The Pulse (8:04 PM)
So start sounding off for this week's guests, including LeBron James and Olympic hero Michael Phelps.
The Pulse (8:04 PM)
ESPN experts like Tim Kurkjian talking baseball and Joe Schad talking college football.
The Pulse (8:05 PM)
IRL driver Tomas Scheckter and Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge.
The Pulse (8:05 PM)
The first ESPNEWS Fantasy Football Draft ...
The Pulse (8:05 PM)
And your analysis of Friday's NFL preseason games!
The Pulse (10:48 AM)
Hey, it's Saturday morning and we're mere hours away from The Pulse hitting the air on ESPNEWS! We'll start chatting a little before the show starts at 1 p.m. ET, but for now, how about some questions for Olympic hero Michael Phelps? Anything you want to ask him?
The Pulse (11:39 AM)
As far as Michael Phelps, remember he's from Maryland and an Orioles fan. So if you're curious about his take as an elite athlete/fan on Palmeiro, now would be the time to ask ...
The Pulse (11:50 AM)
And, of course, send your questions for LeBron James!
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
hey guys i love the pulse
The Pulse (12:43 PM)
That's what we like to hear, Jeremy. We're only minutes away from showtime.
Andy (Wisconsin)
Me Too
Steve (Dallas)
Guys, how are you today?
The Pulse (12:44 PM)
We're great, Steve. It's a big day here. LeBron James, Michael Phelps ... and the ESPNEWS Fan Fantasy Football Draft? Wow!
The Pulse (12:45 PM)
Some great questions coming in for LeBron, keep those coming.
Andy (Wisconsin)
Who are you interviewing first
The Pulse (12:47 PM)
We'll be talking MLB with Tim Kurkjian early in the first hour.
The Pulse (12:48 PM)
What do you think of the race in the AL? Yankees, A's and Indians neck and neck!
Steve (Dallas)
IS Amber back?
The Pulse (12:48 PM)
You betcha. Dari and David will be chatting right here.
Jeff (Frederick)
Are you talking college football today?
The Pulse (12:49 PM)
You know it. We're talking about the No. 1 team in the ESPNEWS preseason poll, we've got some other preview stuff from the GameDay guys, and Joe Schad taking your questions!
The Pulse (12:50 PM)
But back to baseball ...
Robase (Dayton OH)
If the Cleveland Indians win the wildcard, do you see them being the new power in the AL central?
The Pulse (12:50 PM)
We ran a poll on ESPN.com earlier this week that had the Indians running away as the team with the brightest future in the AL, Robase.
Patrick J (Cleveland)
My Tribe has the best balance of pitching and offense right now.....if that keeps up I think the October magic will be returning to Jacob's Field
joe, nyc
I think the yankees are gonna win the wild card, then play boston in the alcs, and win in seven. Just like the red sox did last year.
Steve (Dallas)
Indians win the WC, and the A's win the AL West.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Brighter than the Tigers?
The Pulse (12:51 PM)
Yep, the Tigers were third, behind the Indians and A's.
Steve (Saugus MA)
The yankees will probably win the WC, but lose to the team they play in the first round
Mike (Baltimore)
If Wright and Johnson can be a little more consistent, the Yankees will run away with the wild card while the A's and the Indians have already had their hot streaks and will both choke as the season plays out?
Steve (Saugus MA)
The yanks cant rely on their Starting Pitching...its been letting them down all year, thats why they lose in the divisionals
Clay (New York)
Yankees' experience in past races will make the differance.
Sean (San Jose, CA)
A's win the AL West? It's all Angels there
Patrick J (Cleveland)
Right now the Indians are following the model of success they did ten years ago.....and if they give these guys contract extensions they have a chance at having another dynasty run in the AL Central.
Jeff (Frederick)
I think the yankees are hitting their stride and will take the wild card
Steve (Saugus MA)
Experience means nothing...look at last years ALCS for a shining example...they 'experienced' themselves into the record books..and not in a good way
The Pulse (12:57 PM)
How about the NL Cy Young race? Dontrelle goes today, does he stand a chance vs. Clemens and Carpenter?
Patrick J (Cleveland)
The Angels bullpen is good enough to lock up the division, but the A's could be due for another hot streak, it's just too unwise to ever rule out the A's.
Chris (Indianapolis)
The Indians will have no excuse if they don't win the wild card, they have the easiest road to get there. However, their inexperience may catch up to them.
Andy (Wisconsin)
I think its Chris Carpenter it has to be
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
not clemens but carpenter he has a shot at but roger wins the cy young
The Pulse (1:00 PM)
We're live on ESPNEWS!
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Willis needs a September similiar to his April if he wants a shot at the Cy Young.
Steve (Saugus MA)
Dontrelle is on my fantasy team..hes been way too inconsistent overall compared to Clemens and Carpenter to get the CY
Paul (Bowie,Md)
Clemens got no runs early on, he would allow 2 runs and lose the game.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
It will be the best Pulse ever when Jeremy Bonderman becomes a guest.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
it will be the best pulse ever if no one talks about T.O
The Pulse (1:03 PM)
Uh oh ...
