Dari Nowkhah (12:52 PM)
Mubarak ... sorry, but no. 5 back and way too many teams to pass in a short time. I think Houston, Florida and Philly will play better down the stretch.
andrew (apg)
dari can i be a host like steve
Dari Nowkhah (12:52 PM)
Andrew, he's not really a host. He just wants to be a host.
Steve (Dallas)

If Steve from Dallas is an official host, then the Indians are gonna win the world series! Oh wait, with Jhonny Peralta, they just might!!!
Eli (Pittsburgh)

THE PULSE (1:06 PM)
Hey, hey. Glad to see you all here today. We're well represented all over the place. Good stuff. Big day on tap. Tony Stewart kicks us off after this break.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
The greatest guest in the history of The Pulse is up first today!
Dari Nowkhah (1:07 PM)
Allright guys... Tony Stewart is up first. Is he a lock to win the points title, considering they all start from 0 when the Chase begins?
Debbie (Emporium, Pa)
Tony Stewart is leaving a trail of 'SMOKE' on his way to the championship GO TONY!!!!!Debbie Emporium, Pa
andrew (apg)
hey can i ask tony somthin first before more people try to ask
THE PULSE (1:07 PM)
You gotta be quicker than that, Andrew!
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
DariYou guys should have Tony Stewart on every week...You would have record numbers each week
Tony (Fort Hood TX)
Tony cant be stopped!
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Tony Stewart is a lock to win the whole thing!
Chad (Bryan, Ohio)
I've been a fan of Tony Stewart sense he was a rookie.
Dari Nowkhah (1:08 PM)
Do you guys care if Jeff Gordon is in the Chase or not?
Mubarak(Chicago)
Tony is lucky, Jeff Gordon is going to start to take over
alan (pittsburgh)
shouldn't you leave the nascar guests for later in the show, once everyone's gone?
Jeff (Nashville, TN)
Tony,How many times a day do you have to shave?
robert comer (winston-salem)
But # 1 doesnt MATTER. He will be what 10 points when they redo the points? WORK hard but also be smart. may get hurt if he pushes to hard ???
Jared (Chicago)
Dave, you just called Tony Stewart the best athlete in the country. Just for that you should be banned from The Pulse.
Chad (Bryan, Ohio)
Glad I'm not the only Tony Fan here.
Tim ( Magnolia)
Mark Martin is by far one of the best drivers ever in nascar
Sean (Boston, MA)
Tony Stewart is awesome, even though i'm not much of a fan of Nascar..I still respect him
Tony (Fort Hood TX)
I care more about JR making the Chase then Gordon
Chad (Bryan, Ohio)
I really don't care if Jeff Gordon is or not.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
I could care less if Jeff Gordon is in the chase or not, this is Tony Stewart's year
Noel East Northport, N.Y.
Tont Stewarts One Of The Greatest Drivers In Nascar History
Tyler (Louisville)
He on the biggest role of his career!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
I thought Mr. T was Thunderlips
Tony (Fort Hood TX)
Tony my wife loves you and just wanted to say good luck in The Chase, but she doesnt think you'll need it!
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
When his career is over, Tony Stewart will be a top 5 driver
Tim ( Magnolia)
JR and Gordon neither one are going to make the chase this year
Sean (Boston, MA)
Tony should build a fence inside his house and practice climbing before he cracks his head!
Tom (Buffalo)
Jeff will get in the chase
Dari Nowkhah (1:11 PM)
Mr T was Clubber Lang... but thanks Eli.
John (Seattle)
Tim, how can you say Mark Martin is BY FAR "ONE OF THE BEST?" If he's BY FAR, chances are he's better than just one of the best...that's like saying Michael Vick is By far one of the top 5 QB's in the league
Noel (East Nortport, NY)
Tony Stewarts The Best Racer In NASCAR Today
Tommy (Austin)
NASCAR is not a sport
Jerry (Buies Creek)
Mr. T was clubber lang
Liam (Toronto)
Who's next?
Jerry (Buies Creek)
I just hope Jr doesnt make itMy boy Jimmy Johnson could finish 10th and i wouldnt care as long as JR doesnt make it!!!!!!
Noel (East Northport, NY)
JR and Gordon are overrated
Tom (Buffalo)
Tony I am a big Fan I am wondering if you think another Track in NEw York would be a good idea
Tim ( Magnolia)
if he ever learned to pass and not try to run he would be possibly on of the best
Andrew (Lusk, WY)
If he's worried about cracking his head open I'm sure Home Depot could hook him up with a ladder.
Steve (Dallas)
Who's next after Tony?
Tyler (Louisville)
It is too a sport!
Sean (Boston, MA)
Gordon's getting old..he needs to retire, no chase for him
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
NASCAR is a sport, how many overweight guys do you see doing it?
Tony (Fort Hood TX)
How many Championship's has Martin won again?
THE PULSE (1:14 PM)
Tim Kurkjian talk MLB Wild Card races, and more!
Michael (chesapeake, virginia)
My question is for Tony Stewart:With the season that you are having and only the top5 are within 400 points of you, do you forsee NASCAR changing the point system, I mean what is the sense of setting the points back for the last 10 races, in my opinion it just makes the first 26 races nothing more then glorified practice sessions for the multi car teams?
THE PULSE (1:14 PM)
You're on TV, Michael!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Thanks Dari and Jerry I can admit I was wrong, But it wont happen too often haha
Jeff (New York)
Hey Tony Stewart, I just switched lanes and drove fast on my way to the grocery store. Am I an athlete too?
Bad Boy (lakecity, fl)
tony stewart,do you think that during your string of victories this year ,that some of dei's fan base has swung to racings badboy?
THE PULSE (1:16 PM)
You're on!
Jim Stoutmeyer from Port Huron, MI.
Tony,First, thanks for the cash from my NASCAR pools in the last two months!
THE PULSE (1:16 PM)
TV for you, too Jim!
Jerry (Buies Creek)
There is skill, athleticism, hand eye coordination..... all aspects of sport. If target shooting is a sport Nascar is.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
ok get this guy off lets talk baseball
Jason (Marietta)
That was the funniest thing I've ever seen anyone say on The Pulse
Jason (Marietta)
*lol* to Jeff from New York
Steve Bunin (1:17 PM)
Eli - they just told me you thought Mr. T was Thunderlips? Come on, champ! You ain't so bad!
Steve Bunin (1:18 PM)
Tim Kurkjian is coming on board - send us your Wild Card questions. Pulsites, do you think the Astros will hold on in the NL?
THE PULSE (1:18 PM)
Nice work on that segment, Pulsers. Let's talk baseball. Who wins the Wild Cards? Let's get into it!
Matt (Des Moines, Iowa)
Are the moderators of this chat in the Bristol studios?
Eli (Pittsburgh)
I am only 20 and never saw the Mr. T Rocky
Steve (Dallas)
Guys, who wins the Wild Cards?
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
NL Wild Card---Philadelphia
Victor alexandria,la
houston will win the wild card.
Steve Bunin (1:19 PM)
Hey Matt - YUP! The moderators are here in Bristol at ESPN. Plus, of course, Dari and me on-set. David Amber is off this week, but I'm pinch-hitting. Hopefully as well as Marlon Anderson of the Mets this year.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
AL Wildcard-Anaheim or Oakland
Jason (Marietta)
The Astros will be dangerous in the playoffs if they make it, but they may not have enough offense to win. One advantage, the NL East teams will all beat up on one another.
Jared (Chicago)
CUBS win the WC. Anytime you can pitch Zambrano and Wood or Prior and Wood in the same game, you can't lose.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
They will not Steve, Philadelphia will pass them by
Eli (Pittsburgh)
The only one i have ever really seen is Rocky IV with Drago
Patrick Staten Island New York
I think the Mets have a better chance of winning the wild card then the Yankees do.
Steve Bunin (1:21 PM)
Phillies are tough, but like Timmy K just said, the Marlins pitching staff gives me reason to think if any team catches the Astros, it'll be Florida.
Tim ( Magnolia)
The Marlins will win the wild card, but won't matter because the Braves will win the pennant in the end
Omair (Flushing, NY)
Mets will win the wild card, no doubt. Their starting pitching has been great, hitting is coming around, and they're still waiting for that hot streak which will come soon.
Homer (Cleveland)
Indians are gonna sneak up and take this thing. Jhonny Peralta is the best shortstop in the AL since the all star break
Andrew (Lusk, WY)
The Cubs have a shot if...and it's a big if...they can stay healthy.
