surprised if Gohlson flipped from Florida State to Ole Miss. Not one bit. Thanks
can you give me a shocker for the upcoming signing day
Dave Hooker (4:05 PM)
Gohlson signs with Ole Miss. Southern California will lose at least one commitment unexpectedly. Maryland will get a four-star commitment on signing day. Tennessee will finish with a top 20 class, although I don't feel great about that last one. Thanks
DS [via mobile]
Any chance of a strong finish by Charlie Strong and Louisville?
Dave Hooker (4:07 PM)
I would almost guarantee it. They don't have great numbers but he'll secure a big name or two before it's all said and done. The only knock on him was that he wasn't going to stay at Louisville. Now that he has shown he will, he'll be one of the best recruiting head coaches in the nation. Watch out.
Mike (Toms river)
How do you Notre Dame will close out this class
Dave Hooker (4:08 PM)
Top 3 but I don't think they'll pass Florida or Alabama.
Dave Hooker (4:10 PM)
Hey ladies and gentlemen, got to roll. Really enjoyed the chat. I'll be on here every Monday. Erik McKinney from the west will be on tomorrow. Corey Long from Florida will be on Wednesday. Damon Sayles from midlands will be on Thursday. Jared Shanker will be on Friday. Updates coming from me shortly include Jaylen Miller and Na'Ty Rodgers. Be well!
