Should I be worried about Bush and Fitz injuries in long run?
Stephania Bell (11:50 AM)
Tom: I worry more about Bush given his injury history. Fitz, as long as he recovers well from this (and I think he's sensible enough to be smart about it) should not have a major problem going forward.
If you have Rice and Pierce on your team (as I do), whom would you start??
Stephania Bell (11:52 AM)
Today? It's Pierce. Rice could still be active even if he doesn't practice but this is a tough one to trust. Think I go with Pierce. Really hope they don't play this as a gametime call but it looks like it's headed that direction.
It's obvious we won't know his status until five seconds before the game, but what's your gut feeling on Gronk this week?
Stephania Bell (11:52 AM)
Chris: That he doesn't play.
Dale Cooper (Black Lodge, Twin Peaks, WA)
Any word on the (alleged?) injury Martellus Bennet suffered last week?
Stephania Bell (11:54 AM)
Dale: He has been limited in practice because of his shoulder which is what he said he "messed up" last week (before scoring). DOesn't seem like a big threat.
I haven't heard much about Sudfeld, but he seems to be the perfect candidate to have a huge game against TBs poor TE defense if he's healthy -- does he seem so to you? Also I don't think Gronk will play; what do you think? BTW, great work as always.
Stephania Bell (11:55 AM)
Virgil: Don't know about huge but I do think he's the TE and it's favorable. Full practices all week, seems like he should be ready to go.
Pete (St. Louis)
A couple years back, Kevin Smith came off the street and produced a couple of days later for the Lions. Is it crazy to think McGahee could at least do something this week for the Browns?
Stephania Bell (11:56 AM)
Pete: Not at all. He's been working to be ready for a gig. As all RBs know, it's just a matter of time before running backs fall to injury, so he probably knew he had a shot. Veteran guy, not much surprises him. Definitely think he can contribute right away.
It looks like Bush was at practice today with just a knee sleeve, if he plays, how confident are you? Should i play him or Bush
Stephania Bell (11:59 AM)
Jennifer: Yes and it sounds like he was moving well early in practice. It appears he's in line to play. Lions don't show any sign of backing him down. But two weeks in a row with a knee issue. Hard to expect he's "100%" - how much will he see and will they split with Bell (who I assume you meant). I lean towards Bell...but it's uncomfortable.
Did LeSean McCoy owners avoid a big scare last night? Or do you think this injury lingers from what you've heard?
Stephania Bell (12:00 PM)
Kyle: Well, his performance in the second half showed us that a big scare was avoided. He reportedly has an ankle sprain but luckily has 10 days to rest it.
Hey!! They just fixed it!! You're welcome
Stephania Bell (12:00 PM)
Yes - and thanks to you
Jordan (OKC, OK)
Is MJD injury worth sitting him this week, Im planning on replacing him with Knoshown
Stephania Bell (12:02 PM)
Jordan: He hasn't practiced yet although I hear there's a chance he does today. If that happens then his chances of playing go way up. BUT...they're going to Seattle. It's just not going to be fun for any of the Jags, including probably MJD. I would say hold off for a week, then it should improve for him.
It looks like Dez was past his foot injury Sunday but now what's up with his back?
Stephania Bell (12:03 PM)
Jake: Tightened up apparently. Got a massage. Feels better (wouldn't we all?) Supposedly moving better in practice today.
Are there any updates on Mendenhall's toe injury? How concerned are you about his playing status this weekend?
Stephania Bell (12:05 PM)
Dave: New injury (previously was the knee). There's been literally no explanation of what it is that's bothering him with the toe. Limited practices both days and so far no suggestion from AZ that he won't play but Friday practice should tell us more.
Any update on Larry Fitzs? Odds of him playing this week are?
Stephania Bell (12:07 PM)
Duane: Odds of playing are very good. As far as he's concerned it's not a question. That said, as is always the case with hamstrings, don't really know until they get through the game without a setback that they've recovered. Hard not to start him if he plays but need to temper the expectation.
Any news on Brandon Marshalls back? Assuming its minor and he'll be fine on sunday?
Stephania Bell (12:08 PM)
Sean: Bears don't sound concerned. Said removal from practice precautionary. Still don't like the late in the week injury. But if he does something today I'd feel a lot better about him.
Steph need your input on Heath Miller, seems like he is back at practice but what can we really expect and is he worth a roster spot??
Stephania Bell (12:09 PM)
Brian: Think he's worth a stash as a second tight end. Look, he's coming off a very serious injury, multiple ligaments reconstructed. He's been brought back in a very gradual manner, which you like to see and the full practices back to back are a really good sign. Not sure he plays a full complement of snaps right away. Needs to work the confidence back too.
Hey Steph! Any word on how soon Le'Veon Bell will be suiting up?
Stephania Bell (12:11 PM)
Jesse: Some chatter that it could be this week. If so, he will not likely be the starter and would probably just be rotated in. Think it wouldn't surprise me if it's another week (Wk 4 would put him about 6 weeks out from the injury).
Lacy and starks situation after this week? Any chance starks puts up big numbers and takes the starting position? Lacy ahsnt done much and starks looked good last week
Stephania Bell (12:12 PM)
Sarah: No, believe Lacy's the guy. But this week Starks gets the start and Lacy may or may not be active. Don't think Starks has another week like last week this time.
Any update on DRich's foot in STL?
Stephania Bell (12:14 PM)
Erik: Lot of panic when he was in a boot and out of practice Weds but he was back in full practice Thurs (Weds was just protective rest). Don't think he's completely past it obviously but it doesn't appear to be a huge issue right now.
