Brett Okamoto (1:03 PM)
Crazy times in Toronto. Wasn't the most outstanding card leading up to the co-main and main and yeah, I kinda thought Barao and Jones were just going to cruise and it was going to be a sort of "whatever" kind of night. But wow, then the kick. Then the Jones/Gus title fight. Best fight I've ever seen guys. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
Steven (long island)
Where do you see the Russian (cant spell) going feom here? I think he will be a force at 155
Brett Okamoto (1:05 PM)
Nurmagomedov? You need to learn the dude's name. I think we all do, he's not going anywhere. It was the fight you wanted to see out of Khabib. Really, sort of went how I thought it would. Healy would test him, try to grind on him, push him around -- either Khabib would have the skills and mental ability to deal with it or he wouldn't. And he did. I think Raphael dos Anjos makes sense. Both need a big fight now. I also like Rustam Khabilov, keep an eye on him. But probably doesn't make a ton of sense to have them fight each other at this point.
Eric (Ohio) [via mobile]
Simple question. Glover or Gus next?
Brett Okamoto (1:06 PM)
I don't think you can go wrong either way. Jones and Gus are 26, they're going to meet again. Do you HAVE to do it now? I'd say the only reason you have to do it now is because if you do Jones/Glover now, it just doesn't have much buzz to it. Hard sell. From a marketing standpoint, you're almost forced into the rematch. But big picture, I'm cool with either one honestly. In fact, I might even lean Glover first, let the rematch build a bit.
Tim (Fremantle (WA))
Love watching Nurg&*^
Brett Okamoto (1:07 PM)
I'm might just start referring to him as "Khabib." Or The Nurm.
Nick (Melbourne (Australia) )
Hi Brett, Enjoyed the fights on the weekend. Saw a Jon Jones that almost appeared "mortal" compared to previous models and was surprised with the judges scores. Do they give Gus an immediate rematch or does Bones fight Glover next up?
Brett Okamoto (1:08 PM)
Ultimately I think they'll do rematch. By the way, I scored the fight 48-47 for Gus, rounds 1, 2, and 3. Was one of those fights if you had it Jones, I'm not arguing with you.
James (Albany )
Hey Brett, When is a decision likely to be made on Dom Cruz and if he keeps his belt, will and should he fight Barao first up?
Brett Okamoto (1:09 PM)
It all depends on Cruz's health. I think ideally they want Cruz/Barao around January. That means you need a solid answer from Cruz that he can go within ... I don't know ... three weeks? Four? They're going to be asking him, hey, we need a timetable. If he can't give one, then they make Barao the official and have him defend.
James (Tokyo (JPN) )
Really enjoyed the UFC on Sun (here) Bones / Gus one of the bettter fights of the year, Barao was awesome, good sub by Schwabb. thought Jones was lucky. Was there any doubt he won?
Brett Okamoto (1:10 PM)
There was doubt, yeah. But I wouldn't really call it a "controversy," I think cooler heads are prevailing here and we can all agree it could have gone either way. Some people on Twitter went a little crazy but for the most part, people were just saying what a fight it was. I spoke to Lorenzo Fertitta on Monday and he said no controversy. Close fight but he had Jones winning.
skyballentine (Honesdale, PA)
What did you think about Jon Jones post-fight comments saying he was sorry and he felt off his game? I know he gave Gus some credit but that still seems a little silly to me.
Brett Okamoto (1:12 PM)
Yeah, I mean you go through that type of fight I guess say what you want. Saying you're "off your game" seems, you use a good word, "silly" to me. You don't need to make any excuses. You ran into a great opponent and you got the victory. Saying you felt off is just unnecessary. I didn't take it though as a slight to Gustafsson, really.
Darren (Decatur, GA) [via mobile]
Brett, where do you place the Jones/Gustasffon war on the all time LHW title fight list?
