Stephania Bell (3:12 PM)
Been at my desk with computer issues folks...sorry for the delay. Let's get right to your questions.
Ryan F. (Tulsa, OK) [via mobile]
Gut call, you think Chip Kelly slow plays Vick's recovery so he can roll out Foles one more time?
Stephania Bell (3:13 PM)
Ryan: Sounds like there are multiple variables at work, including Foles' strong play. VIck says he feels it when he tries to "burst" and even said he could use another week of rehab. Soooo...it's at least another week, for health, then we may be discussing performance.
Does Roddy White play this week.
Stephania Bell (3:14 PM)
Stan: Don't think so based on what we heard going into the bye (that it could be a few weeks) and then he was not at practice today.
Hey Stephania. What's the word on James Jones for week 7?
Stephania Bell (3:16 PM)
Clark: May go up to the weekend. PCL sprain and the early suggestion was that he might be able to go. I'd say only if it was the most mild of sprains would he go. Very tough as athletes feel instability after this and typically takes a few weeks. Would not plan on him but again, not official.
Stephania Bell (3:16 PM)
BTW: This just on Twitter from Vaughn McClure who covers the Falcons. White "hobbling around" the locker room. Not good.
What is the story with Amendola, does he play this week?
Stephania Bell (3:18 PM)
Stan: Concussion. You know the deal. Protocols with phases each player needs to pass through. We won't hear anything for sure before Weds. And then will be daily progressions...
Any concerns with Blackmon going forward with the groin injury?
Stephania Bell (3:19 PM)
Duane: Don't know that we can ignore that he has a groin strain but Jags' head coach Gus Bradley already saying he expects him to play. Shorts is down, probably for a few weeks, so resting Blackmon early in the week to get him back for Sunday will not be a surprise.
Is Randall Cobb droppable or will he be back for fantasy playoffs?
Stephania Bell (3:21 PM)
Tyler: He should be back for fantasy playoffs but remember the Packers' goal at that pont will presumably be for the real playoffs. In other words, they won't likely be pushing him and if it takes a little longer (like end of December into January), they'd wait.
Percy harvin return date: Week 9 - Are you taking the over or the under?
Stephania Bell (3:24 PM)
Griz: The over. This is Week 7 and he's back in Seattle but not practicing with the team yet (understandable given they have a Thursday game). He needs to get back to all football activities and ramp up running to include cutting...The last thing they want is him to come back and suffer some other injury because he rushed it. I think late Nov/early December most likely. He could beat it but I still think Wk 10 is earliest.
Stephania Bell (3:26 PM)
Just a follow-up on the Cobb question. We talk about what if it takes longer; there's also the possibility that it could take less time. If I have an IR slot or room on my bench, then I keep him and watch what happens around Wk 3-4. If he's not doing much of anything, then I'd drop but if he's pretty active in rehab and running, I'd keep.
Steven Jackson back this week?
Stephania Bell (3:27 PM)
Doug: Supposed to be. But he didn't practice today. I need to at least know he's running around in practice before I get excited about his return.
James (A giant peach)
Would you rather have Roddy White of Percy Harvin ROS given their injury situations? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (3:29 PM)
James: Interestingly, Harvin. White now has a second injury on top of the first which hasn't fully healed (at least as far as what we've seen). Harvin has been getting stronger, conditioning and had his issue surgically repaired. Might have to wait longer for Harvin but I like the direction his health is going.
Stephania, what are the chances that Crabtree comes back in week 11 and actually produces this year? Many thanks!!
Stephania Bell (3:31 PM)
Nate: Based on Harbaugh's comments and what he's been doing, it's certainly possible. They're talking mid to late November. My concern is that athletes will virtually always say they feel better a year later. Can he still be functional, productive even? Yes, but I think it takes some time and I'm betting he's not quite as explosive. Limited fantasy upside. Real team help but not as much fantasy help.
Thoughts on Gronk, doe he play this week?
Stephania Bell (3:33 PM)
Steve: At this point it's just not possible to even speculate. We're waiting on something that doesn't involve a physical measure or increased practice time. It's a getting together of the minds to all sign off - and that's partly when the athlete feels comfortable - and we can't say with any reasonable certainty - when that will be.
Although Calvin Johnson was active he didn't do much last week. How much longer til he is back to normal...is he a safe play week 7?
Stephania Bell (3:35 PM)
Kate: You're right. Clearly he was still bothered by the knee throughout the week but was a little better in practice so they let him go. Remember they haven't given us anything (like a diagnosis) to work with so we can only gauge how he's doing based on insights from practice. Probably won't truly know much more until he goes out and has a better game. Impossible to bench though.
Barney Stimpson (Legend... ary)
Cecil Shorts suiting up?
Stephania Bell (3:36 PM)
Don't see it. SC sprain and while it's stable, it's probably going to be a problem for a while. He was in a sling originally; had to unload the weight on that joint. Imagine we're talking 2-3 weeks or so.
Thoughts on Matt Ice since he has noone to throw to should I take a chance and get Foles
Stephania Bell (3:38 PM)
Beachbum: He's got Gonzalez and Douglas. And he'll be getting White back soon enough. We don't know how long Foles plays. If you pick him up for a week, this could be a good one but I'm not dumping Ryan.
