John (Portland, ME)

The ShowGirl (4:07 PM)
And I will.
Brian (Englewood, NJ)
I love those crazy Jensen brother's
Hounge (New orleans )
So, what do we do?
The ShowGirl (4:13 PM)
Well, if you have any questions or comments for any of these guests, you can send 'em in now. Then, tomorrow, you have to tune in. This chat will be following along with the show on TV. I'll be pulling questions from here and passing them over the the anchors to ask the guests. Then, the crazy production peeps take your questions and comments with your names and hometowns and they pop them up on the screen. Kinda like instant messenging meets pop-up video.
The ShowGirl (4:15 PM)
Get it?
John (Portland, ME)
I miss pop-up video...
The ShowGirl (4:15 PM)
Well, now you've got The Pulse. I'd talk a lot more music if they would let me, but for now, sports will suffice.
DJ (CT)
Do you like the album done by the Killers?
The ShowGirl (4:17 PM)
Love the Killers ... but we can't talk about that right now, DJ!
Timmy (Jersey)
The Killers are great. But, seriously, I tuned in to the Pulse a few weekends ago. It was pretty cool. Props to you guys.
The ShowGirl (4:19 PM)
Timmy, you have good taste in music ... AND, I appreciate the pat on the back. Glad you like.
Jake (Costa Rica)
Where's Tom Tolbert been?
The ShowGirl (4:20 PM)
I was watching the Sonics-Spurs game last night. Tommy T's dome was there in full effect.
Matt (DC)
I'm seeing the Killers live in a couple weeks, I'm pumped
The ShowGirl (4:22 PM)
I'm catching them in Central Park ... see you there!
'JC' Juan Reyes (Miami)
Does nascar have a steriod problem(lol)?
The ShowGirl (4:23 PM)
Now, this is McCarthyism.
Steve (Dallas)
Why would they have a steroid problem?
The ShowGirl (4:23 PM)
Everyone's doing it.
Steve (Dallas)
The Killers only good song is Mr. Brightside
The ShowGirl (4:24 PM)
C'mon Steve, smile like you mean it!!
Steve (Dallas)
I'm smiling
'JC' Juan Reyes (Miami)
If they are not on steroids, should NASCAR still be considered a sport :P
The ShowGirl (4:25 PM)
Ha. That's one way to look at it. I like the way you think, JC.
Josh (Denver)
I'd smile if I never had to hear anything about NASCAR ever again.
John (Portland, ME)
I'll be smiling in 35 minutes.
The ShowGirl (4:28 PM)
Friday at 5 ET -- gotta love it!
John (Portland, ME)
Did you place a wager on tomorrow's pony race?
The ShowGirl (4:35 PM)
Nothing like a horse making you more coin in a few seconds than you could otherwise rake in 40 hrs.
Steve (Dallas)
First of all, it is a horse race. and I did not put in a wager
The ShowGirl (4:36 PM)
Geez, Steve. You hate NASCAR, you're anti-horse. It's Friday, say something nice.
Denny (KY)
It's quite here in SportsNation today?
The ShowGirl (4:37 PM)
Yeah, I think it must be the 4 pm springtime Friday phenomenon.
Rob (IL)
Showgirl, Will you be attending any Happy hour festivities at 5 pm ?
The ShowGirl (4:40 PM)
Hey, you know me, I like to celebrate another great week in the books.
John (Portland, ME)
The pulse is starting to flat line.
Prince (Pittsburgh)
Not much to say when you're stuck at work until 6:00. Anyybody in the 'Burgh willing to come kidnap me from the office?
Steve (Dallas)
I'm the only loud one here, thank you.
The ShowGirl (4:43 PM)
Thank goodness for our loud and clear Negative Nancy.
James (San Diego)
It's the freakin' weekend. everybody needs to buck up in here!
The ShowGirl (4:44 PM)
That's the spirit James.
Benny (DC)
Star wars, Mets v. Yankees, Happy Hour, NBA Playoffs, it is fantastic
Steve (Dallas)
Sorry, I'm in Dallas
Prince (Pittsburgh)
I just read that Star Wars made like $50 million in ONE DAY! That's sick.
