Hey everyone! Tulane hurler Brian Bogusevic will be here shortly! Send your questions now! I am here and ready to go! How do you feel about the Astros organization? Were you happy to be drafted by them? I was very excited. It was a bit of a surprise. I couldn't be more happy about it. Have you ever faced Rice before? What do you expect? I have never faced them. They are the kind of team that is built around pitching. They have a lot of really good arms. Their strength is their pitching. They are a tough matchup. Brian, what brought you to Tulane University, I am sure you could have gone to other colleges. Just a lot of the things I was looking for .. good academics, top tier program, etc. .. Tulane had it. I also wanted to be able to play year around. The more you can play, the more you can develop. Are you 100 percent recovered from your hamstring injury? Yes. I'm at 100 percent. I've been close to 100 percent for awhile now. It hasn't given me any problems. It's not even a thought anymore. It appears that you and Tommy Manzella have really bonded this year as leaders and teammates. Are you excited to see Tommy drafted by the same club? Yes! When I heard that, it was the second best news of the day. It's good to have a good friend going with you. Just makes it easier to get adjusted. Zero homers on the season? Are you saving them up for Omaha? I've been trying to hit some! Hopefully they will come. But I don't want to press too hard. Are you excited about being able to hit, being that you were drafted by a National League team? Yes. That is something that will be fun for me. I don't have to totally get away from hitting, but my concentration is obviously on hitting. From a Tulane grad here...Does Domilisi's still make the best poorboy? I've been there once .. it was very good so I would say yes. I hear Tulane coach Rick Jones is a superstitious guy... can you describe some of his more eccentric superstitions? If you ask him he says he is "ritual orientated". I would say yes, he is pretty supersticious. How does it feel do be part of the Number 1 seed in the Ncaa Tournament? It adds confidence. It also puts a target on your back. Everybody wants to beat the No. 1 seed. We know we have to bring our best every game. The other teams certainly will. What pitcher in the Astros organization, past or present, do you admire the most and why? Whew. There have been a ton. I couldn't narrow it down to just one. Probably Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte. Had you talked to the Astros much this year, and were you surprised when they selected you? I had met with the area scout during the season. There was some talk right before the draft. But I didn't know how interested they were. Is the playing field at Turchin finally dry? And how has the weather affected practice this week? It rained again some yesterday. The OF is still pretty wet. But it is sunny now. Hopefully it is drying up. Just wondered what you thought about now how Tulane over the past couple of years has taken over as maybe the top program in the state as opposed to years past when LSU was everything anyone talked about. I don't know. LSU still has a great team and a great fan base. But it is more even now. We are right up there with them. Did you ever consider returning to tulane for your senior season? I haven't really thought about it yet. Right now I'm just focused on the rest of the season. What is your out pitch? I'd say my slider. Every once in awhile I can get somebody with my fastball or change. But my slider is my go to pitch. Congrads ont he draft. I know you will do well. My question is, do you thinlk all the hype around you being a #1 draft choice will take away the focus for the Super Regional games this weekend? Seems like more press have been around this week than ever before. It hasn't been hard to focus. With the reginoal being dragged out it actually helped me stay focused. The next think I knew it was the draft. I didn't have time for it to be a distraction. What is your best memory of playing ball at Tulane? The one thing that really stands out? Hmm.. I would say I have two. Winning the regionals the last two years. We were the underdog team last year. This year we are at home with the home crowd. The stadium was packed at midnight in the pouring rain. Those two are neck and neck. Hopefully something better will come along in the coming weeks! Thanks for the questions! I appreciate all the well wishes and all the support. I have to run to practice. Take care! Buzzmaster