Mike (Baltimore)
with Mulder not starting today, this will leave Carpenter will be the only 20 game winner in the NL this season, combine that with his other stellar stats and he's a lock for the Cy Young.
The Pulse (1:04 PM)
Do wins matter more than ERA?
The Pulse (1:05 PM)
Here's Tim Kurkjian ...
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
no era is more important than wins
Andy (Wisconsin)
Wins matter More
Frank (Orlando)
ERA is very important but also if your team isnt winning you shouldnt get the CY Young
Ken (Richmond, VA)
ERA means more to me especially when you consider Clemens has a 1.56 ERA in that bandbox.
Steve (Dallas)
ERA matter more than wins. It's on how many runs you give up not how many wins you have.
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
I believe ERA is more important, the pithcer has more control over the ERA than scoring runs for his team.
Derrick (Woolwine,Va)
clemens would have just as many wins if he had run support like carpenter does
The Pulse (1:07 PM)
Wow, so it seems like Clemens would have a lot of Cy Young support here.
Jamie (Spokane, WA)
That is ridiculous Frank. If someone has a 1.50 ERA and has made 30+ starts that person should not be penalized becuase their team can't score runs for him. The Rocket should win the Cy becuase he is the BEST pitcher in MLB this year.
Shawn (Vermilion, OH)
ERA should matter more because if the other team can't score, they can't win. We tend to look at wins more however
Kevin (Ellenboro, NC)
Carpenter should take it...
Kyle Rosholt WI
IF Clemens had some run support he would aready have the cy young
Cody (Houston, TX)
Clemens has had an outstanding season, but his team is not the top team, Carpenter is the top pitcher on the top team in the league. Carpenter definitely deserves it.
The Pulse (1:09 PM)
We're about to see what the 'Nation thinks with the poll on air.
The Pulse (1:10 PM)
And Carpenter has the slight lead in the poll, but Tim says Clemens right now.
Josh (New York)
Carpenter is going to win that race, he's going to be huge down the stretch
The Pulse (1:12 PM)
Hey, just to let you know, Michael Phelps is up next. Everyone remember his Olympic brilliance?!
Frank (Orlando)
What I was saying that ERA was important in the case of Clemens what is going to happen it's going to come down to wins in thsi case Carpenter is going to win thats what it comes down to if your team isnt winning it will effect who will vote for you
The Pulse (1:13 PM)
Frank gets the final word on the Cy Young debate.
Andy (Wisconsin)
Why is he on here it coming to the end of swimming season
Paul (Bowie,Md)
Today is Maryland on 50in50 correct.
The Pulse (1:14 PM)
Paul is the man with the answer. Michael Phelps is a Maryland native and proud of it.
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
phelps is barry bonds
The Pulse (1:14 PM)
I'm going to assume you mean in terms of dominance ...
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Was he brilliant or a dissapointment because every medal he won wasn't was not Gold.
The Pulse (1:15 PM)
Tough judge, Calvin! He took home a fair bit of gold.
The Pulse (1:16 PM)
What do you guys think? Which sport gets less love than it deserves in non-Olympic years? Swimming? Track?
Steve (Dallas)
Dude, Phelps, great performance at the Olympics!
Jeff (Frederick)
i think the guy lived up to the hype!
Aaron (Rossville, KS)
athletes are brilliant for winning 1 gold medal
Pat (Brooklyn)
Track. When was the last time we talked about track without using the words Marion Jones and Steroids?
Steve (Saugus)
Track who? I don't even hear about it unless its a summer olympic year
scott (arlington, va)
i saw the olimpics just to see phelps
Michael (Evansville,IN)
Michael Phelps will be winning gold for a long long time
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Volleyball
Frank (Orlando)
Swimming does you hear from time to time during non olympic years about track meets you dont hear about swimming until the trials
Dari Nowkhah (1:20 PM)
Hey SportsNation... What's up! it's been a crazy day so far... but here we are... with you on THE PULSE!! Michael Phelps is with us! What did you guys think of his Olympic performance?
Jason (Pocatello, ID)
anyone who can win an olympic gold medal is brilliant and awesome... when you win 8, WOW!!!
Chris (Indianapolis)
Track definitely gets overlooked in the Olympics. Swimming, for whatever reason, is just more exciting to watch.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
Track, making your body work 7 days a week just running sprints and running around a track has to be agonizing
Steve (Dallas)
Rugby should be in the Olympics.
Steve (Saugus MA)
Just plain awesome..8 medals!!! I loved watching it
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
I think womens softball gets less love love than it deserves, especially since its been eliminated now, Look at athletes like Lisa Fernandez and Jennie Finch, they are just as deserving to play in an Olympic sport as any athlete.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
i dream about just winning 1 medal much less 8
The Pulse (1:22 PM)
Ron gets top honors as chatter of the day for that comment.
Jeff (Frederick)
Phelps you represented your country amazingly great
Jason (Pocatello, ID)
Even with all the stuff that has been thrown out on Phelps, WE (the US people) know that it was honest and well done. Thanks Mike!!!
