Stephania Bell (11:51 AM)
You know you're in for a long weekend when you realize you've gone to the wrong chat room. I was wondering why no one was responding. Now that I'm in the right place....helloooooo and Happy Friday!
Stephania, it sounds like Roddy White is much improved health-wise. What would you expect going forward?
Stephania Bell (11:54 AM)
Jimmy: I do think this could be (or at least he's approaching) the healthiest he's been this season. After all, he started off injured. Now with a few weeks midseason recovery under his belt, we should see far better productivity out of him. But not necessarily this week. FIrst week back after a hamstring strain and facing Seattle D (and Sherman covering him). But I like what he could bring in the final third of the season.
Do you believe Doug Martin will come back this year? If not is Mike James worth a pick up?
Stephania Bell (11:56 AM)
Nate: Reading the tea leaves, I think he will not. Now there could be a surprise since the team hasn't even ruled him out for this game Monday night. But the Tampa Bay Times reports a decision will be made by Monday and the team is leaning towards IR. With the team having such a poor season, the feeling is probably why bring him back unless he could truly function at a high level with low risk. So based on all that, yes, James definitely worth a pickup.
Hi Stephania,Thoughts on Arian Foster ROS? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (11:58 AM)
Erik: It's the first time I've been legitimately concerned about how his health could be affected going forward. The combo of the back and the hamstring is what has tipped the scales. No specific info out of Houston yet as to his condition but it at least makes him high risk for the foreseeable future.
Clint (Vero Beach)
Is Jimmy Graham going to be his usual red zone target this week, or is there a real chance he doesn't play?
Stephania Bell (11:59 AM)
Clint: Absolutely think he will be unless something goes backwards today. He played more snaps this past week than the week prior and it sounds like the "management" of the condition is going well.
Martin (New York, NY)
Thoughts on Andre Brown?
Stephania Bell (12:00 PM)
Martin: Love Andre Brown. Of course I loved him in the preseason and then he got hurt. Think he comes back strong but they will limit his exposure in the first game back. Really like him based on how valuable I think he is for them going forward.
Whats your opinion on starting Cutler this week?
Stephania Bell (12:04 PM)
Sean: I think we don't totally know what to expect BUT he has to be doing pretty well to sell to his coaches (and of course the medical staff) that he was ready to take the field. At less than 3 weeks since the injury he is not likely to be fully healed but he had to show he could be efficient as a QB and protect himself mobility-wise. Of course as the game progresses, it could become more difficult for him. I'd probably be willing to take a chance on him. This is an important game. But I would not be surprised if he struggled a bit,esp late.
Thoughts on Harvin? I kinda feel like week 11 will be his week. That way he gets the bye after his first week back in case hip does not react well to first game action.
Stephania Bell (12:08 PM)
Jeff: They're playing it close to the vest. I have maintained that I thought the Monday night game in December would be his first week, just after the bye, but reports were so overwhelmingly positive regarding how he looked, it seemed he would play sooner. But when he developed soreness after increasing the intensity of his workouts, they backed down. No way they rush him but we don't know precisely how much activity he's doing at this moment (team keeping it fairly quiet). You could be right, esp if they bring him out for limited packages which makes sense for his first appearance.
Zack stacy what is his status for this sunday..
Stephania Bell (12:08 PM)
Jim: Expect him to play.
Cecil shorts is he good for sunday.
Stephania Bell (12:08 PM)
AJ: As of right now, yes.
As an Ellington owner, I am curious if Mendenhall will play this week?
Stephania Bell (12:09 PM)
Scott: It's looking as if he will. The toe is not fully recovered so it's not as if he will carry the entire load. They will continue to use Ellington (How could they not?)but the division of workload is not clear.
Will he finally see the true CJ Spiller this weekend and for the ROS? Sounds like he is finally at or close to full health.
Stephania Bell (12:12 PM)
Marc: He's closer, but even he acknowledges that he's not 100 percent. Maybe not so much as far as injury but certainly from an explosiveness/quickness dynamic. Barring some in-game setback, should move forward positively from here.
Julius Thomas? All systems go?
Stephania Bell (12:14 PM)
Brad: Certainly appears like they plan to have him. Limited in practice early this week but that's consistent with how Denver manages their guys with ankle sprains (i.e. Welker). Expect him to play, maybe not 100% but not seeing this as a huge barrier to him having a solid day.
Jack (Viking Nation)
Is Jimmy Graham fully healthy? Should I trade him at the peak of his value?
Stephania Bell (12:16 PM)
Jack: Graham is not likely to be fully healthy for the ROS. But that doesn't mean he won't manage this foot issue and continue to be extremely productive. It could flare up. It might not. I'm not sure who else you have at the position and what your needs are to want to trade him; obviously those are the considerations. But I'm not trading him to unload him. Has shown he can play and score in the presence of this condition as is.
Worried about Dez Bryant being worth the start this week with back issues. Only other receiver option this week is Terrance Williams. Thoughts?
Stephania Bell (12:19 PM)
Josh: I think if you have both, then you wait until Sunday night. Obviously Dez's back is bothering him this weeek but we've seen this before and then we've seen him go out and have huge games. This is the type of thing where it could go wither way. The Cowboys not acting like they are concerned about his status. I expect him to play as of right now. And if he plays, he's hard to sit because he can deliver huge points off one big play. But if he ends up being a late scratch you can plug in Williams.