Tim ( Magnolia)
The Yankees are done
Tim ( Magnolia)
Yeah but anyone can hit off of Zambrano, Wood, And Prior
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Washington was the biggest fluke in the 1st half of the season
Jason (Marietta)
The Braves need Hampton and Thompson to pull it together
Jason (Atlanta)
The Braves need Florida or Philly to win the Wild Card
Joseph Stone Mountain GA
When will the Braves start getting some respect for being the second best team in the NL instead of the Florida Marlins
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
They do have a tough staff Steve, but anytime you have someone at the end of the rotation like Billy Wagner to close out games you have a great shot of winning alot of games
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
Cubs don't have a shot are you kidding me!?
cheyne (miami)
lets go marlins!!!!
Steve Bunin (1:23 PM)
What about the AL - who thinks the A's peaked too soon?
Francis (Reno)
Umm, why all this talk about Kerry Wood? Is it just me, or has he just pitched 14 innings in relief? Zambrano and Prior is the rotation
Mubarak (Chicago)
I don't care what anyone says the Cubs still have a shot at WC
Tim ( Magnolia)
The Braves will never get the respect they truly deserve. They have won 14 straight division titles and still no respect. Hello Who else has done that?
Jason (Marietta)
Their pitching keeps them in it
andrew (apg)
Athletics will take over the al but slowly
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
I think Oakland is the most dangerous team in the American League right now
Mary (Michigan)
Cubs are done.
Omair (Flushing, NY)
Yankees ain't making the playoffs, their starting pitching is just pathetic
Tyler (Louisville)
The A's will top the yankees at the end
Ryan (Apopka, FL)
I'm taking the A's. Something about youth...
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
Astros need some other batters to step up besides just Ensberg.
Andrew (Lusk, WY)
How did the Brewers get into this thing?
alan (pittsburgh)
the royals make me feel fortunate to be a pirates fan
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
The A's have not peaked yet. Kotsay is still banged up and Crosby has really warmed up yet. The A's will only get better.
Jason (Marietta)
"still waiting for that hot streak"? So are the Royals. Does Kansas City have one coming too?
Jared (Chicago)
Does anybody from ESPN think the Yankees won't win the WC? They could be 25 games back with 26 to play, and ESPN would still say the Yankees will win the WC.
Justin (Sherman Oaks, CA)
I'm gonna set up camp outside Kauffman Stadium until the Royals win a game. We at "Camp K.C." will demand a meeting with George Brett and the impeachment of Buddy Bell. There will be small white "L's" in the groung for each of the 19 losses so far and room for more. I will however request your privacy during this matter.
Rick (Anaheim)
The A's are young. They'll have the stamina to hold on.
Matt of Lenexa, KS
David Glass, the owner of the Royals, should receive the sole blaim for their performance. I refuse to spend any of my hard earned money on the Royals until he will spend some money on them. He should sell the team and end the suffering.
John (Oakland)
As an A's fan, yea we peaked too early...Cleveland's playing the best TEAM ball of the AL contenders
Zach (Hagerstown)
I see the A's taking the division over the Angels. The Yankee's will pick it up, but too late.
Tim ( Magnolia)
the ANgels have the AL Wild Card wrapped up
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
ESPN seems to be Boston homers.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
after 100 yrs of no ROY's Pittsburgh will have 2 straight Jason Bay, and this year Zach Duke
dan h (marcellus ny)
Do the braves have enough talent to make it to the World Series and maybe even win it?
Steve Bunin (1:27 PM)
Dan - of COURSE the braves can do that! But they're so young and inexperienced. If they come up against the Cards in the NLCS, that'll be tough.
Max (Lincoln, Nebraska) (1:28 PM)
How come everyone is already counting out the surging Twins? Their 6 game win streak barely gets any mention. Along with no one concerned about the White Sox falling back to earth losing 6 straight. Minnesota has 14 games left between Cleveland and Chicago. Im I just dreaming or do the Twins have a legit chance?
THE PULSE
Tim Kurkjian is talking to YOU, Max!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Brain Anderson, Jose Lima, Juan Gonzalez. The Royals spent the money last year and we all know what happened.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Kansas City spent their money on has been bums
THE PULSE (1:30 PM)
Next up is Texas coach Mack Brown.
Ollie (Austin)
When is Mack Brown going to be on here?
THE PULSE (1:31 PM)
Austin is anxious!!
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Mack is gonna lay the Smackdown!
THE PULSE (1:32 PM)
What do you guys think of Mack's Longhorns this year?
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
I think they could be his best team at Texas yet! I'm just excited to think of the possibilities.
jb (louisiana)
The longhorns will lose 1 game sand win the big ten easy, on thier way to a bcs bowl
Jared (Chicago)
Big-10 with two teams in the AP Preseason Top 10. Midwest REPRESENTIN'!!!
Tim ( Magnolia)
Texas will win about 10 games and lose to Oklahoma again
dennis (arlington )
they will win everything
Jason (Marietta)
Vince Young has to develop as a passer, but his talent is phenomenal.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Vince Young will have a huge season, ending with a trip to New York
Ryan (Cedar falls, Ia)
i see ohio state knocking off texas in the big game this year.....the big ten is going to be a STRONG conference this year! Iowa will win it i think and put them and usc in the national title game
Steve (Dallas)
The running game needs to improve and Vince Young needs to step up against OU. Or else, Mack is fired.
Jamison (Columbia, SC)
Cannot win the big game, Mack Brown never has been able to.
Brian (Lake Worth, FL via Monroeville, PA)
Longhorns will have another solid season, but another year of losing to OU
Brian (Lake Worth, FL via Monroeville, PA)
Texas is such a football rich state; however, it seems like UT has trouble winning the big game...why is that?
dennis (arlington )
Vince Young is one of the best college Quarterbacks
Jason (Marietta)
Texas could beat Oklahoma (finally), but still lose 3 or more games with their schedule.
Chris (Oklahoma City)
Tell Mack Brown to bring a compass next time he plays the Sooners...maybe then his team will actually be able to find the endzone
Steve (Dallas)
Dennis, you're letting Texas down by saying that!
Steve (Dallas)
OU will hand UT its 6th straight loss in October!
Tyler (Louisville)
Will top the Oklahoma to win the Big 12
Steve (Dallas)
Ryan is a homer!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Texas wins the Big 12.
Robert ( (Mi
Texas has no chance of beating Oklahoma!
Jason (Marietta)
It's fun to play with Texas on NCAA '06
Ryan (Apopka, FL)
Not sold on Young. Everyone is all excited, but I need to see something first this year.
Tim ( Magnolia)
ain't no conference like the sec
Paul (Boston, Ma)
HEISMAN!!
Steve Bunin (1:36 PM)
Who's the most exciting player in CFB? Vince Young? Reggie Bush? Ted Ginn?
Ted Ginn (Columbus)
Texas will be undefeated until they play my Buckeyes...which is pretty early. (ok, so maybe this isnt the real Ted Ginn)
dennis (arlington , Va)
where is the game going to be? olklahoma or texas?
Steve Bunin (1:37 PM)
OU/Texas is always at the Cotton Bowl ... keep the comments coming, Pulsites! Mack Brown ready to hop on board.
Paul (Boston, Ma)
Matt Leinart is the best
andrew (apg)
do you think vince young will get to the nfl and be successful
Scott (mont., AL)
Why is everybody jumping on the Vince Young band wagon? Why is he a Heismen contender? He has like 18 t.d. and 18 int. There are far better q.b's that I would much rather have in a game than him. Yeah he is fast and can beat you with his feet. But not against teams that stop the run. I think the fact that he beat Michigan last year was a fluke. So why all the Heisman hype for a Q.b who is one dementional??? Granted Jason White was as well, but he did what Q.b's are suppose to do, and thats to throw the ball. Basically, Vince Young is a reciever playing Q.B.! The media is building him up for a Huge disappointment!
Steve Bunin (1:38 PM)
Vince Young will be drafted for CERTAIN because of his athleticism, but the question is, can he throw well enough? I believe he's about a 50% passer for his career. Just won't get it done in the NFL. As Jerry Glanville once said, that stands for "Not For Long" .... for some.
Paul (Boston, Ma)
Could Texas beat USC in the championship?
dennis (arlington )
i doubt usc will be as good as they were last year
Steve (Dallas)
Guys, what is the outcome of UT-OU? I say OU 35 and UT 10.
