KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
Megatron >>>>>>>>>>> Wallace
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Well, let's get a classic preliminary out of the way. Although last week they both had terrible fantasy football performances.
Magnum TA (Charlotte)
Hey KC, need your help! Starting Knowshon and thinking about starting Ball as well in a ppr league. Other options are Spiller, Rice, or Ivory. Am I crazy?
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
The man still has a killer mustache. Got Ball rated higher than those three so starting him is definitely not crazy.
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
Heads up, just turned on auto update.
Jimmy N (DC)
Sidge my man!!! Need some sage advice.... Kaepernick or Big Ben this week??
KC Joyner (4:03 PM)
Jimmy! Glad to see you back in the chat - it's been a while. Got Ben rated higher, as the Steelers pass game is starting to hit its stride.
The Great Malenko (Fla. Championship Wrestling Icon)
Mr.Joyner in a non ppr need best 2: Stacy,Bush,Lacy or Vereen? I worry about starting Bush and Lacy.
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
I believe he said the quote that has to be the all-time favorite for my brother and me - "Man cannot live on bread alone - he must have peanut butter!" It's Lacy and Bush if they are both good to go but that may not be clarified until Sunday.
Frank Drebbin (Police Station (In Heaven))
I don't understand what Megatron >>>>> Wallace means. Who do you like in a PPR Flex, H. Douglas, A. Ellington, or D. Amendola???
KC Joyner (4:06 PM)
It's a holdover from the NFL chats I do in the offseason. I wrote an article a few years back stating that, at the time, Wallace was as good or better than Megatron. One day a post came up saying Megatron > Wallace and I posted it. The next week it was >>. The following week >>>. Took on a life of its own. Douglas is the pick.
Mr.Kotter (James Buchanan High)
Would you start D.Brown or M.Ball over guys like Spiller, Rainey, J.Bell or Gerhart?
KC Joyner (4:08 PM)
Was just listening to Pulp Fiction while doing some work last night - Travolta came a long way from Welcome Back Kotter. Rainey is the highest rated this week.
Scott (it's my birthday)
I'm starting Rivers tonight to kick off my Championship match. I tried grabbing Gates but to no avail. I do have Green however. What are the chances the younger quicker green hooks up for a few grabs and a TD? Or should I just stay away and start Pitta? Thanks!
KC Joyner (4:09 PM)
Happy birthday! Start Pitta. Green went from being on the field nearly every snap two weeks ago to almost not being on the field at all this past week. Pitta will be a go to TE in the Baltimore offense.
Thor (Hammering out my lineup)
KC in standard 10 week 15----Brady or Luck and K.Allen or VJax?
KC Joyner (4:10 PM)
Speaking of Thor, got a question for all of you. This Saturday will be the first night Mrs. Scientist and I can sit down and watch a movie on DVD/Blu-Ray. Any suggestions for a good new movie? Brady over Luck, Allen over VJax (like Allen's matchup a lot).
What kind of matchup is Stacy looking at? New Orleans is susceptible to the run, but the Rams can be down 14 in the first quarter and throwing all day.
KC Joyner (4:11 PM)
Got NO rated as a yellow-rated run defense, meaning they are a solid D but not a daunting matchup. Still don't like St. Louis' chances overall and it keeps Stacy rated quite low this week.
Dr. Evil (From one scientist to another)
Do you think it will be a shootout tonight? Thinking of starting Keenan Allen because Rivers will have to throw a lot?? Just maybe..
KC Joyner (4:12 PM)
Yes, with the caveat that Thursday night games are often sluggish as can be. It's nuts to have Thursday games every week - teams are too worn out and it isn't like Thanksgiving where it is a special event and that makes up for the tiredness.
Don't watch "now you see me" the best trick in that was making my 6 bucks disapear! I need to start two of Ivory, Tate, Toby and Sproles, Thoughts? I don't feel great about any of them.
KC Joyner (4:13 PM)
One vote for a movie to avoid. Many thanks. Toby is the best out of that group if AP is a no go. Tate would be next, as his matchup is very favorable.
KC's biggest Fan (The ESPN variety, not Chiefs one)
In the slim chance AP actually plays, would he be significantly lower than his normal place in the ranks?
KC Joyner (4:14 PM)
It's why I try to stay away from chatting during Chiefs games - everyone uses KC as a shorthand for that club and it can get a bit confusing. Got Peterson rated as a RB2 this week if he plays.
Thanks for the Jacoby Jones advice last week especially in my return yardage league - HUGE! Any lower tier WRs you like this week based on CB matchups?
KC Joyner (4:15 PM)
Glad it worked out! One WR to consider is Rod Streater. Really like his CB matchup.
