Chat with Davis Love III

Love is still active on Tour, playing in 15 events this season.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Thursday, PGA Tour golfer Davis Love III stops by to chat as he prepares to serve as an assistant captain on the U.S. Presidents Cup team at Muirfield Village Golf Club next week. Fred Couples will serve as the U.S. captain.
Love, @Love3d, a 20-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the 1997 PGA Championship, captained the 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup team. He is a six-time member of the U.S. Presidents Cup team and a four-time winner.
Leading into the competition, Love is working with Citi, the global partner of the Presidents Cup since 2009. Love worked with Citi to host a clinic with kids from The First Tee Manhattan chapter. First Tee helps create affordable access to golf for youth not otherwise exposed to the game. For more information check out Citi's website.
Send your questions now and join Love Thursday at 2 p.m. ET!

Paul (Boston)
how different is it playing in a presidents cup or ryder cup tournament as to how you usually play on a regular tour week?
Davis Love III (2:09 PM)
It's a lot more pressure playing for your county but at the same time it's a lot more fun. I enjoy playing with the guys, it's something we normally don't get to do.
David (Michigan)
what's the biggest thing you do to prepare for a tournament like this?
Davis Love III (2:09 PM)
The biggest thing is being mentally prepared for match play instead of stroke play.
Reid (Houston)
What are the kids' reactions when you try to show them golf for the first time?
Davis Love III (2:11 PM)
Kids are usually interested in hitting the ball but they aren't as interested in playing lots of holes in a row. It's easy to get them to want to hit the ball but they aren't usually excited about hitting the greens until they are older.
Tommy (Dallas)
how rewarding is it to be working with kids through the First Tee program?
Davis Love III (2:12 PM)
Always fun to get involved in junior golf especially with First Tee. This kids don't get the chance to see pros play as much as some other kids do. It's exciting to see them get excited about golf.
Kevin (FL)
As assistant captain, what's your role with the team?
Davis Love III (2:13 PM)
To do whatever the Fred Couples tells me to do. My job is to watch the players on the course and report to Fred on how they are doing so he can make the decision on who to play or how much one gets to play.
john (winston salem nc)
Davis....do you feel you can win another major? Also, who is your POY and why?
Davis Love III (2:15 PM)
I feel like I can complete. Ball striking wise I think I can win a major. I'm still working hard and hoping I can win one more. I would lean to Phil Mickelson because he won a major this year.
Peter (Boston)
what's the biggest key to winning next week?
Davis Love III (2:16 PM)
I think the US team needs to relax and have fun. If they are loose, free and having fun then I think they will do very well.
Andrew (WI)
After captaining a team last year, how tough will it be (or how big a relief) to not be making the decisions this time?
Davis Love III (2:23 PM)
It will be a lot easier because I won't have to make the big decisions. But I know my assistants helped me a lot last year and I know Fred will use Haas and I to help him in his decision making.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What is the Best & the Worst Golf Course that you have played on in your Golfing Career?
Davis Love III (2:23 PM)
The best on course on Tour might be Pebble Beach and the worst would be wherever my last high score was.
Lonny (Blaine, Mn)
Do you still have your custom chopper from OCC? What did you think about all the infighting with the Teutul's over the past seasons?
Davis Love III (2:24 PM)
I do but I donated it to the Kyle Petty Victory Junction Gang Camp to be auctioned off for charity.
Davis Love III (2:25 PM)
Thanks guys for all the great questions. Tune in Oct. 1-6 as The Presidents Cup get underway.