Mike, Los Angeles Ca
Everybody is overating texas just because they beat michigan in the rose bowl game. They couldn't even score on oklahoma. They are in no way on the same level as an USC
Tim ( Magnolia)
no vince young can't pass the ball
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
Texas=Ohio State, OU=Michigan
Jeff (Houston)
Adrian Peterson - sick
Ryan (Cedar falls, Ia)
i say drew tate will be fun to watch once again
Steve Bunin
Ryan - I'm a huge Drew Tate fan, too, even if I don't live in Cedar Rapids. How about most-EXCITING player, though? Tate is clearly a better "pure quarterback" than Young right now, but who's more exciting to watch? And where are you Buckeye fans supporting Teddy Ginn, Jr?
Lamar (Griffin)
Vince Young is more exciting to watch. Its like watching a better passing version of Mike Vick. The bad part is that even tho Young can pass better than Vick it still means that everyother player throws the ball better than he does.
Paul (Boston, Ma)
Is Vince Young comparable to Mike Vick based on their athleticism?
dennis (arlington , Va)
vince will be runner up on the heisman
Chris (Youngstown)
Ala, Crouch from NEB, the how successfull Vince Young will be
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Gerald Riggs is the most exciting player in college football. That was for you Dari.
Scott G (Houston, TX)
Mack is so underrated it's not even funny. One of only two D-1 coaches with four consecutive 10+ win seasons.
Steve (Dallas)
Adrian Peterson wins the Heisman hands down!
andrew (apg)
vince young=mike vick
Tim ( Magnolia)
USC isn't makin the championship this year. They are done. Will be good but no championship
DUBLAS (HOUSTON)
HEY GUYS THIS IS THE YEAR FOR TEXAS
Geoff (Austin)
I keep hearing of all the smack from tosu fans about the big 10 being strong and unnstoppable, but if i remeber correctly didn't Texas beat UM in the rose bowl last year, the big 10 champ!! plus ohio st is coming off of a 4 loss season. I know Texas teams are always reguarded as underachieving, but at least give us some credit. Hope to see some of ya'll in columbus in a few weeks when Texas lays down the wood on the buckeyes. Hook'em!!
scott(alabama)
Ad- Adrian Peterson is the most exciting player to whatch
John (Youngstown)
Ted Ginn is the best playmaker in college football...Buckeyes will win it all again this year as long as they have enough tutors to do all the guys' homework
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Teddy Ginn has Heisman written all over him, the way he gets around the field is amazing
Chris (Youngstown)
Ginn, he beat Mich, by himself
Paul (Fullerton, CA)
Texas will face USC in the Rose Bowl unbeaten, but lose
dennis (arlington , Va)
he is not a better passer than vick
Steve Bunin (1:42 PM)
Wow - John from youngstown, coming out FIRING! Solid work, Pulsites. Keep 'em coming - who wins the National Title? Texas? Tennessee? USC? Washington? Western Michigan? Syracuse?
dennis (arlington , Va)
who is ted ginn?
gene (oklahomacity)
texas best chance against oklahoma is this year
Steve Bunin (1:43 PM)
Come on, Dennis. You know better than that. He runs circles around opponents in the Big Ten as a STUD at Ohio State! Don't you watch ESPNews on Saturdays? All in good fun, my Pulsite friend, keep firing off the emails.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Louisville over Tennessee for the National title
dennis (arlington , Va)
Texas will win the title
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Florida will be a National Championship contender with Urban Meyer at the helm
Andrew (Lusk, WY)
If Texas can survive the tough Big 12 South, they'll win the title.
Tim ( Magnolia)
none of the aboveIowa will get it
Cody (Hampton, TN)
USC, but they will not go undefeated.
Keith (Austin, TX)
Mack the practices have looked great...how well balanced do you plan on keeping the offense between running and passing? and do you think Selvin will carry most the running load or have you thought of a two back running game with taylor and charles? Either way, hook em and keep up the great coaching!
Bob (Ann Arbor)
Easy there Geoff, dont hate on Michigan. Just because you don't understand what it's like to win a conference....
Rob Cassidy (Manhattan KS)
Kansas St, the sleeper in the big 12? they could win the north. and once that happens anything is possible. We saw that two years ago.
Jason (Marietta)
Gotta go with USC.
Neil (Columbus)
Ohio State is going all the way.
Fred (Zanesville)
I can answer that question: Who is Ted Ginn? He'll be that guy holding a little bronze statue in December
Andrew (Lusk, WY)
Oklahoma will lose at least 3 games this year.
Steve Bunin (1:45 PM)
Rob - I think the heat is getting to you in Manhattan. The Wildcats are coming off one heck of a disappointing season.
Ross(Austin)
Bottom line, if the Longhorns beat oklahoma they will be national champions.
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
I'd go with Western Michigan Steve :)
Dan (Boston, MA)
USC wins again. Too much speed and depth.
Dari Nowkhah (1:49 PM)
Allright everybody... time for some Fantasy Football talk... Who's your number one pick??
Steve Bunin (1:50 PM)
Alright, Pulsites - we've got our NFL Fantasy Expert on board now. Fire off your emails!
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
Texas has just about all the pieces of the puzzle this year. One of the best D-lines, and secondaries in the country, a hard hitting preseason all america MLB, a bunch of talent and depth at RB, an electrifying Hiesman type QB, a Macky Award Watch list TE, and an excellent O-line returning all but one. Our only question is the WR position. They've got talent, it's just who's going to step up? Most of all, they've finally got a big monkey off their back with the Rose Bowl win. That should help with big game confidence this year.
Brian (Lake Worth)
You've got to go with Peyton Manning
Aaron (Ypsilanti)
Is trading Chad Pennington for Kerry Collins a good trade?
Tyler (Louisville)
LT
dennis (arlington, Va )
lets talk about nfl now
Dari Nowkhah (1:50 PM)
Dennis, we are... Fantasy football!
Ryan (Cedar Falls)
payton
Jared (Chicago)
Brett Favre!!!!!!
Dan (Boston, MA)
LT goes #1...Or Peyton.
Tyler (Louisville)
Ladainian Tomlinson
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
Julius Jones
Dari Nowkhah (1:51 PM)
Whoa Greg... Julius Jones... wanna play in MY league?
Steve (Dallas)
Greg, interesting pick! But good!
Scott N. (San Francisco, CA)
Fantasy sports have been around for over 20 years. Why is the game just now gaining so much media attention? And regarding the pending MLB lawsuit vs. fantasy operators, don't the professional sports organizations (MLB, NFL, NBA) realize that fantasy sports are creating life-long fans and generating billions in residual income as a result of passionate new fans?
Sutton (PA)
Brian Westbrook is gonna be amazing in 3years
Jason (Marietta)
Dari, I'll take you down. Put me in your league!
Dari Nowkhah (1:52 PM)
My league is full. But if I had a spot and you promised to take Julius Jones 1st, you'd be in!
Dan (Boston, MA)
big sleeper this year, David Givens of the Patriots.
Brian (Lake Worth)
Culpepper should be a top 10 pick.
Greg (Crystal Lake, IL)
You're laughing now, but I garauntee you he's gonna put up some ridiculous numbers this year. Only question is if the receivers can stay healthy enough to produce, so defenses don't just key on J.J. like they did last year, when he STILL put up numbers.
Jason (Marietta)
I may take Jones at 9, no way at 1.
Brian (Lake Worth)
Stay away from Portis...those Miami guys attitudes get in the way of their play
Steve (Dallas)
Julius goes 5 in my league.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Lee Suggs is only a sleeper if he starts and stays healthy.
Nate (Centreville)
Bret Farve should be on everone's Q'B list He is the best Q'B
Jared (Chicago)
They should make a rule that all NFL teams in the Midwest should have outdoor stadiums, and only Arizona and Florida teams can have domes.
Sutton (PA)
Dari, who do the eagles have for competition in the east
Dari Nowkhah (1:56 PM)
Sutton, I don't think they have any real competition... I think the Cowboys could be 2nd, but around 8-8... I can't see the Giants or Redskins being above .500.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Please, no dome on the new sombrero
dennis (arlington , Va)
redskins defense will rock
Bob (Murfreesboro, TN)
Do you think that Mike Anderson is going to be the starter over Tatum Bell?
THE PULSE (1:56 PM)
You're on, Bob!
John (Nashville)
Why would you stay away from Portis, He has put on 20 more pounds this year in order to carry more of a work load and be more of a pounder, I would expect a much bigger year than last year...
Tom (Chicago)
How far does Mooses' stock drop with Grossman injured?
Jason (Marietta)
Farve is overrated as a quarterback NOW. His past history is great but he takes too many chances and shoots his team in the foot too often. it's not pointed out because he's a media darling.