Drew (Chicago)
How hilarious would Shaq be in a Chewbacca suit?
'JC' Juan Reyes (Miami)
How will miami fair against Detroit?
The ShowGirl (4:50 PM)
I say Detroit wins it all. That's the unofficial ShowGirl prediction.
Adam (Denver )
Billups is the man!
John (Portland, ME)
Shanoff already jinxed the Pistons this morning, by predicting they would beat Miami.
The ShowGirl (4:53 PM)
Is that the new SI cover curse? The Quickie blessing brings the hex? Ha. I'll have to warn Shanoff.
Drew (Chicago)
The Pistons are going to beat Miami and whoever they face from out west. Defense wins championships.
Drew (Chicago)
Good call Adam, but is Chauncey quick enough to hang with D Wade?
The ShowGirl (4:56 PM)
Love D.Wade.
Karl (San Diego)
Do you stick by your prediction Showgirl if Shaq ends up being healthy for the rest of the playoffs?
The ShowGirl (4:58 PM)
Yup. Even if Shaq's healthy, I'm sticking with my boy RIP!!
Karl (San Diego)
No, no, you have it all wrong. Stick with your boy FLASH and you can't lose.
Steve (Dallas)
FLASH can't handle the defense of Detroit
Karl (San Diego)
It's good to get all this NBA talk out of our system since the league will be kaput next season.
The ShowGirl (5:05 PM)
Ah c'mon. It will be fine by next year. They just want fans to beg for it. Give everybody a little scare. Nobody wants to follow the NHL tailights.
Drew (Chicago)
Karl they will get both a collective bargaining and age limit agreed upon in the offseason. They won't let what happened to the NHL happen to them.
Tony (PHX, AZ)
No chance the league is going anywhere, they will work things out, I know youd probably not want a season concidering how your 2 LA teams have been playing I wouldnt want one either!!!!!
Karl (San Diego)
You'd be surprised what a bunch of ego driven millionaires will do when money and power is involved. I'm hoping for the best, but I've been burned too many times before: MLB in the 90s for one.
The ShowGirl (5:08 PM)
Geez. Now you guys decide to look alive! That's the ticket. That's what we need tomorrow. The Pulse. ESPNews. 1-4 ET. Turn on the tube, hop on line and hit me with your comments. ... in the meantime. Have a great weekend! We'll see you tomorrow!
THE PULSE (11:09 AM)

THE PULSE (11:13 AM)
We'll kick off the show horsing around with some Preakness analysis. Send in your questions now!
THE PULSE (12:01 PM)
If you're not watching the ponies, we'll need some questions for our speical quests -- Indy driver Sam Hornish, WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie, and table-tennis sensations Biba and Blackwell!
THE PULSE (12:04 PM)
Send in your questions and comments now take a break, then come back to us when you tune in to The Pulse on ESPNEWS at 1 ET. We'll be right here, following along with the on-air action. Write in now and see your name and opinions on TODAY!
Phillip (Indy)
When does this chat start?
THE PULSE (12:07 PM)
I'll get things rolling just before the show kicks off at 1 ET, but I'm going through the mailbag here right now, pulling out some questions and comments for our guests to use later.
Ralph (Pittsburgh)
So is this chat the place where we email our questions?
THE PULSE (12:08 PM)
Yup, you're in the right spot Ralph. Send 'em in using this form below!
Will (Chicago)
is this chat going to coincide with some what's going be on espn?
THE PULSE (12:37 PM)
Yup, you got it, Will.
THE PULSE (12:59 PM)
Alright. T-minus two minutes! Here we go! How about some questions for Dee Brown -- four teams left, who will prevail in the NBA. I want to hear from you. WELCOME TO THE PULSE!!!
muck (chicago)
I dont know if my ?s are going through, but ill still write in.
THE PULSE (1:05 PM)
I see you muck, I see all of you guys. What happens is we're just going through all of your questions and comments and pulling them out and getting them ready for you TV appearances! Keep sending them in, we're using them! We see ya!