Is it true that Lacy is in a walking boot? If he doesnt play am I better off starting Starks or Fred Jackson?
KC Joyner (4:16 PM)
Haven't heard this but Lacy has been a big injury question mark all week so it wouldn't be a shock. If he's a no go, start Starks, as Jackson has a really tough run D matchup.
Lions fan (ann arbor)
Ok to drop Mccown now that Cutler has been named the starter? Also have luck. Could use some room to pick up Knile Davis to back up charles.
KC Joyner (4:17 PM)
Would keep McCown - if Cutler struggles, they will almost certainly consider putting McCown back in. Also a chance Cutler gets hurt again.
Ivan Putski (Poland)
I wrestled for 20 years with just one move (the hammer). Answer this for those of us in the consolation bracket: Keenum or Glennon as a second QB this week??
KC Joyner (4:18 PM)
Ivan Putski was a cheap knock off of The Mighty Igor (who got burned in the eye with a cigar far too many times). Tough call, got Keenum rated higher due to the Indy pass D.
Tom C. (Hollywood)
Not knowing what you've seen recently, I LOVED Oblivion! Pick one: Hilton, S.Smith, Streater.
KC Joyner (4:19 PM)
One vote for Oblivion. Many thanks. It's a toss up between Smith and Streater, would go with Smith since he's a more proven commodity.
Kyle (Parts Unknown)
Also, consider watching "The Way Way Back". It will ruin Steve Carell for you forever, not a horrible movie, and your wife will like it.EJ Manuel, Kirk Cousins or Eli Manning (16 team dynasty league, losting RGIII killed me)?
KC Joyner (4:20 PM)
We aren't the biggest Steve Carell fans (outside of his voiceover work) so getting a new angle on him could be a good thing. Manuel is the best of that trio (which isn't saying much - best of luck).
What do you think the chances are that Jeffery gets shadowed by Haden all day and Marshall gets all (or most) of the targets as a result? Been loving Jeffery (my 9th round pick!) but worried about this weekend, esp with Cutler coming back...
KC Joyner (4:21 PM)
Jeffery has been playing so well that it wouldn't be a shock to see Cleveland decide to stick with their regular defense rather than go to shadow coverage. Jeffery got your team this far, stick with him.
Good Ol JR (BBQ Sauce Factory)
Hello again KC! And thanks for getting me to the playoffs! BOOMER SOONER! BOOMER SOONER! Have 3 guys going tonight, so hoping to get off to a good lead, but am having trouble at flex... It's PPR, so who would you go with: Sproles, L Miller, J Jones or E Sanders?
KC Joyner (4:23 PM)
And to think I had Oklahoma State winning over Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner at Bedlam. Would go Sanders.
KC! You look like you have some pretty sweet hair? So, pick two for ROS. Pantene, Garnier and Selsun blue
KC Joyner (4:24 PM)
I take so much grief for that picture. Will be updating it this offseason.
THE GENIUS LANNY POFFO (FLORIDA)
MAN OF STEEL GREAT ON BLU RAY ...PPR...Do I play Woodhead tonight or wait and see if Gerhart starts? If i do wait and Gerhart doesnt start I have Mendenhall or Ellington. Also Golden tate or Eman Sanders? HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
KC Joyner (4:26 PM)
Many thanks for that one. Could be a winner with Mrs. Scientist. Gerhart will rate over Woodhead if AP is out, so play for upside. Sanders over Tate.
Ole Anderson (NC)
Now that Cutler has been named the starter.Do i roll with him and hope he doesn't get pulled for McCown?Or do I avoid Chicago situation and start Cousins?
KC Joyner (4:27 PM)
The best fourth Horseman. It just fit the storyline best because he was a cousin of Flair's and an uncle/brother/cousin of Arn Anderson (they never really did settle on what their familial relationship was supposed to be). Roll with Cutler - he's got Jeffery and Marshall and Forte, can't do much better than that.
Papa Smurf (Always blue-rated)
Who is my WR3 this week: Shorts, Amendola, or Sanders?
KC Joyner (4:28 PM)
This is true! Amendola rates highest - really like his matchup.
Since Josh Gordon is 1 strike away from a significant ban, how would you rate him next year? A high green player or low level blue?
KC Joyner (4:29 PM)
Will put it this way - right not Gordon rates as a blue-rated WR for the rest of the season. Assuming there is no significant drop off, he'll have a blue rating to start next year but it will be with a big risk factor.
George (Floating in space with a taco)
Hey KC, big week (4 points down heading to round 2). Wilson or Rivers? The latest Star Trek just came out and both the wife and I enjoyed it.