THE PULSE (1:57 PM)
You're up, Tom!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
yea the Giants have to guys i cant stand the horrible guy who shares my name and Spike (aka Plexico)
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
No Law, Johnson, Tedi B.: the Pats defense will drop a bit.
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
L.T. #1 Pick
THE PULSE (1:58 PM)
You're on!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Football should not be played indoors.
Neil (Columbus)
LT should be #1 on everybody's runningback list. He's simply the best. Also he's gonna have a huge season this year.
Jared (Vermont)
Forget Fantasy, I want REAL football!!!
THE PULSE (1:59 PM)
We've got more football on tap, Jared. Next up is Rodrique Wright for a little more college football (send me your comments on the Longhorns!) And then, we'll talk NFL!!
THE PULSE (2:01 PM)
Jerry Fontenot will answer your NFL questions ... BUT, we also want YOU to be the analyst. If you watched any of the preseason games last night, we REALLY want to hear from you!
THE PULSE (2:04 PM)
Vikings-Jets, Titans-Falcons, Bengals-Redskins. Who was watching? Tell me what you thought!
Hersh (Columbus, OH)
Buckeyes don't just win Sept 10 - they throw Texas a beating. Mack Brown = John Cooper
VICTOR alexandria,la
texas will be in trouble with oklahoma again in dallas.
Brendan (Boston)
Ty Law is a tad bit slow, but he's still Ty Law from what I saw last night.
THE PULSE (2:06 PM)
That's what I'm talking about, Brendan!
John (Nashville)
I thought the Titans dominated the Falcons. Barring two big plays, the Titans were by far the better team. 411 Passing yards, although the Falcons were down some people in the defense.
Tyler (Louisville)
Chad Pennington looked pretty good considering his injury.
NJ (FL)
The redskins seem more like the deadskins than anything else. having a dozen qbs lined up, and a cb who cannot settle his priorities, i figure the skins got nothing.
Justin (Detroit)
I was not impressed with the Vikings. The running back by committe doesn't work. Their receivers are Taylor and Robinson (even the Ravens cut these guys).
Timothy (Dayton, OH)
The Bengals may be a sleeper, but Carson Palmer showed he's far from a finished product. Cincy's defense better be much improved to help him out.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
For Cincinnati to be a playoff contender, they will need Rudi Johnson to be 100%
Steve Bunin (2:10 PM)
We're back to the Longhorns next, Pulsites. But there are other schools out there. Who will be this year's Utah, this year's Louisville? Who's your SURPRISE team of 2005? How about your surprise player of the year? Wake up Pulsites! We're talking college football. Where's the best place to attend a game in the land? My vote: Husky Stadium in Seattle, followed by The Big House in Ann Arbor, with much love for any stadium in the deep South.
Tony (Austin)
Texas defense will shut down Ohio State. They are too agressive and too fast for the Buckeyes. Ted Ginn is overrated and will be exposed on Sept 10th. Texas is not Okla St.
Tyler (Louisville)
Louisville! The Brohm Baby!
Sean (Boston, MA)
Surprise team: Longhorns
Ryan (Boston,MA)
Alumni Staduim is the best place to talligate. After the game right down from Chestnut Hill is Fenway Park.
Tyler (Louisville)
Brian Brohm out of Louisville
Tony (Austin)
Alabama will win the SEC west if they can stay healthy. Very solid D. LSU at home.
Antonio (Louisville)
surprise team: longhorns
Scott G (Houston, TX)
Texas has the best DT rotation in the country.
Eric (La)
Sean, how can Texas bea surprise team? Rated in top 5 polls everywhere this season. maybe by surprise you mean Longhorns don't choke somewhere along the way.
John (Nashville)
Marcus Vick. He is starting to get some publicity, but there are talks that this guy is a better athlete than his brother. I think he could lead Virginia Tech to a National Title.
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
My 2 favorites that I've been to are:#1: Beaver Stadium#2: The Swamp in Gainesville
Ryan (Cedar Falls)
i hate Iowa state but.....they are gonna be a suprise team this year too! they are looking strong and are returning alot!
charles (columbus ohio)
ohio stadium - no better atmosphere in college football
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Surprise players: Michael Bush(The best Bush in college football) and Brandon Kirsch(Better than Kyle Orton)
Sutton (PA)
USC will not be stopped
Steve Bunin (2:15 PM)
I've seen a few publications pumping Louisville ... they could do some damange, but as good as Brohm will be, replacing Stefan Lefors will NOT be easy.
Randy (Moss Bluff, Louisiana)
I'm back....just in time to say LSU will not be stopped
Sutton (PA)
whats with the poll question? vince young is way better than reggie McNeal
Ryan (Cedar Falls)
iowa city is the #1 campus on college football day in the nation!.....tailgating is amazing....ask LSU fans that were at the bowl game or any fan that has came to iowa city...its a awesome place to be on game day!
Steve (Dallas)
Surprise team that doesn't do well: USC!
Scott G (Houston, TX)
Frank Okam will be the next first round draft pick DT behind Wright.
charles (columbus,ohio)
ted ginn- will play both ways and dominate at both
Mic (Morea,PA)
Texas will win the bcs championship!!!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Beaver Stadium is a great place
Ryan (Boston,MA)
My bet would be Memphis.DeAnglo Williams could of bin the 2nd pick to the Dolphins,If not for being hurt.
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
I hate Notre Dame, but think they'll have a nice season this year
patrick (Austin)
Good Luck Mack!! Looking forward to a great season. Hook'Em
John (Nashville)
WHOA! No way is Michael Bush better than Reggie Bush. Reggie Bush is the best player in the country. He has speed, power, can catch... Is there something he can't do? Reggie Bush is the best player in the country.
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
Brohm will struggle against Pittsburgh
Antonio (Louisville)
steve how do u send emails?
Steve Bunin (2:17 PM)
Antonio - you just did.
charles (columbus ohio)
michigan is always overrated- losing edwards will be bigger than most realize
Paul (Fullerton, CA)
Matt Leinart is Mr. Back to Back Heisman winner
Geoff (Austin)
well bob,at least we play in a conference that has a conference championship, you have years where you don't even play the best teams in your conference and have to split them. ex. purdue this year. but i have nothing a against michigan, just wish texas and mack got the respect they deserve.
Justin (Detroit)
Where is the love for Florida? Leak will win the Heisman.
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
Chris Leak will be a surprise player in my view, he will have a huge year
Justin (Detroit)
Florida over USC. Leak wins Heisman
Cody (Hampton, TN)
Chris Leak, athleticism, speed, and passing
Justin (Detroit)
I can't beleive nobody is talking about Florida. Leak may win the Heisman. Urban Meyer will work his magic on this team.
THE PULSE (2:19 PM)
Alright, we're CHANGIN' GEARS. Let's talk NFL...
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Arizona Cards will go 10-6...guaranteed
Mike (Laurel,MD)
My Cowboys will go 10-6 this season
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Warner will throw 25+ TD's this year, and Arrington will rush for 10
Richard ( So. Illinois)
Do you Kurt Warner could have another year like the one he had when he was MVP?
Brian (Lake Worth, FL)
This is a make or break year for Leak...time to start living up to all the hype
charles (columbus ohio)
kurt warner is well beyond his prime
Mike (Laurel,MD)
The Cowboys D is gonna be nothing to play around with
Steve (Dallas)
The Cowboys are America's team!
Steve (Dallas)
Cowboys go 11-5. Mark it!
Randy (Moss Bluff, Louisiana)
Sains will improve to 9-7...thats it
THE PULSE (2:21 PM)
Baby steps, Randy. Baby steps.
Nick (New Bedfor, MA)
The Patriots will have two break out wide outs this year in Branch And GivensBrady will throw for about 30 to 40 TDs
Ryan (Cedar Falls)
pats will win it agian!
Nick (New Bedfor, Ma)
The New England Patriots are going to have two breake out wide outs this year in Branch and Givens. Brady is going to throw for about 30 TDs
Sean (Boston, MA)
Even though i'm a patriots fan..I don't think the PaTs will win more than 12 games..I'd say only 12 games they win.
Max (Lexington, MA)
Can the Pats overcome the losses of Romeo Crennel, Charlie Weis, Ty Law, Tedy Bruschi, Joe Andruzzi and Ted Johnson??
Dan (Boston, MA)
Pats defense will not drop. They still have Belichick who puts the players in position to make plays, and they always do.
shakelly (providence)
jets will take afc east this year!!!
