*** ***** *** ***** ***
Send in a question to any of our guests OR, if you don't have a question but just have something to say about the topic send in your comments right here and you could see them pop up on your TV screen on Saturday.
But since we can't wait until Saturday, we are going to have a special chat on Friday at 4 ET to start getting your feedback! Send your questions and comments now on the hot topics in sports!
No matter when or what you send us, be sure to include your name and your hometown!
YOU are SportsNation, we're checking YOUR PULSE. Sound off using the form below!
The ShowGirl (4:01 PM)
What up SportsNation!
John (Portland, ME)
A chat with Buzz AND ShowGirl on the same day?!?! What a country!
The ShowGirl (4:04 PM)
Hey, I'm all business. Today, i'm here with an agenda. Take out your syllabus -- today, you'll notice that we are all Pulse, all the time.
Jonathan (Chicago Il)
I don't get it, I mean, there are all different pulses on this thing. right?
The ShowGirl (4:06 PM)
Ha. I know, Jonathan. Right on. That's exactly why I'm here. There seems to be a little bit of confusion. There's really two Pulses ... there's the one you read every day right here on ESPN.com, and then, there's the new TV show on ESPNEWS (Saturdays 1-4ET) that is BASED on the other pulse, and on what YOU talk about and vote about all week.
Brian (Fairfax, VA)
(raising hand) I have a question Ms. Girl. Explain to us what is going on please.
The ShowGirl (4:08 PM)
OK, so, you guys are the ones who know the drill. You sit in here and chat with us all week -- for what?? To get your name on the computer screen and have your voice be heard. Yeah, that's cool. BUT, on Saturdays, if you do exactly what you usually do, we'll put you on TV.
SHAWN (SAN DIEGO, CA)
THE ONLY PULSE I KNOW OF IS IN MY BODY
The ShowGirl (4:08 PM)
Shawn must be the new kid to SportsNation. Shawn, go sign in at the main office.
Arthur Dent (Vogon Spaceship)
Do I have to change out of my bathrobe and wear a tie to participate?
The ShowGirl (4:09 PM)
Absolutely not, we encourage you to check your pulse in your bathrobe. It's Saturday!
Lindsey (SC)
sorry...not working on saturday...
The ShowGirl (4:11 PM)
What is this, you guys only type to us when you're at work?? C'mon, like you have anything better to do at 1 ET on Saturday. For you west coasters, roll outta bed, wake up your computer, tune in to ESPNEWS and poof, talk to us. SportsNation in bed! Keep the OJ off your keyboard.
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
I, however, am working on Saturday.
The ShowGirl (4:11 PM)
Frank, if your absent, I'll need a note from you mom.
Steve (Ithaca)
Or his commanding officer.
The ShowGirl (4:12 PM)
Yes, of course we'll accept a note from one of SportsNation's most honorable citizens -- Steve in Ithaca.
Matt (DC)
If I write good enough posts for The Pulse, do you think I can get a job writing for Page 2?
The ShowGirl (4:13 PM)
If I say I'll put in a good word for you at the deuce ... will you try it?
Steve (Ithaca)
Let the record show that ShowGirl can never criticize people's grammar vis a vis your/you're again.
The ShowGirl (4:15 PM)
Yo, self-proclaimed commanding officer. Watch you step. See, that's the beauty of SportsNation chats and The Pulse. You type in your rant as fast as you can, and little elves edit it before it hits TV. Brilliant!
Christine (Fresno)
Does the pulse know how little actual sports talk happens here
The ShowGirl (4:15 PM)
Nope.
The ShowGirl (4:16 PM)
But, on Saturday's they keep us on track. No Napoleon, no Canada, no pong, no iTunes -- just sports. So all you chat conservative folk will finally be in your element.
Mitchell (South Dakota)
So who will be on the show this week?
The ShowGirl (4:19 PM)
Good Q, Mitchell. This week, confirmed special guests include ESPN's Mike Massaro and driver Greg Biffle to whet your NASCAR appetite.
The ShowGirl (4:19 PM)
If that's not your bag (either) then I've got Cleveland Browns cornerback Gary Baxter popping in.
The ShowGirl (4:20 PM)
Miss hockey? Chicago Blackhawks forward Matthew Barbaby will be here.
The ShowGirl (4:21 PM)
We'll also talk Kentucky Derby ... and NBA playoffs, of course.
Mitchell (South Dakota)
So what if we're not going to be online tomorrow? Can I send in a question now? Like if Matthews Barnaby is keeping his fighting skills up to speed during the lockout?
The ShowGirl (4:23 PM)
Mitchell -- you're a bright guy. Not bad. I must admit, I have been underestimating South Dakota all these years. You got it, brother. Send in any questions or comments you've got NOW if you're not going to be online tomorrow. Then, you can just sit back and watch.
Eric (Greensboro,NC)
Do we also get to talk about Canada and Napolean Dynamite?
The ShowGirl (4:23 PM)
Eric, you know that our little secret.
Brian (Englewood, NJ)
If you're in the New York area, it's supposed to rain tomorrow and there is absolutely nothing on TV worth watching. Perfect chance to check out The Pulse.
The ShowGirl (4:23 PM)
Brian ... we are still looking for a marketing rep. Send me your digits after the chat.
The ShowGirl (4:24 PM)
No, seriously, it's a really cool show. Brian's right -- NY area or not, check this out, especially if you've never seen it before. It's fresh.