KC Joyner (4:30 PM)
Mrs. Scientist and I are fans of TNG, have yet to try the new series. May have to watch the first one and then graduate to this one. Got Rivers rated over Wilson this week.
Mini-Me (Death Star Station)
Playoffs this week and the rankings are all over the places at various websites. Who do you think will have higher results: Rivers, Wilson, or Luck? Wish me luck or don't cry me a river. Nothing for Wilson.
KC Joyner (4:31 PM)
Mini-Me rules. Got Rivers rated highest this week.
Dusty Rhodes HardTimes Detroit ("Make it look good!")
ppr Gio or woodhead?
KC Joyner (4:32 PM)
J.J. Dillon insists that wasn't a mistake on their part - they meant to keep that line in. Says it was meant to be like "You've got this one shot, so make it good - because when I come back, I'm going to pay you back for it!" Didn't come across that way but that's what he says was the plan. Gio over Woodhead.
Joe (Timeshare hell)
Gio rated higher by most, but worth considering Ball tonight instead as a flex? Tempting since Denver could be up big early. Rainey also an option but don't love the matchup.
KC Joyner (4:33 PM)
The TFS tie breaking factor in this case was that Rainey should be a bell cow and Ball/Gio are both going to split carries with someone. That makes Rainey rate highest.
Man of Steel was rated one of the worst movies of the year by the AV club. Probably since superman was just extremely emo. Who do I start, Lacy or Andre Brown?
KC Joyner (4:35 PM)
Will keep that in mind. Many thanks. Lacy rates higher if he ends up playing but his start status looks like it could be in question. Will be a Sunday call but the safest pick now would be Brown.
I'm really torn over my Gronk replacement. Pitta and Delanie Walker seem to be the most popular choices. Which of the two do you prefer?
KC Joyner (4:36 PM)
Pitta. He'll be a centerpiece of the Ravens pass game.
KC the movie question is obvious being xmas time..HOME ALONE!!! Lost RG3 this week (is it really a loss?), Big Ben, Alex Smith or Cutler this week?
KC Joyner (4:37 PM)
That movie is one of my eldest son's favorite flicks ever. Got Smith rated highest, as he has been putting up 20-point games on a regular basis (and could have done so last week if they didn't scale things back after halftime).
Never mind newer movies - go old school. Watched Lawrence of Arabia a couple weeks ago. Doesn't get much better. Real question - how do I appease the FF Gods next year? Led my league in scoring - finished 8-6 and out of the playoffs. It's just not right...
KC Joyner (4:39 PM)
Good idea - will consider going old school. Just depends on what Mrs. Scientist wants to do. The FF Gods have a way of making things right over the long term - so be thankful for the high point total this year and know that bodes well for a strong 2014.
Perry the Platypus (Danville)
Need to beat Dr Doofenshmitz to reach the finals. Start Gerhart(if healthy), Andre Brown, or Ball to replace AP?
KC Joyner (4:41 PM)
The eldest doesn't watch that quite as much (he's in his early teens and his interests are starting to change) but we still get it on the TV whenever possible. Gerhart will rate highest on that list if AP doesn't go. Brown would be the second option.
Jared (Nort' Dakota)
Not one specific movie, but tough to beat the Christian Bale version Batman trilogy. Heath Ledger's Joker arguably best movie villain ever. Stevie Johnson or Rod Streater?
KC Joyner (4:42 PM)
Believe it or not, I've not seen that yet. I'm such a big fan of Frank Miller's Dark Knight series that I've held off watching the Heath Ledger Joker. Streater over Johnson.
Watch ELF! PPR flex: Garcon or Andre Brown? Am I crazy to trow in Jordy Cameron over both of them?
KC Joyner (4:44 PM)
Will say this - Mrs. Scientist and I are both looking forward to the new Ron Burgundy movie. Big Will Ferrell fans. Got Cameron rated highest out of that group.
Not sure if counts as new, but Silvers Lining Playbook was excellent. If that doesn't count, go with Gatsby. Both excellent. Starks over Alf/Garcon PPR? Smart to sit Vincent Jackson for Stacy and Keenan Allen in PPR?
KC Joyner (4:46 PM)
That could be a winner. Can't go wrong with any movie with Robert De Niro. Starks over Garcon/Alf if Lacy is out. Otherwise, Garcon. Would start Jackson over Stacy.
Hey KC, got burned last week with Oak D over KC D but I blame myself (at least I'm still alive this week). Gerhart, Rainey or Ellington for RB2 then one of the other guys or H. Douglas at flex? Standard league.
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
That Washington implosion certainly helped the Chiefs. Rainey unless AP is out, then start Gerhart. If AP is out, Rainey for flex. If AP is in and Rainey is at RB2, then go with Douglas at flex.