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Brady will not throw 30+, hahaha maybe 25 if he's lucky, they will rely on Dillon for another great season.
John (Nashville)
I like Baltimore and Atlanta in Detroit... Both teams are improved...
Tyler (Louisville)
The steelers will top the Pats in the AFC!
Brian (Lake Worth, FL via Heinz Field)
The Steelers will get One for the Thumb this year!!! The Bus will end his career celebrating in his hometown of Detroit!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Steelers will finally win the AFC Championship game at home. And the Bus will roll over the Panthers in Detroit.
Sutton (PA)
McNabb did great in the Eagles first game against the Steelers...Reggie Browns gonna have a great rookie year
graz (phila)
Eagles a 13-3 year?
Sutton (PA)
eagles recievers may not be the bet..but theyll still beat the cowboys in the division
philly
do you think with all the problems the eagles are having with T.O. will cause the eagles to not be the NFC champs and allow the atlanta falcons to be in the super bowl
newport news, VA
This truly the Falcons year. I don't think they get enough respect. Vick wins games, so what if he runs for 80 and throws for 120. The goal is to win the game. He is a true playmaker
VICTOR alexandria,la
the falcons over the titans tonight.
Tim (Magnolia)
Atlanta has this year's division wrapped up but can they do it next year
andrew (apg)
T.O. needs to be traded for a young good wide reciever because T.O. is not helping the recieving core let alone the team
T.J. (M-F, OR)
Randy Moss is not a choir boy, with that said lets not compare him to T.O. He has been a model participant in Raiders camp so far
Tyler (Louisville)
Super Bowl preview:Steelers vs Falcons
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Is Todd Pinkston a threat with T.O. havin his soap opera with D. Mcnabb
Tim (St. Paul)
I guess Randy Moss and TO have one more thing in common...both want the green...TO spends it, Randy smokes it
THE PULSE (2:27 PM)
Brilliant, Tim! Brilliant!
Bryan (Marion Ohio)
I think that life after Randy Moss will be a good thing for the Vikings and they will enjoy alot of success
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
The Vikings are not better off without Randy Moss.
Rick (Lester Prairie, MN)
Vikings are easily a 12-4 team this year, quite possibly superbowl bound!
Timmie (Champaign, IL)
now I know why moss is so skinny!
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
The Chargers need Antonio Gates. More precisely, Drew brees needs Antonio Gates, or the Chargers might not do very well.
shakelly (providence)
steelers??? no matter what you say, they were lucky to survive the jets game in the playoffs last year
John (Nashville)
The Ravens have it all at this point... Their biggest weakness was that they did not have any decent Wide Receivers. So they go out and get the most under rated receiver in the league... I don't see anyone stopping them...
Dre' (NH)
this is the ravens year to win it all. with the patriots w/o bruschi or johnson the ravens will get by peyton manning and the colts to beat the jets in the afc championship guaranteed
John (Studio City CA)
How sick will Ravens defense be this season with Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Sumari Rolle?
THE PULSE (2:31 PM)
Who's got questions for Vince Dooley -- former Georgia head coach?? Hit me!
THE PULSE (2:34 PM)
Baseball fans, hang tight. Paul Lo Duca is coming up this hour, too. Send him your questions now. I'll start rounding them up!
Dari Nowkhah (2:37 PM)
Allright. Vince Dooley next! Give us some questions and thoughts... Herschel was the man by the way!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
What is "Lo"? Is it his middle name or part of his last name?
Dylan (Frankfort NY)
FOR Paul LoDuca:How do u feel catching for Dontrelle Willis? with that windup doesnt it make it challinging to catch?
Steve Bunin (2:38 PM)
Calvin - it's part of his last name... Dylan - I'll ask him that when we talk to him! Good question.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
What about Marshall Faulk for the best college RB ever. How could you leave off Marshall, Marshall, Marshall?
Steve Bunin (2:40 PM)
Calvin - my thoughts exactly. He was off the hook at San Diego State!
THE PULSE (2:41 PM)
Alright, Vince Dooley is in the house. We'll kick it off with him after the break.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
I like to ask Vince Dooley what his brother Bill Dooley is doing now. Bill did a great job at Wake Forest. It was a shame he was not there longer.
Bowling Green, Ohio
Omar Jacobs out of BGSU will be in NY this year.
TY (Knoxville, TN)
Coach Dooley, please explain to ESPN once and for all, why the SEC is the best conference in the NCAA, thanks.
THE PULSE (2:44 PM)
Ah, Ty, you're going to get some people all wound up in here.
Steve Bunin (2:44 PM)
Wow - we got some MAC love out there.
J-Lo New York
im new can you guys fill me in on how to do this
Steve Bunin (2:45 PM)
J-LO? IS THAT YOU? Well, you just did it. You email us, and whoever isn't interviewing a guest, we'll answer you. Plus, our experts can answer your questions if you direct it to them. It's the PULSE, the greatest show in the history of television. Or at least that's ever aired on ESPNews from 1-4pm ET, 10a-1pm PT.
chase montgomeryt.tx
walker was the boom thank u for coaching him coach dooley!
Greg (southern california)
Coach, what would you do to improve the current BCS system? Go trojans!
chris (Springfield ,mo)
For Dooley: Do you think you will ever coach again?
James (Syracuse)
Coach, Why isnt there still a Playoff System in Div 1 Football?
Mike (Laughlin, NV)
how come my questions don't get posted?
Steve Bunin (2:48 PM)
What now, Mike? Come on, you gotta come with some A-Game to get your question on the PULSE. We have high expectations here!
Josh Kredit (IN)
Coach, How do you think geogia will do this year with all the greats teams in the SEC
Jared (Chicago)
and ain't no english in the sec
Mike (Minneapolis)
Barry Sanders is THE best College Football Running back ever. If he wouldn't have had Thurman Thomas ahead of him for his first couple of years he would have the All-Time NCAA record for rushing yards. His Junior year was the best ever by a running back, NCAA, Pro, or otherwise.
Steve Bunin (2:50 PM)
Well put, Mike. But you could say that of anybody who was stuck behind a good upperclassmen RB (or QB for that matter).
Eli (Pittsburgh)
BCS = Big Confusing System
SAM (New York)
USC ALL THE WAY. THEY ARE UNSTOPABLE! THEY WOULD CRUSH ANY TEAM IN ANY CONFERENCE. NO QUESTION! EVEN THE SEC!
Sutton (PA)
USC all the way, Matt cannot be stopped
THE PULSE (2:51 PM)
Whoa, sorry about that. We lost Coach Dooley.
Steve Bunin (2:51 PM)
alright, paul lo duca is sitting down - ready to be interviewed - send in y our Qs, Pulsites!
THE PULSE (2:51 PM)
Paul Lo Duca is in the chair live in Florida!
Greg (Southern California)
This show is awesome by the way, first time my question was asked on the air! Thanks Pulse!
THE PULSE (2:52 PM)
Glad you're having fun, Greg. We've got another hour left!.
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
I would like to know what Paul Lo Duca thinks about the NL East being so close together.
Patrick (Las Vegas)
I have been a fan of Paul Lo Duca for many years now. I wonder what he says to a pitcher when he's in a jam?
SAM (New York)
QUESTION FOR PAUL LO DUCAWho do you think is going to win the NL west and who in the NL west is the best since you have just recently played them?
Joey P. (Falls Church, VA)
Paul how crazy has this N.L. Wild Card chase gotten with so many teams in contention?
Greg( Riverside, CA)
The Marlins pitching is doing real good but is it enough to win the NL wild card?
Lou Gutowski (Toms River, NJ)
Paul LoDuca,What is it like catching guys like Dontrelle Willis, AJ Burnett, and Josh Beckett knowing these guys are so young and have the potential to be some of the greatest pitchers in baseball history down the line.Lou
Mike (Laughlin, NV)
Ask paulie if his horse "The Wegi" is running in florida?
THE PULSE (2:57 PM)
Ahha. We'll see if we can get to that one.
Kurt (Lincoln)
Paul LoDuca is my hero! Just wanted to say what's up
chris (Springfield ,mo)
For Lo duca: Who was your favorite Catcher as a Kid?
THE PULSE (2:58 PM)
You're on, Chris. Lo Duca is a Fisk fan!
Mike (Laughlin, NV)
Ask Paulie if he still practices hitting using pinto beans!!
THE PULSE (2:59 PM)
You're up, Mike!
Josh Kredit (IN)
Mr. Lo Duca, If you had to pick a pitcher to start game seven who would it be
THE PULSE (3:00 PM)
You're up on TV, Josh.
