Buzzmaster (2:33 PM)
Hellooooooooo! Colby Genoway will be here shortly!
Buzzmaster (2:37 PM)
Just a reminder the Frozen Four kicks off on ESPN on Thursday at 2 ET with Colorado College vs. Denver! Minnesota-North Dakota follows at 7 ET!
Colby Genoway (2:38 PM)
Hey everyone! I'm ready for your questions!
Kerry (Grand Forks, ND)
This year you have been more of a sparkplug for the offense than in years past, what if anything have you changed in your game?
Colby Genoway (2:39 PM)
It just came with confidence. A couple bounces go your way and you get more confident.
Adam B. ( Jamestown , ND)
Colby, best of luck, what do you think your team will have to do to come away with a win against Minnesota?
Colby Genoway (2:40 PM)
Just stick to our gameplan and make them adjust. We can't let them set the tone of the game.
Bam Coon Rapids MN
Are you going to burn Kellan Briggs glove side at least once on Thursday?
Colby Genoway (2:40 PM)
I don't know if I'll be quite that lucky!
Chris, White Bear Lake, MN
How do you think your forwards match up against the gophers young defense?
Colby Genoway (2:41 PM)
They have a great defense. But we have good size up front which has been our strongest attribute. We tend to wear the opposing defense down and we hop to do the same with their young defense.
Phil (NDSU)
When is your univesity going to quit ducking us? GL this weekend.
Colby Genoway (2:42 PM)
I wasn't aware you had a hockey team. Maybe in the future we can give it a go.
Carson, Moorhead
If you would make the title game and face Denver, would it be hard for the team to restrain and not retaliate on Paukovich?
Colby Genoway (2:42 PM)
The team is pretty focuses. What's done is done. I don't think Robbie would want us to retaliate in that way. If it was up to him, he would just want us to win instead of trying to get redemption.
Mark (SIOUX FAN)
Has the team stayed focused since your last game? Is it difficult after the long week off?
Colby Genoway (2:43 PM)
It's a good time for us to get our bodies rested. It's way too exciting to forget what is going on. Every day is just one day closer to the big game. So focus isn't a problem right now.
Stenj (Chicago)
Colby, how is Robbie doing? He up and about?
Colby Genoway (2:44 PM)
Yeah. He is at the rink everyday and hanging out with us. He seems to be doing better every day. He's in good spirits.
Tom Conley, Massachusetts
Colby, does it bother you that Brian Canady is that much better looking than you?
Colby Genoway (2:44 PM)
Absolutely. I'll work on that.
Mike McArty (Balad Air Base, Iraq)
Do you think powerplays and special teams will decide outcome of the game?
Colby Genoway (2:45 PM)
I think those will have an impact. But I think the 5-on-5 will determine the game.
Matt (DC)
Any favorite hockey players growing up? Anyone you modeled your game after?
Colby Genoway (2:45 PM)
Steve Yzerman.
Bob (Denver, Colo.)
Who do you think will win the other semifinal game?
Colby Genoway (2:45 PM)
That's a coin flip! I have no idea. Both teams could win on any night. Just matters who plays better than night.
jason (moorhead)
What do you think was the turing point in the season for your team after a slow start?
Colby Genoway (2:46 PM)
I'd say the Wisconsin series.
Mike McArty (Balad Air Base, Iraq)
Colby, what are your thoughts of Jordan Parise's play in this tourney and in the WCHA these past 10 games or so?
Colby Genoway (2:47 PM)
I'm sure you know. He's unbelievable. Absolutely phenomenal. He pretty much sets the tone for our team.
PCM (Grand Forks, ND)
How is it that your team has gone from averaging under 3 goals a game in the regular season to 4.5 goals per game in the playoffs?
Colby Genoway (2:47 PM)
Confidence. Just some guys stepping forward. I think early on we were depending too much on 2-3 guys. Now it is a complete 4-line effort. We are scoring on all lines.
Clint (UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA)
Colby, tell us the truth. How much time does Hakstol spend in front of the mirror?
Colby Genoway (2:48 PM)
I think it is natural. All natural.
Paul (Grand Forks)
If you could pick a player from one of the other Frozen Four Teams to play on the Sioux Team, who would you take.
Colby Genoway (2:48 PM)
Wow. Too many good ones. There are just too many to name.
Craig (Fargo, ND)
Is the team going to try and avoid penalties by lightening up the physical game due to the # of pens that were issued during the east regionals, or are you guys gonna play just as you did all year and take the pens if they call em?
Colby Genoway (2:50 PM)
We know we have to adjust. That has been a part of our game all year. Our D adjusted pretty good. It's a focus thing. We just have to play our game. We know we will take some penalties though. Hopefully not as many as in Boston.
Evan (London, ON)
Where you gonna play next year?
Colby Genoway (2:50 PM)
I have no idea. Just waiting for Thursday!
Mario (Aurora, IL)
Cobly, who do you like tonight in the national championship game? Illinois or North Carolina?
Colby Genoway (2:51 PM)
My bracket went to crap already so I don't care much. But I'd say Illinois.
Stevo (Houston)
Do you think the NHL lockout or even termanation has given young hockey players any doubts as to how far they can go. Like, taken some goals (no pun intended) away from high school or college players to achiever greatness in the NHL?
Colby Genoway (2:52 PM)
I guess it depends on how you look at it, whether you think there will even be an NHL or not. It leaves a dark sport in some people's mind. I guess it just depends on who you approach it.
Bob (Minneapolis, MN)
Hi Colby...Bill Clement commented that NHL teams aren't as physical as UND...Is that what Sioux hockey is all about?
Colby Genoway (2:53 PM)
I don't know. We do have a lot of NHL caliber defenseman so I wouldn't doubt it.
John (Denver)
Why did you choose to come to the US to play college hockey? Is there competive college hockey in Canada?
Colby Genoway (2:54 PM)
It exists but it is not as competitive. We played Manitoba this year and beat them 7-2 or something like that. It's a little bit of an older league but not as competitive.
PCM (Grand Forks, ND)
How many goals do you think the Matt the Mean Greene Offensive Machine will score in the Frozen Four?
Colby Genoway (2:54 PM)
2 or 3. That's a lock.
Evan (London, ON)
Do you think the couple of years you played D in minor hockey made it easier for you to flourish on the point durin the PP? Seems like coaches are more reluctant to move a forward back in todays game.
Colby Genoway (2:55 PM)
That was a long time ago! You did your research. Yeah, I guess so.
Greg (Reno, NV)
Colby - The Gophers are a slight favorite in the sports books out here - any comments?
Colby Genoway (2:55 PM)
They can be favorites. We've been underdogs all year. We'll still go about our business.
Johnstone (Chicago)
were there any other sports you played growing up that you feel have helped in your athletic development??
Colby Genoway (2:56 PM)
I won Manitoba golf for 12 and unders! That was the only other sport I was good at.
Colby Genoway (2:56 PM)
I'd like to pursue a curling career in the future.
Paul (Grand Forks)
I heard that Matt Greene is going to leave UND and play in Canada next year. Is this just a rumor? I hope it's rumor !!!
Colby Genoway (2:57 PM)
That's just a rumor. People speculate all the time.
Matt (DC)
If you could deliver a clean cross-check to any person, living or dead, fictional or real...who would it be and why?
Colby Genoway (2:58 PM)
Gary Bettman! Thanks for the questions! You know who to cheer for on Thursday! Don't let me down!
Buzzmaster (2:59 PM)
Thanks, Colby! OK, next up is Denver's Matt Laatsch! He'll be here momentarily!