Ryan (georgia)
Michael Phelps is no Mark Spitz
andrew (apg)
you were the best and you did your best thats all i want
Pat (Brooklyn)
I think Phelps will win more gold in 2008 than he did in 2004
Steve (Saugus MA)
Michael made the olympics fun to watch. To be able to win that many medals, espically 6 gold, is just incredible
Tim (Philadelphia)
michaels the man
Tim (Philadelphia Pa)
8 medals is amazing
Joe Paeno (Manassas VA)
Michael Phelps is going to be even better in 2008
Ross (Stuart, VA)
depends on how much harder he trains
The Pulse (1:27 PM)
Hey, we're talking NFL football next. Taking your analysis of last night's preseason action.
The Pulse (1:28 PM)
10 games last night, lot of action. Anyone impress you? T.O. had a nice night ...
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Ever medal he won was suppose to be gold, it wasn't. Not his fault, but his performance was dissapointing based on the hype.
Andy (Wisconsin)
how do you E-mail
The Pulse (1:28 PM)
You just did, Andy.
Brendan (Rockville, Md)
Hey Patrick Ramsey actually looked like an NFL quarterback last night
Chase (East Meadow, NY)
Although Carson Palmer hasnt played that well in the preseason, I think hes ready for a breakout season this year.
Chase (East Meadow, NY)
I loved the way Michael Strahan played yesterday and with him healthy the Giants are a legitimate playoff team.
Chris (Indianapolis)
Very happy with Paul Edinger's performance for the Vikings, maybe he isn't washed up quite yet. Vikings over the Eagles this year!
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Big Ben struggled again. I predict a big sophmore slump.
The Pulse (1:30 PM)
Steelers sure haven't looked good on offense this preseason.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
McNabb impressed me a lot last night. everyone is talking about TO, but McNabb showed just how much of a leader he really is. 3 TD's in 2 quarters. thats pretty good!!
Ross (Stuart, VA)
preseason game do not really matter, but i was very suprised on how all the eagles receivers did, and how consistent donovan mcnabb was
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
If you want to talk impressive, look at the AZ Cards! I think the so-called "experts" may have hit upon something when they picked them to win the West!
Jeff (Frederick)
49ers are going to surprise some people this year mark my words, Tim Rattay next Drew Brees
The Pulse (1:32 PM)
Wow, Rattay played pretty well last night, but that's bold.
Frank (Orlando)
Chad Hutchinson proved to be the Quaterback everyone said he was in Dallas
james (MN)
With Brett Favre nearing the end of his career (interceptions galore), Detroit's defense, and Chicago's QB situation, there's no stopping Culpepper and his Vikings.
kevin ada, OK.
Steelers need to play Willie Parker a lot more to kickstart their offense.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
Drew Brees had Lomlinson in the backfield. Rattay doesn't have anybody!!
The Pulse (1:34 PM)
Barlow isn't awful, but you've got point. He's also not throwing to Antonio Gates in San Francisco.
Jeff (Frederick)
well after a 2-14 season all you can think is bold and I like where Nolan is taking us I see us being pretty good in a year or 2
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
To defend Jeff, I think he is talking about a QB that was close to losing his job, but plays well enough to keep it. I thnk Rattay could do that. It was not his fault the 49ers were terrible last year.
The Pulse (1:36 PM)
Fair point. And if Rattay ends up being ok, will they regret not taking Braylon Edwards?
SherronWatson(Belleville,IL)
My Eagles will win the Super Bowl. despite what happen this offseason Andy Reid is the perfect coach to handle T.O.and Donovan will lead us to Detroit.
Brendan (Rockville, Md)
Hey Frank Gore could turn out to be a steal if his knees somehow hold together, or is that crazy?
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Eric Johnson is pretty good. The 49ers major problem on offense is the line.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
most NFL franchises to not put up with 3 or 4 straight losing seasons. Nolan may not be there much longer if they dont win.
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
about a week ago on the radio bryant young said they would go 6-10
Ryan (South Carolina)
T.O. is the best WR in the NFL. You can say what you want about his actions, but this guy gives his all every single down unlike Randy Moss.
Jim (Syracuse)
yes, if rattay proves to be good enough to keep the starter, SF will regret not taking Edwards/Ronnie Brown
David Amber (1:39 PM)
Hey Guys,We are talking USC and college football... So get your comments and questions in!!!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Was it Chester Taylor that got all those rushing yards last night, or am I thinking of someone else?
The Pulse (1:40 PM)
The definition of preseason football. Taylor runs wild for Baltimore.
Jeff (Frederick)
GO PENN STATE COME ON JOE PA!!!
The Pulse (1:43 PM)
All right, talking college football ...
Ryan (South Carolina)
I think USC has a pretty good chance of winning the National Championship
The Pulse (1:43 PM)
Bold prediction, Ryan!
Pat (Brooklyn)
Matt Leinart is going to take Ballroom Dancing this year. Lets just hope he doesnt throw his dance partner 45 yards across the room.
richard (brooklyn)
matt leinart will have a great year this year but i dont want him to win the heisman trophy because the player who wins the heisman trophy struggles in the nfl except for vinny testaverde
The Pulse (1:44 PM)
Wait, Vinny didn't struggle in Tampa Bay?
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
USC has a team????????? (joke) I'm a BIG 12 fan, I see COLORADO this year....who do you see?