Christine (Fresno)
nothing on TV, The kentucky derby. You new yorkers can finally see the Boss win for a change
The ShowGirl (4:25 PM)
See, it's comments like this, Christine that we'd love to put on The Pulse tomorrow.
Dustin (Cleveland)
Are you kidding, ShowGirl. Something like that would get on the air?
The ShowGirl (4:25 PM)
Oh yeah. That's the safest bet you can place this weekend.
Chris (Richmond, VA)
Sweet!
Mike (Chi-town)
How long will the show be?
The ShowGirl (4:27 PM)
From 1-4 ET. You have three hours (!) to get me a brilliant, TV-worthy comment.
Jay (NY)
I'm so money tomorrow then if sarcasm and a quick wit can get you on the show. I'll have my own segment in a month's time.
Mike (IL)
Showgirl, You want to take some sweet jumps ?
The ShowGirl (4:28 PM)
I would... but I have to work.
John (Portland, ME)
Do you and Buzz actually get some face time on TV?
The ShowGirl (4:29 PM)
Absolutely not. We'd lose all intrigue if we actually had faces to you guys. C'mon. And that's suggesting we still have any left with you guys.
John (New Hampshire)
Sorry ShowGirl. I"m a little slow. I still don't get what the The Pulse is?
The ShowGirl (4:31 PM)
Alright John. Here's the skinny. It's kinda like ESPNEWS ... and it's kinda like Pop-Up Video ... and it's kinda like this chat room -- all mixed together like a fine cocktail.
Chris (Youngstown)
The Pulse? tommorow full of activities other than TV, Stop at the Home Depot, the mall, and you know if there is some time, Wal Mart, exciting stuff
The ShowGirl (4:34 PM)
Chris ... you'll be the only guy on your block who missed it. C'mon WalMart, Home Depot -- they're all open 24 hours anyway! Kick your feet up and tune in for three hours -- it won't kill you. You can get all those garden supplies toolbelts later on.
Steve (Ithaca)
I Tivoed it last week and Buzz told me to watch because I got a question on...so watch it if for no other reason than to see your name on national TV.
The ShowGirl (4:35 PM)
See that, Steve in Ithaca doesn't lie. He's like the SportsNation union rep. He says, tune in. You'll see your name and question or comment or whatever you send us on TV ... and everybody wins.
Matt (DC)
Chris was either poorly quoting Will Ferrell in Old School... or really is married and lame... I'm not sure which, but I'd appreciate clarification from Chris himself
The ShowGirl (4:37 PM)
Chris ... care to defend yourself?
Greg (Titletown USA)
I made the magazine with a question for Stu, so if I can get the TV, all I need to do is call talk radio to hit the sports geek trifecta
Eric (Greensboro,NC)
I didnt think that there was plant life in Youngstown to garden/mow/trim, The sun peaks thru the clouds once every 7 years.
The ShowGirl (4:39 PM)
Chris, they've got your number ... and they're on your zipcode, too. Speak up boy.
Christine (Fresno)
I think Chris's wife made him get off the computer
Chris (Youngstown)
Will Ferrell is not funny to me or my wife who orders me around by my neck.
The ShowGirl (4:41 PM)
Hahah. There he is. Write in now, tell your wife to watch tomorrow. Suprise her. Chicks dig guys whose comments are on ESPNEWS.
Chris (Richmond, VA)
(Phone ringing...)Mom: "Hello"Me: "Quick Mom! Put it on ESPNews!"Mom: "What?"Me: "Look Mom! Chris (Richmond, VA)! That's me!"Mom: "What are you talking about?"Me: "I don't know...Steve from Ithaca said it was cool..."
The ShowGirl (4:42 PM)
Mom's did it, too.
Steve (Ithaca)
Does that statement also apply to having comments on SN?
The ShowGirl (4:42 PM)
Steve, if so -- I have no doubt you are beating away the suitors with sticks.
Chris (Richmond, VA)
Marc Stein reports that Steve Nash will win the NBA MVP award. Celebrate Canada!
The ShowGirl (4:43 PM)
I'm sure we'll be talking about that tomorrow ... Steve Nash that is. Those comments would all be fine contributions to The PULSE.
Christine (Fresno)
I thought Canada was not allowed in SN
The ShowGirl (4:45 PM)
Oh no, we don't judge here. That's rule number one. We're a very all-embracing group in here. We just like to give Canadians a hard time ... those hosers.
Dante (Pitts)
Wait, i don't get what pop up video has to do with anything?
The ShowGirl (4:51 PM)
Well, The Pulse takes your questions for the guests, right? Right. BUT, it also takes your snarky little comments about what we're talking about and pops them up -- we call it Instant Input.
Todd Sonic (Tucson)
Pop Up Video! Bonus points to ShowGirl for a reference to that show - I miss it.
Matt (DC)
Pop up video... what an obscure reference
Chris (Philly)
What's a hoser?
The ShowGirl (4:52 PM)
Go watch Strange Brew. Don't say I never did anything for you.
CC (Texas)
Eh?
The ShowGirl (4:52 PM)
Wise guys.
Joe (Philly)
Showgirl, isn't it obvious you are trying to explain nuclear physics to cavemen?
The ShowGirl (4:53 PM)
Ugh. No. It's so simple, I think I've gone and made it tougher than it has to be.
Brian (Fairfax, VA)
SG, I think it's best to tell people to just watch it. It's pretty cool and we don't have to go out of our way to do anything special.
Steve (Ithaca)
If only the pulse had a snappy little scat-based theme song like Pop-Up Video. SG, maybe you should get to work on that.
