Matthew Berry (11:03 AM)
Hi gang. Thanks for stopping by. Let's get to it.
What do you make of the way that the Pats are using Ridley, since the Pats looked a lot better when he was part of the offense? Or we will just never know since its Belichick?
Matthew Berry (11:06 AM)
Ultimately, we'll never know because it's Belichick but yes, the differance was notable. It was concerning to me that Blunt actually got a goal line carry (and then couldn't convert) before Ridley got his... Bolden getting the one earlier in the game. Ultimately, Ridley is a RB2 this year, but he could be so much more, which is the frustrating part.
Shady for Bush and L.Bell
Matthew Berry (11:07 AM)
Prefer Bush/Bell side. Bell is a concern because of how banged up PIT Line is but McCoy makes me nervous because of QB there - worried Barkley might be the guy for a while.
What's the deal with Sproles? It's like they aren't even trying to get him involved. You buying or selling ROS? (ppr league fwiw)
Matthew Berry (11:11 AM)
buying in a PPR league, selling in a standard. They are going to use him more than they have been BUT they're using Pierre Thomas a lot more and they spread it around so much. Part of Sproles appeal in recent years is how much they targeted him in the red zone, believe it or not. They're just not doing it this year.
Matt (South Carolina)
Deangelo Williams for Andre Johnson?
Matthew Berry (11:12 AM)
Prefer Andre. Not close.
Andrew F. (Memphis, TN)
Marvin Jones... What What What!?!? He has had three nice games in a row, is this guy for real or is this just another Ogletree situation?
Matthew Berry (11:16 AM)
Somewhere in between. Part of it is Dalton becoming a big passer, part of it is defensive attention to AJ Green. And part of it is legit. 8 red zone targets, he's caught 7 of them... Look, you've seen his best game of the year by far, obviously, BUT... he needs to owned in all leagues (obviously) and feel he's a WR3 going forward.
Joe P (Pembroke, MA)
Preparing for the playoffs, and with Colston becoming invisible, I am looking to sure up my WR and TE spots. Best chance I have is trading with the team that has Gronk and Jordan Reed. In a 0.5PPR, do you think Colston and Ellington would be too much for Reed? My other RB are Peterson, Lacy, Le'Veon and DeAngelo.
Matthew Berry (11:17 AM)
Yes, that's too much for Reed after Ellington's Sunday but yes, agree with the idea that you need to deal Colston
Matthew Berry (11:17 AM)
Also - you are correct that you have good RB depth
Is Marques Colston droppable? 12, 6, 7, 9, 1, 1, 1...
Matthew Berry (11:18 AM)
Yes. We dsicussed on pod this morning. Sad, but definitely droppable in 10 tm non keeper. Just not getting any looks
Matthew Berry (11:19 AM)
quality looks, I should say. Colston led team in targets but I watched a lot of that game - it's misleading. He's not an integral part of the offense.
Greg J (Ga)
HUGE TRADE question. Give Megatron and Chris Johnson for AP and Welker???
Matthew Berry (11:19 AM)
That's a fair trade. Think I prefer AP/Welker side
Thanks for having Sproles rated higher than Gordon for flex...that call worked out well!
Matthew Berry (11:23 AM)
Trying to decide what is sadder:That you're not bright enough to know I don't do flex ranks, that you're not bright enough to figure out whose ranks those were, when that person chats (if it's even an ESPN person) and go complain there, that you're not bright enough to figure out anything better to do with your time than to go complain about a prediction about the future that didn't pan out or that you're not bright enough to take some ownership of your own decision. Any votes for Sad BJ? I think it's a combo.
TMR - great call early on about Lacy - I have been reaping the benefits of his solid play since he came back from the concussion. Where do you see him ROS? Is he a top 10 back?
Matthew Berry (11:24 AM)
thanks and yes, if you were drafting today, he'd be a late first rounder for me.
Is Kenny Stills for real? Seems like he has good chemistry with Brees, can we expect more big fantasy days from Stills?
Matthew Berry (11:25 AM)
Sort of. Talent is legit, but this production can't be counted on. It was mostly the one big play, he didn't get a ton of targets.... boom or bust WR3 ROS
Pretty baffled about R. Randle's "performance". I still might win this week, but that was pretty bad. I will probably drop him for K. Wright from TEN.
Matthew Berry (11:29 AM)
Yeah that was a weird one. And I do like Wright going forward. But I would wait to see if NYG trade Nicks (unlikely but possible). There's more to what happened with Randle - we'll find out soon that either he was banged up or it was a disciplanary thing....He has some maturity issues but he is very talented.
Is Jordan Reed for real? I'd love to be able to trade Cameron if Reed will keep this up.
Matthew Berry (11:31 AM)
Yes, he is. They love him there, legit talent - great speed / size combo - top 7 TE the rest of the season
Will Gio benard turn things around this week?
