Chat with Ted Miller

Ted Miller (2:58 PM)
Greetings. Welcome to the Pac-12 chat. Fire away.
Kyle Whittingham (Rice Eccles (my laptop))
If we finish below .500 again this year, do I get another pass because of injuries?
Ted Miller (2:59 PM)
No, you get a pass because you're a good coach and Utah should be glad to have you.
Tom (The Beach)
Ted, what is the state of sports reporting as you see it? Lately Ive noticed the publications that Ive been reading have been more prone to incite flame wars rather than responsible reporting. These are local newspapers which are distributed nationally, behaving/writing like radio shock jocks. In my humble opinion, fanboyism is one thing, but journalism should have a modicum of class and professionalism. How say you? Are we headed down a slippery slope?
Ted Miller (3:01 PM)
My thought is you probably want the local guys to take care of your team. Just about every example of this so called INCITE FLAME WARS reporting ends up being legitimate among unbiased observers. I always ask for specific examples. And those examples tend to fall sort of shock jock journalism.
COUG (Seattle )
Will the Cougs go bowling this year?
Ted Miller (3:02 PM)
Kevin and I just picked them to beat Utah -- a tough call -- so that means yes. The challenging part might be finding an at-large bowl berth outside of the Pac-12 contracts. But I think the Cougs would slip in at 6-6.
Gowazzu02 (Leach 1-0 V Sark)
Teddy ballgame, I read the blog when im trying to kill time at the office. What do you do when your trying to kill time at the office?
Ted Miller (3:03 PM)
You read the Pac-12 blog when you are trying to bring enlightenment and general awesomeness into your brain. Not to kill time. I fight crime as a masked superhero when I'm trying to kill time.
I really think that Josh Huff and DeAnthony's comments downgrading the Rose Bowl are still from the fact they are disappointed in what could have been. Thoughts?
Elliot K (San Jose)
Will Sonny Dykes transform the Cal program to an elite one once again and if so how soon?
Ted Miller (3:13 PM)
What do you think of the journalistic extremism that happened after the Oregon/Stanford game? Certain people on ESPN were saying that this season was "totally wasted" and that the loss could "set the Ducks back years"...really? Alabama has lost a game the past two seasons and gone on to win national championships, due in part to the fact that they're a good team but also due to an inflated national ranking from the get-go that cushions them in case of a loss (but SEC bias aside) even great teams lose games and for someone to say that Oregon hasn't been great in almost all their games this year is mistaken, right?
Ted Miller (3:14 PM)
Where was the specific article saying this?
Who's your favorite non-ESPN college football writer?
Ted Miller (3:17 PM)
So how was your visit to B12 and KSU?
Ted Miller (3:18 PM)
I had a great time in Manhattan. Really cool place. And it was a beautiful day, temperatures in the 70s. Hoping I can get back there again.
If you want to catch up to Kevin you should have picked my bruins (yes I know we burned you at Stanford).
Jason (Monmouth, OR)
I heard Herbie say the loss could set the Ducks back years on national tv. It does seem a bit extreme to me too.
I'm blaming the chat problems on SEC hackers.
Ted Miller (3:21 PM)
as good as any choice.
Gowazzu02 (Leach 1-0 V Sark)
Teddy you are struggling today. User error or is the technology lashing out?
How hot is Sark's seat right now? They just lost two big recruits and two potential pitfall games against NW rivals and they have a very real possibility of another 7 win season. Add to it the excitement at WSU. UW can't be left behind..
Ted Miller (3:23 PM)
It's warming, but if the Huskies win out, he'll be on solid ground.
With Winston's aledged issues and the fact many people just don't like Johnny Football, do you think Mariota or McCarron may win the Heisman by default?
Ted Miller (3:24 PM)
I think Johnny football has a big game this weekend, and I'd rate him as the favorite right now. But Mariota and McCarron still have big stages upon which to make their case. If Manziel flops vs. LSU, a door certainly could open.
Sad Dawg (Can't take the next step)
Do the Dawgs or Beavers need this game more?
Brad (San Diego)
T-Dog: Coach Mora has been hinting at using MAGICJACK! as a decoy on offense, but not so much. Think it's been a setup for this weekend against ASU, especially with Jordon James coming back?
Mr. President (Washington DC)
Sorry Ted. I borrowed your programmers to help fix my own problems....