Ryan (New York,NY)
Nothing like a good day to hangout and to watch the pulse
THE PULSE (1:13 PM)
Alright Ryan, glad you're on board. Dee Brown is here. Send in your questions!
Tony (PHX, AZ)
What we need to be talking about is how the West gets no love, All I ve seen on these chats is about East Coast, Whats up with that?
THE PULSE (1:13 PM)
Well, send me in some west side questions and comments, then!
muck (chicago)
The west has had the title over there for awhile, because of shaq, not hes back east baby
Stetson (Rockland, Mass)
What do you think is the best matchups in the conf finals Shaq vs Ben Wallace and Wade vs Billups or Duncan vs Stoudemire and Nash vs Parker ?
THE PULSE (1:16 PM)
You're on TV Stetson!
JUAN (PHOENIX)
THE SUNS WILL BEAT SPURS IN 6 GAMES
Mike (Milwaukee)
Finals predictions. Heat in 6, Suns in 7.
Steve (Dallas)
Phoenix CAN'T play defense
taylor (pittsburg,PA)
the spurs cant keep up with the suns
Eric (New York)
The Suns have really proven themselves so far this season. I really thought they would make it to the second round and collapse because their team is run and gun and all that never wins championships.
muck (chicago)
will the spurs have enough to slow down the suns?
THE PULSE (1:19 PM)
Muck, you're on! Dee Brown's talking to YOU!
Shane in Nashville TN
The pistons shut down Shaq and Kobe last year, so why should this series with the Heat be any different, Wade isnt Kobe, and Shaq isnt a hundred percent.
J.C ( Santiago, Dominican Republic)
What Makes the Pistons a great team? they dont score a lot and they dont have a powerful force like Shaq or Flash.
Omar (Riverton,WY)
The Suns will run the Spurs crazy. Look at how the Lakers of the 80's held their own with just their run-n-gun offense
THE PULSE (1:22 PM)
Alright folks, that's wraps up the NBA segment for now. Now we need some questions and comments for Indy driver Sam Hornish Jr, WNBA star Lisa Leslie and more. Hit me!
THE PULSE (1:26 PM)
I also really need some questions and comments for Gary Pomerantz - Author of "Wilt, 1962". Send me your questions and comments on Wilt Chamberlain!
THE PULSE (1:26 PM)
And tennis fans, Luke Jensen is here and ready for your French Open questions and comments. Hit me!
THE PULSE (1:36 PM)
Yo, folks, thanks for writing in ... but if you send me 50 of the same question, i'm thowing it under my bed like a dirty shirt. I can see - one post is enough.
THE PULSE (1:46 PM)
Let's talk Wilt!
Mark (Vermillion, SD)
Gary, who do you think would be more dominant if they played in the same era: Wilt or Shaq?
Peter (Boston)
Between Wilt and Shaq the only comparisson is size. And when you do that it is clear who the superior Basketball player is. Wilt won two titles and put up unimaginable numbers against proportionally sized competetion. Shaq plays in the age of expansion and dillution, won three titles after all the great players left, and would have a good deal of trouble if the officials enforced offensive foul rules.
THE PULSE (1:46 PM)
You guys are on the air!
Saad (Commack)
Wilt Chamberlain is one of the most dominant sports players ever.
Bryan (Marion OH)
GaryWhat was the most interesting fact you came across while writing this book about Wilt?
THE PULSE (1:49 PM)
You're on Bryan!
Ryan (Medford,MA)
Shaq has no competition besides Yao Ming.Wilt had to face Bill Russell.
Jeremiah (Detroit)
What's next?
THE PULSE (1:51 PM)
Next up after the break is Luke Jensen talking tennis. Send in your French Open questions and comments now!
doug (goshen(ny))
roddick will win the french open.
Bryan (Taunton,Massachusetts)
The players I`m looking for Andy Roddick,Roger Federer, and Andre Agassi but are they underdogs to bring down my top 3 seeds
Anthony Smith (Temecula, California)
Andre Agassi has as much of a chance to win the open as anybody!
doug (goshen(ny))
who is your favorite for the french open?
Ken (Richmond, VA)
I like the way Rafael Nadal is playing right now. I think he'll beat Guillermo Coria in the finals.