Dave (Port Chester, NY)
I think matt leinart will have a superb season, like he always does, things might change tho because of the offensive cord. going to the titans. reggie bush will be there to help him out where ever he cant get a WR open, just throw it on the screen and let him do what he does best, thats what hes known for. im not suprised that USC is #1 again, but OU dropping to 10, thats bad, even tho they lost their QB, WR, and end, they will make it to a bowl i think. AND I LOVE THE PULSE
Shawn (Vermilion, OH)
I think USC is the team to beat for sure. But there could be a contender out of the Big 10 that can beat them-either Ohio St or Iowa
Paul (Bowie,Md)
I can't get into college football because of the BCS system.
The Pulse (1:45 PM)
Not sold on the Harris Poll? Few people seem to be ...
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
I think that USC has a good offense, but that their Defense won't performe nearly as good as it did last year. USC will be in a bowl game, but not in a national title game. write it down.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Hey Dari, maybe USC should be #1, but Louisville should have been in the top 10 preseason poll. You guys goofed up on that one.
Mike (Baltimore)
Is that Matt Leinart of Bob from the Bachelor?
The Pulse (1:46 PM)
There is an eerie resemblance ...
Shawn (Vermilion, OH)
I think the Harris Poll is a joke. Why can't the BCS figure out the system doesn't work!!
The Pulse (1:47 PM)
Anyone want to stick up for the rest of the Pac-10, or is it too early for you folks out there on the left coast?
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
I think that Reggie Bush is the main man for USC. didn't you all see how much Reggie Bush got the ball last year. Bush takes Leinhart from an average QB to a great one. Bush should win the Heisman this year.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
Any quarterback would be as good as Matt Lienart if they had a offensive line and wide receivers like he does.
Omar (Lanc, PA)
Do you think Matt Leinart is going to be the best college quarterback this year?
The Pulse (1:48 PM)
There do seem to be a ton of challengers this year. Omar Jacobs, Vince Young, Reggie McNeal, etc.
Shawn (Vermilion, OH)
i think the Pac 10 is at least 2 steps behind USC. Pete Carrol has done a good job with recruiting
Evan (Warwick, RI)
With Leinart at USC there a shoe in for the National Championship
James (MN)
Leak, Tate and Young can steal the Heisman from Leinart.
Ross (Stuart, VA)
Pac-10 is the worst Bcs conference besides the Big East
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
I'm with you on the BCS Paul! But, I still love my NCAA Football! About the BCS...remember when there was no BCS? And whatever happened to the old saying, "if it ain't broke...."?
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Omar Jacobs is better than all of them... His Accuracy is amazing not to mention his speed he could take off anytime if he wanted.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
The PAC 10 will have 4 teams in the top 25: USC, California, Arizona State, and UCLA or Oregon. Mabye only USC in the top 10.
Shawn (Vermilion, OH)
He could be, but there are other good ones out there such as Vince Young, and even Brian Brohm of Louisville, and omar Jacobs at Bowling Green
Brad (CMU (Mich))
Who cares about the Heisman, it never goes to the best player in the nation just the best player on offense. Charles Woodson only defensive player to do it and Orlando Pace didnt allow a sack all through his college career and gets no love. It's a pointless award.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
I said it last week!! The pac-10 is one of the most underrated conferences in the nation. Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, .... come on. That's not a pushover conference. Oregon State could end up in a bowl game this year too!!!
David Amber (1:51 PM)
Guys,Can the Trojans run the table? Who is the biggest challenger for USC this year?
Derrick (Woolwine,Va)
Theres a guy at Blacksburg to who is a pretty good quarterback too...
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
Oregon and Arizona State are the challengers. USC plays both of them on the road
The Pulse (1:52 PM)
How about Marshawn Lynch and Cal?
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
...as much as it pains me to say this...USC WILL run the table this year...
Brad (CMU (Mich))
Themselves...No one can match talent and coaching with them
Jeff (Frederick)
biggest challenger is again CAL Jeff Tedford knows how to play USC
mike, oakland,ca
Marshawn lynch is the best back in the pac-10...hands down!!!! reggie who???
Ken (Richmond, VA)
I don't think that there is anyone that can challenge USC. I mean after seeing the beatdown they put on OU I'm not sure anyone can beat them as long as they have Matt, Reggie and company.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Marshawn Lynch got all the garbage time carries... we'll see how he does against first team defenses
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
but Mike Bellotti has had great success at Oregon. Don't forget about them
Derrick (Woolwine,Va)
USC will run the table in the Pac-10 until they get to the National Championship game
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
I think it will take aQB will experience to beat USC and Cal does not have one.
The Pulse (1:56 PM)
All right, we'll be talking college football again later (including all those schools east of the Pac-10), but now we're going to Fantasy Football!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Forget Eric Wedge get Travis Hafner. He will win an MVP some season.
The Pulse (1:58 PM)
Well, we'd love to get both. Sorry about that, we had hoped to get the Indians skipper on here, but there were some technical issues.
The Pulse (1:59 PM)
We're going to get to Fantasy Football in a second, but what do you guys think of the NL wild-card race while we're waiting?
Abel (houston)
i think the astros got this
Jeff (Frederick, MD)
Astros!!!!!!!!!