Brett Okamoto (1:13 PM)
Everyone keeps breaking it up into "LHW title fights" or "LHW fights." To me, that was the best fight I've ever seen. Definitely in person, beats out Shogun/Hendo, although not by a ton. Shogun/Hendo was wild.
Steven (long island)
Can u shed any light on Dana's hint that Schaub may be needed sooner rather than later? Mir/Overeem. Barnett/Browne Cormier/ Nelson. Any ideas?
Brett Okamoto (1:13 PM)
He was in Las Vegas yesterday and I spoke to him and he wouldn't give any clues. Honestly could be any of those from what I know, haven't heard of any injuries.
Cameron (Auckland (NZ) )
Hi Bro. A few chats ago you said the UFC would be crazy to make Weidman defent his title against anyone but Anderson (which is occurring Dec) Does the same apply to Gus and Bones and when do you expect the rematch?
Brett Okamoto (1:14 PM)
The same does not apply. Very different situation. Most likely Jones is going to fight on the Super Bowl card in February. Could be Gus or Glover.
Marc Iveson (UK)
Hows it going Brett. Was really impressed with Khabib Nurmagomedov (I copied and pasted his name so no props required for awesome spelling) Healy is a beast and a big old boy at the weight. Khabib Nurmagomedov was clearly out sized and out experienced but dude goes hard! I wanna see him fight a top 10-5 guy now. I see him fighting for a title next year and thats bad news for the rest of the division
Brett Okamoto (1:16 PM)
Yep, agree with everything. Thing I was most impressed with in that fight though was Khabib mentally. You see certain fights where a young guy looks like he has the skills but folds mentally against the veteran. Recent example would be Jordan Mein and Matt Brown. Mein got off to a great start, looked like he was actually the more technical fighter, but Brown is just so tough and he never stops and that's hard to deal with mentally if you've never faced it before. Khabib stayed focused, he didn't get frustrated that Healy kept coming and coming and coming.
Simon (Oakleigh )
I know this is "oldish" news now but any idea how BJ expects to make FW when he's struggled to make LW ?
Brett Okamoto (1:17 PM)
No idea. I asked Dana point blank, "Are you worried B.J. won't make the weight?" And he said no. I was like, "Why not? It seems like a definite possibility." He said they talked about it, BJ wanted 145 and he assured Dana he would make it.
connery (boston)
If I'm Glover Teixiera and I get the next title shot, what were my biggest takeaways from Saturday night's LHW tilt?
Brett Okamoto (1:17 PM)
I can take Jon Jones' best shot and keep walking forward. If you keep the kid on his feet, you can beat him. I have to be in great shape, because he will be.
The All-New 2014 Corolla (Elevate Your Drive)
True or false: the 166 card *as a whole* will be better than the 165 card.
Brett Okamoto (1:18 PM)
As a whole, yeah. There were some big time duds at 165. But sometimes, one fight is all you need to walk away thinking it was a great card and that happened in Toronto. We'll see.
James (CT)
You and I have been on the same page saying BJ should fight only at LW, so I guess FW is at least better than WW, but I wish he was fighting anyone else. I have no desire to see him run it back with Edgar (even though BJ arguably won their first fight).
Brett Okamoto (1:19 PM)
I would agree with that, FW is better than WW. I didn't want to watch BJ get beat up at WW anymore. Frankie represents the exact type of opponent BJ will struggle with, though. I'm just not a fan of it, but oh well. It's done. I'm at least happy to see him compete again. One of my all time favorites to watch.
Sandy (Gainesville)
Bones needs to learn a thing or two from the Swede's hand speed and movement. Jon's kicks were the difference in that fight for sure, but his boxing didn't look very crisp. I think he underestimated what it would be like to fight someone with reach for once.
Brett Okamoto (1:20 PM)
He's never really been a great boxing combinations guy. He threw the elbow over and over and over and over again. Just a guess? I think Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn try to add a real crisp jab to Jones' arsenal. And he has to be better at mixing in his takedowns. He's always been able to overpower guys in the clinch to the ground, he didn't have that double leg shot on Saturday when he needed it.