Brian (Lake Worth)
How do you email to get on TV?
THE PULSE (3:00 PM)
You send it in right here. We get thousands of posts ... so a little patience goes a long way. :)
chris (Springfield ,mo)
yes, i made.
matt (lauderhill)
good question
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
I used to use pinto beans, but I spit the out of my mouth then hit them.
THE PULSE (3:01 PM)
Very innovative, Aaron.
THE PULSE (3:02 PM)
Antonio Gates update: T-minus 28 minutes.
Patrick (Las Vegas)
This is awesome
Patrick (MA)
give gates the money!!
kyle (east meadow, NY)
Antonio Gates should get a new contract for all he did last season, if he didn't do great then Drew Brees wouldn't be the comback player of the year!!!!!
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Big contract or not you can't deny Gates's talent, without him the Chargers would have been a mess last year, give him the new deal.
Patrick (MA)
Gates deserves more money, there are tight ends in the league that three times the money he does, and only bring about a third of what he can do to their teams
Paul King (Portland)
Why?????????????????????????????? is Antonio Gates not getting paid what he deserves? Tony Gonzales is a joke!
miami of ohio (oxford)
Gates dosnt deserve the money... the money belongs to drew
Mike (Minneapolis)
He better get in, I need him for my fantasy team
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
I think Gates is at his house watching The Pulse, who wouldn't.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Who are the Chargers fooling? They are not going to suspend Gates, at least not for the 1st regular season game. They don't want to shart 0-1.
Josh kredit (Shelbyville)
If i am antonio gates im playin. Ill wait for money but i cant wait to play
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Phillip Rivers should gvie Antonio Gates some of his money. It's Rivers' contract that is hurting Gates' renegotiating.
Zach (Hagerstown)
Gates deserves more money.
Kurt (Lincoln)
Gates is good, but he does not compare to Tony Gonzalez.
josh (downing, wi)
considering tony gonzalez avg's 80 grabs and 10 tds a year for the last seven years
bosoxfan8830 (VaBch)
Many people deserve more money but they honor contracts thatthey signed, . He and all others need to go to work and renegotiate there. It would be nice if they would quit crying also!!!
Gregory ((southern cali))
steve do you know whos going to be on next week?
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
It's ridiculous that Hines Ward is not even getting 2 mil. a year!!!
Steve Bunin (3:07 PM)
Can't say I do. We got former NFL off.lineman Jerry Fontenot coming up next, and Tony Stewart later in the hour.
Dylan (NY)
GIVE ANTONIO HIS MONEY! if hes not comin in today then obviously he wants the green alot and u cant take away from the guy hes way to underpaid
chris (Springfield ,mo)
gates deserves a better contract. T.O. doesn't.
Todd (Salt Lake city)
rivergate! the san diego controversy!
James (Syracuse)
You're right, Gates is Better than gonzalez
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Why does TO need more money isnt he getting in the next 6 yrs something like 49 million. How many people in here will ever see 49 million.
Nick (Mansfield, OH)
Gates only had one good year, he needs to prove he can be consistant on a regular basis
Todd (Salt Lake city)
gates is no K2 - thank god!
Dari Nowkhah (3:08 PM)
How bad a season could it be for the Bears... Rex, ouch. Cedric, where ya at? Any Bears fans out there?
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Gates deserves a new deal, by playing hardball they aren't exactly going to get a happy gates in return without a new deal.
josh (downing, wi)
i'll take shockey anyday...does everything and he's a big time gamer...block, catch, he can run
Kurt (Lincoln)
How many years has Gates been in the league?
Greg (Southern California)
They should pay Gates more money of course, but not Tony Gonzales type money. It was just one year, he needs to prove it over and over like Tony!
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
Why do ex-basketball players make such great TEs?
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Yea its sad when a kicker gets paid more than a Pro Bowler TE.
josh (downing, wi)
i'm with austin, ward very underrated
miami of ohio (oxford)
who cares the chargers dont need him at all
miami of ohio (oxford)
james - gonzalez is way better
Steve Bunin (3:08 PM)
Oxford, OH - you sure about that?
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
T.O. is ridiculous I understand that he's not the top 10 paid receiver in the league but c'mon, you deserve this T.O., hines Ward is the one who should be mad about his horrible contract.
Todd (Salt Lake city)
shockey = flash in the pan
Josh Kredit (IN)
what T.O. complaining about im mean if 9.2 mill isnt enough i say we put him in iraq making 30 thousand dollars a year while risking your life.
James (Syracuse)
gates earned .3 million in base salary last year, multiply it by at least ten and give him some money
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Gates can wait for his contract to expire to get more money
chris (Springfield ,mo)
Gonzalez is the best TE of all-time.
Victor alexandria,la
i thought iheard coach dooley say we had the best team. your allowed to get him back after the show or we stay until 5p.m et
James (Syracuse)
Gonzalez is not way better
Dre' (NH)
i'm amazed that you are talking about antonio gates and not T.O. for once
Dari Nowkhah (3:10 PM)
Hey Victor, I can't believe you didn't ask Vince about Tennessee... I'm shocked!
James (Syracuse)
Jay Novacek is the best TE of all time
joe (jersey )
gates is the man
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Tony G. is the best tight end in the league
josh (downing, wi)
wisconsin is takin over the pulse here....go packers
Patrick (Las Vegas)
USC could destroy the Bears.
dtodd
y dont my questions get posted
Kurt (Lincoln)
If the Bears get Cedric to play, they will be in for a real big treat. He's a very special player.
miami of ohio (oxford)
TO is the most overated player besides brian urlacher
josh (downing, wi)
wow how about kellen winslow there slick...most catches all time by TE
Mark (Charlotte)
If San Diego isn't crazy they'll give Gates what he wants. LT can't do it by himself.
Curt (Cable WI)
Bears are a joke 5-6 wins
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
The Muppets could destroy the Chicago Bears!
Mike (baltimore)
Bears are the Royals of the NFL
Dari Nowkhah (3:12 PM)
Okay, Gates has had ONE great year... ONE great year should NOT get him paid anywhere near Tony Gonzalez money... not even close!
Rick (Lester Prairie,MN)
Gates is talented, but Tony proves himself year in and year out, maybe in 5 years we can say he better than Tony.
Krieg (Wisconsin)
Cedric Benson should just shut his mouth and play.
miami of ohio (oxford)
agree
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
I'm sure T.O. wouldn't have started this dispute if it wasn't for Drew Rosenhaus.
andy (vestal)
yea it shoud
Rick Campbell (Half Moon Bay)
Antonio Gates should report to camp, but the owners need to make sure that he knows of their commitment to restucture a new deal. Face it the guy's a stud and was a major reason for Drew Brees nice comeback and to the Chargers success last season.
Dari Nowkhah (3:13 PM)
Why Andy?
patrick (little rock ar)
bears should release Grossman and get Lienart or young in the draft
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Exactly Dari
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
Without gates, Chargers will have 4-12 season.
James (Syracuse)
Kellen Winslow Jr, makes more money than Gates, and he didnt even have One Good Year
josh (downing, wi)
doesnt matter...teams will stack run vs. bears like crazy to make them pass....neither jones nor benson will have a good year...thank the lord the chicago fans have the white sox
Kurt (Lincoln)
Don't be talking trash about Cedric. You ain't never been in his situation.
Bud (Irvine, CA)
Is Rex Grossman a fragile player?
Todd (Salt Lake city)
it should get him more than mark breuner money
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Ward has had 4 pro bowl years with 3 different QBs isnt that worth something
Dari Nowkhah (3:14 PM)
Eli... Hines deserves his money... Antonio doesn't... YET.
James (Syracuse)
Wasn't gates a Pro Bowler? he deserves a raise
Krieg (Wisconsin)
Gates deserves more money, WHEN his contract is done.
John (Nashville)
Interesting... Gonzalez is a football player trying to break into the NBA, and Gates is a basketball player breaking into the NFL...
chad (Springfield ,mo)
The bears might not win a game all year.
Dari Nowkhah (3:14 PM)
Kreig, right on.
Steve (Dallas)
Chargers get crushed by the Cowboys on Sept. 11.
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
I don't even think Brees will have a year like last year with 27 TD's so that may lead to a Gates offyear or just a one hit wonder.....
Joe (Evansville, IN)
The Chargers jerked Brees around about a new contract, what makes you think that they will consider giving Gates more money?
Josh Kredit (IN)
Who is cedric benson? I mean make a name in the bigs then complain
Mark (Charlotte)
We're only talking about Tony and Gates because both teams have squat recievers.