Any word on Gio Bernard's injury? I need to decide between him and Reggie Bush this week (ppr)...
Stephania Bell (12:15 PM)
Ryan: A little concerning since he just showed up on the report Thursday with the hamstring. Could be that he was getting some well-deserved rest. Would like to see what he does Friday.
How much longer do you expect Roddy White to be limited? Thinking about trading Witten and Ivory for him.
Stephania Bell (12:17 PM)
Ryan: I'd make that trade. This week may not be his breakout week but he certainly is on the mend, back in practice Thursday. Prob another week or two before he looks like himself but presuming he's been making progress with the recovery during the week and not overdoing it Sunday, I like him from October forward.
Ryan F. (Tulsa, OK) [via mobile]
You buying Matthew's logic that the Clady injury secures Moreno as the starter for his pass-blocking prowess?
Stephania Bell (12:18 PM)
Ryan: Yes. Clady is a huge loss there and Moreno has proved his value in that department. At least for the time being.
Should I be overly concerned with the 30year old S-jax's injury? Do you think he'll be back after their bye, and do you think his production will suffer after returning?
Stephania Bell (12:20 PM)
Monica: Legit concern. 30 years old and significant hamstring injury. The hope is that they will not push him back early (and it sounds like the setup for him to be out a few weeks helps that). To his credit, he has always come back very strong from injuries in the past without a dropoff.
What's the latest on Amendola. Do you see him playing the next two weeks?
Stephania Bell (12:21 PM)
Steve: Think it's longer than that - prob 3-4 minimum given the severity of the injury.
Ken (Colts Country)
Any concern starting TY Hilton in flex this week since he is questionable?
Stephania Bell (12:23 PM)
Ken: The groin injury has had him on the limited end of practice all week but there hasn't been much buzz about a threat to him actually playing. Would like to see him do a little more Friday before making that call, esp in that matchup. Think they will be coming hard after Luck.
Daniel S. (Macon,Ga.)
Who do you feel more confident in starting today--D.Wright or Heyward? Will D.Fowler be full time ever ROS? keep on bench?
Stephania Bell (12:25 PM)
Daniel: Less fear of re-injury with Heyward. Look, no reason Wright couldn't go out and have a great game. But it's the same thing I always say with hamstrings...no way to truly test them until you get into a game situation. So I'll be a little nervous for him until he gets a couple games under his belt. Not sure Fowler gets full time ros; that's an injury that has to be "managed" and that comes with intermittent rest.
Who wins in this injury riddled trade: Arian Foster and Steven Jackson for Chris Johnson and Knowshon Moreno?
Stephania Bell (12:26 PM)
Brad: FOster/Jackson. Jackson will be out for a bit but the upside there is way higher.
How is Andre Johnson looking? Good to go as WR2?
Stephania Bell (12:27 PM)
Chris: Should be. They're waiting on final MD clearance (from independent neuro) but he practiced in pads yesterday. If no recurrence of symptoms should go as usual.
Any thoughts on Vernon Davis not practicing? Is he just getting some rest to be ready for Sunday, or is he still actually questionable?
Stephania Bell (12:29 PM)
Ethan: Q until proven otherwise. But, he is primarily resting to be ready for the weekend. I have little doubt that he'll play. Key will be seeing how he does when he pushes it full speed. That will likely be the first time.
How worried should I be about Ray Rice's injury? Seems like a hip injury could flare up at any point for a running back. He went down like a sack of potatoes last week without being touched...
Stephania Bell (12:31 PM)
Reid: The real worry is if he's active and doesn't do much OR if he tries to do too much too soon and ends up going in the wrong direction. FWIW, was not at media portion of practice today. COuld end up with a week of no practice and a gametime call.
When do you think Percy Harvin will be a meaningful contributor?
Stephania Bell (12:34 PM)
Robert: Probably final 30% of the season. Even if he returns shortly after he's eligible, still think there's some acclimation to getting on the field (for the first time really with this offense too). Not to mention the probability they ease him back to some degree. So I'm not counting on much until the latter part of the season.
would you trade Bernard Pierce to get Joique Bell as a Bush owner?
Stephania Bell (12:35 PM)
Yes. I think Rice will return and this is not a true split. Bell will be productive most weeks even when Bush plays but Bush is high risk. You want bell.
Knowshon or Demarco this week?
Stephania Bell (12:36 PM)
Tony (Not from the U)
Hello Stephania. What is the latest you have heard on Malcolm Floyds very scary injury. Has the team provided a time table yet for a possible return?
Stephania Bell (12:37 PM)
Tony: No timetable, which is perfectly reasonable given the injury. NOt practicing and expect it will be a few weeks before we see him.
What RB you starting this week in PPR?Moreno, Sproles, or J. Bell?
Stephania Bell (12:38 PM)
Close - but with PPR I go Sproles.
Is Josh Gordon a good flex option this week? or weeks to come?
Stephania Bell (12:40 PM)
Kendall: The big unknown for me is Hoyer throwing to him. I like Gordon as a flex going forward. Not sure what to expect in the first week with lots of change here.
What is the latest on Kendall Wright? I think I would rather have him over Mike Williams if he is good to go. Thoughts?
Stephania Bell (12:44 PM)
Echo: Sounds like he is going to play. Some dispute by him over whether he really has a concussion but even with the suspicion of one he has to follow the protocol. But if he passes everything, he'll be on the field. Would like to see him work Friday.
Stephania Bell (12:46 PM)
Thanks to all of you for coming! I have to run to jump on the radio but wish you all good luck this week!