The ShowGirl (4:55 PM)
I'll do what I can. You know me, Steve. I'm all for a good soundtrack -- to anything and everything, really. But first, I need to get YOU kids wearing the chat smarty pants to participate.
Mike (Chicago)
Next thing you know my chats with girls will be showing up on Fox!
The ShowGirl (4:56 PM)
Mike -- go to the principal's office. If he asked what you did, you tell him you said the F-word iny class.
Eric (Greensboro,NC)
Alright, SG its quitting time, i will be in the Pulse tommorow from 1-4 on ESPNNews(shameless plug)See ya.
The ShowGirl (4:57 PM)
Thanks Eric. See you tomorrow. Shall I give you your 10 bucks for that now or then?
Matt (DC)
I'll be there tomorrow Showgirl, I always feel bad for you guys on the weekend chats without any of the regulars
The ShowGirl (4:57 PM)
Now we're talking. Oops ... I just sent that post to my boss by accident.
Brian (Fairfax, VA)
Please tell me kissing up to you will not automatically get Eric on TV.
The ShowGirl (4:58 PM)
I cannot tell a lie.
Greg (Titletown USA)
Showgirl, I'll watch but please explain to me how I turn on the TV and computer at the same time
The ShowGirl (4:58 PM)
Listen, they've grasped the concept in North Dakota, which means, if you can ring a doorbell, you can figure it out, Greg.
Matt (DC)
It's not that I want the weekend chats to go away... it's just that you guys don't promote them enough, and then one day I check espn.com on a Sunday and bam! There's a chat going on... now that I know about the Pulse, I'll make a point to be here
The ShowGirl (5:00 PM)
Ha. Thanks Matt. Matt says we don't promote enough. Matt, tell that to Joe in Philly who says ...
Joe (Philly)
Showgirl, when did you become a shill for the Bristol suits? I think the real Showgirl has been replaced with a femot by the ESPN marketing department.
Brent (Atlanta)
Honestly, SGirl, I had never heard of the Pulse TV part of things until today.
Matt (DC)
I think Joe from Philly is just upset over FredEx leaving town
The ShowGirl (5:03 PM)
Fair enough. We'll just let him greive.
The ShowGirl (5:05 PM)
Alright, it's after 5 on Friday ... that means the attendance in this room is about to drop-off significantly. So, hopefully, we all learned a lesson this afternoon, right? The Pulse. Tomorrow. 1-4 ET. Be there or ...
Greg (Titletown USA)
Wait, now I'm all confused, I'm suppossed to watch something on TV with pop ups and somehow my thoughts will be beamed to the pop screens? Help.
The ShowGirl (5:06 PM)
Alright. Take notes ... Type it in right here -- now, later, tonight, tomorrow, during the show -- whatever your little hearts desires, and then, we pop you up on TV.
The ShowGirl (5:09 PM)
You can send in questions to any of the guests, or just comments about what they're talking about.
The ShowGirl (5:11 PM)
I'm glad we had this little chat. I expect mounds of comments and questions for Greg Biffle, Mike Massaro, Andy Katz, Marc Stein, Shira Springer, Gary Baxter, Matthew Barnaby -- you name it.
Joe (D.C.)
See you tomorrow, ShowGirl. Long time chattter ... firrst time viewer.
The ShowGirl (5:12 PM)
That's the spirit, Joe. I'll go easy on all you rookies, I promise.
The ShowGirl (5:12 PM)
I'm going home to rest up for The Pulse. We'll be back tomorrow morning before the show, and then, we'll be tuned in with y'all from 1-4 ET on ESPNews. Check your PULSE! See you Saturday!
Greg (Titletown USA)
Geez, no love for those stuck here after 5:(
The ShowGirl (5:15 PM)
I gave you a homework assignment, Greg. You can send me all your comments while everybody else is out there enjoying the weekend. Slackers.
The ShowGirl (5:17 PM)
Good night, SportsNation! See you Saturday for THE PULSE!
The PULSE (11:56 AM)
Alright! It's noon on Saturday and we're about an hour away from THE PULSE on ESPNEWS!
The PULSE (11:59 AM)
It's time to send in those questions for all of our guests today, including -- Greg Biffle, Andy Katz, Livan Hernandez, Marc Stein, Gary Baxter, Matthew Barnaby and more!
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
GOOD MORNING PULSE!!!!
The PULSE (12:05 PM)
Good morning, Scott! Glad to see you are wide away and ready to roll with us today! You're in the right place! We're in the production room now getting The Pulse all squared away. Stick with us this afternoon!
trevin (dewitt IA)
hey guys
The PULSE (12:07 PM)
Hey, hey Trevin. Glad to see IA is in the house today, too! Everybody gets a vote in SportsNation. Way to represent!
Greg(Titletown)
It is way too early to be up on a Saturday
The PULSE (12:15 PM)
Ah, c'mon. Stay in bed if you must, flip on the tube, take that trusty laptop into your pillowtop and relax!
JB (Shreveport, LA)
Give me a break Greg. I'm at work. The Pulse is the only thing I have to look forward to.
The PULSE (12:16 PM)
There you go, JB. Sorry you're working on a Saturday. We'll keep you occupied for a few hours.
JB (Shreveport, LA)
The Pulse is the only reason I don't go crazy having to work on Saturdays. Keep it up.
Ryan (New York,NY)
I have nothing to do since it's raining out hard. The pulse is the only on TV today.
Kirk (Portsmouth)
I'm psyched to be on The Pulse, but I don't get it. We just type in and they can use it on TV?