Davis (Boston)
because of the Mayweather fight, do you think it effected the buys for UFC 165?
Brett Okamoto (1:21 PM)
Of course it's going to affect it. How negatively did it actually affect it? I wouldn't say it killed it ... early reported PPV numbers are ballpark of what I expected them to be.
JD (VA)
What was the bigger feat for Gus: taking Jones down or stuffing the takedowns?
Brett Okamoto (1:21 PM)
Stuffing the takedowns, Not even close.
Laser (Japan)
Did Gus. height make Jones mortal or did Gus. skill set make Jones mortal? I think it was the height that played the biggest factor.
Brett Okamoto (1:22 PM)
That's a good question ... and I actually lean towards agreeing with you. Gotta give Gus credit for the skillset, but if he's 6-foot with a 69-inch reach ... does that fight go the same way? I don't think it does.
Marc T (Sherman Oaks)
Eh, how bout that Carmont fight? Ugh, clearly of the GSP camp. I wonder how those guys celebrate after that..GSP high fiving him "You really held him down for 3 rounds!"
Mike (NC)
Carmont was dominant but not terribly exciting in his win against Costa, but he's been racking up W's... Where do you see Carmont going from here? Bisping/Munoz loser? Or somebody like Rockhold after he's done recovering?
Brett Okamoto (1:24 PM)
Yeah, I don't want to be negative here but that fight to me was more, "Geez Costa, learn how to grapple," then it was, "Oh hey, Carmont is a stud." He's 6-0 in the UFC ... he's at a point where they sort of have to give him a name but then ... they don't really because of the way he fights. He'll get a Top 10-ish guy ... I don't know, I still don't look at Carmont as a real big title contender threat though.
Marc (Brooklyn, NY)
I know that these two fighters have been total duds so far, but who do you have winning in the Marquardt/Lombard matchup and where the winner goes from there?
Brett Okamoto (1:26 PM)
For me, just on a personal level, Marquardt is the guy who will just always let you down right when you start believing in him. I think he's got the skill set to beat Lombard and I'm not sure how well this weight cut for Lombard is going to be ... I think you favor Marquardt because he's more familiar with the cut and he's got the footwork and boxing to stay on the outside and outpoint Lombard, but then again ... you kinda want to go Lombard because Marquardt just tanks sometimes in fights. I don't have a great prediction for you on that fight yet, but I guess I lean Marquardt.
connery (boston)
Haven't been hearing a lot of talk about it, but what your thoughts on next months's Cain/JDS3. I see it playing out closer to fight 2 than fight 1. That said, I'd think the UFC is pulling for JDS so they can stretch out the back-and-forth over 5 fights with the relative thinness of the HW division.
Brett Okamoto (1:28 PM)
I don't think UFC cares one way or the other. Having a heavyweight champion of Mexican descent isn't a terrible thing right now. I think it's going to be much closer than the second fight was. You gotta believe JDS learned from that loss and as we saw with Gustafsson, it's possible to improve dramatically in defensive wrestling. I think JDS just sort of got shocked in the first round by level changes and big punches by Cain and then couldn't ever turn momentum back in his favor. It should be a great fight.
Rob (Ohio)
If Nick Diaz returns soon which would you rather see, Diaz vs Kampmann or Diaz vs Ellenberger? How would either play out in your opinion?
Brett Okamoto (1:29 PM)
Given those options, I'd rather see him fight Ellenberger. Either way wouldn't be bad, though. I think he'd probably beat both, actually ... but they're close to pick em fights. Both Ellenberger and Kampmann would probably try to wrestle him.
Davis (Boston)
What do you make of Nate Diaz saying he might skip the fight to go to his high school reunion?
Brett Okamoto (1:29 PM)
Jokes.
Craig (KC)
Is there any scenerio where Cormier stays at heavyweight?
