Buzzmaster (11:40 AM)
I think Anderson will be here early to take your questions! Be sure to get them in early!
Buzzmaster (11:52 AM)
OK folks, Anderson will be here in a minute or two to take your questions!
Jeremy (Los Angeles)
Anderson, how does losing a fight affect your preparation for the next fight?
Anderson Silva (11:56 AM)
It doesn't effect me in any way.
David (DC)
how much longer do you plan on fighting?
Anderson Silva (11:57 AM)
Not too sure. Five, six years, I don't know.
Greg (DC)
You've been in the game a long time, so how has your training changed over that time?
Anderson Silva (11:57 AM)
It's evolved a lot. Evolution is a pretty natural process.
Jeremy Langford (Sarasota, FL)
Anderson, do you think you made a mistake fighting Chris in your usual "hands down taunting" style and will you make any adjustments to that in the rematch?
Anderson Silva (11:58 AM)
The mistake I made was I didn't take another step back. That is being addressed and worked on as we speak.
Marvin (Philippines)
Will Anderson Silva knock Weidman or submit him?
Anderson Silva (11:58 AM)
I'm not sure. I don't know.
Josh (Omaha, NE)
Anderson, what is your approach to this fight? Do you feel you got a good enough look at Chris in the last fight and can use that for prep?
Anderson Silva (11:59 AM)
Yeah, we're constantly learning.
max hamilton (utah)
How is your approach different when training for a rematch?
Anderson Silva (12:00 PM)
Not much has changed. It's the same way I prepared for the first time.
Billy H (Virginia)
Even though you've been in this sport for many years, do you still feel you are improving in certain aspects?
Anderson Silva (12:00 PM)
I believe my jiu jitsu.
Brian (Lewiston)
After such a great fight between Jones and Gustaffson, do you and Chris feel pressure to put on a great fight?
Anderson Silva (12:01 PM)
No.
Andrei (New York)
Anderson - what was the most enjoyable fight you've ever had in MMA?
Anderson Silva (12:01 PM)
My fight against Sakurai in Shooto when I won my first title.
Alfredo Miledi (El Paso TX)
Please ask them; Ronda Rousey or Miesha Tate?Thank you,
Anderson Silva (12:02 PM)
I don't know. Not too sure.
Jason (Marion Ohio)
Spider, if you were to win the rematch, would it be a more rewarding victory than when you beat Chael Sonnen (twice)?
Anderson Silva (12:02 PM)
I don't want to fight anyone in particular. I think it's the people who want to fight with me.
Nick (Corona) [via mobile]
Question for the Spider: Do you think you will keep your hands down in this upcoming fight?
Anderson Silva (12:03 PM)
No. No regrets from the last time.
Dan (Reno, Nevada)
Anderson... who is your favorite fighter to watch?
Anderson Silva (12:03 PM)
Bruce Lee.
Jacob (Maryland) [via mobile]
Could we expect to see some ground game out out you? Out-wrestle the wrestler?
Anderson Silva (12:03 PM)
Yeah, that's a possibility.
Robert (Fairmont) [via mobile]
Who is your favorite professional athlete?
Anderson Silva (12:04 PM)
LeBron James. Kobe Bryant. Serena Williams. Venus Williams.
Jason (Marion Ohio)
Spider, it is widely known that everyone loses at some point in their career or life. What are you doing to make sure it does not happen again?
Anderson Silva (12:05 PM)
You have to fall to get back up again. To stand back up again.
Brent (Kentucky)
Anderson, what kind of music gets you pumped up pre-fight?
Anderson Silva (12:05 PM)
To get pumped up, I just try to stay focused and concentrate on what my objective is.
Anderson Silva (12:06 PM)
I'd like to thank all of the fans. I hope everyone tunes in for the fight on Dec. 28.
Buzzmaster (12:06 PM)
Thanks Anderson!
Buzzmaster (12:06 PM)
Chris is up next!
Buzzmaster (12:07 PM)
Hang on folks. We'll get started in a couple of minutes!
Buzzmaster (12:07 PM)
Here he is!
Evan (NC)
How many hours a day do you train?
Chris Weidman (12:07 PM)
I don't really know the hours. I know the sessions. Usually 2-3 per day.
Kevin Hayward (Marietta, Georgia)
Chris, do you typically study tape of your next opponents previous fights to find weaknesses or are you the type of fighter who likes to figure things out on the fly in the cage?
Chris Weidman (12:08 PM)
I watch a couple of their fights, but I don't typically study them. I let my coaches do the studying.
Matt (NYC)
Chris, how are you coping with your house being destroyed by Sandy?
Chris Weidman (12:09 PM)
Still a lot of construction going on. My house is pretty much done, but I'm moving out soon. Still on LI, but a house away from the water.
jeff (texas)
chris thanks for knocking him out! Is your game plan going to differ because you know hell be moving forward?
Chris Weidman (12:09 PM)
No. I don't think he'll be moving forward on me. That'd be a mistake. If he does, though, I'm good.
Robby (Florida)
Chris, the only criticism I hear when someone says your name is your cardio... Have you been working on it as of late? Thank you.