Matthew Berry (11:33 AM)
I think so - the pass game is going so well, defenses will have to respect that more, which will open up the run game. Plus, Gio partof pass ganme... still a low end RB 2
John (On Chpt 4 of Book)
Can't put down your book. Love it. Let's get the obscure questions out of the way... David Nelson flying under the radar, any value there?
Matthew Berry (11:33 AM)
Hahaha. Thanks. I don't know that I'm trusting anyone in the Jets offense.
Brian (ESPN FFL)
What was that you said to Mort about Marvin Jones?
Matthew Berry (11:36 AM)
I said it was a good pick and that I thought he would have a really good game. Didn;t ecxpect this, of course, but pointed out Marvin Jones a few times on yesterday's show. Mort tried to pooh pooh it, but I was the one saying no, Marvin Jones has been good recently, and they like him there
Wow, Matt Barkley is killing McCoy's value. One would think even a veteran FA would be an improvement over noodle arm.
Matthew Berry (11:38 AM)
Yes, but he'll get a full week of getting all the first team reps and you expect them to lean on McCoy even more. So maybe his YPC goes down, but hopefully he makes up for it in volume.
Rich (Packer Country)
Do you even contemplate selling CJ81 high right now to get RB help if you also have AJ Green, Harry Douglas, and Terrance Williams, or just ride two of the best WRs in the game to what hopefully is a championship?
Matthew Berry (11:41 AM)
We discussed Calvin on pod this morning. If we were re-drafting today, we'd take AP, Charles and Lynch ahead of him and that was probably it. So if you get one of those guys, ok, but otherewise I'd ride with Calvin
Is Stacy going to exceed his low projection again tonight?
Matthew Berry (11:44 AM)
Feel he has a shot. I really like what I see from Stacy just from an eye test angle. Feel he'll get a ton of work tonight, so just from a volume stand point, he's got a shot
Does Ellington keep the job after the BYE?
Matthew Berry (11:45 AM)
I don't know he doesn't.
Etiquette question. My bro-lo's team has been inactive for a month or so. All of the sudden he becomes active yesterday and is going to beat me this week. If he fades again after this week. Fair or foul?
Matthew Berry (11:46 AM)
Have to ask why he suddenly became active and why he dropped out before...ultimately I don't have a problem with it. Better to be active than not.
Man, Brady has been bad. Any hope he'll put up Bradyesque numbers down the stretch?
Matthew Berry (11:52 AM)
Hope? Sure. Given his talent and track record, of course there's hope. Just not sure how much hope there is. Another guy we discussed this morning on the pod... Negatives: It's a so so schedule going forward, he does not look 100% comfortable, the run / pass ratio in the RZ is more skewed towards run than pass than it has been in the past. Positives: He just got Gronk back, yesterday was first game Gronk/Amendola played together, he's Tom Brady, they ARE scoring so maybe that's balance gets back closer to even or titls towards pass now with Grnk there...I'd have him as a top 12 QB the rest of the way, but I don't feel super confident about it
Jason (New York)
I have Stafford on Bye. Do you think Pryor can have a big game against the Eagles next week? Outside of that one run, he was awful
Matthew Berry (11:55 AM)
Yes, but Pryor's rushing keeps his floor fairly high. I think he'll be okay, actually. Nothing amazing but servicable.
Just finished the book, it was great. Would you trade Adrian Peterson for Aj Green and Alfred Morris in a .5 ppr keeper league?
Matthew Berry (11:56 AM)
Thanks. Yes, I would make that deal, especially in a keeper league given the age of all the players involved
Lamar Miller finally (FINALLY) got a legitimate workload. Think this continues or is it still a RBBC situation in Miami the rest of the way?
Matthew Berry (11:58 AM)
Think it's a 66/33 split in favor of Miller going forward but don't trust Miller (or Miami) more than a high end flex / low end RB 2
Austin (New York, NY)
Do you think James Jones comes back this week? If so, how much does that hurt Boykin?
Matthew Berry (11:58 AM)
Yes and not that much. We've seen that the GB offense can support 3 fantasy WR, especually with no Finley and now a legit run game. Boykin will be fine.
Can you expand a little on your answer to the Ellington question. In your opinion, should he be the featured back, even when Mendenhall returns?
Matthew Berry (12:00 PM)
Yes, he should be. They have said they don't want him to carry a huge workload, so I don't think you'll ever see him get more than 20 touches a game, but 15-18 toucheds a game for Ellington is totally fine.
Matthew Berry (12:01 PM)
Ok, gang. Gotta run. Thanks for stopping by and all the questions. Sorry I couldn't get to all of them. I'll try to answer more on Twitter (www.twitter.com/matthewberrytmr) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/matthewjberry)