The wife and I just watched This is 40. Funny and depressing all at once. L. Bell or A. Brown in a .5ppr?
KC Joyner (4:48 PM)
Funny and depressing - an odd and yet appealing combination. Brown over Bell.
Does Jordy Nelson ever come back to life without Rodgers? Have him on the bench behind Keenan allen this week.
KC Joyner (4:50 PM)
GB can still make the playoffs even if Rodgers only plays 1-2 of the remaining games (which isn't a given) but for FFB purposes, don't anticipate Nelson coming back to life without AR under center. Start Allen.
Why do you answer ranking questions?
KC Joyner (4:51 PM)
You do realize this is a fantasy football chat, correct?
Ferris Bueller ((On my day off))
Starks (if Lacy is out) over Gerhart (if AP is out) and LeVeon Bell ... and which 2 of V Jax, Baldwin, Streater , Cruz?
KC Joyner (4:52 PM)
Talk about a classic movie. Starks over Gerhart if Lacy & AP are out (Starks matchup is a lot more favorable). VJax and Streater.
Stinko Malenko (Jericoholics Anonymous)
If you haven't watched the Dark Knight yet, end this chat right after you tell me who you start for PPR flex between Andre Brown, Fitzgerald, or Starks if Lacy is out and go watch it.
KC Joyner (4:53 PM)
Can't quite do that - got some FFB questions to answer on Twitter and then have an in-game chat in the TNF contest (hint to all - stop by and say hello!). Starks if Lacy is out, otherwise Fitz.
Jim Cornette ( TN)
No one will answer my question all week. Please help with a PPR question: Gerhart, Matthews or Gio? Thanks
KC Joyner (4:54 PM)
Just starting listening to JC's newest podcast - entertaining as always. Mathews wins that one.
Fish (Precinct 12)
Capt Miller wants to know if he should start Vereen, Stacy, or Andre Brown this week?
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
Could never get the correct spelling of Wojo's name. Should know that, as there is a HOFer with that same last name. Tell the Capt. that Vereen rates highest this week.
Desperate Househusband (SF CA!)
DESPERATE for your help. I am starting Knoshon. Who to start as other RB out of: R Bush, Ball, A Brown, R Matthews. Contemplating starting Knoshon AND Ball. Don't wanna be stuck holding the rope without a RB if Bush is ruled out Monday. Thoughts on who to start?!
KC Joyner (4:56 PM)
Have faith in Mathews - he's been putting up some really good numbers of late.
Ferris Bueller was a sociiopath (Principal Rooney)
Ferris lied, cheated, stole, emotionally blackmailed his friends, hacked computers and generally was a complete jerk. (If charming.) That aside, rank these TEs for the last two weeks of the season: Jared Cook, Jacob Tamme, LaDarious Green and Heath Miller.
KC Joyner (4:57 PM)
Well, yeah, that's one way to look at it. But Roddy Piper did all of those things and we all still like him (although I could never understand why he never went back to being a heel). Would take Miller out of that group.
Really think Rivers will get more then Wilson this week? That Giants matchup for Wilson is pretty tempting.
KC Joyner (4:58 PM)
The TNF factor is the biggest concern. Having noted this, barring the TNF blues, it should be a shootout-style game. That's why SD players and Rivers rate so high this week.
Desperate Cop (Michigan)
Yo KC! In between all these accident reports here in the great state of Michigan, think you could help me out? M. Ball tonight or wait to see if T. Gerhart is healthy enough to play? I have AP on my bench.... Thanks!
KC Joyner (5:00 PM)
Stay safe out there, Michiganders. Would say something about sending snow our way but the last time I did that, one chatter got incredibly upset about it. So we'll try to send some warm weather your way instead. If you can choose between AP and Gerhart, wait that situation out. Ball is still a backup and the better percentage play is to go with a starting RB.
DENVER GAME (DENVER)
If it's a shoot out...doesn't that limit Mathews?? Explain, since you speak highly of him.
KC Joyner (5:01 PM)
Not really. Shootout doesn't mean they won't run the ball and give him GL/RZ chances.
Paul Blart - Mall Cop, that is all...(you're welcome for a note to end the chat on)
KC Joyner (5:04 PM)
Mrs. Scientist and the kids watched that movie a couple of weeks back - believe they enjoyed it quite a lot. Well, that is a great note to end the chat on. Couple of other quick notes. Links to the TFS ESPN material are always posted on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. I'll be taking part in an in-game chat tonight on ESPN.com, so please stop by and say hey if you have some time. I'll also be hosting an ESPN.com FFB chat from 11AM-12 noon on Sunday, so stop there for some game day questions. Thanks again for all of the great questions and I hope to see you all here next week!