Chris Weidman (12:10 PM)
My cardio is probably my biggest asset. I haven't shown it yet, haven't had the chance. But I'm excited to show it. In the gym, I'm known for my cardio.
Daniel (Kentucky)
Chris will you use your wrestling more this fight?
Chris Weidman (12:10 PM)
It depends. It depends on if he gives me a chance. If he does, I'm going to.
Brad (St. Louis)
What is the biggest change in your life since becoming champion?
Chris Weidman (12:11 PM)
Popularity and I'm going to be able to get out of the house that got hit by Sandy. Get some organization in my life.
Zak (Minneapolis)
Chris, having fought Anderson once, do you think you know his fighting style well enough to cope with it in the next fight?
Chris Weidman (12:11 PM)
I'm not worried about his style, I'm worried about my style. My focus is on me. The rest will take care of itself.
Jeremy (Los Angeles)
Chris, what did you learn from the first fight?
Chris Weidman (12:12 PM)
That all of the stuff I've been saying is true.
Nick (New York)
Chris, when you train, do you do anything outside of the gym to mix things up like climbing, biking, etc?
Chris Weidman (12:12 PM)
Yes. I do some biking. Swimming. Hill sprints. We like to change it up a lot.
Billy H (Virginia)
Where do you feel you have improved the most since the first fight?
Chris Weidman (12:13 PM)
Probably my striking.
Jacob (Maryland) [via mobile]
How does a punch from The Spider feel?
Chris Weidman (12:13 PM)
It felt good.
Zak (Minneapolis)
Will we see another kiss during the weighins?
Chris Weidman (12:13 PM)
Hopefully.
Bryan (Texas)
You think this bout will last longer than the first one?
Chris Weidman (12:14 PM)
No idea. I wish I could tell you. I know I'll be going for the finish from the second we touch gloves to the end. We'll see what happens.
Matt (NYC)
Pther than Silva who do you see as the greatest threat to your belt?
Chris Weidman (12:14 PM)
Just Silva right now.
Kyle (Arizona)
Chis, before the first fight Silva underestimated you and didnt respect you. How do you think he feels now that you beat him?
Chris Weidman (12:15 PM)
I think he respected me in the fight. He does those antics in every fight. It's his style. I think he respects me just as much.
William (Tuscaloosa, AL)
Will you look to take this to the gound quicker or do you know have confidence in your stand up agianst anderson
Chris Weidman (12:15 PM)
I'm very confident in standing. But wrestling is my base. If there's a chance to take it to the floor, I'm going to take it.
Costin (NC)
What about being champion now will change your mental approach to this bout?
Chris Weidman (12:16 PM)
Nope. I feel like I've got the same stuff to prove in this next fight. It could be one of the biggest fights of all time. I'm very motivated for it.
Robert (Fairmont) [via mobile]
Who is your favorite UFC fighter to watch?
Chris Weidman (12:16 PM)
Cain Velasquez.
Zak (Minneapolis)
How do you keep yourself so calm and cool while fighting somebody like silva. Does your psychology education help?
Chris Weidman (12:17 PM)
Yeah, that helps a lot. Knowing the right way to think to be a winner. But being the right place spiritually is the most important.
John M. (Egg Harbor City, NJ)
Chris, I really respect how grounded your Faith in Christ helps to keep you. Has your success made it harder to keep the routine that allowed for you to become a champion?
Chris Weidman (12:17 PM)
It's always hard. It's a struggle. You just have to know that it makes you feel good when you're in the right place spiritually. It's hard sometimes to always do good, but it hasn't changed since I won the belt.
Daniel (Texas )
Chris, first off I want to congratulate you on that win, second I want to ask... do you think you can get lucky twice?
Chris Weidman (12:18 PM)
If I'm lucky.
Trent (FL)
How much did his antics actually bother you in the first fight ?
Chris Weidman (12:18 PM)
I was expecting it. But towards the end, towards the finish, it started pissing me off.
Tyler (Long Island)
Chris, any chance you can move weight classes either up or down in the furture?
Chris Weidman (12:19 PM)
Right now, I see myself fighting Silva. I don't have trouble making weight. I would never go down. That would never happen. But possibly one day moving up. If that's what the fans want to see. That's where the biggest challenges are.
Daniel (Kentucky)
Where is the weirdest place you have worn the belt?
Chris Weidman (12:20 PM)
I don't wear the belt too many places, but I put it in my bookbag when I go on these media trips. But the UFC people, Ryan, makes me take it.
Brad (St. Louis)
What do you think will be your biggest challenge in your upcoming fight?
Chris Weidman (12:21 PM)
Biggest challenge in this fight is the challenge every time: working hard every time I train, going into the cage healthy and keeping my confidence.
Harry (US)
Who did you feel won the Jones-Gus fight?
Chris Weidman (12:21 PM)
I need to rewatch it again, but first I thought Gus won.
Chris Weidman (12:22 PM)
I was at the fight and enjoying it. I thought he deserved it. There was more damage on Jones than Gus.
Chris Weidman (12:22 PM)
It was close.
Chris Weidman (12:23 PM)
I appreciate everybody who supports me. We do this for you. ChrisWeidman.com. Check it out.
