Stephania bell (11:47 AM)
Happy Friday! Playoff time and the injury concerns are everywhere. What's on your mind?
Any injury news regarding the Vikings rbs? Who do you think will play?
Stephania bell (11:49 AM)
Jacob: waiting to hear how practice goes today but most likely scenario is no AP , Gerhart will try to go. Worry a bit about him aggravating the hamstring in game.
What's the latest on Cecil Shorts availability for Sunday?
Stephania bell (11:49 AM)
Chillidawg44: not sounding too good. Groin injury now worse than original. Might be tough for him to okay this week.
Brandon (Simi Valley, CA)
What's the news on MJDs injury? If he can't go is Todman a safe play in a PPR league?
Stephania bell (11:51 AM)
Brandon: Sticking with the Jags, may be tough for him too. He is supposedly going to try to practice today but I'm not convinced he'll be out there. Like Todman if he doesn't go.
Happy Holidays! Any word on Reggie Bush? Thanks
Stephania bell (11:54 AM)
DSO: No word yet on whether he's practicing today although he said he planned to do just that. He also said he plans to pay Monday. Not doubting that, more concerned about how this could affect him, especially as game progresses. It's a recent strain that was easily aggravated last week. Hard to count on him playing and running hard the entire game without an issue.
SB! Do you think Cutler makes it through the whole game? Would you go with him over Kaepernickl? Gracias.
Stephania bell (11:56 AM)
Chris: no way to predict this with any accuracy. I think they're prepared to leave him in the game (performance-wise) but obviously will remove him if injures himself. Biggest concern is leg getting caught in a pile. Think he'll function fine initially, just may get tougher as game goes on, certainly at risk for the big setback if leg gets twisted , esp with foot planted. I would go with Kap if it were me and just avoid.
Whats the latest on Gore, I know he's been banged up a bit
Stephania bell (11:58 AM)
Doug: I think banged up is the best description. Nothing that will keep him out of the game and he will run hard as he usually does regardless. May be a little more at risk to come out on more plays than usual or for an extended time if the ankle gets aggravated in game but he'd be hard to bench.
Brandon (Simi Valley, CA)
Eddie Lacy, think he plays this Sunday?
Stephania bell (11:59 AM)
Brandon: I think he does, based on the upbeat McCarthy report he got from the team medical staff. Supposed to try to test it in practice today but they sounded very encouraged last night.
Do you think Olsen plays w/ his questionable tag? Should I roll with him or Cameron in ppr?
Stephania bell (12:01 PM)
Paul: I've heard nothing so far hat would suggest Olsen will sit. He's been battling a foot injury off and on so I think they're managing his practice. Expect him to play. I like Cameron too but would lean towards Olsen.
McFadden going to play this week? If not, starting R Jennings with confidence after his concussion?
Stephania bell (12:04 PM)
JJ: sure doesn't appear that way. No practice so far for DMC. Jennings expected to play barring a setback. After concussion, always need to confirm status Sunday but I'd start Jennings.
any concern with Roddy's knee?
Stephania bell (12:05 PM)
Tyler: yes, in the sense that we finally got a healthier White back then this turns up. But so far doesn't appear to be something that will keep him from playing.
vic (no cal)
When you hear about torn ACL/MCLs, it usually involves 6-12 months before an athlete returns. Yet with Jonathan Stewart (RB - Carolina), he might be back in a week. What's the difference?
Stephania bell (12:08 PM)
Vic: isolated mcl, not surgical (at least not now), let it scar down for a bit, then he can return, may wear brace to protect inner knee. Ideally would have a few more weeks, but depending on the specifics of the injury, he can be functional enough to return end of reg season or playoffs.
Randy (Loma Linda)
Do you think Welker will play next week, they looked a little off without him on the field last night. Thanks!
Stephania bell (12:11 PM)
Randy: I do and here's why. He's doing TV interview which suggests his head is feeling pretty good. Obviously there are still big hurdles including tolerating rigorous cardio, then football activity, etc. but don't think they'd let him do a TV appearance if he was still experiencing symptoms.
Stephania Bell (12:12 PM)
FYI: This just in. MJD is not practicing today so it really makes me think he's unlikely to play Sunday.
Any concern with Michael Crabtree with the new ankle issues?
Stephania Bell (12:14 PM)
Mike: Yes, but not major ones. The 49es won't say which side it is. They do say it is not related to his Achilles (although if it were the same side, even if not a consequence of it I'd be more concerned about how it might affect him). I do hear he was moving quite well in practice yesterday. So while it's not great news, it doesn't appear like it's a big problem for him right now.
Smiley (Ville Platte)
Non injury question - Would you start Alfred Morris and Garcon with all the turmoil going on in the Redskins camp?
Stephania Bell (12:15 PM)
Smiley: I would start Morris. I'm less comfortable with Garcon but it really depends on my options. He'd be a flex for me.
What are the chances Jordan Reed gets shut down for the season?
Stephania Bell (12:16 PM)
Brad: Well, that report was floating out there that he had been. Our John Keim who covers the team reported that he checked with a team source who denied that Reed was shut down. He is continuing to have headache symptoms though and is being evaluated routinely...certainly not a fantasy option not.
In a league that still plays week 17, and my current last starting WR is Stevie Johnson could Harvin be the better play by then? Deep league so not going to find anything else out there.
Stephania Bell (12:18 PM)
Jeff: Not sure you can count on him by then. He's still not practicing and there's no way they utilize him heavily his first game back after the flareup he experienced last time. Don't think I'd be ready to count on him even if he's playing by Week 17.
