Here we go!
Tyler Hansbrough (11:39 AM)
Hi, to you UNC fans I'm really excited about the national championship that we just won and I'm looking forward to coming and defending it!
Nick (Philly via Chapel Hill)
What was it like to be recruited by Coach Williams? and What number will you wear at Carolina and why?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:41 AM)
It was something special being recruited by Coach Williams because of the tradition at Carolina and all that he has done with great players coming through Kansas and UNC. I want to be No. 50 b/c that is the number my older brother wore ... and I wore that in high school, too, so hopefully I can wear that at Carolina and keep the family tradition alive.
Brent, High Point, North Carolina
First off, Tyler its great to have you on board as a Tarheel. I have been a fan all my life and my family attends all home games. The excitement that Coach Williams has brought back to The Hill is awesome. I loved the entire team this past season and I will love them if they all leave. What impact to you see yourself making next season if all the guys do leave for the draft? Could you jump right in and compete? Good luck next season and I hope you enjoy Chapel Hill as much as I do!
Tyler Hansbrough (11:42 AM)
If Sean and Marvin leave, I'll probably be able to step right in and have an impact immediately -- those are some big shoes to fill, but hopefully I can play to my potential and help the Tar Heels win another one.
De'Waun (Milwaukee, WI)
With all the talk of UNC early defections are you more excited now that their is a good oppurtunity that you could step right onto a National Championship team and be 'The Man'? Did you have this in mind when you selected UNC?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:44 AM)
No, I didn't really have this in mind when I decided on UNC. I went to Carolina to play for Coach Williams. If they had stayed, I was really looking forward to playing with them and learning from them.
Eilleen, MO
Tyler, Did you consider Duke? If so, why did you choose Carolina. If not, what other schools did you visit?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:45 AM)
Yes, I considered Duke, but I chose NC, again, for Coach Williams and his record for how he treats his players and especially what he is able to get out of players of my size. I also considered Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri and Florida very strongly during my recruitment.
Jason (Louisville, KY.)
Tyler I was so dissapointed to see that you did not sign with UK. I wish you well at UNC, but was wondering what was the deciding factor in why you chose UNC over UK?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:46 AM)
Kentucky was very close. They are a great school and I liked Coach Smith a lot, but I just decided on Carolina in the end.
Joseph (Greensboro, nc)
Tyler, are you ready to silence those Cameron Crazies?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:47 AM)
Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to playing at Duke and in front of their crowd. That will be very exciting, I can't wait to play there!
John (Charlotte, NC)
Hey Tyler, 31 points and 10 rebounds at Sunday's Nike Hoops Summitt -- nice job! What other high school senior really impressed you from there?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:48 AM)
I like Julian Wright (Chicago) a lot. He's so long and athletic I like playing with him. I like Louis Williams and John Brockman, too.
Billy (G'Boro North Carolina)
Tyler I'as you head into your freshman year at Carolina, do you right now plan on staying four years? Does the thought of an early exit even cross your mind yet?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:49 AM)
I mean, I plan on staying four years but if I'm a hot pick in the draft, then I'm going to go. Sure, it's something I do think of.
Jeff (Harrisburg, PA)
Tyler, what do you feel you need to improve on the most to take your game to the next level?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:50 AM)
My jump shot.
Dennis (Portland, NY)
Hey Tyler, do you think there should be a minimum age limit imposed in the NBA?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:51 AM)
No, I don't think they should do that. I mean, you know, NBA stars have jumped stright from high school -- LeBron, KG -- there is something to that. I think it's working the way it is and I don't think they should change it at all.
Nick (Philly via Chapel Hill)
Will you please go on the record now as saying that you Hate Duke?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:52 AM)
No, I don't hate Duke. I mean, when I play against them, not not going to be nice ... but I don't hate them.
Dean (Statesville, NC)
For those of us who haven't seen you yet, is there a player with similar skills and game that you can compare yourself to?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:52 AM)
Well, a lot of people say I play like Nick Collison.
Mark (Hayti, MO)
Tyler, after watching some of your games I am impressed with your intensity and maturity. Who gets the credit for this?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:53 AM)
Probably my coaches the last four years, I've learned so much from them. They taught me that.
Reese, Morristown NJ
Tyler, do you and the other incoming freshman plan on heading down to Chapel Hill for summer school and to begin working out together? What do you think of your fellow freshmen, Frasor, Ginyard and Green?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:55 AM)
I don't know when report down there, but I do know that everybody that I've talked to will be there for summer school. I met all the incoming freshman, I like all of them, they are all really cool people. I got to play with Bobby at the McDonalds game and Danny was on the other team. I look forward to playing with all those guys.
Jeff (Harrisburg, PA)
Who is your favorite player that you have looked up to in you rlife?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:55 AM)
My favorite player in the league is Dwyane Wade. I look up to him a lot. I like his style.
Ron (Shrewsbury)
Tyler whats your major going to be, and if not a NBA player what do you want to do?
Tyler Hansbrough (11:56 AM)
I haven't picked out a major yet, but if I wasn't going to play basketball, I would like to be .... a doctor.
Tyler Hansbrough (11:57 AM)
Thanks for the questions everybody, I enjoyed answering them and I look forward to see y'all in North Carolina!
The ShowGirl (11:57 AM)
Thanks Tyler!
