Matthew Berry (11:37 AM)
Hi gang! Thanks for stopping by! Mic-up on the time... I'm here till 12:30... let's go to it
Wes (CA)
Matt! Huge fan, but you're having an awful year predicting stuff. Good thing you're a good writer.
Matthew Berry (11:42 AM)
Another satisfied customer! I actually don't think I am. Not to get defensive, but the very idea that someone can predict the future with 100¬curacy is laughable. Most of the RB's taken in the first two rounds have gotten off to slow starts. You may be more aware of some of my misses because there's more attention on my stuff than other people but the year has been fine, espceically if you understand the idea behind Love Hate. I hit some, I've missed some. And the year is still young. I always encourage people to use me as a resource not an end all be all - think for yourself - and if you find someone who you feel steers you better, than that's the person you should read. Lots of good people out there, my friend.
MoJo (JAX)
Why do you like me? I don't even like me anymore.
Matthew Berry (11:43 AM)
It's brutal. JAX had 1st and goal at the 3 in a blow out game and gave MJD exactly 1 carry. 4 downs, couldn't convert and they let Gabbert throw it 3 times. I'm selling MJD for 50 cents on the dollar. THAT was a call I was dead wrong about.
Brett (Pittsburgh)
As a McFadden owner and now with his backup Reece hurt, do you think it would be wise to pick up Rashad Jennings immediately?
Matthew Berry (11:44 AM)
Yes, but I'm amazed you own DMC and didn't have his back-up to begin with
Nick (NY)
I have J. Cameron and Gronk and I can only play one each week (can't flex a TE in our league). Which one would you trade? Thanks!
Matthew Berry (11:45 AM)
Whichever one I could the most value for but honestly, I'd probably deal Gronk if it was even. Or wait till Gronk comes back.
Brenden (ny) [via mobile]
Hi Matthew I have a very weak rb 2. Who should I trust more out of these three... Starks, d Richardson and m ball? Thanks!
Matthew Berry (11:45 AM)
Richardson because at least he has the starting job, sort of. Ball can be dropped in 10 team leagues and Starks is banged up and behind Lacy
Ryan (CT)
Just finished the book, nice work TMR! What do I do with spiller and bowe? Bench, drop, trade?
Matthew Berry (11:46 AM)
Thanks. I'm holding Spiller and trading Bowe
Cabell (Raleigh NC)
Is Ray Rice a buy low? He seems to be suffering from a lack of leadership.
Matthew Berry (11:48 AM)
I believe so. Look, he got only 5 carries Sunday. 5. Their best offensive player and BALT ran just twice in the second half. And they lost. That's not going to continue. They'll start feeding him - he's the best offensive player they have and they're not stupid. Probably.
Lee (Nashville, ten)
Stafford or Kaepernick rest of season?
Matthew Berry (11:49 AM)
Stafford
Dylan (Scranton, PA)
Hey Matthew, you think Leveon Bell can keep up his prowess around the goal line from this week? That line still scares me. Gambled by starting him this week and it really paid off, trying to temper my expectations going forward.
Matthew Berry (11:50 AM)
I think that's the right course of action. Line is brutal. Think he's a low end RB2 for now. But better than what they have before. He actually ran hard and showed some burst - the TD's a re a bit flukey but as a Bell onwer in a 14 team dynasty lg, I'm encouraged by game 1.
Tom (Calif)
In a league with no specific TE cat, where does Cameron rank with WRs?
Matthew Berry (11:51 AM)
Somewhere in the 15-20 range
Andrew (DC)
Any clue what happened to Stevie Johnson out there yesterday? ESPN news blurbs haven't given a summary of his lackluster performance?
Matthew Berry (11:52 AM)
They made a concernted effort to take him out of the game. I haven't had a chance yet to re-watch that game, but when I was watching it, he was blanketed and Woods was in single coverage a lot.
Matthew Berry (11:52 AM)
I'm not worried about Stevie - have him as a WR3. Woods did play more snaps than him for 2nd straight game, FWIW
RL (Fort Lee, NJ)
How do you choose questions to be answered? I would think questions submitted during the chat are more likely to be answered than those submitted pre-chat.
Matthew Berry (11:54 AM)
Mostly just scroll through looking for topic that I think appeal to a lot of people... like, there are a ton of L Bell questions, so that's why I chosse the last one. Thousands get submitted so I try to read as many as I can quickly while still keeping chat moving... but that's why there's a delay sometimes. Also, I'm a slow typer.