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
somehow, im not quite sure how, but My Nationals are hanging in there... its amazing
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Phillies won't be the wildcard winner because they will win the division.
The Pulse (2:00 PM)
Wow, predicting doom for the Braves?
jules (nj)
i think the wild card race is more exciting than the actual playtoffs now.
Harrison (New York)
The Florida Marlins not only have 4 quality pitchers, they have a very good offense with juan pierre leading off and carlos delgado driving in runs, better offense than the astros
Jeff (Frederick, MD)
NEVER EVER count a team with Roger Clemens out!!
Ron (Sikeston, MO
When did this go from FF to FB?
The Pulse (2:01 PM)
We've got loads of football coming up on the next two hours, don't worry. Just taking a little baseball breather.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
This is one of them most interesting Wild card races in a while. I'm actually watching the baseball games on TV and it's not even the playoffs yet!!
Casey (San Diego, CA)
Ryan Howard is showing he is a stud in the league. They have great young talent with him and Utley for years to come.
Jason, Detroit
I like the Astros and marlins post season experience. The Phills have the lead and they are middle of the pack in hitting and pitching but guess what there defense is the best
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Marlins will take it with a great September. Their pitching is just as good as Houston's and their offense is better.
Pat (Brooklyn)
I think the Nationals will make an impact again to win the WC
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Jeff Franceour is ridiculous... theres no way he and the other young braves are gonna fail down the stretch... they'll fail in the playoffs... but hey when do they not?
The Pulse (2:03 PM)
Hey, we go the extra mile for you ... Eric Wedge will be here next!
Dan (OH)
Indians have a good shot of getting in the wildcard and possible far in the lpay offs.
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
O.K., then baseball, noone will beat my St. Louis Cardinals, but what are these rumors I am hearing of them making a deal for Mike Lowell and an outfielder?
The Pulse (2:04 PM)
I think the Marlins are willing to give him away right now ...
The Pulse (2:04 PM)
What do you think of Wedge's Indians?
Ross (Stuart, VA)
same teams as always going to be in the playoffs it just how it works. Yankees always seem to come back which is not cool
Dan Ohio
Indians will win wild card and ruin NYY season.
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
Indians are doing good but this isn't Major League the Movie
Ross (Stuart, VA)
Cleveland still has a baseball team? (joke)
jules (nj)
mr. wedge i feel that drug testing in baseball will help a squad like yours. You have young fast athletes. If there is strict testing I feel a team like yours should win a world series within 2 years.
The Pulse (2:06 PM)
They are on the up-and-coming teams ... maybe topping the list.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
I think Cleveland will win the wild card. They have the best balance of pitching and offense between them, Oakland and the Yanks. The Yanks have the O but inconsistent pitching and Oakland has great pitching but inconsistent O.
Harrison (New York)
i feel that the indians will win the AL WILD CARD because the yankees will win the AL EAST and the red sox pitching and bullpen will fail
Rick (CTOWN)
Tribe pitching is underrated They'll win the Wildcard
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
The yanks can't be beat right now. THe Indians will still win the wild card in the AL, but they will beat the Red Sox to do it!!! Write it down!!
The Pulse (2:07 PM)
Can Travis Hafner carry them at the plate?
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
Is that the team with Willie "Mays" Hayes, Jake Taylor, and Sorrano?...oh yeah...I LOVE the Indians and what an incredible documentary!
Dan (Ohio
Wedge's Indians have the offense and pitching to win the wild card atleast.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
How can you go against a guy name PRONK?
Jeff (Frederick, MD)
Sabathia has really come on for them that guy is a work horse
Harrison (New York)
Travis hafner, grady sizemore, victor martinez, etc. are all playing extremely well, there is no doubt that this offense can win
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Don't count out the Tigers. They've only won 8 of their last 12.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
if the indians get one other bat hot i think hafner could probably carry them... they just need grady sizemore or victor martinez to get really hot
Todd (Salt lake city)
can their bullpen shut the door though, thats the question!
The Pulse (2:10 PM)
Good point, do you trust Bob Wickman?
Dan (Ohio )
Sabathia will make it happen this year for the indians atleast win AL wild card.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
The Cleveland Indians are so underrated right now... yeah, there young, but look how they have come together throughout the season. I've only seen them get better as the season has gone on!!
Chad (Winter Haven, FL)
Look I've been an Indians fan since I was 2 and I live 2 minutes from their spring training complex and I've said all year they would win wildcard but I thought it would be Hafner and Martinez not Lee and Millwood and Wickman
jules (nj)
i don't trust wickman near a buffet
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
How can a guy with a losing record be a game 1 starter in any playoff?
The Pulse (2:11 PM)
Don't like Wedge's call of Kevin Millwood for a playoff start?
Kyle ((Cumberland, RI))
I would trust Bob Wickman more than any closer the Red Sox have right now, thats for sure!
Joe (Evansville, IN)
You can trust Wickman more than you can trust most closers in the league. 33 of 38 isn't that bad.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
if you dont trust wickman just watch Sidney Ponson or Bartolo Colon near one
The Pulse (2:12 PM)
Ok, Fantasy Football is up next. You folks all play?