Brett Okamoto (1:30 PM)
He says no, that he's going to 205 no matter what happens. I believe him. He's really been in the process of losing weight now for over a year ... it's like, you've come this far. You just gonna turn around now and waste it? No.
CJ Ross (Hopefully never Ringside again)
Not sure what the controversy is all about. Bones Jones clearly pitched a shutout. 50-45 Bones. Easy fight to score.
Brett Okamoto (1:31 PM)
She probably would have had it a draw actually. You know how many draws she's scored in big fights in her career? Look it up if you can. Maybe she just wants everyone to go home feeling like a winner.
Jay van jiz (P-Town)
Int he 1st round we talked that a Cleaned Up & Tighter Gus beats Bones next time out. Looks like a guy that just needs to fine tune all aspects of his striking and he could be great, really great, thoughts?
Brett Okamoto (1:33 PM)
He is indestructible. In all honesty, I think that's Gus' greatest quality after watching him fight Jones. He took those elbows to the face like he was in a pillow fight. That guy is just a brute man. He faded in the fifth round because his body was shutting down on him, but man, he can take a punch with the absolute best of them. And I'm sure he hits hard. You could see it in the reaction of Jones when he got tagged ... those punches Gus lands, they count. I agree, fine tune some things ... his durability is almost as big of a natural weapon as Jones' reach and quickness is.
Mike (NC)
Kind of surprised that the UFC put Maia-Shields as a main event for one of the UFC Fight Night cards... It could be a great grappling match, but I'm seeing a boring, stiff stand-up battle. Your thoughts?
Brett Okamoto (1:34 PM)
Agree. Great fighters, don't get me wrong, but definitely capable of looking awkward and terribly boring at times. I would not have pegged that as main event material no, regardless of the event.
Miggy (Philly)
Does Glover wait if they do an immediate rematch? If not, what about Phil Davis? Or would the UFC be reluctant to make that fight?
Brett Okamoto (1:34 PM)
No, they'd make that fight in a second if the rematch happens.
Jim Bob (the Counter)
Football picks this weekend? Have you been hitting?
Brett Okamoto (1:34 PM)
About 50 percent Jim, but I'm feeling confident a hot streak is coming ...
Brett Okamoto (1:36 PM)
This week, give me SF -3, Baltimore -3, Chicago +3, San Diego 1, Saints -5.5.
dominic (texas)
Do fighters with wrestling backgrounds still hold an advantage in MMA these days?
Brett Okamoto (1:37 PM)
Yes, I believe they always will. Embrace the grind, used to weight cutting, can take another fighter out of his game plan, constantly wear on an opponent's gas tank.
Alex (Concord)
What do you make of the UFC signing Jared Rosholt, Walt Harris and Derrick Lewis? Do you know about any of them and how good they are?
Brett Okamoto (1:38 PM)
Not really, besides Rosholt. Rosholt is one of those guys you hear about that "dominates in the gym." You know what I'm talking about? "Gym champion." That's not an insult, but not really a great compliment either.
Ken (ca.)
What do you think of A.Silva's comments about the media giving Weidman more respect? Also, interesting question to Weidman about the fight being "easy".......
Brett Okamoto (1:40 PM)
Are you asking me because you knew I asked those questions yesterday? I don't get Anderson getting mad and saying we need to respect Chris. Who, exactly, is not respecting Chris? I might have accused Anderson of screwing around, but I've never said anything about Chris not deserving the win. If anybody didn't respect Chris, it was Anderson. Come on. And the part about it being easy, you know, I think mentally the second fight might be tougher on Chris. "I did it once, now I just have to do it again." That's pressure. Much more pressure than the first time when he had little to lose.
@ba2rymusic (High Point, NC)
Brett, if/when the Barao-Cruz fight takes place, who ya got? Cruz looked unhittable in his fights pre-injury, but Barao hasn't looked too shabby either.
