Nick Friedell (1:02 PM)
What's going on everybody? Let's get this chat rolling ...
Are the Bulls closer to the team we saw last night or against the Spurs in the previous game?
Nick Friedell (1:05 PM)
Much closer to the team you saw last night. The Bulls are a very good, tough team. They believe in themselves and they play defense almost every night.
Does this Bulls team believe that they can win a Championship this season? Is there a reasonable chance for 2014?
Nick Friedell (1:13 PM)
Do people actually believe this? The Bulls have a lot of heart, but they don't have enough talent to win this year.
Howard (Lincoln Park)
Can the Bulls have the intensity they had last night for a full playoff series against Miami / Ind?
Nick Friedell (1:14 PM)
Allen Ivey (south carolina) [via mobile]
How is Thibs not 100% the front runner for Coach of the year? Granted Noah is playing inspired basketball but I believe it is Thibs system that makes Noah look good not the other way around. What are your thoughts?
Nick Friedell (1:17 PM)
If the Bulls keep winning -- I think Thibs will be the coach of the year.
Do you believe derrick rose will ever be back to 100 %. And if not what should the bulls do moving forward?
Nick Friedell (1:18 PM)
I believe he will be. I believe he will come back to being close to the player he used to be. I just don't know if he will be able to stay healthy for an entire season. Problem is neither does he. Nobody knows.
jeff (san antonio)
can you give us some insider observations on what you've seen from jimmer and if you feel he can be a contributor now and going forward?
Nick Friedell (1:20 PM)
The Bulls love the fact that Jimmer can shoot. He knocks down all kinds of shots in practice. I don't see him cracking the rotation now though unless somebody gets injured. I'm interested to see if Jimmer returns next year. If he can show he can play a little D, then I think he might fit in Chicago. The question is: How much money will other teams offer -- because the Bulls aren't going to offer much.
Which Bulls team is better? This years or last years?
Nick Friedell (1:23 PM)
Good question. I'd actually lean towards this year's version. Here's why: Gibson is better, Butler is better and has filled Deng's role defensively. Noah is better. Dunleavy is an upgrade. Hinrich has stayed healthy for the most part and Augustin makes the offense run better than Nate Robinson did.
Nick Friedell (1:26 PM)
Are there any non-Melo questions?
Do you think Arron Afflao would be a good fit?
Nick Friedell (1:28 PM)
He'd be a great fit -- but the Magic aren't going to give him up for nothing.
What do you think of Tony's Snell's progression and how far do your Orangemen go this March before getting bounced from the Big Dance?
Nick Friedell (1:31 PM)
Snell continues to improve -- but the key for him is that his confidence is growing. I think he's going to have a big impact on this team in the future -- unless he gets dealt in order to clear out more cap space this summer.
You said you expect that Rose will come back to close to what he used to be. Why? What did you see in the very little time he was back that makes you say this? Am asking because from what I saw was a rusty, every one clear out and get out of my way so I can miss driving the lane type of guy. Seemed to be playing out of control and not as "team" guy that the Bulls are without him.
Nick Friedell (1:35 PM)
He played 10 games -- I don't think that's enough time to judge how far into the comeback he was. My opinion comes from the fact that his teammates thought he had a better all-around game before he got hurt again. I think he has too much talent to become just an average player.
Why bring in a pure shooter like Jimmer and not play him when you have major outside shooting deficiencies? I love Thibs but his unwillingness to shake his lineups (with a team with no championship hopes) make no sense.
Nick Friedell (1:37 PM)
They're winning a lot of games. Why would they change now?
Constantine (Springfield) [via mobile]
Is Noah the Defensive Player of the Year?
Nick Friedell (1:38 PM)
I believe he will win the award if the Bulls keep winning.
I was also including pre season games. And what else are his team mates supposed to say? I know I'm in the minority, but I wonder what you think we could get in a trade for him? And also what we could do with the extra salary cap space? What that possibly make the Bulls a better over all team to compete for a championship?
Nick Friedell (1:40 PM)
Rose isn't going anywhere. Forget about a trade. Why would any team trade for someone who has had two surgeries?
Chris (The Loop)
What's the best song they play at the UC?
Nick Friedell (1:42 PM)
Return of the Mack. That's a great old school jam.
Cole Clancy [via mobile]
Do you think Noah deserves to be mentioned amongst Lebron and Durant for this years MVP?
Nick Friedell (1:44 PM)
Yes, but he won't get in one of those top spots. He's on the level below.
Is there somethig wrong with Taj? He is struggling offensively on the last few games.
Nick Friedell (1:45 PM)
I still don't think he's gotten over the food poisoning that hampered him over the last few days.
Ditka or Thibs?
Nick Friedell (1:45 PM)
To coach one game? Thibs. To eat cheeseburgers with and watch football? Ditka.
What's the progress on the Bulls new practice facility?
Nick Friedell (1:47 PM)
Seems to be looking better every time I go to the UC. It should be ready by next season.
Nick Friedell (1:48 PM)
All right, guys. I've got to get out of here and get to the airport. I will talk to you next week from Indy. That should be a hell of a game.