The PULSE (12:25 PM)
Yup, that's all there is to it. We take your emails for our guests and we take your comments and opinions for our pop-up instant inputs. It's all on your shoulders, SportsNation!
Dennis (ohio)
What the heck is sportsnation?
The PULSE (12:29 PM)
Ha. OK, good question. YOU are SportsNation, Dennis. You are a citizen of SportsNation. You've heard of Red Sox Nation -- the collection of Red Sox fans. There's RaiderNation and HuskyNation, you name it. But, above all these, there is SportsNation -- a collection of ALL sports fans. So, you are all citizens of SportsNation. This is the place on ESPN.com where all of y'all can get together and speak your mind.
The PULSE (12:29 PM)
Or ''check your pulse,'' if you will.
JB (Shreveport, LA)
Tune in during the week on ESPN.com and join in on the various chats Mon-Fri. Its hosted by ShowGirl and The Buzzmaster. Check it out while at work. We all do.
The PULSE (12:30 PM)
JB's right. We have chats that run everyday, Monday-Friday, about 9-5 ET and we just hang in here, chat, argue, discuss. Good times ... especially good for passing time at work, as JB so astutely points out.
Ryan (New York,NY)
Yep,This is a good spot to slack off from work.
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
Everybody sing it with me "We are Sportsnation".
Pete (Connecticut)
So what if your boss found you on the show? would he be eager to fire you or join you?
The PULSE (12:32 PM)
I'd like to think he'd scold you, retreat to his office, slam the door and hop in under a secret screen name so nobody would know he's doing the same thing!
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
Once you the newer viewers catch on to whats happening in here, you will be hooked, trust me. In 40 minutes you will see and it will fly by. Do not get frustrated, just keep typing comments.
The PULSE (12:35 PM)
Good point Scott. Thanks for that public service announcement, by the way. See, the citizens of SportsNation are pretty much one for all (until we start talking about teams, but I digress.) So, as Scott says, don't get frustrated, we do get thousands of emails and comments pouring in to us so if we don't use one of your brilliant gems, it's probably just b/c we didn't see it in here. Don't hate. Stay patience, keep trying, we'll find you.
JB (Shreveport, LA)
Who's on today? Any basketball?
The PULSE (12:37 PM)
Yep. We've got ESPN.com's own Andy Katz talking college hoops, NBA 05 Draft, etc and Marc Stein talking playoffs from Game 7, AND we've got Boston Celtics' beat writer at the OTHER Game 7. So, send in your questions and comments to all those folks now.
Pete (Connecticut)
Yeha baby, Celtics game 7
The PULSE (12:38 PM)
Big game tonight in Boston.
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
This kinda sucks. I don't have a tv in the office.
The PULSE (12:38 PM)
Well, call your mamma. Tell her to tape it. We'll tell you if you're on the air. The Pulse doesn't lie.
The PULSE (12:40 PM)
Alright folks, I have to step away for a second. We're 20 minutes away from The PULSE. Send in your questions and comments to our guests, I'll be back in a shake. For now, you better get a beverage, let the dog out, make a pit stop, grab a snack -- do it now, The Pulse is on the way!
JB (Shreveport, LA)
Hey, if you don't have a TV, click on the RADIO icon on espn.com and at the top you can click on ESPN News and listen to the broadcast.
The PULSE (12:45 PM)
JB, do you work here in Bristol, or what?? You know all of our tricks!
The PULSE (12:48 PM)
Alright, so, as the run-down is coming together, it looks like our first segment will be on Celtics-Pacers Game 7. Our guest on site is Boston beat writer Shira Springer. If you've got a question, address it to Shira. If you've got a comment on the series --hit me!
Ryan (New York,NY)
Any College Football guest today?
The PULSE (12:54 PM)
No college football, but we've got Gary Baxter, the Browns CB talking NFL, Cleveland and Kellen Winslow.
The PULSE (1:00 PM)
It's 1 ET ... here we go!
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
Lets get this party started!
James (McMinnville)
YES its the PULSE baby
Dayne (E Dublin, GA)
When will NASCAR be on tap?
The PULSE (1:04 PM)
We'll have Mike Massaro live from Darlington in about 15 minutes, I think. Then, later on, we've got Greg Biffle stopping in to take your questions, too. How 'bout that!
kevin (new york)
awesome
Keith (Baltimore)
Any Baseball on The Pulse today? And where's my Mint Julep?
The PULSE (1:10 PM)
Oh yeah .... OF COURSE, we'll talk about the Yankees in the basement, AND, Livan Hernandez will stop by to take your questions and comments!
The PULSE (1:11 PM)
As for your mint julep ... it's a commercial break, now's the time, baby!
Brandon (Philly)
Whoa! There was the first pop up thing. That's awesome!
Dean (Middletown, NY)
Do you think any driver(s) are more intimidated by Darlington than another. Who thrives on it best?
The PULSE (1:17 PM)
You're on TV, Dean!
Brian (Buffalo,NY)
NASCAR is more intresting with attitudes and crashes. As long as everyone is ok by days end.
Dirk (Denver)
What else can we write in about??
The PULSE (1:21 PM)
We need some questios for Blackhawk Matthew Barnaby who scored a hat-trick back in Mother's Day history.
The PULSE (1:21 PM)
If you miss hockey, now's your time.
The PULSE (1:22 PM)
We also need some MLB comments -- talk to me NL central fans.
The PULSE (1:23 PM)
But, right now, we're all Pacers-Celtics!