Curt (Cable WI)
Rex Grossman is made of paper mache
Andy (Vestal)
Antonio gates is just a freak athlete and tony gonazalez is aging a little, i would take antonio gates over any reciever besides randy moss, thats why dari cuz hes better
miami of ohio (oxford)
james who had more pro bowls ward or gates yeah ward
James (Syracuse)
If Gonzo is SO much better than Gates, how come Fantasy owners are drafting Gates ahead of Gonzo for the most part on average??
Dari Nowkhah (3:16 PM)
Gates may put up Gonzo numbers now... but he can't have 1 good year and demand the money Gonzo has earned over 8 great years.
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Hines gets more money but gates and T.O shouldn't get any
Joe (Evansville, IN)
That whole "Pro Bowl-er" arguement is so overrated. All that means is the fans like you, it doesn't mean your that great.
Greg (Southern California)
I hope Antonio Gates doesnt show up on time, just make the game on Sept. 11th even easier for the cowboys!
chad (Miller ,mo)
The chiefs could win it all this year with a middle of the pack defense.
Patrick (Las Vegas)
They need a new RB badly sign Benson! Anyone besides Luke Staley.
Ryan (Harrisonburg)
Gates is an awesome player and is one of the leagues best young talents at tight end. He doesn't deserve to make the league minimum.
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Rex Grossman plays like paper mache.
Dan (Boston)
People are taking Gates becaue he is younger and no one wants to be the one to let him slip by.
James (Syracuse)
im not comparing Gates to Ward, they both deserve a raise
Steve Bunin (3:18 PM)
alright pulsites -- Our thanks to Jerry - great Ditka story - and now it's more College Football. I saw some of the blog, and I gotta say - it seems like there ain't much love for Ced Benson.
ruben (porterville, ca)
With or without Benson the Bears wont be contenders even if they were a college team
James (Syracuse)
Cedric Benson doesnt Love football, if he did, he'd be in camp
Steve Bunin (3:20 PM)
My question to all you Pulsites is - what would you do to fix the BCS? Personally, I'm flabbergasted the powers-that-be don't set up at least a 16-team playoff. Imagine how much more interested you'd be in the Independence Bowl or Sun Bowl!
THE PULSE (3:21 PM)
Let's talk college football ... Here comes Joe Schad ...
Andy (Vestal)
who cares about college football the only reason they have it is for the students to have somethin to do durin school
THE PULSE (3:21 PM)
1. USC2. Texas3. Tenn.4. Michigan5. LSU
THE PULSE (3:21 PM)
That's what the AP says, anyway.
Steve Bunin (3:21 PM)
Andy - from Vestal, New York? How is the Vestal Parkway these days? Always a dicey traffic situation there near Binghamton at rush hour.
jacob (fairview WV)
why is WVU not picked to finish above pitt in the Big East ? it is crazy! i don't look for WVU to lose a Big East game this season, b/c they play UL and Pitt @ home ! what do u think about West Virginia ?
Steve (Dallas)
Playoff system. That's all that needs to be said.
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Have a college Super Bowl between the best two teams
Todd (Salt Lake City)
the powers that be make too much money off of bowls!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
the only way to fix the BCS is to get rid of it and have a playoff
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Steve, do you sit there and type messages when you guys are doing interviews?
Steve Bunin (3:23 PM)
Austin - yes and no. Right now, Dari is interviewing Joe Schad, our CFB expert. But while he's doing that, I can blog with you. It's the PULSE! That's just how we roll.
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
without college football, where would the nfl rookies come from.
Kurt (Lincoln,TX)
What is up with some people criticizing my boy Vince Young. Didn't he prove something in the Rose Bowl.
brandon (stillwater, OK)
Here's what you do....get rid of those first two to three games each good college team plays (ex. Miami v. Colorado Tech) and play straight up conference games. Top team in each conference goes to the playoffs in each conference.
John (Pittsburgh)
Pitt is favored mainly because of Dave W; but I think WVU has more talent
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Chris Leak is something special.
josh (downing, wi)
last year was no contest...usc was best team..this year is no contest...but in years to come the ncaa needs to correct the bowl season
Dan (Boston)
how do you determine the two best teams without a playoff system?
Josh Kredit (IN)
I think the winners of the cnference championship should be in the playoffs
Krieg (Wisconsin)
Tennessee is way overatted.
Mike (Minneapolis)
Joe Schad Question - What are your thoughts on Laurence Maroney and the Minnesota Golden Gophers? Is Maroney a legit Heisman candidate?
Steve Bunin (3:26 PM)
Mike - I ain't Joe Schad, but I know his answer - ABSOLUTELY. With Marion Barber III in the NFL, Mauroney could very well rush for 2,200 yards. You HEARD IT HERE FIRST, PULSITES!
Josh Kredit (IN)
Can the Boilers get to the rose bowl? IF you ask me they have the weapons to do it.
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Watch out for Wisconsin they will surprise people trust me they are the sleeper team in CFB
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
How do you determine the two best teams with a playoff system?
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Sounds interesting Steve..so you don't listen to interviews?
Steve Bunin (3:27 PM)
Of course we listen to the interviews, Austin. It's called MULTI-TASKING! Gotta run, we've got a big Antonio Gates update coming up in 3 minutes.
Steve Bunin (3:27 PM)
But as a 3-year resident in Flagstaff, AZ, keep the Grand Canyon State represented!
Steve Bunin (3:28 PM)
Hey Mike - look at that! You're on the PULSE!!!
Greg (Southern California)
Your crazy Steve, he wont run for 90 yards against OSU, MICH, PENN ST.
Todd (Salt Lake City)
wisconsin maybe a sleeper.. but the still lose to bowling green in the season opener
Andy (Vestal NY)
Erik Ainge will win the Hiesman and the vols will win the championship, this is my 8th time saying it on the pulse and nobody puts it on.... theres no love for the vols in bristol??
Corey Willingboro NJ
Can Auburn win the SEC championship again and do you feel they are ranked to low in the AP poll?
Steve Bunin (3:28 PM)
You're on, Corey.
Steve Bunin (3:28 PM)
We love you, Corey!
Andy (Vestal NY)
my goal in life is to be on the pulse
Andy (Vestal NY)
i want to marry the pulse
Dari Nowkhah (3:32 PM)
Wear a white dress, okay Andy?
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Gates wil show up at the last minute
Josh Kredit (IN)
I hate commercials who invented them?
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
A three-game suspention for Gates is too light in my opinion.
Dari Nowkhah (3:32 PM)
they help pay for the pulse, Josh.
Greg (Southern California)
Suspend Gates please, go cowboys!
ruben (porterville, ca)
Give Gates the money or San Diego is going to get the Owens effect
Austin (Phoenix, Az)
Steve I told you he wouldnt report, he's watching The Pulse!
donnie (Plains MT)
Gates was a one year wonder
Pat (Dallas)
I think they should give Gates one more year and if he has a solid year they should give him a raise. He' s only making $0.3 mil.
Krieg (Wisconsin)
Chargers are going to lose their first game to the Cowboys if they suspend Gates.
James (Syracuse)
With or Without Gates the Cowboys/Chargers opener should be a great game
chad (miller, mo)
I'm a Chiefs fan but I would still like to see gates playing.
Jordan (Derby)
i say if he is good enough you give him the money so he will shut up.
Sean (Boston, MA)
Chant -- ''Suspend Gates! Suspend Gates!''
josh (downing, wi)
ok one q, how do you guys talk to us while ur at the desk?
Dari Nowkhah (3:35 PM)
steve's talking, i'm typing. See!!
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Well Dari Steve good show I gotta go keep on Pulsing. I will be back watching the Pulse whenver im back home from College.
Dari Nowkhah (3:35 PM)
Eli, have a great year at college... thanks for watching. BTW, what college?
Tony (Fairfield Me)
Remember when Richard Seymour was holding out...granted it was early on, but the bottom line was if you aren't ready to play, Belichek won't play you...regardless of what you make. This Idea of suspending Gates...just don't play this "project" with one good year under his belt.
Patrick (Las Vegas)
These fantasy football commercials are funny
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania
Joe (Evansville, IN)
The success Gates had is becuase of Drew Brees. Taking that into consideration, Gates should be happy to make that 300k so they have more money to keep Brees.
Joe (Evansville, IN)
I don't know about your school Eli, but we have Pulse parties every Saturday at U of Southern Indiana.