Brett Okamoto (1:41 PM)
No, I agree. Barao has definitely not looked too shabby. I think because of the long layoff, it makes it hard to pick Dominick. Straight up, style vs. style, assuming both are healthy and 100 percent, I would probably pick Dominick. He's a great boxer and quick boxers have given Barao the most trouble.
dominic (irving)
what would your advice/strategy be to any1 trying to beat GSP?
Brett Okamoto (1:43 PM)
It starts with believing you can beat him, which Johny does. It then goes to getting in the best shape of your life, because you have to expect it to be hard. You have to know he's not just going to give it to you and you have to be in the type of shape to gut out a must-win fifth round. Then, stylistically, it would vary depending on the fighter, but I think you let your hands go ... be aggressive but in a way that doesn't lead you completely open to the takedown ... take him down if you can, turn the tables ... win rounds. Don't just think about the finish, assume it could go the distance, so win rounds.
Ken (ca.)
No, I was asking because I am truly interested in knowing what you think about what Silva is saying. Regarding Weidman's mentality, I see what you mean, but he seems very solid so far.
Brett Okamoto (1:44 PM)
Well that's funny you brought it up because I was the reporter who asked Silva what he meant by nobody giving respect and Weidman about the first fight being "easy."
connery (boston)
Who's looking worse: Dana White or several UFC Hall of Famers disparaging the organization they're enshrined in?
Brett Okamoto (1:45 PM)
The Hall of Famers. We get it and yes, you have your points. But to throw it out there left and right and in the emotional way they do it ... while they're employed by another promotion! ... it doesn't look good.
Laser (Japan)
Jones may be smug but Saturday he proved he is a fighter.
Brett Okamoto (1:45 PM)
True story.
Robert (Marlborough)
Is it possible for the UFC to ever have a Floyd Mayweather type in their sport? Seems that the way MMA is set up, you can't get a guy whom is undefeated for so long and becomes bigger than life.
Brett Okamoto (1:46 PM)
The undefeated part will always be tough. So many things can go wrong in an MMA fight. The bigger than life part ... we'll see. Boxing still has a tradition that goes back about 1 million times further than MMA. Maybe in what, 20-30 years? Some champ will come along with "that personality" that gets everybody fired up and he'll have the talent to back it up. I think it could happen.
Steve (Philly)
I think after the Serra fight some people thought GSP was mentally weak, but his response to getting drilled by Condit, to immediately get himself in a position to recover and then dominating the rest of the round, showed that to not be true. So I think your point about knowing he won't give it to you is more apt than ever.
Brett Okamoto (1:48 PM)
When I watch the Serra upset, I don't see GSP being mentally weak, he just didn't have the auto-pilot setting yet. That comes with experience. Now he's got that auto-pilot where if he's rocked, he reacts correctly without even thinking about it.
Tim (Brighton, MA)
Hey Brett,What do you think is on the line with the McDonald Faber fight? Should the winner be put in a title fight?
Brett Okamoto (1:48 PM)
Pretty much yeah, there's no one else at bantamweight. Faber and McDonald are the clear No. 3 and No. 4.
nigel (westport)
I think that Jones will take more away from this fight than Gus, and will change his gameplan accordingly, plus the fact that he will def have Jackson at ringside (in his corner) should help him tremendously. So I don't see the rematch being that close. What do you think?
Brett Okamoto (1:50 PM)
I agree with the idea Jones will evolve more than Gus. I think Jones was a little shocked in the beginning and it set a different tone for the entire fight. Next time he faces Gus, he'll know what he's up against. Gus won't be able to surprise him with some things he did in the first fight. I don't see Gus developing some crazy, spinning back-kick type of game you know? And I don't see Gus developing an offensive wrestling game to take Jones down. I can see Jones improving his takedowns to get the fight to the ground, I can see him developing a boxing game so he doesn't lose those exchanges up close. I wouldn't say the rematch won't be close ... but I do think Jones will adjust more than Gus.
Brett (Mississippi)
does the hate that gsp gets for dominating his opponents and not finishing, come from fans knowing he is capable of finishing and choosing not to?