Brian (NY)
Should I give Broyles another shot next week w/ Garcon and Vjax on byes, or look elsewhere?
Matthew Berry (11:54 AM)
Look elsewhere. Durham was more active and beyond Bush/Bell and CJ obviously, I don't trust anyone in that offense
Buzz (Philly)
Your thoughts on Tannehill/Wallace tonight. Thanks.
Matthew Berry (11:55 AM)
Decent not great games. Saints secondary better than given credit for
Ed (NY)
Is it time to cut ties with Spiller and move him? He is beyond frustrating!
Matthew Berry (11:58 AM)
I know, beleiev me, I get it. I was super high on him in the pre-season and so far.. not good. BUT luckily (hear me out) he'll probably miss Thursday's game. F JAx gets the start and hopefully he heals up and that gives them 10 days to hopefully get things right. Thought he ran hard vs BAL before he left. CIN in week 6 is tough but it eases up after that: MIA, NO, KC, PIT... you can run on all of them. I'm holding tight though I understand I might be in the minority
Mitch (Vermont)
I have Ridley-can't take it anymore. Is trading Ridley for Wilson a fair exchange of underperformers?
Matthew Berry (11:59 AM)
yes, that's fair.
Jimbo (NYC)
Russell Wilson ROS & any plans for another League appearance??
Matthew Berry (12:00 PM)
Wilson will get better - top 12 player, ultimately - and we've discussed another spot on the league but nothing firm as of yet. I think it'll happen - I want to do it and they want me back, so it's just figuring out plot
Rob (SLC)
Doug Martin?? You worried??
Matthew Berry (12:02 PM)
A little? Still feel he's a top ten RB but not a top 5 player overall the way he was being drafted. That team is a hot mess. Bet Schiano is fired sooner than later. But ultimately, AZ is a REALLY good run D (3rd in NFL before yesterday, no rush TD's allowed)... defenses will have to repect V Jax and Williams once healthy (Glennon was fine) ... MArtin will be allright. I'd be buying low rather than selling
Dan (Chicago)
Best WR waiver claim this week - Alshon Jeffery, Robert Woods or Nate Washington? Also, why did you respond to the question from the dude posing as MJD!? Did you forget your motto already? You're better than that. Thanks!
Matthew Berry (12:07 PM)
I did? Arghhhh! I did. Dang it. Why do I keep falling for that? I HATE that. The truth is I rarely look at the name, just the question to see if it's interesting - I'm scrolling quickly... but ugh. My bad. No more questions from people claiming to be players. I hate that.As for free agent WR...If you needed to start one every week, I'd go Washington, Jeffrey, Woods. Washington has the leats upside but figure to be part of the passing game every week and will get you most consisten points. If this is just an upsdie stash for bench, I go Jefferey, Woods, Washington
Matthew Berry (12:07 PM)

Nikkolai (Houston)
Pick up Woodhead?
Matthew Berry (12:09 PM)
I like him. Menioned him in Love Hate, mentioned him on FF Now as a top waiver wire pickup.... was 3rd in RB receptions before last week. The TD's are a bit flukely of course, but he's a big part of the passing game, great RB2 in PPR, and Mathews is both injury prone and not very good. Flex guy in standard leagues (if you want to play a RB in standard, I tend to go WR at flexz this year), RB2 in PPR
LD (Desperationville)
Loved the book, actually bought a couple extra for guys in my league! Ridley has been a huge let down and It seems as If I wasted a high pick on him.Had decent offers for him before but now his value is so low the only offer is Joique Bell. Do I bite? If not who should I target in a trade to get him off my roster?
Matthew Berry (12:11 PM)
Thanks. At this point, I'd rather hope he turns it around then sell him for Bell. Thought he ran hard last night - best I've seen him this year - and one thing missing about Gronk is that's he's a really good blocker. Getting him back helps the run game a big way (attention on him in defense and his blocking).
Joseph (Wichita, KS)
PLEASE say something about Dez's monster jump ball catch. It was amazing. And I still haven't received my book yet. TMR for President!
Matthew Berry (12:13 PM)
It was great. And yell at whoever you ordered your book from.
Matthew Berry (12:13 PM)
Dez is WR#2 rest of season after Calvin.