Joseph
I think the Celtics will win and beatthe Pistons people say they can't hang with the Pistons, but since aquiring Walker for the Celtics, they have split 1-1, both in overtime, one double OT, so these are two evenly matched teams.
Pat Corcoran (Wheaton, Illinois)
I think the Celtics will win at home today. With Paul Pierce, the # 6 man in scoring in the playoffs this year, will take over the game. The Celtics need a big boost of the bench from 2nd Runner up in the 6th Man award, Ricky Davis will need to shut down Reggie Miller, and not give him any open looks from the arc. I dont think Jermaine O'Neal will have a big game, only averaging 15 points in the series and 7 rebounds. Payton needs to run the floor and not let the Pacers Jamal Tinsley take over the point gaurd game, and do not let him run the floor. Celtics win big because of Paul Pierce
Sam (Lexington, MA)
Tonight is Reggie Miller's swan song. Make way for the Boston Youth Movement - Jefferson, Allen, and Delonte!
The PULSE (1:24 PM)
You're on TV, Sam!
Mike (Boston)
Do you feel like this will be a defining game for Paul Pierce in Boston, and if they lose will he be traded over the summer.
The PULSE (1:25 PM)
You're on, Mike!
Tim (Baltimore)
Reggie Miller will not let his team lose. He knows this is his last playoffs and will take his team all the way.
Dave (London)
i think the pacers will win i think reggie miller has way to much heart to let them lose in the first round of his last season in the nba i think if he needs to he will score 60 in order to win
Dayne (E Dublin, GA)
It matters not who wins tonight ...Detroit will beat em both in 5
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
Mr Shira: I know Boston has a good game 7 alltime record but you can't overlook Reggie Miller's game 7 performances.
The PULSE (1:26 PM)
You're on Scott!
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
I think that Indy should be fine as long as Tinsley isn't taking crunch time shots.
The PULSE (1:27 PM)
You too, Frank!
The PULSE (1:27 PM)
Nice job in that segment, SportsNation! That's what I'm talking about!
Chris (Youngstown)
Can we get Barnaby on now?
The PULSE (1:32 PM)
He's up next, Chris.
The PULSE (1:33 PM)
And we'll need some comments for Mr. Albert Pujols after that. Send 'em in now!
Brian (Buffalo, NY)
I remember when Barnaby scored the hat trick on Mothers Day. He was upset afterwards because he forgot to say Happy Mothers Day to says grandmother when he did an interview on tv.
Eric (Corry, PA)
The Rat (Barnaby) was Buffalo's greatest fighters. Trading him away was one of the teams worst move. Shame on Buffalo.
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
I'll bet that there are no walls in Matthew Barnaby's house. With all this spare time and energy he has knocked them all down.
rocky Getzville, NY
MAtt- We miss you in amherst. Get your agent to trade you back home!!!
The PULSE (1:43 PM)
You're on, Rocky!
The PULSE (1:44 PM)
The question is, does fighting make you like hockey more or less?
Dustin (Norwich, CT)
Fighting in hockey is so overrated. The hard core fans for hockey could care less about fighting and the people who dont watch hockey, dont tune in to watch a fight.
Jordan (Detroit)
Fighting in hockey is overrated... it takes away from all the great skill players on the ice and adds more tall goons who can't skate.
Brendan (Boston)
Fighting is overrated, the international games are far more fun to watch. And they play without fighting.
SHAWN (SAN DIEGO, CA)
THE ONLY THING I MISS ABOUT HOCKEY IS THE FIGHTING
Johnstone (Chicago)
I like Barnabys "lock themselves in a room" approach... a la 12 angry men.
Rocky Getzville,NY
Matt Barnaby- We miss you in Buffalo. Elmos still has a spot for you and Rob Ray. My question is: Do you feel that the WHA has a chance to make it even if the NHL comes back? Also any ideas on what Phil Esposito hidden agenda to hurt the WHA? it was said that he is starting his own league.
The PULSE (1:47 PM)
You're on Rocky!
The PULSE (1:47 PM)
You too, Eric!
Dayne (E Dublin, GA)
Matthew, Simple one..Can the NHL be saved?
The PULSE (1:47 PM)
Dayne, we've got you covered.
Johnstone (Chicago)
Its funny how the popularity in boxing has dropped so dramatically, but people miss hockey for the fighting.....
The PULSE (1:49 PM)
Good point there, Johnstone. Very good point. Alright folks, that'll do it for hockey. Next up is Pujols. I need some opinions from you. Pujols, Cards and NL Central thoughts -- send 'em in!
Tim (Balimore MD)
Besides Tejada, Pujols is the best player in the MLB Today
Johnstone (Chicago)
This is Pujols year to win a MVP. That guy has triple crown potential....
Tim (Baltimore MD)
Albert Pujols should ve been the MVP last year, though. He carried his team to the World Series.
Joe (Boston)
Yeah, then they got swept by my Sox!!!
Jake (Baltimore)
And THIS YEAR, your Sox are going to get knocked right out of the playoffs by our O's!!!
Shawn (CT)
Pujols is great both on and off the field
Kev (NYC)
Just a matter of a couple years before Pujols is named captain
Kev (NYC)
If Bonds had been out of the game for the last 5 years, Pujols would already have a closet full on MVP awards...
Brian (DC)
hey gary baxter is on today right
The PULSE (1:58 PM)
Yep, he's up next, I believe.
Kev (NYC)
Pujols scares me...he's so good
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
Pujols is a true all-around player with his fielding, hitting, and leadership.