Amendola follow-up, can he be dropped? Thanks for your input.
Stephania Bell (3:39 PM)
Michael: If you've had him this long, why drop him? No indication he misses more than a week with the concussion (if he misses that) - at least not yet - and time continues to help the groin issue. So no, not dropping now.
Jimmy Graham owners are trembling in their boots for this MRI. What's the word?
Stephania Bell (3:40 PM)
Tim: Saints not sharing those details but two of our Insiders reporting the team not overly concerned about the injury, suggesting he could return after their bye this week.
Stephania.. Did you end up holding on to your lead last night in your head to head matchup with Matthew Berry?
Stephania Bell (3:40 PM)
Duane: Sadly, no. Reggie Wayne no match for Woodhead and Novack.
Any update on Murray?
Stephania Bell (3:43 PM)
Dan: Only that it appears he's unlikely to play this week. Doesn't sound like the sprain is severe but still might be tough to put him back on the field a week later. Not ruled out yet but sounds like consensus in TX is that he's not likely to play. Assuming early impressions of a non-serious injury hold up, could be just a one week, maybe two, absence. Dunbar will miss another week as well.
Jonzo (State of Denial)
I "stashed" J.Stewart on my bench. Estimate on when he comes back? Do I drop for a guy like Keenan Allen?
Stephania Bell (3:44 PM)
Jonzo: Stewart eligible to come back now from PUP but he sounds iffy, not exactly encouraging after all this time. I'd be heading for Allen over JStew.
Can Fitz be productive on thursday night?
Stephania Bell (3:46 PM)
JR: Quite honestly he surprised me on that one big play last Sunday where he looked to be running just fine.Given that, I'm not as worried about him for Thursday BUT we are still on the bubble with the hamstring. Two separate injuries in the same muscle means he's at increased risk of re-injury.
Is M. Colston hurt by chance? He is absolutely killing me!!!
Stephania Bell (3:47 PM)
Pedro: The foot has been something he's been dealing with since the offseason but that wasn't the problem this past week. Just hasn't been great for fantasy. Brees going more to Graham (except this week).
Will Cobb be put on IR?
Stephania Bell (3:48 PM)
C onstantly J arred Spiller (NY)
Am I still limping in week 7? If so best RB in non ppr to target ROS--Moreno or Lacy?
Stephania Bell (3:50 PM)
Spiller still recovering. We won't really know until we see that "he's back" type of game. And the Bills continuing to use Jackson heavily. As far as the other, hard to not go Moreno with how he's being used.
What is up with David Wilson, will he be fantasy relevant again? Or is it time to stash Brown?
Stephania Bell (3:52 PM)
Sam: I think he could contribute but the big question is when. Probably a few weeks before he's back. And we expect Brown in Week 10. So Brown to me is the more attractive stash, with a more predictable recovery from his injury...and something to prove. Was always going to be 3rd down and (we suspected)goal-line guy. Prefer Brown.
Mike Williams was not mentioned in this chat last week and was a last minute scratch. Any progress?
Stephania Bell (3:56 PM)
Nate: That's because the hamstring injury he was listed on the injury report with was the same one he had the week BEFORE the bye. Compare his performance that week to VJax's and he was the far better of the two. No word of a big setback so it was definitely a bit of a surprise that he actually missed. No word from TB since gameday as to his health. Will potentially be a late week decision depending what he's able to do in practice.
JAMES (Kansas City)
How productive can Brandon Jacobs be going forward? What's his injury update?
Stephania Bell (3:57 PM)
James: Not sure he can keep up with the pace he set last week. Has a hamstring issue, reportedly mild, he's the healthiest of an unhealthy bunch so he gets time off early in the week. Expected to play.
Is Demarcus Ware's injury this week a boon to Foles' fantasy value?
Stephania Bell (3:58 PM)
Matt: It doesn't hurt. Sure, can only help, although not sure it changes it a ton.
Miles (Austin, TX)
Am I droppable? Sounds like my hamstring issues will last all season
Stephania Bell (3:59 PM)
Miles: I think we need to see explosiveness again to have any confidence. If I have space (and no good trade options), I'm keeping you because I think I can see better as you get your confidence back but I need to see something in the next two weeks.
4 o'clock know where your WR is at (Orlando)
A lot of WR injuries/nicks so need best non ppr replacement--Blackmon or Decker?
Stephania Bell (4:00 PM)
Hey Stephania! I just traded for Alfred Morris. Are his ribs still an issue? Thinking of trading away Pierce for Helu to handcuff him. Thanks!!
Stephania Bell (4:01 PM)
Bill: Morris is gine. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to pick up Helu for insurance.
Will RG3 return to form?
Stephania Bell (4:02 PM)
Stacy: Yes, already showing signs of it.
dougie fresh (Big D)
Live in Dallas but love the 9ers. I had Cobb. Who should I pick up, K Allen, Harry D, or Jerome Simpson. I have Shorts and gordon, and gordon has a bye in a coule of weeks. I'm RB fat but livin on the edge at WR. HELP PLEASE!
Stephania Bell (4:02 PM)
Allen first, Harry D next.
Stephania Bell (4:03 PM)
Thanks for coming everyone. Make those waiver wire pickups! And good luck in Week 7.