Would you start Ellington over Ray Rice this week?
Stephania Bell (12:21 PM)
Jack: Based on what we've seen so far, Ellington. Can't believe it's come to this.
Ben Tate... banged up this week against a stout D but would you play him over Steven Jackson?
Stephania Bell (12:22 PM)
Brian: Yes. Think there's a good chance Foster sits. Even if he doesn't expect Tate to get a fair amount of work (he had a strong workload last week and now he's had an extra week of healing time). Jackson hasn't done much of anything yet and faces Seattle who, granted, has given up plenty of rushing yards the last two weeks but I think that changes.
Ryan (I AM HERE EVERY WEEK! NEVER GET PICKED!)
Ryan Matthews will likely see little time with Woodhead being the receiver back.. Start Steven Jackson over him?
Stephania Bell (12:23 PM)
Ryan (THIS IS YOUR WEEK!): I would not. All the reasons I outlined in last comment. I would favor Mathews.
Jeff (Portland, ME)
Darren Sproles seems to have come back fast from his concussion.Any expected limitations this week? Still a solid flex play? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (12:26 PM)
Jeff: Yes, compared to many others he did. But I have to believe that has to do with how quickly his signs and symptoms must have resolved and his ability to advance through the protocol without any setbacks. If he practices on consecutive days (as he has) without setbacks then I don't expect any limitations Sunday. At least not due to his injury.
Your thoughts on ROS for Levon Bell and Zac Stacey. Who is the better option ROS.
Stephania Bell (12:27 PM)
Rob: Stacy. More reliance on him from his team.
Hello Steph, What exactly is Lynch's knee problem? Should his owners be concerned? Thanks and have a great weekend!
Stephania Bell (12:29 PM)
Stef: The team has not shared so no definitive diagnosis. Always concerned when a guy continues to show up on the injury report (and for a RB, knees in particular) BUT when that guy continues to be productive week-to-week and the team does not appear concerned about him missing time,l then I wouldn't panic.
Hey Stephania! Sounds like LFitz is finally 100% or as close as possible. Is that how you read it? thx
Stephania Bell (12:32 PM)
Fitzy: I would say he's at least close. No longer on the injury report indicates that he's not being limited in any aspect of practice, not receiving significant treatment. And most importantly, he's talked about how much better he feels. Athletes know when they shift to not focusing on the injury but focusing on the game.
Any news/update on McFadden? Projected timetable?
Stephania Bell (12:33 PM)
Dave: Not looking good for him. No practice Weds or Thurs. Still early in the west coast so we don't know if he'll do anything today but especially after a setback, hard to trust him this week. No timetable (although they'll call him day-to-day).
Is EJ Manuel the starter for the Bills this week?
Stephania Bell (12:33 PM)
John: THat is the official plan.
do you think for once Dallas will actually stick with running game (assuming not behind by more 10- 14 points in first half) painfully I have been starting Demarco Murray in games everyone says the Boys will run and voila - 50 pass attempts and 10 rushes - alice through the looking glass
Stephania Bell (12:34 PM)
pj: I'd like to think so...but they're playing the Saints. Imagine they will have to be throwing a lot. Don't think it means zero running game but it might mean moving off of it quickly.
These guys are kind of dependent on teammates' injuries and who comes back. Anquan Boldin or Harry Douglas ROS? THANKS!
Stephania Bell (12:38 PM)
Dan: Good question. I think Boldin is who I lean towards because I think Douglas' value will take a hit as White returns. Not terrible, but somewhat. Boldin will have (likely) Manningham on the field this week and in a few more, Crabtree. Neither is going to have a huge impact immediately (I don't believe) but will open up more opportunities for Boldin as they have to be accounted for (and V Davis for that matter). So I like Boldin as a volume receiver especially.
David (St Paul)
Worried about Dez and his back ROS? Should I try to trade McCoy for Megatron (I also have Forte and Lacy)?
Stephania Bell (12:39 PM)
David: With Forte and Lacy I would definitely try to make that trade if you can get it. I assume you have some backup running back depth. But Megatron in addition to Dez would be desirable.
Pablo (Santa Fe)
From past chats it seemed like you thought Vereen would be very useful right from the onset of eligibility. EK, Matthew and Chris Harris seem much more cloudy on it. Do you still feel Vereen will be an integral part of the NE offense starting next week? Thanks
Stephania Bell (12:44 PM)
Pablo: From a performance standpoint I trust Vereen out of the gate. The injury to his wrist did not keep him from his lower body conditioning. As far as how the Patriots will mix up the usage of their various backs, that gets a bit trickier. Assuming he bumps ahead of Bolden and I like the versatility he brings. Yes, I think he will be integrated in fairly quickly (not sure how that looks Week 11 but I don't expect it to take long).
Devin Brooks (Detroit)
steven jackson or andre Brown ( just coming back) please help
Stephania Bell (12:45 PM)
Devin: I like Brown primarily because I just haven't seen it yet from SJax. But Jackson will be on the field more. Probably more total yards. I expect Brown to catch a couple passes and (hopefully) get in the end zone.
Stephania Bell (12:46 PM)
Time for me to run. Good luck this weekend and see you next week!