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Wickman is healthy again. You can trust him. He is not Jose Mesa. C.C. should be the game one starter if the Indians have one.
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Millwood was awesome in Atlanta. I wish we never had to trade him.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
Kevin Millwood has been there before and he would be a great starter!
The Pulse (2:13 PM)
And that's the last word on the Indians!
The Pulse (2:13 PM)
Back to Fantasy Football
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
I love Fantasy Football!!! I'm going to be drafting my 9th Fantasy team in about 3 hours!!
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
who doesnt play fantasy football these days?
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
ABSOLUTELY!
Pat (Brooklyn)
FF confuses me
dan (Ohio
yeah i play fantasy... who do you think the best RB is?
The Pulse (2:14 PM)
Got to be L.T., right ?
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
Fantasy Football ....yyyeeesss!!!!!!!!
Joe (Evansville, IN)
I've said it once and I will say it again: Joey Harrington, Slepper of the Year.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
LT hands down, best fantasy football player... well other than Peyton Manning having a record breaking season
Casey (San Diego, CA)
Fantasy football team conflciting with your real team is a problem sometimes. LT is the clear #1 pick, but people still go with Manning. Its a crime!
The Pulse (2:16 PM)
Make sure you sound off on these picks as they come in ...
Dan (ohio)
L.T thats who i have he has to be with his size and speed and moves.
Todd (Salt lake city)
LT or Priest... priest, if he stays healthy, is the best fantasy back..
Ron (Sikeston, MO)
No doubt L.T.!!!! But watch out for the rookies this year...remember L.T.'s rookie year..already a phenom!
Chris (Bridgewater, NJ)
No Question That LT Is The No. 1 Pick.
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
Shaun Alexander goes No. 2 ...
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
One thing that i would like to give to all of you is the fact that Taking RB's #1 is ridiculous!! The QB will put up twice, if not triple the amount of points in a seaon that a RB will. And on top of that, RB's are deeper and you can get them later. Only 3-5 top Qb's. RB's are totally overrated!!
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
You're going against the grain there, Jason.
jules (nj)
alexander is not a young pup anymore
Ben (Pittsburgh)
You guys are out of your minds. Your forgetting about Priest Holmes. He averages 6 more fantasy points a game than LT. If he plays, hes far and away the best.
Jim (Syracuse)
Shaun Alexander is so overrated, he should not go in the top 5
The Pulse (2:18 PM)
Priest Holmes goes No. 3
Jason (Bronx, NY)
Peyton Manning should definietly be the number two pick
Joe (Evansville, IN)
The real crime is that I work for an ESPN Radio affiliate, and we don't get ESPNews at the station.
The Pulse (2:18 PM)
That's just wrong, Joe.
Pat (Brooklyn)
Is anyone going to draft Matrin? I mean he did lead in rushing yards last year.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
Look it up Pulse!! The person on your team that will put up the most points will be the QB!!
The Pulse (2:19 PM)
Not in the ESPN scoring system, Jason.
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
Manning would be the next logical pick. If he has numbers similar, not better, then last year, he can carry a team
Jay (NY)
Oh let me....the issue with RB vs QB is that there is a huge dropoff after you take the top RBs....QB will get more points but they all put up points, the difference isn't that great. Obviously excluding Manning and maybe Dante. RBs have to go first because they put up consistent TDs and there are less ones that have the capability to put up big numbers.
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Holmes is too injury prone. What about Corey Dillon?
Ross (Stuart, VA)
Kevin Jones of the Detroit Lions going to get bigger number then all these running backs they are taking.
The Pulse (2:20 PM)
Deuce McAllister goes off the board. Bad pick?
Jim (Syracuse)
Edgerrin James at #4?? Indy is a passing team, Edge's numbers are decreasing
Jason (philly)
Say you have McAllister is the first round..is McNabb a better second round pick then going after another running back??
The Pulse (2:20 PM)
We'll find out.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
you'll win a league with 2 good running backs.. you wont win a league with manning and good recievers and crap RB's
jules (nj)
pulse can i get her #
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
Duece went to high. Peyton is a Sleeper all of sudden
Jim (Syracuse)
CLinton Portis will put up more fantasy numbers than Edge this year
Todd (Salt lake city)
Portis will have a big year,, skins gonna run more stretch plays this year..
Jason (Bronx, NY)
Deuce goes number 5, that's crazy, I'd rather take Tiki Barber
Ken (Richmond, VA)
Deuce will be a top 5 fanstasy back this season as the Saints are going to become a more run orriented team.
The Pulse (2:22 PM)
Willis McGahee goes No. 7
Ben (Pittsburgh)
Deuce was a horrible pick. He completely killed my team last year. hes not top 5. I mean, the guys only had 1 year over 10TDs
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Don't forget about Curtis Martin. 1,697 yards, 12 TDs, and the lowest fumble per carry ration among starting running backs last year.
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
No way. Barber had a good season last year, but he isn't consistent
Shawn (Vegas(Sioux Falls))
I have the number 20 and 21 picks in my league...I know LT is my #1 pick...but who does the Nation think I should take at 20 and 21?