The PULSE (2:02 PM)
Agreed, such a class act. Alright, your next assignment, SportsNation is to send in some questions and comments for Browns CB Gary Baxter.
The PULSE (2:04 PM)
Or, if you like options, I'll take some comments and questions for Andy Katz on this year's NBA Draft, and high school talent, ect. Also, NASCAR fans -- Greg Biffle is on the way!
The PULSE (2:15 PM)
Ooh, and, I nearly forgot, the little rookie Darren Sproles will be joining us a little later on this afternoon, too. I'll take questios and comments for Darren.
The PULSE (2:17 PM)
Gary Baxter is up now.
Tim (Baltimore)
Baxter is a traitor. The Ravens will take the Browns down this year.
The PULSE (2:17 PM)
You're on TV, Tim. See, the Pulse doesn't mess around! You say it, we air it!
Jordan Gill (Lambertville, Michigan)
The Browns added Edwards and Frye, but that will be no where near enough to get them anywhere this year.
The PULSE (2:19 PM)
Hope your mamma's watching Jordan. You're on TV.
Taylor (Bakersfield, CA)
Baxter isn't a traitor he went where the money was!!
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
He should expect a butt-whoopin. The Ravens are THE most improved team this year.
Joe (Vancouver)
Browns Super Bowl within 3 years! The Future is set
The PULSE (2:20 PM)
Joe, you miss hockey?
Dan (Dayton)
I feel that Baxter made the right destion on leaving Baltimore, I am not a browns fan but living in ohio i would like to see them win more games
Gage (LA)
How can he be a traitor, he just didn't wanna be the nickel corner on the ravens
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
The only reason a player would leave the Ravens to play for the Browns would be $$$$.
Darren Poole (Springfield ma)
now that randy moss is in the AFC are you looking for to covering him?
The PULSE (2:20 PM)
You're on Darren
Shawn (CT)
Kellen Winslow put a huge, unforgiveable dent in the Browns upcoming season.
The PULSE (2:21 PM)
You too, Shawn.
Tim (Baltimore, MD)
Baxter who do you think is better Ray Lewis or Ed Reed?
The PULSE (2:21 PM)
Tim, we take care of you, too.
Art (Mt. Pleasant, MI)
Cleveland Browns are two or three years away from being anywhere near a playoff threat.
Andy (Baltimore)
Gary wouldn't have been a nickel back in the Raven's D. We only added Rolle because Baxter was a traiter.
Tim (Baltimore)
Now that he answered my question, I love Baxter!
kelly (st. louis)
I LOVE THE PULSE!!!!!!!!
Tim (Baltimore)
Hey Pulse, would you tell Baxter that even though he went to a rival that Baltimore thanks him for his great years with us?
The PULSE (2:23 PM)
Will do, Tim. How sportsmanlike of you.
Ryan (New York,NY)
Who is up next?
The PULSE (2:24 PM)
Andy Katz will be talking NBA Draft.
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
Ok, draft stuff up next. I believe that Ryan Gomes is a top 5 player in this draft but might fall and be a sleeper pick. Who else does Andy think will be the sleepers in this draft?
The PULSE (2:25 PM)
Interesting projection, Frank, Andy will sound off shortly.
Tim (Baltimore)
Andrew Bogut has the skills to eventually be one of the best centers ever.
sam (boston)
Bogut will be a waste of a top pick if he goes #1.he has college level game that won't translate to the NBA
Brendan (Boston)
Anyone who passes on Bogut will regret it. He is the next Dirk-like player. 7 foot and can move.
Johnstone (Chicago)
Katz is great... The college sports encyclopedia
Robbie (Sebastian)
greg biffle up next right?
The PULSE (2:34 PM)
You got it.
Taylor (Bakersfield, CA)
Kevin Harvick is way better than Greg Biffle
Big Daddy (Bel Air, MD)
Greg Biffle is a very underated racer. GIVE HIM HIS PROPS!
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
If Greg Biffle could be a little more consistent he would be a contender for the Cup.
Ken and Bridget (Baltimore)
My wife and I love Greg Biffle. You gonna win the NEXTTELL CHAMPIONS THIS YEAR!!! GO GREG! What do you think ur chances are Mr. Biffle
Jordan (Lambertville)
Biffle rose pretty fast. A few years ago I remember thinking wow, that guy has a wierd last name.
The PULSE (2:38 PM)
I can only imagine what you're thinking now, Jordan.
Evan (Massillon, Ohio)
There's a race tonight?
The PULSE (2:38 PM)
Horses or cars, Evan. Take your pick.
Bob (springfield, MA)
Why would anyone watch nascar
Kevin (San Antonio)
Talledega was crazy. If that doesn't get you into NASCAR, nothing will!
Rob B. (Staten Island)
Mr. Biffle, what would you rather finsih your Nextel Cup career with. One championship or one Daytona 500 victory?
The PULSE (2:40 PM)
Biffle is talking to you Rob ... you too, Big Daddy.
Robbie (Sebastian)
I just like watching the final laps of the daytona 500
The PULSE (2:42 PM)
Fair enough, whatever does it for you, Robbie. Next up is Marc Stein talking NBA playoffs. He's at Game 7 in Dallas, send in your questions now.
The PULSE (2:42 PM)
I'll need some questions and comments for Livan Hernandez after that. Talk to me SportsNation!
Jonathon (River Falls,WI)
Who's up next?
The PULSE (2:43 PM)
ESPN.com's Marc Stein!
Drew (Tomball)
Tracy McGrady has had the biggest impact on the rockets.
