Chat with Miami CB Antrel Rolle
![]() |
Rolle has been a consistent force in the Miami secondary, helping hold opposing offenses to just 15.8 points per game. The Hurricanes are 6-0 and currently slotted in third place in the current BCS standings.
Miami will head to North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels on Saturday (7 ET, ESPN). The game marks the first contest between Miami and North Carolina since 1963.

Hang tight folks, Antrel will be with us shortly!
Chris Zuyddyk (Rockford, MI)
Antrel, Do you believe that your team has enough offense, to remain undefeated and win the National Championship?
Antrel Rolle (12:04 PM)
Yes I do.
Tony (Tallahassee, FL)
Are the coaches planning on blitzing you like they have in the past? It was pretty effective against Rix, so why not?
Antrel Rolle (12:05 PM)
They plan to use me a lot more this coming weekend against NC in the blitz package.
Stuart Richmond, VA
It's truly an honor Antrel. I would like to say thank you for staying and giving us fans the chance to see you suit up for the U one last year. Now get that secondary together and shut some "people" up this weekend with a convincing win over UNC! Go Canes!
Antrel Rolle (12:06 PM)
Thanks Stuart, I'm going to do that!
Al, Maitland, FL
Hello Antrel, Congatulations on your great season. Last two games have shown the Canes' defense as being abnormally porous, what is it that has caused it to be so, and what adjustments do you think need to be done? Keep up the great plays!
Antrel Rolle (12:07 PM)
Basically, we just have a few minor adjustments. Guys have to communicate more and just do their job -- no more no less. When guys try to do too much, it kind of gets them out of place. If everybody just does their job, we'll be just fine.
Daniel (Houston)
'Trel, us Cane fans are champing at the bit waiting to see Hester play some CB. I read you once remarked he may have the most natural skill of any DB you've ever seen. I know it takes awhile to learn CB--how's he coming along?
Antrel Rolle (12:08 PM)
Hester is coming along just fine. He has to put a little more study time with the playbook and with the coaches learning the system, but once he does that, he is going to be an excellent CB.
Murali (New York, NY)
Antrel, How does the team feel about the disrespect it has been getting the past few weeks with everyone saying you guys didn't deserve the no.2 BCS ranking?
Antrel Rolle (12:09 PM)
We don't really worry about that. At the end of the season, everything will sort itself out. We are not in control of any polls, just the games at hand. That's what we worry about.
Les (Toronto)
Hey Antrel, how do you compare yourself with other cb's in the nation as far as your draft status? for example Marlin Jackson from Michigan as it seems you 2 could be the first off the board come spring. Thanks
Antrel Rolle (12:11 PM)
The only thing I can do is take care of my business on the field. Make great plays and then see what happens when draft time comes. I play 100% every down and then just hope for the best.
Ibis (Des Moines)
Antrel, thanks for staying for your senior year. Do you have any preference for playing CB or S in the pros?
Antrel Rolle (12:12 PM)
I would really like to play cornerback in the pros, but wherever a team needs me, that's where I'll play. I'm on their schedule, so though I would prefer CB, I'll do what they tell me, of course.
Todd (Gettysburg)
Antrel, one hot topic in college football is often if atheles should be paid, as one of the elite players in the nation whats your opinion?
Antrel Rolle (12:14 PM)
I don't think college is the time to be paid for your athletic abilities. It is a time to enjoy and learn and prepare for the professional level if you are lucky enough to make it that far. We get so much through grants and monthly checks and we as college athletes are taken care of. If you work hard at this level, later, you will be playing on Sundays and getting paid more than enough money.
Jamal (Beirut,Lebanon)
Nole Fans think that if they play the Canes again with Sexton at QB, they'd definitely win? What do you have say about that?
Antrel Rolle (12:15 PM)
That game is over and done with and there is no place for shoulda, coulda, wouldas. They had their chance, they should have done that a long time ago. Now it's too late.
E.T. (homestead, FL)
Hey Antrell an old friend here. I just wanted to say that i think you are doing a wonderful job, and thanks for staying your senior year i think you have made a difference. P.S. If you dont mind me asking do you have any old jerseys laying around.
Antrel Rolle (12:16 PM)
Hey E.T. Thanks ... sure, I have some old jerseys around.
Ricky Sixx (Boston)
Number 6 - Do you have a favorite NFL football team that you cheer for? And I know you love being at the U but if you absolutely had to transfer to another Division 1A school - where could you possibly see yourself playing at ??? FSU? UF? UGA? LSU? some other school? just curious ...
Antrel Rolle (12:18 PM)
I could probably see myself playing at a school like FSU. I don't really have a favorite NFL team, wherever there's Canes on the field, that's who I'm rooting for. IF they are on both sides of the ball, I cheer for both teams.
leroy (omaha)
As of right now there are 5 undefeated teams. How would you say we crown a national champion if they all five remain undefeated?
Antrel Rolle (12:20 PM)
That's a tough question. You can go by strength of schedule, but that hardly means anything at the collegiate level where any team can beat anybody on any given day. So, I don't really have the answer for you. With the way things are going, we can sit back and see how the national champion unfolds, I suppose.
E-KyzLe (tennessee)
hey all that i want to say is thanks for staying another year. I know that you can get that "D" focused like you did when the offense wasn't there, if you do that again I know that you will be more than deserving for at least that #2 spot in the BCS ranking. OH YEAH, please keep a Zero on the scoreboard just for them. Thanks
Antrel Rolle (12:23 PM)
Thank you. Thanks for all your questions and comments and support today, everybody. I have got to run. Tune in this weekend to ESPN2 at 7 pm ET on Saturday. Miami vs. UNC -- Go Canes!