Mark (Vermillion, SD)
Luke, if you took a poll of favorite slams to win, where would the French Open rank?
THE PULSE (1:59 PM)
You guys are on!
Roger (Orlando)
Why is Lindsey Davenport always thrown by the wayside? Even when she's a No. 1 seed she gets no love!
Saad (Commack)
In my opinion, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal is going to be victorious in the French Open.
Oneal Smith (Azle,TX)
it's over for Agassi
James (Hew Hampshire)
Ha! Luke Jensen is an animal!
THE PULSE (2:02 PM)
Hahah! Did you hear that? He loves The Pulse!
THE PULSE (2:03 PM)
Alright, that puts tennis to bed. Next up, any NASCAR fans in here? Send in your questions to Mike Massaro, next! AND, I need to check YOUR pulse -- if you were an NFL GM, would you want Ricky Williams on your team? Send me your opinions on Ricky!
Austin (Utah)
"Non Athletic Sport Created Around Rednecks" =NASCAR.. great quote.. jk.. with the new track in place will we see more cautious drivers tonight? or a higher amount of crashes on this course?
THE PULSE (2:18 PM)
Haha. Nice Austin. Mike Massaro answered YOUR question ... we didn't tell him your joke, though. :)
Anthony (Temecula, California)
What has been the biggest surprise in the Nextel season so far?
THE PULSE (2:22 PM)
You're on, Anthony!
Ken (Richmond, VA)
There's a lot more athleticism required in NASCAR than you might think. Having to endure 130 degrees plus 3-4 G's(as in G-Force) for 3-4 hours, not to mention that you have to have better reflexes than any other athlete with the possible exception of a professional baseball player or tennis player.
THE PULSE (2:22 PM)
Ken's got NASCAR's back. Thanks for speaking out, Ken!
THE PULSE (2:23 PM)
And for all you NACAR haters -- let's talk Ricky Williams. Would you take him on your team?
Nathan (Coulterville(Illinois))
Ricky is overrated i mean he hasn't done nothing great and the nfl dont need him.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Even if Ricky comes back, how good could he possibly be? He's only 180 pounds or so right now and we all know that he doesn't care about football not to mention that he'll be 28 at the start of the season. Not to mention that no one in the NFL really needs a RB right now. Miami has Ronnie Brown and if they wanted a veteran back then they could have traded for Edge or Alexander or Henry but they didn't. I think that they like Ronnie Brown and they only want Ricky to come back so they can trade him, only no one's going to trade for him.
safraz (houston)
ricky willimas is a BUM he is just using the NFL again to support his drug addiction
Yousef (Jerusalem)
Ricky Williams from 2 years ago , Yes.Ricky Williams now, No.
Miguel, Des Moines, Ia
Yes, I would want Ricky Williams on my team. But I would not want him on the Miami Dolphins. He needs a fresh start with a new team.
Big Pun (The Ville)
ricky is overrated and he need to stay out of the nfl cause it dont need him there
Michael (Austin,Tx)
I would put Ricky on my team just to see what he can offer. Being away from a lifestyle you've become used to can take a toll on some people. You gotta get that bonus money back somehow.
brian williams (atlanta )
Ricky williams is just a distraction .
Ken (Richmond, VA)
I don't want Ricky on my team. Not only is he a druggie that doesn't care about football, but even if he does come back he won't be in football shape. I mean isn't he like 180 pounds right now? I don't care how good he used to be, there's no way that he'll be any where near that now.
Rocky (NW Ohio)
I'd want Ricky in a low risk, high reward situation, like he is in Miami. If he doesn't show up or is not ready to perform, you still have a young stud in Ronnie Brown to carry the load.
THE PULSE (2:30 PM)
You're on Rocky!
Kevin (Boston, MA)
I would not put Ricky Williams on my team. The worst thing in the world is someone quitting on his teammates for purely selfish reasons, especially when theythe whole team (and city) was depending on him. What do the players think about him? Why would his teammates trust him or want to play with him at this point?
THE PULSE (2:31 PM)
Kevin's on TV!