Brett Okamoto (1:52 PM)
I would say yes. It's one thing to try and finish guys but only get decisions ... it's another to be in top position for basically 25 MINUTES and not really hurt the guy or threaten to choke him out. Like, if you're the champ, and you're possibly the No. 1 fighter in the world ... why can't you finish Dan Hardy within a 25 minute fight? You know? I don't really criticize the guy, a win is a win to me, but I understand why fans do.
Studebaker (NJ)
Glover-Gus, 3 rounder. Who wins?
Brett Okamoto (1:52 PM)
Gus.
connery (boston)
Could a rival (Gustafsson) benefit Jones and his career as a dominant champ? Though different, I can't help but think of what Sonnen did for Silva...
Brett Okamoto (1:53 PM)
Yeah, Sonnen was different for Silva. Gustafsson will make Jones better and he'll add excitement to his list of one-sided wins. That's how Gustafsson will benefit Jones' career.
Matty-Ice (Detroit)
You illustrated one of the main points as to why I think GSP will beat Johnny. I think Johnny is going to be chasing him down with the left hand cocked back the whole fight looking for the KO. GSP is too good to make yourself one dimensional like that.
Brett Okamoto (1:54 PM)
I agree with that but ... like I've said, and this is why I've picked Johny ... I truly believe it will only take one to land.
Stan (Edison, NJ)
Hi Brett, do you think Gus' performance slows down the Jones to HW talk? Now that he came close to losing, there might be more interest in seeing how he does against Glover, Davis, Gus again, etc. Also, any word on ben Askren's future?
Brett Okamoto (1:56 PM)
No doubt about it and I'm happy about that. Why are we in such a hurry to force a 26-year-old out of his division???? It makes no sense. I get it, we want to see him challenged, but we all forget so easily HE'S JUST STARTING. Stop with the heavyweight talk, personally I can't stand it. He's a light heavyweight right now. No word on Askren, last time I spoke to Dana about it he had no update, and it's just like the Alvarez situation where Bellator will have the opportunity to match an offer anyway ... so it could be awhile before we know Askren's future.
JD (VA)
We talk a lot about a fighter's ceiling, but I feel like Jones is a special case. Do you think we are currently watching him at his best or is there still potential for more from him?
Brett Okamoto (1:57 PM)
Definitely potential for more. He's not a perfect fighter. But he's got undeniable, incredible natural abilities -- including that intense will of a champion to win at all costs. Technique wise? He's probably like, 50 percent of what he could be.
Ken (ca.)
What does Gus do to improve his chances of winning in the rematch? He seems to think he needs to finish the champ to win.
Brett Okamoto (1:59 PM)
That's the thing, I'm not real sure. With Jones, I can point out a bunch of different things I think he needs to work on. With Gus ... he doesn't want to eat all those kicks but in all honesty, those kicks are near impossible to avoid completely. He doesn't want to eat the elbows, but same deal. They're so random and unpredictable, you can't really prepare for them. He did everything he wanted to do in that fight, stuffed the takedowns, countered the kicks with punches, opened a cut in the first 20 seconds of the fight! ... and still lost. I'm sure his trainers can think of things to improve but in my eyes, Jones can make adjustments to that fight. Gus can only try to replicate it and hope Jones goes down this time.
Seaniebo (Oakland)
Quick Scenario: If the Jones-Gustaffson rematch happens and Jones wins, and D.C. beats Roy Nelson at UFC 166, do you see the UFC giving Glover vs D.C. to determine the #1 contender while Jones heals? Because if the rematch happens Jones probably won't happen until Summer..that's a long time on the sidelines for Glover
Brett Okamoto (2:01 PM)
Basically, if the rematch happens, yes Glover will have to fight in the meantime ... and I think it would be Phil Davis. If DC beats Roy, DC can just take some time off and cut down to 205. So, the timing might work out anyway, because DC isn't going from 238 to 205 in a matter of a month. It will be a process.