Steve Bunin (3:37 PM)
We got Tony Stewart comoing up Pulsites -- any NASCAR questions for the best driver of the year?
Donnie (Plains, Mt)
NASCAR is for the daring, and Tony you are THEMAN
Asher (PW, New York)
Yeah , they are hilarious
Steve (Memphis)
BTW, we will trade the Grizzlies to Bristol, CT if ESPN shows the NHL again!
Jared (Chicago)
This is truly a fan's show. I figured my mocking of ESPN wouldn't get on the board, but it did. The Pulse rules.
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
How long has this chat thing been available during "The Pulse?" And why am I just now finding this out?
Dari Nowkhah (3:39 PM)
DC, it's been around as long as the show has. Where you been?
Asher (PW, New York)
Gates still has to catch the ball thrown by Brees so its not all Brees
Kurt (Lincoln,TX)
No questions for Tony, if I want to see cars race I can go outside and watch the highway for awhile.
Mike (baltimore)
With or without gates, LT will still run all over the dreaded Cowboy defense.
Dari Nowkhah (3:39 PM)
Kurt, is your highway a road course or an oval?
Jordan (Derby KS)
GO TONY!!!!!!!
John (Pittsburgh)
THE PULSE kicks serious butt; Steve is awesome. Steve, have you ever thought of buzzing your hair off? Would look cool, man.
Dari Nowkhah (3:40 PM)
Oh yeah, he'd look awesome! he could even shave a Pulse logo into his head.
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
I used to work during the day, but now I only work part time. How long has the show been on?
Dari Nowkhah (3:41 PM)
D.C... the show has been on 21 weeks now. Thanks for watching.
John (Pittsburgh)
Yeah, Dari. Just like Kruk's supposed to do the Royals logo in his head
Tony (Fairfield Me)
I'm not a big Nascar Fan, but have often seen drivers emerge from the car DRENCHED....what's the cabin temperature in your ride in a midsummer race?
josh (downing, wi)
yeah i hope krukky shaves the kc into the side of his head as he said he might
Jordan (Derby KS)
for like ever man
Kurt (Lincoln,TX)
Dari, I was just kidding, but NASCAR just ain't the same without Dale Earnhardt.
THE PULSE (3:42 PM)
it's hot. super-hot.
Dari Nowkhah (3:42 PM)
I gotcha Kurt... but Tony Stewart is tearing it up right now.
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Hey Steve you should shave your head into a Green Bay Packer LOGO
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
Dari, you and Steve keep up the good work; this is very enjoyable.
Andy (Vestal NY)
hey steve ur the espnews comedian u have to rub off on dari hes always so serious, make him tell a joke or something
Dari Nowkhah (3:43 PM)
Come on Andy, I'm not always serious... See, I just told a joke! :)
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Tony Stewart needs to shave more often.
eric (San Bernardino, CA)
Tony Stewart is an overrated driver!
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Dari no offense or anything but you never talk to people from Wisconsin do you have something against us
Dari Nowkhah (3:46 PM)
Andy, are you accusing me of State-icm? come on... I love all people... including those from Wisconsin! Why wouldn't I?
josh (downing, wi)
im not seeing it dari dont worry
Dari Nowkhah (3:46 PM)
Josh has my back... thanks Josh.
alex (tampa, FL)
Lets go Rusty!!!!!!!!!!
Asher (PW, New York)
How is he overrated if hes won 5 out of the last 7?
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Whoa, hold on. Tony has been on fire the past 2 months, skyrocketed to the top of the points, and he is overrated. I'm just not seeing it.
J-Lo New York
are my messages going through because theyre not showing up
Tom (MIZZOU)
How can you be an overrated driver thats like being an overrated breather...
eric (San Bernardino, CA)
1 good run!
Steve (Dallas)
Tony needs to win teh Nextel Cup this year to prove he's legit.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Dari, you must have gotten sick when Joe Schad said that Chris Leak is struggling.
Dari Nowkhah (3:48 PM)
Why Calvin, I'm not a Gator.
josh (downing, wi)
good work steve...really stuck the interview
Steve (Dallas)
Dari is a Sooner like me!
Patrick (Las Vegas)
Gates is probably playing Madden right about now
Josh Kredit (IN)
what an idiot. gates is so stupid
John (Nashville)
Why is Nascar considered a sport?
Jordan (Derby KS)
well there went the chargers season
Curt (Cable WI)
Dale Jr. and Danica Patrick are the most overrated drivers.
josh (downing, wi)
ncaa football 06 much better than madden could ever dream of being..players look realistic...no roid rage
Marc (Boston)
I hope Gates gets into camp, my fantasy draft is Tuesday.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
If Gates suspension is really 3 games, it would not include the regular season since the Chargers have 3 preseason games left.
Dari Nowkhah (3:51 PM)
Calvin, it would also include the opener vs Dallas.
Steve Bunin (3:51 PM)
Alright Pulsites, let's keep it focused on SPORTS!!!! Let's talk Longhorns. I am among those who are scared of all the hype Vince Young is getting. Who's the most overhyped athlete in sports?
James (Syracuse)
Danica has finished in the top ten in almost every race this year, and almost won the indy 500, get off her back
chad (miller, mo)
I think Oklahoma has Texas' number. Texas can never seem to get over the hump.
josh (downing, wi)
gates will only miss one game tops..the three game suspension includes two preseason games...chargers arent dumb
Tony (Buellton, CA)
Texas is a good team, but not as good as USC
John (Pittsburgh)
Easy one, Steve: T.O.!!!!
eric (san bernardino, CA)
Got to be Tiger Woods
Patrick (Las Vegas)
With or without Gates, the Chargers aren't gonna go 3-13 or anything like that, have you guys forgot about LT?
Marc (Boston)
Danica Patrick isn't overrated, people are just expecting too much of her and can't comprehend that she's only a ROOKIE.
jesse (seattle)
Felix Hernadez is the best pitcher
Kurt (Lincoln)
Danica is a stud
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
The most overhyped athlete in sports? Derek Jeter.
J-Lo (New York)
Danica is cool
J-Lo New York
Matt Leinart
Tom (MIZZOU)
When Rodrique Wright from Texas gets in ask him how he plans to contain my boy Brad Smith of the Tigers?
Tony (Fairfield Me)
Steve, It's gotta be T.O. His sport is still in the preseason!!!...
chad (miller, mo)
Michelle Wie is overhyped for now, but she will be great in the future.
Pete
HYPE = t.o.
Andy (Fond du Lac WI)
Steve you should get your head shaved into a Green Bay Packers Logo
James (Syracuse)
overhyped athlete ? Cedric Benson or Kellen Winslow Jr
josh (downing, wi)
Most overhyped...any nba star
Steve Bunin (3:54 PM)
Andy - I'll run that by the wife, but I doubt it'll fly. Thanks for watching, though!
Steve (Dallas)
Vince Young.
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Sydney Crosby, hands down. The kid is being marketed as the one who revive a league on life support. By the way, he just turned 18.
Steve Bunin (3:54 PM)
Vince could be overrated - he's definitely the key to Texas' season.
Steve (Dallas)
Joey Harrington.
Steve Bunin (3:54 PM)
Steve - you're just throwing out random names. Who's the MOST overrated or overhyped?
chad (miller, mo)
Darko milicic is overhyped also.
Curt (Cable WI)
Dale Jr. most overrated
Tom (MIZZOU)
The most overhyped athlete of the past 10 years is without a question Anna Kournikova(sp?)
Justin (Detroit)
Peyton Manning is most overrated. Never wins the big game (including college)
Josh Kredit (IN)
is vince young the next Michael Vick.
eric (San Bernardino, CA)
Joey doesn't get any hype
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Is Steve Spurrier an athlete? He is definitely the most overhyped coach.
jesse (spokane,wa)
randy moss is the best wide reciver in the nfl
Steve (Dallas)
Overrated ok= Longhorns and T.O.
Greg (Southern California)
Hey Mack, would you rather have vince young or matt leinard
josh (downing, wi)
Noone thinks harrington is good...hes not overrated
Andy (Vestal NY)
stephon marbury majorly overrated every team hes been to has gone straight down the dumps as soon as they acquired him
James (Syracuse)
Overrated could be Marcus Vick, he is not his brother
D.C. (Shoreline, WA)
Most of the Yankees.
Mike (Minneapolis)
The most overhyped athlete in sports has to be Drew Brees. He is not that good, he just got lucky by drawing an easy schedule last year.
jesse (spokane,wa)
a-rod is overrated
J-Lo New York
Alex Smith
Steve Bunin (3:56 PM)