The Pulse (2:23 PM)
Anyone want to help Shawn out? Just make sure to start your post with "Shawn"
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Im Not sold on mcgahee... i always avoid him
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
Willis will surprise alot of people.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
McGhee is overrated!! He did good when he had aQB, but D's are just going to put 8-9 guys in the box, and he won't do it as well this year!!
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
He will definitely be a good pick. He showed last year he can produce. This year he will have a full season starting
Ron Sauce (Estherville)
Shawn, id say Julius Jones and prolyl a QB
Ben (Pittsburgh)
McGahee was a quality pick. He didnt even play a full season and still got 13TDs and over 1000 yds
Jim (Syracuse)
Rb's at those positions, Shawn(Vegas, Lamont Jordan or M Bennett, JJ arrington
Dan (ohio)
Willis is over rated.. Ever since he got hurt against ohio state he hasnt been that good.
Ryan (Cape Cod)
You always pick two RBs first. You can get a brady/Favre in the 5th round.
The Pulse (2:25 PM)
There you go, there's the first round.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
Tiki Barber finished 5th in rushing yards, and finished 2nd in recieving yards. Barber is underrated!!
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
Shawn pick the best available WR and then Pick the best available QB
Pat (Brooklyn)
Shawn, i would say Drew Brees and Corey Dillon
Kyle ((Cumberland, RI))
Bledsoe wasn't really a good QB in Buffalo. J.P. Lossman is going to be much better, both for McGahee and the rest of the offense!
Todd (Salt lake city)
they stacked the line against McGahee last year!? no defense was that scared of bledsoe
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
McGahee will run for 2000 yards this year.
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Shawn, Brain Westbrook or a good TE (Gonzo or Gates) may be a good pick. After those two the market really drops out on TEs.
Ben (Pittsburgh)
Lasman will be good down the road, but not now. However, that wont hurt McGahee because they'll have to run more
Ken (Richmond, VA)
According to ESPN's live draft tracker it says that he could get someone like Julius Jones or Torry Holt. I'd go with the best RB available and best WR available at 20 and 21.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
Give us your take on McGhee, Pulse. What do you think he will do this year???
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Why weren't David and Dari in the fantasy draft. I like to have seen what their picks would have been.
The Pulse (2:28 PM)
I think he's got to prove his durability. In the first round, I want someone I can count on to last all 16 games. But if he's healthy, he'll be huge.
David Amber (2:28 PM)
Hey Calvin,They wouldn't let us in.... They were scared we would win
The Pulse (2:28 PM)
Hey, we're talking best college football storylines soon. What do you guys think? What is the best story and why?
The Pulse (2:29 PM)
USC going for three? Marcus Vick at Va. Tech? Charlie Weis and ND?
Shawn (BGSU, OH)
Best story: Can Texas finally overcome Oklahoma?
Paul (Boston)
the conferences with new schools is a great storyline
Jason (Bronx, NY)
super bowl champ charlie weis coaching the fighting irish is definitely the best story, other than USC going for three
Ben (Pittsburgh)
Charlie Weiss is going to be destroyed in the first game by a talented Pitt offense. I think Palko will repeat his 5 TD peformance against ND.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Louisville will be the best story because they will play for the national title and they get no respect.
Michael (Sikeston, Mo.)
The best story right now might be....Can Alex Smith go back to playing College Football to brush up on some more of his QB skills.
Ben (Pittsburgh)
Will there be another BCS mess is the story
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
What about the story line of the opener... Pitt and ND!! Two NFL coaches meeting in the opener?!?! AWESOME!!
Ross (Stuart, VA)
M. Vick at Tech because they came off a great season last year and only basically lost there quarterback so i think M. Vick has got to show that he be a quarterback just as good or better then bryan Randall was and see if he can also lead them to the ACC championship and BCS bowl birth
Dan (Ohio)
I hope Charlie Weis makes an impact @ ND
Michael (Sikeston, Mo.)
The BCS is a piece of ... and needs to be eliminated to go to a playoff format. It would seem like the Colleges would push this due to if their team makes it, it will generate more revenue for that school.
brian (santa monica, ca)
I hope TY makes an impact at WA
Todd (Salt lake city)
I hope super freshman D Williams and J King make an impact at Penn State!
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
It will be USC vs. Va Tech in the Championship game!! USC will run the table, and lose to Va Tech and Vick in the Big Bowl!! Write it down all!!
andrew (apg)
i hope spurrier makes an impact at south carolina
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
i wish nothing but the worst upon derrick williams... hes a traitor... The Fridge offered him a scholarship as a junior and he gave em the old F.U. and went to regional recruiting rival Penn State... I hope joe pa continues his freshman dont play policy
Rick (South Carolina)
Marcus Vick will be overrated just like his brother. Great athletes but overrated qbs.
Ron Sauce (Estherville)
which team do most of you guys think will make the biggest leap in the college rankings?
The Pulse (2:39 PM)
Good question. USC is the favorite, but who are the real sleepers?
Joe (Evansville, IN)
I usually don't watch nationally televised HS athletics, but this game on ESPN isn't half bad. But all in all, I'd rather be watching the Pulse.
Jason (Pocatello, ID.)