Patrick (Charlstown MA)
The Mavs will take the series.yao is inconsistant and T-Mac is running on empty.
James (McMinnville)
Home teams will win today Celtics and the Mavericks
Zach (Lake Jackson)
No way the Mavs win tonight. They will self destruct at home as Houston takes it in 7.
Linc (Philadelphia)
The only way the Rockets will win is if Tracy scores 50 points and I don't see that happening
Zach (Miami, FL)
The Pacers are too resiliant to lose again. I also think that Nowitzki will explode and the Mavs will win.
Josh E (Cotati)
As I said, it will be the Mavs and Heat in the finals.
The PULSE (2:53 PM)
OK, we're changing gears to baseball. Livan Hernandez and the Nats, here we go!
Dale Davis (Baltimore)
Nationals are the biggest surprise in baseball. Even more than the Yankees losing. They have totally turned it around.
Jake (Ohio)
Livan is still underrated! Check their stats, he out plays Pavano, Schilling, Sheets, Randy J -- all of 'em!!
Joseph (D.C.)
Livan is just what this city needed! Baseball is back!
The PULSE (2:57 PM)
Jake and Joseph -- you're on TV!
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
Livan's 4-1 record is very impressive and a huge lift for the Nationals.
Johnstone (Chicago)
Livan has to be jealous of Orlandos nickname.... El Duque is classic.
Josh E (Cotati)
Baseball is back in D.C., and it's bigger than ever!!!
Kev (NYC)
Who's up next?
The PULSE (2:58 PM)
Next up os Darren Sproles and later author Ian O'Connor -- who wrote a book following Sebastian Telfair. He'll take questions on the high school to NBA transition.
The PULSE (2:58 PM)
How you guys doing?? It's 3 ET -- we've been rolling for two hours. Time flies, huh?!
Paul (Hudson,Ma)
This could be addicting..
Jordan (Lambertville)
Darren Sproles, the SD runningback!
The PULSE (3:00 PM)
You know it. What do you guys think, is this guy too small for the NFL, or what. I think he measured a whopping 5'5 at Chargers camp. Send the rookie your questions now!
Johnstone (Chicago)
Kenny Mayne has the most arbitrary segments..... Funny stuff.
The PULSE (3:06 PM)
Everybody loves Kenny.
Don (San Fran)
Sebastian Telfair will be here later?
The PULSE (3:09 PM)
Nope, it's autor Ian O'Connor. He's a USA Today columnist and he also appears on many rountable sports TV shows. He wrote the book -- The Jump on Sebastian Telfair .
The PULSE (3:10 PM)
I need your questions for Ian on high schools to the NBA and, of course, we've got Darren Sproles up next.
The PULSE (3:13 PM)
The man says he's 5'6 and a half!
Matt Kane (Bel Air, MD)
Darren Sproles is a monster. He will have an impact in the NFL.
rhett c (littlefield TX)
sproles will be the biggest bust this coming year he will be killed by defensive lines
humza (fayetteville)
you dont need to be tall to play football
Buck (Texas)
I guess you don't have to have a personality either. Darren -- speak!
The PULSE (3:15 PM)
OK, so he's not feeling so talkative today, evidently.
Scott (Tipp City, Ohio)
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog!
Dan (Vernon, CT)
If his line does its job, he won't have to worry about being short.
nick (bridgewater ma)
he is gonna do great with my man marty!!
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
Man does Darren sound nervous on TV!
Johnstone (Chicago)
He isnt paid to talk.....
JB (Shreveport, LA)
Poor guy. He seems like a deer caught in the headlights...
Braylin Scruggs
Darren will be the best running back in 5 years from this draft.Everyone will know his name
Matt Kane (Bel Air, MD)
You haven't shown any of our questions in forever
The PULSE (3:18 PM)
Easy. Darren didn't really seem in the mood to take your questions today. We'll take your questions in this next segment for author Ian O'Connor.
Mychael Phillips (Olathe, KS)
Darren won't have any trouble, he's a great kid and an even better running back!
jay (Salem)
i wish darren good luck with the chargers
The PULSE (3:22 PM)
As do we. On to Ian O'Connor we go. Send me your comments and questions about Sebastian Telfair or any other high school to NBA type topics.
Dan (Vernon, CT)
The chance will still be there in two years when you go to school for free. If the NBA isn't there, a solid life with a college degree is.
David (Los Angeles,CA)
Look at Kobe Bryant he came out of High School and he turned out okay.
Brendan (Harrisonburg, PA)
An age limit to the NBA will make the NBA, College and High School basketball all much better.
Jordan (Boston)
How can you even think of adding the age limit when players like Lebron have saved their respective teams almost by themselves?
Braylin (toledo ohio)
Some kids can't make it academically in college
Bristol, CT
Kids know if they are ready for the NBA or not. If they go to college and get hurt then what?
Johnstone (Chicago)
Most college basketball players with NBA talent dont major in physics..... Let them get a jump on their career whenever they can.
Matt (West Hartford,CT)
Will Sebastian Telfair ever be as good as his cousin Stephon Marbury?
The PULSE (3:27 PM)
You're on, Matt.
Dan (Vernon, CT)
Kobe came out, so did Stephen Jackson. It took Jackson until two years ago to really make it into the leauge after toiling in the developmental league and international ball. He would have been better served going to school.
Dan (Vernon, CT)
For every LeBron, KG, etc, there are dozens of Stephen Jackson who toil in the low levels and international ball. He would have been much better off going to school for a couple of years and playing a high level there.