Bryan (Taunton )
What`s the difference signing back Williams because Their ist round pick Ronnie Brown might want to start the whole season
David (Los Angeles)
Ricky just want's to come back for the money, if I was Nick Saban I would not want Ricky on my team.
Ryan (Medford,MA)
Personally, I don't want him back in the NFL. But you gotta trust Nick Saban, so I'm excited at the possibility of having thunder and lightning back there because he missed all of last season, those games will count as his punishment. The Dolphins will win 9 games this year, or at least 8 games.
Jared (Readlyn)
I don't care how good Ricky is. He deserted a team and after being in India or where ever he was at he may not be up to his normal athletic ability.
Yousef (Jerusalem)
He left his team and retired becuase he wanted to to do drugs. He turned his back on the fans, the team and league. And now, he wants to come back, I say forget it, its Ronnie Brown's time.
HNIC (LA)
Ryan in Medford you and Ricky must be smokin the same stuff.
Richard (Texas)
I say bring him back and trade him for something you need.
David (Los Angeles)
All Ricky wants is Money
THE PULSE (2:46 PM)
OK, what's up, nobody wants to talk Indy?
Bryan (Taunton)
Everyone wants Tony Kannann to win but I`m begging to differ and Sam Hornish Jr. wins a photo finish
safraz (houston)
Tony Kannann will win big its a no brainer
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Kenny Brack posted the fastest qualifying time period and he's a past winner driving for the defending champs. He's going to win it.
Nate (Shreveport)
Yep agree it will be Tony Kannann's day w/ the checker flag
Kenneth (Boston)
Nothing would be better for car racing than Danica Patrick winning Indy.
Jim (Queens)
Chicks rule!
THE PULSE (2:51 PM)
Glad you like 'em Jim. Good luck to Danica and next up, we go to the ladies on court. Let's talk WNBA!
safraz (houston)
i agree chicks rule!
THE PULSE (2:51 PM)
Well, now we know what gets your attention.
Robbie (Wilkes-Barre)
Say what you want about the WNBA, but Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird, Lisa Leslie -- WOW! What's better than female athletes. These women are for real!
Damon Clark Austin, TX
Lisa,How do you feel Chamique Holdsclaw will fit into the scope of things in this coming year.
THE PULSE (2:54 PM)
Lisa says she loves Chamique on those offensive boards!
Al (Las Vegas, NV)
For Lisa Leslie:What is the biggest difference in playing for Michael Cooper and Henry Bibby? Both are defensive minded coaches, is Coach Bibby going to try run a fast tempo offense or slow it down in more set offensive sets?
THE PULSE (2:55 PM)
Haha. Lisa calls Bibby 'Yoda'
Albert (Los Angeles, California)
Lisa, I think you're the best basketball player on the planet, and I think you should demand to play in the NBA. With the exception of only a handful, the NBA is filled with scrubs, so i know you would average at least 20, 10, and 5 every night. Plus now that I've seen you jam, I know you could make your presence felt. I think you should do it, because I know you can. The wait is over.
THE PULSE (2:55 PM)
They're talking about you on TV, Albert!
brian williams (hawkinnsville)
lisa leslie will win it all
mr.dell (compton, ca)
sparks now have the same combo the championship lakers had. best inside and perimeter players in tha game
Bryan (Marion OH)
LisaIf there is one thing you could improve in the WNBA, what would it be?
THE PULSE (2:56 PM)
You're on Bryan!
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
Lisa Leslie is the most dominant player in the WNBA and continues to prove it every year.
THE PULSE (3:00 PM)
Alright. That's good stuff from Lisa. The WNBA season kicks off today at 4 ET with that LA-Seattle game. Tune in!
THE PULSE (3:01 PM)
Alright, it's 3 o'clock. Last hour, here WE come into the homestretch. We'll talk Preakness, we'll talk table tennis with Biba and Robert Blackwell Jr., we'll talk to the Toronto Raptors GM Rob Babcock and well end with Jeff Brantley talking interleague. Hit me with your questions and comments! Keep it up!
Brady (Omaha, Ar)
Giacomo could win any race.