Looks like McGahee still not practicing. Chances of him playing and if not, is OB a good play against the Bears that my 3 year old daughter could gain 100 yds on?
Stephania Bell (12:19 PM)
Tom: Assume McGahee will not play when not practicing this late in week due to concussion. Think Ogbonnaya is a decent RB2 play.
What is the status of Lamar Miller? Safe to play Thomas?
Stephania Bell (12:21 PM)
Mark: Been practicing in full on back to back days. Looks on track to play. Naturally comes with the check back before gametime caveat. But Thomas now a riskier play...and his ankle not 100% although he looked good last week.
Stephania, non injury question. How are you doing in your leagues? Alive for any titles?
Stephania Bell (12:22 PM)
William: Thank you for asking. Yes! Still in the mix for a title in one league. Going for overall points in another league (despite missing playoffs!)
Knowing Gerhardt, Bush, and Lacy might play, but risk of re-injury is a very real possibility what would you need to see from them in practice today to feel comfortable playin them over safer options with bad match-ups like Rainey or Rice?
Stephania Bell (12:24 PM)
BD: Put it this way. I choose Rainey and Rice over Gerhart and Bush. Muscle strains, both recent, worry me. They might get through the game fine but one of the easiest things to aggravate (as Bush proved last week!) is a muscle strain. Lacy proved he could play through the ankle even though you know he was hurting. Him I'd play.
Been trying to get this answered all week. Last try: Why weren't we better informed about the horrible conditions in Philly last week before it was too late to take Stafford out of lineups?
Stephania Bell (12:25 PM)
Jason: No one knew! The forecast was for light snow. What unfolded literally as the game was starting was a snow dump that no one expected.
Steph - Reply to Jason - I live in the area and we had no idea it was even going to snow....let alone that badly. There were flurries forecasted - nothing like what actually came down
0.5 ppr, pick 2: VJax, Edelman, Colston. I'm leaning toward sitting Colston, but VJax's matchup with SF is scaring me.
Stephania Bell (12:28 PM)
Ryan: This is tough. Edelman for sure. Jackson wories me a bit with the hamstring which was giving him pain during the game last week. SF bit of a tough matchup. Jackson is practicing today so expect him to play. Colston, despite being inconsistent, had a big day against the Panthers. Prob go with him.
Would you feel comfortable with Joique Bell as a flex play even if Bush plays?
Stephania Bell (12:29 PM)
Bruce (East TN)
With Pitta back, can you trust him to be your #1 TE? Should I drop Cameron or Olsen for him? Thanks!
Stephania Bell (12:31 PM)
Bruce: Don't know that I'm dropping those two. Ideally, I'd carry two on my roster. As impressive as Pitta was for his first game after a big injury and a long layoff, it's still a small sample size.
Cooper, R Jennings or Gerhart at FLEX this week (0.5 PPR)? Go with the one who's healthy (Cooper)?
Stephania Bell (12:33 PM)
Matt: Cooper's a lock to play. Although I like Jennings' chances, Cooper also has a nice matchup. Probably my choice.
Stuart (Brooklyn, NY)
Based on AP's past, why do you feel he won't play this week? I respect your opinion.
Stephania Bell (12:36 PM)
Stuart: It's only because of his past that I'm even holding out the slightest measure of uncertainty about him sitting. Midfoot sprains are serious, even without major structural damage. He hasn't practiced yet and despite being out of the boot, even if he goes today (we haven't heard yet), he's bound to be limited. Risk of further injury just seems too great. Part of letting him test a few things today may be to allow him to see for himself that his foot isn't ready to go. We'll see.
Stephania Bell (12:39 PM)
Update: Our Ben Goessling (covers Vikings) reporting Peterson and Gerhart going through RB drills...so at least they're testing out their legs. More updates to come.
Does Aaron Rodgers play vs. Cowboys?
Stephania Bell (12:41 PM)
Robert: Packers media just allowed in to facility. Plan is to update once access period ends. A great deal hinges on results of Rodgers CT scan. If healing not adequate, decision is made for him...and for us. If they clear him and he has a good day in practice, takes majority of reps, then he plays.
Weird question here: How hard is FULL practice, running sprints, mock plays against non contact defenses? I just wonder what kind of strenuous activity may be involved in standard FULL practices
Stephania Bell (12:43 PM)
Tom: It's obviously nothing close to games. But when they limit a player's reps, it's more of a clue to us that the teams are at least concerned about the potential for re-injury in that less strenuous situation (which then makes us more concerned about the injury or aggravation of injury potential in a game).
Hi Stephania, Thanks for all your insight and advice this year. I owe a lot of my playoff spot to you :) How much is Roddy's injury likely to hurt his production? I need 3 WR to start and I have Roddy, Harry D, TY, Anquan and Cordarelle and I'm really stuck on what to do. I have to face the guy who is probably going to clean up, so my chances for winning are not good. I need a miracle at WR. (non PPR)
Stephania Bell (12:47 PM)
Christine: You're welcome. Thanks for following here. I probably wouldn't be counting on Roddy for a miracle. That said, it would be hard to bench him against Washington (although who knows if Douglas might not get extra looks). I like Anquan, Roddy (or Harry )and I think I throw a toss-up to Cordarelle. Why not? Need a miracle :)
Stephania Bell (12:47 PM)
Have to run to do a radio spot! Good luck in the playoffs.