Tom (Chicago)
Can you imagine what Jones could learn from training with someone like Silva for a few months? In other words, can you imagine what Silva could do in Jones's body?!
Brett Okamoto (2:02 PM)
There's plenty of time. Jones is a student of the game. He's learning. Silva wasn't doing what Jones is doing when he was 26.
James (CT)
Maybe it's just me, but I want Jones in a division with people who can reach his chin.
Brett Okamoto (2:03 PM)
Haha, it's not just you. But that's like saying, I want Demetrious Johnson in a division where he's not twice as fast as everyone. I want Peyton Manning in a league where defenses are as smart as he is. LeBron in a league where everyone is as athletic as him. You can't blame people for their natural gifts.
jay van jiz (p-town)
opening lines for a bone-gus rematch and a bones-glover fight?
Brett Okamoto (2:03 PM)
Hmmmm ...
Brett Okamoto (2:04 PM)
Jones -320, Gustafsson +275 ........ Jones -400, Glover 345.
Sean (Phoenix)
I feel like you hat me, Brett. You haven't answered a question of mine in months. What can I do to please you?!?!
Brett Okamoto (2:05 PM)
Send me money. Or ask a Colorado Rockies related question/gambling question.
Brett Okamoto (2:06 PM)
Which, by the way, shout out to one of my all-time favorites on the day of his final home game, Todd Helton. I'll miss that bearded saint with the gold glove at first.
jay van jiz (p-town)
with those numbers do you take Gus in the rematch? I really wanted to pull the trigger last week but wimped out at +700 for gus
Brett Okamoto (2:07 PM)
I don't know. Me, personally, probably not. I don't think I'd bet Gus in a rematch. With all due respect to him because wow, he's a great fighter, but I kinda feel like he had his one chance and Jones stole it back.
Fred (PA)
hendricks only has 10 mins to hit gsp, after that he is gassed and will be a bearded koscheck
Brett Okamoto (2:07 PM)
Fair point. Fair point.
Frank (Chi)
I really hope Jones stays at LHW for a while still.... I would love to see him fight Cormier.
Brett Okamoto (2:07 PM)
He will. And he will.
Miggy (Philly)
Ton a value in Jones with both those lines.
Brett Okamoto (2:08 PM)
I kinda feel the same way. We'll see how they come out. Maybe I'll ask my line-setting buddies what they would set them at.
Miggy (Philly)
Take the Eagles +10.5 versus your Broncos. Lock city!!!!
Brett Okamoto (2:08 PM)
There is no lock when it comes to betting against Denver right now, are you serious?
Sean (Phoenix)
Lol of course that's the post you choose. Fine, a personal check is in the mail. Will the Rockies make a move to bolster their bullpen over the offseason? I know nothing about gambling. And do you see Condit ever moving up to MW? He seems a bit lanky at WW and I feel like he's always going to struggle against the shorter, stockier wrestlers (GSP, Hendricks). I feel like he doesn't lose the leverage battle against ppl his height at 185. Your thoughts?
Brett Okamoto (2:10 PM)
Yes, hopefully they grab Jesse Crain ... grew up in Denver, FA this offseason. Learn things about gambling, it's wonderful. No, I don't ever see Condit moving up. Maybe as a desperation move very late in his career, but I don't think he translates well into fighting bigger guys. He's all about cardio, wearing guys out and he hates being taken down. Middleweights are gonna take him down more. Can you imagine Condit fighting a guy like Yushin Okami or Chael Sonnen? It would be terrible for Condit and he wouldn't be able to hurt those guys. He's WW all the way.
Walter White (Log Cabin)
Goodbye friends.
Brett Okamoto (2:11 PM)
Dude, let's end with my BB series' finale prediction. I will separate posts so those who haven't seen it, no spoiler.
Brett Okamoto (2:11 PM)

Can't wait for Sunday!!! That's it for this week, enjoy the weekend and I'll see you guys next week. Hit me up on Twitter anytime, @bokamotoESPN. Later.