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
I'll tell you what, the last place that Sebastion should have went was the Blazers.
Forrest (Kansas City, MO)
The age limit would be the worst move for the NBA -- ever.
Bristol,CT
They shouldnt put an age limit on the NBA. Its the teams fault that they are picking these kids and they are not ready. Teams have to make better choices.
Dan (Vernon, CT)
The high school-to NBA leap also ruins college teams. They have their schollie limits, they sign a kid to a letter of intent, then he backs out. Now the school is stuck when their blue chip recruit takes off.
Bruce (Cleveland)
That's my biggest problem. It's killing the college game. If they're their, they should stay. Why stay three years and then bolt? Who wouldn't want one more year of college? If you've lasted three, you can cut one more.
Matt (West Hartford,CT)
More high schoolers have been unsucessful than sucessful like Kwame Brown, so why not put an age limit and let them develope then they will be better when they come into the NBA?
Jason (Waynesboro, VA)
The proposed NBA age limit is terrible. Stern is trying to clean up the league by punishing these high-schoolers. It's the owners and GM's who choose to draft them!
Derek (California)
The high school players like kobe, KG, and LeBron bring people into the stadium. The age limt would be bad for the NBA
Robbie (Sebastian)
whats up next?
The PULSE (3:33 PM)
Well, first we've got a little update for you. The Yankees have a lead and Tom Brady has signed a new 6-year contract. ... I'm not sure which is bigger news.
Dayne (East Dublin, GA)
Brady gets the big money deal!
nick (bridgewater ma)
yeahhhhhhh brady is stayin with the patriots babY!!!
Johnstone (Chicago)
Tom Brady has had a fairytale type of life so far.... Crazy how successful he has been before the age of 30.
Robbie (Sebastian)
Defently Tom Brady is bigger news than the Yankees having the lead, That was main priority for the Patriots to try and continue their winning ways
The PULSE (3:35 PM)
I was just messing with you Robbie.
Derek (California)
68 MILLON DOLLARS!!! PORR GUY.
Steve (San Francisco)
Brady deserves it. He is a winner, and that is something you can't coach.
Steve (Dover)
Its a bout time Brady gets payed!
Dayne (East Dublin, GA)
Brady-proof that QB's dont have to be drafted in the 1st round to get the fame and cash!
The PULSE (3:39 PM)
Alright, how 'bout The Derby? Who's your picks? Anybody have a little coin on today's race?
Evan (Ohio)
Horse Racing, Horse Shmacing.... I want Football news!
The PULSE (3:39 PM)
Easy, Evan. It's like one day of the year. Open your mind.
Dale Davis (Baltimore)
The Kentucky Derby has like what 20 horses. Any of them can win. I guarantee it won't be Bellamy
Johnstone (Chicago)
I wonder if Bellamy Road has ever been sent down to Tampa for rehab???
Dayne (East Dublin, GA)
Steinbrenner will be destracted from the NYC disaster for 20 seconds!
Jonathon (River Falls,WI)
Its official........................The Yankees win! The Yankees win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees win!
The PULSE (3:42 PM)
It's true. The Yanks just won. Now George can put his total attention on his horsey.
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
When the boss isn't following the Yankees, they are winning. Is this a trend in the making?
Braylin (toledo, ohio)
Bellamy Road will not win this because the yankees are cursed! The boston revenge curse!
The PULSE (3:44 PM)
And here comes the curse conspiracty theories.
Curt (Sommerville)
Usually I'd love the Sox talk ... but today -- Celtics!!
Jeff (Lewiston, ME)
Boston has been working hard for home court all year long, I know they will take advantage and win a tight one in Beantown.
alex (tampa FL)
This won't be Reggie's last game.
Robbie (Sebastian,FL)
The Celtics will win, Reggie Millar will come up big though, but it wont be enough to beat the Celtics
Taylor (Bakersfield, CA)
Reggie is done. Sorry Alex.
Johnstone (Chicago)
Its logical to think that the Celtics will win at home tonight, but this series has been anything but logical. Im going with the Pacers because I think the celtics should win. a la George Castanza...
Dan (Vernon, CT)
Pierce will have to come up big, if for no other reason than to keep the fans on his side. He has been getting bashed in the media and on talk radio since Thursday.
nick (bridgewater ma)
Let's go Celtics all the way. Pierce and Walker -- stay calmmmm!
Evan (Ohio)
Boston needs Ricky Davis to be a ball hog to win.
nick (bridgewater ma)
for the celtics too win there bench will have to come up big davis has to be huge and cover miller
James (Dover,NH)
I don't think the Pacers will be able to keep up tonight with the Celtics full court press. So Miller will have to step up and take controll of the perimater and O'Neil will need to take control of the inside for the pacers to have a chance at all.
Frank (Shaw AFB, SC)
This is just setting up to be a big game for Reggie. Its MILLER TIME!!!!
Robbie (Sebastian,FL)
This is the state of Massachusets year, first the pats, then the Redsox, Now the Celtics, The Celtics will win it all this year
Dre (Sacramento)
It's all about the Rockets and Pacers tongiht. McGrady and Reggie are poised for big games.
alex (tampa FL)
Neither Boston nor Indiana will survive the Pistons.
Johnstone (Chicago)
Im not sure this country is big enough for a Pistons-Pacers series.....
shawn (irvine, CA)
Pistons won't survive the Heat
shawn (providence)
"The Celtics will win it all this year" that is flat out comical!!!!!!
The PULSE (3:56 PM)