Mitchell (MD)
Murray looks good.. I guess that's not surprising since he always had.. but how worried are you about his "fragile" rep? If you had him on your team would you be actively looking to move him for someone more reliable to be out there 16 games or just sit back and enjoy it
Matthew Berry (12:14 PM)
I would have no problem selling high. I don't belive he plays all 16 games. He just runs too upright, the issues that have plagued him so for in his career haven't gon away. If nothing else, I would make sure I have Lance Dunbar on my team
Eric (Nj)
As to your earlier comment about McFadden I think the person with the question did handcuff him but with reece as I did which is now an obvious mistake. I think Jennings was overlooked as a backup betas of te decent job Reece did last year
Matthew Berry (12:15 PM)
fair
pat (baltimore)
First, let me tell you I am a ravens fan in Baltimore and there is a lot of talk on the radio about the rushing. Second, in a ppr, when amendola comes back, is edelman still even flex worthy?
Matthew Berry (12:18 PM)
I'm not surprised. I said on pod this morning that I bet local talk radio would go nuts about the lack of rushing. First, I'll believe Amendola is back for good when I see it. He'll probably be injured all year. Also, yes, I believe so on Edelman. We saw them together in game one... Edelman will be flex worthy in PPR when Amendola is back. Not so in standard
Cameron (Dallas)
You get a ton of PPR questions, it is a popular format, why doesn't ESPN do PPR rankings?
Matthew Berry (12:23 PM)
It is but not as pospualr as you think. Our standard game is BY FAR the most popualr game. If I had to guess, about 25% of users play PPR. Which is a lot but not the majority
Matthew Berry (12:23 PM)
That said... I agree, we should. I'll mention it.
Mike (NC)
David Wilson still buy low? Has a good matchup to start his coming out vs Philly....
Matthew Berry (12:25 PM)
Yeah, I still belive in his talent and though he looked decent yesterday vs KC. At some point (we're probably already there) the NYG reazlie this isn't their year and they have to see what they got in him - if he's the future or if they need to get a new guy next year. Jacobs and DaRel Scott isn't the answer, no matter what the question.
Bill (GA)
I never was a big muppet fan, but I started reading the script you posted and found I couldn't put it down. I went in thinking it would stink(no offense) but thought it was hilarious... Would you feel comfortable with L Bell as your RB2 in a 10 team league? I am getting lots of offers for friend of the podcast Giovani and am thinking about packaging him with Bowe for a upgrade at WR.
Matthew Berry (12:28 PM)
Uh... thanks? Got a lot of compliments on the Muppet Script. Thanks. You find the link on my Twitter feed, FAcebook or if you google it.I'd be ok with Bell as my #2 RB. Like idea of upgrade over Bowe at WR. But if Bell has more value than Bernard, I'd be okay with Gio as my RB2 and sell Bell.
Josh (FedEx Fieldish)
Roy Helu looked decent eh? Possible fantasy Value if Morris is out?
Matthew Berry (12:28 PM)
WASH on bye this week but if Morris were to miss significant time, he's be a top 12 back
Dylan (Lubbock)
Kenbrell Thompkins, Is he becoming a must start flex?
Matthew Berry (12:29 PM)
MUST flex? No. Is this legit? Yes. BRady likes him and I think it's Dobson that suffers when Amendola comes back, not him
Matt (CA)
C'MON BERRY, PLEASE, NEED YOUR HELP...In Fantasy Baseball, we have our league set at 200 starts max. Yet a few people were allowed to go beyond that in starts...How does ESPN decide which start is the "final" one, if you meet and go over the limit on the same day...And why does ESPN not automatically stop allowing starts when someone reaches 200...Our league is really competitive, and literally came down to the last day this year, but luckily this didn't matter (although im sure the ERA and WHIP were still incorrect)...I'm concerned about using ESPN in the future for this reason...
Matthew Berry (12:30 PM)
It's a technology thing and it's stated in the rules. As long as you are under the start lmit on the final day, you can start as many guys as you want precisely because of that probalem - can't determine which ones to keep / dismiss with most games having same start time. Known loophole that is addressed in rules.
Joe (Newport Beach)
Hello! Wallace or Hartline tonight in a ppr league? Have a great day!
Matthew Berry (12:32 PM)
PPR, I prefer Hartline but very close. But as always... your team, YOU should make the call YOU cna live with. Ok gang, thanks for stopping by. Good luck tonight and in week 5. I'll be on Monday Night Countdown tonight and then back at the podcast tomorrow morning. Peace out.