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
Giacomo will not win the Preakness Stakes because of the level of the competition and his post position.
doug (goshen(ny))
go giaccomo!!!
Dennis (Carlsbad)
Is Giacomo anything other than a horse who got extremely lucky in the Derby?
Brian (Kentucky)
Kenny Mayne ALMOST makes me want to watch a horse race. He's hysterical.
THE PULSE (3:08 PM)
Haha. Give the Mayne-Event some love! That's how we do! Alright. Next up, send me your questions for table tennis sensation -- Biba! If you don't know who this lady is -- YOU SHOULD!
THE PULSE (3:09 PM)
And where's Canada at today? We've got Toronto Raptors GM Rob Babcock stopping by to take your questions. Send 'em in. C'mon, David Amber is one of your boys!!
THE PULSE (3:21 PM)
Alright, so c'mon, who's your favorite one-name female??
Ray (Connecticut)
Pink! Definitely Pink! She's so bad-ass. I love it!!
Ryan (Newport)
Love Pink, but you can't go wrong with the old standby ... Madonna!
brian williams (hawkinnsville georgia)
beyonce is the best one name.
Yadao (Manila)
Why is Extreme Table tennis not ever shown on Television?
THE PULSE (3:24 PM)
C'mon, you can find it on ESPN's air from time-to-time!
Paul (Albany)
Biba! I love it!
casey sorenson (cheney, wa)
i love oprah. oh my
Magz (Dallas)
madonna rolls off my tongue beautifully
Kevin (Boston, MA)
Shakira! No question
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
Biba is the best woman one-namer.
Tony (Gilbert)
Pink all the way
Tony (San Diego)
I want a girlfriend who can play table tennis. That's hot!!
THE PULSE (3:27 PM)
Alright, alright. After Biba, we've got Toronto Raptor's GM Rob Babcock followed by Jeff Brantley talking MLB Interleague. Send me your questions now! We need 'em!
THE PULSE (3:38 PM)
Hey, c'mon now, there's 20 minutes left of this week's PULSE. Stay with me! Check your pulse -- we still need some questions and comments, talk to me!
Nick (Weymouth)
The Raptors NEED Chris Paul!!
tyrale (Navasota)
Chris paul can shoot with the best
Jordan Gill (Lambertville, Michigan)
Last year was tough for the Raptors. They lost Vince and didn't finish worse than the Hawks thus lowering their chances in the lottery.
Peter (Teaneck)
They never should have let Carter go!
TED (MIAMI )
What's the best part of being an NBA GM? What's the worst part?
THE PULSE (3:46 PM)
You're on TV, Ted!
BOB (TORONTO)
I HAVE BEEN 2 ONE OF THE RAPOTRS GAMES BEFORE THAT TEAM WILL IMPROVE OVER SEASONS BUT WAT DOES IT FELL LIKE 2 BE A GM OF A DEVOLPING TEAM. FRUSTRATING OR HOPEFUL?
THE PULSE (3:47 PM)
You're on Bob. Babcock says he's hopeful!
Jeff (Palm Desert)
I agree with Mr. Babcock. If a guy doesn't want to play for your team you have to let him go, no matter who he is!
VernCH (Ambler)
They had to let carter go they are rebuilding they needed the salary
Joey (OU)
That's a different team without Carter. That whole thing was a no-win.
THE PULSE (3:50 PM)
Alright. There you have it. Ten minutes left in The Pulse. It's time to talk baseball with Jeff Brantley. You guys watching the games? Talk to me!
Ryan (San Diego)
Please say something about the Padres on this segment
THE PULSE (3:51 PM)
We'll see. ... For the love of Tony Gwynn!
Ryan (San Diego)
Seriously, do it for Tony, you know he's pulling for these guys
Sarah (Northwestern)
The White Sox will eat the Cubs alive!
THE PULSE (3:54 PM)
You're on, Sarah!
THE PULSE (3:58 PM)
Alright folks, that does it for The Pulse this week. See you next Saturday. Go watch the horseys!
Ryan (San Diego)
Thanks Pulse....you guys are awesome! Go Padres!!
