Hey guys, hope you all are staying WARM!
Hey Ohmie,I just want to let you know about the game here on March 2.I got some extra tickets, so come on over and watch the game in person. You can meet and greet some of the Big Blue fans and become a fan ok Buddy??Thanks!!!2013 NCAA Champs!!!
ohm (1:01 PM)
LOL! U-of-M is good this year, no doubt. But let's start with baby steps first like the Wolverines actually getting further in the tournament than MSU on a consistent basis.
Jim va.beach [via mobile]
Hey ohm. Who are the giants looking at in the draft?
ohm (1:03 PM)
Jim, a bit early for that. As Jerry Reese said earlier this week, the Giants still have a lot of researching and interviewing to do. And you also have to see what happens during free agency in March so that they know what areas they need to address. But I would say defensive line is always a target. Offensive line, cornerback and linebacker should be on the board as well.
John(nj) [via mobile]
Ohm, with this story coming out about the Jets being interested in trading revis any chance the giants show interest? I know he's coming off ACL surgery but for the price I've heard (2nd and 5th rounders) you gotta roll the dice
ohm (1:04 PM)
John, I'd love to see Revis with the Giants. But I just don't see how the Jets would ever trade him to the Giants. Just don't see Woody allowing that. Also, remember, the Giants are cap-strapped. They'd have to make some serious moves to take that kind of number in. You still want to keep JPP, Nicks, Cruz in the future. Absorbing a Revis kind of deal would make that really difficult.
kevin (new york)
Ohm: Though statistically inferior, could the case be made that without a fully healthy Nicks, a worse statistical defense, a tougher schedule and a rookie wr and new tight end to break in that Eli actually might have played better than 2011 just to get the team back to 9-7 this year?
ohm (1:06 PM)
I hear what you are saying Kevin but just using the eye test I'd say no. Because his throws weren't as sharp this season as it was in 2011. And remember, he had a new tight end (Ballard), new third WR (Cruz), new center (Baas) to break in and he did all that with only one training camp. And he had all those fourth-quarter comebacks as well. He had a three-game stretch where he threw for zero TDs this past season. So I hear what you are saying. He needed more help for sure. But he played better in '11.
Ethan Levy (Waltham, MA)
Hey Ohm,My first question is what you think the Giants will do about the lack of defensive line production this season? Do they move Kiwi back to DE and keep Tuck as the third? Do they go that way in the draft? I also have a radio show on my colleges radio station, and was wondering if you could come on and answer some questions and preview the Har-bowl with us on Monday. If this is ok let me know!Best,Ethan
ohm (1:08 PM)
Hey Ethan. I can definitely see Kiwanuka moving back to DE full time but we will have to see what happens in free agency and draft. I think defensive line will definitely be a priority because Tuck is entering his final year and Osi likely could be gone. So it would not surprise me one bit to see them go defensive line in first round. I think they will take BPA. As for your show, tweet me @NotoriousOHM Thanks!
Tim (New Haven, CT)
Ohm,Do you think the Giants will re-sign Martellus Bennett next year?
ohm (1:09 PM)
I think they want to but for the right price. Got to see how the market shakes out for Martellus. But I think he will be back.
eno (long island)
darelle revis to nyg? ramsesses barden...super senior?
ohm (1:10 PM)
Eno, I answered the Revis thing earlier. As for Ramses, he wants to return. I can see the Giants bringing him back for cheap but if he gets a better deal elsewhere with a shot at PT then he probably should take that. Super senior? I don't know what that is in reference to.
Have the NYG made any statements as to what positions they are wanting to address in the NFL draft?
ohm (1:11 PM)
Brian, Jerry pretty much just says he is open to everything and they are in the process of putting their board together. But he wasn't happy with the defense and the Giants' inability to stop the run or get pressure on the quarterback. And he has two free agent starters on the offensive line and he also has little depth at cornerback so those are areas of concern.
Roy (South Amboy, NJ)
Ohm: Giants are reportedly more than $9 million over the cap. Is Webster a sure goner? How about Diehl, Canty and Boley?
ohm (1:12 PM)
According to John Clayton they are close to $5 million over cap. Which isn't anything new with the Giants. I think all the guys you said are candidates to re-do their deals or be cap casualties. Webster will make $7 million in his final year of his deal. And Diehl will make around $4 million. Same for Boley. So we have to see what happens with those guys in March.
Tim McElroy (New Haven, CT)
Ohm, while Eli is still in the prime of his career, do you think it?s time to draft and developing a quarterback ?
ohm (1:13 PM)
I don't think they should use a high pick on a QB because once you do that, you start the clock on Eli. But I wouldn't mind seeing them add a young QB who has potential to groom but I think Eli has got at least another three-five years in him.
Tim (New Haven, CT)
Ohm, in your opinion can you rank the NFC East stadiums from best to worst?
ohm (1:15 PM)
I don't know what you want me to rank as far as what's the best stadium from a fan point of view or for players to play in or the entire atmosphere? Remember, I only sit in the press box which is at the top of each stadium. But I like the Cowboys Stadium of all the NFC East stadiums. I'd say Dallas, New York, Philadelphia and then Washington.
first superbowl, corey webster falls and lets randy moss score. Jordy nelson smoked corey webster last year regular season for comeback win Torry Smith.Vincent jackson, julio jones Greg Little, Crabtree, for god sakes OGLETREE. corey webster NEEDs to GO. had 2 great interceptions this year thats about it. ! RELEASE HIM!
ohm (1:18 PM)
The Giants need to do something with his contract. But as much as he struggled, they need a veteran CB. And you are going to have to pay to get a good one. If they don't have Webster, they are down to Prince and Hosley. As much as Webster struggled, they need him to have a bounce-back season.
Is Bradshaw still the starting RB next season? Can't stay healthy and Wison has shown great ability to break off the big run.
ohm (1:18 PM)
We'll have to see how the touches shake down in training camp. But I can see the two definitely splitting touches regardless of who starts.
i hate how much respect the giants have for RG3 an the redskins! NEED SOME LAWRENCE TAYLORNESS BACK ON THAT Dfense! Ohm i know u gunna hate me for this...but JUSTIN TUCK WAS SOFT THIS YEAR!
ohm (1:20 PM)
Everybody can use some Lawrence Taylor on their team. He's a once in a lifetime player. I'm not gonna hate on you. Tuck hasn't played up to his standards for the past two seasons due to injuries, stuff that happened off the field with deaths in his family and other things. But he's still a quality defensive end/pass rusher and you don't find those everywhere. He'll do everything he can to bounce back.
andre brown really gave the giants a running game. great virture of patience and vision. when he went down, giants hurt. my opinion andre brown + stevie brown = playoffs ! coughlin gotta stop calling it the "redzone" call it the "brown" zone
ohm (1:22 PM)
Brown zone. I like it! LOL. They could have used him but I think they had bigger problems than just Andre Brown. He wouldn't have kept them from getting waxed in Atlanta and Baltimore. That is bigger than one guy.
Tim (New Haven, CT)
Ohm do you know if the Giants will wear their red alternates this year? They need to bring those back!!
ohm (1:22 PM)
Not sure Timmy. But you can tweet the Giants. They might be able to answer that one.
ohm (1:23 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for the questions today! Stay warm ya'll!