I agree with Michael from MO!!! The BCS system sucks. Auburn vs. USC and Oklahoma vs. Alex Smith and UTah... winners play for Best Team in the Nation. Do you know how many people would have been watching all of that?!?!?!?
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
No playoff. Don't take the fun out of college football. No playoff.
Ron Sauce (Estherville)
i think ISU could be one...
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Louisville, Pittsburgh, Boise State/Fresno State, Bowling Green and Texas AandM
Kevin (Bellevue, WA)
One of the best stories is Steve Spurier returning, but South Carolina should still be considered a "sleeper."
Jim (Syracuse)
Syracuse could go 9-2 or so and win the Big EAst and go to a BCS game , but i like Michigan vs USC in the N CHampionship game
The Pulse (2:43 PM)
And, of course, we've got LeBron James coming up soon from the NASCAR race at Bristol.
The Pulse (2:43 PM)
What do you guys think of the Cavs this year?
Drew (Madison)
I dont know, they have a decent division
Dan (Ohio)
Lebron will make a n impact like always but the Cavs still have a lot of work to do.
Paul (Boston)
The Cavs have defiently improved themselves this offseason but still wont be able to get past the Miami's and Detroit's of the East
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
6th-8th seed for the cavs
Ray (Dallas, TX)
Cavs'll make the playoffs, whether its an 7th or 8th seed, because every year LeBron gets better and I feel he will be in contention for MVP this year
Kevin (Bellevue, WA)
Cavs will be very competitive in the Eastern Conference, but still not in the elite 3, with Detriot, Miami, and Indiana.
Jim (Syracuse)
Cavs should make the playoffs again but wont get past second round, if they make it that far
Ross (Stuart, VA)
I think Lebron will move the ball around to his teammates and he will average a triple double this year and i dont even like the Cavaliers
The Pulse (2:48 PM)
But is Larry Hughes the answer as a running mate?
Frank (Orlando)
They will be in the playoffs this year with the addition of Larry Hughes
Jim (Syracuse)
Larry Hughes is not the answer in cleveland
Michael (Sikeston, Mo.)
The NBA is nothing more than a bunch of OVERPAID WHINERS, that if they dont get their way they go in front of a TV camera and bash everyone but themselves and do it talking in the 3rd person sense.
Steve (aggieland, tx)
Im hoping all of Z's limbs hold together for another couple of years
The CavsJoey (Citra, Florida)
The Cavs should be great, look for LeBron to win the MVP award.
Dan (Ohio)
no they need more than larry hughes.
Todd (Salt lake city)
Not at point guard he isnt!
Steve (aggieland, tx)
larry will definitely help on the break and on D, but how good is he from outside? i thought our FA concern was from downtown
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
larry hughes is LeBron without the shooting but with better defense... not enough touches for the two of them... plus Z ... not gonna work as they hope
Jim (Syracuse)
Cleveland Needs a Superstar to play besides to humble him a little and help him with his all around game
andrew (apg)
forget mvp lebron is president
Jim (Syracuse)
Cleveland should bring Mark Price or Steve Kerr out of retirement to be a role player for LEbron, haha
The Pulse (2:52 PM)
LeBron is almost ready to go here, he's down in Bristol for the NASCAR race.
Dan (Ohio)
Cavs need another "mellow" or big ben or sheed to get far in the playoffs.
brian (santa monica, ca)
defense would be nice for the cavs. aaron mckee would have been nice
Kevin (Bellevue, WA)
The guy the Cavs were really after in the offseason was Michael Redd, and when that didn't work, they had to settle for Larry Hughs, who is a good player, but no the pure shooter they needed.
Steve (aggieland, tx)
is this the first and last nascar race we can expect to see lebron james at?
The Pulse (2:54 PM)
Well, it's his first, but you never know. He might catch the bug.
Joey P. (Falls Church, VA)
LeBron will the addition of Larry Hughes from Washington help the Cavs backcourt and will he help you also next season?
Todd (Salt Lake City)
Cleveland needed to keep McGinnis at Point.. Get a shot blocking Center.. and Pf that can post up on the block... Lebron can do the rest! they do that, they can win the east
Ray (Dallas, TX)
The best mate for LeBron was definitely Michael Redd, but unfortuneately they couldn't get him
The Pulse (2:55 PM)
Better teammate for LeBron: Larry Hughes or Bobby Labonte?!
andrew (apg)
lebron who'll be the driver of your car
The Pulse (2:55 PM)
Mr. Labonte will have the honors ...
Steve (aggieland, tx)
labonte, the only man who could beat james on the break away
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Too bad Tony Stewart is not driving the car.
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
With Labonte as his teammate he can never be late for practice
Shane Wabash Indiana
Lebron, stick to what you are good at! Don't end up like Jordan and striking out!
Ray (Dallas, TX)
Too bad Bobby Labonte isn't in the chase for the nextel cup
The Pulse (2:58 PM)
Yeah, I don't think we'll see LeBron behind the wheel, Shane.
Steve (aggieland, tx)
first time ive heard that advice: "dont end up like jordan"
Jim (Syracuse)
he isnt Racing, hes just owning, calm down SHane
The Pulse (3:00 PM)
Will LeBron be as good as MJ, when all is said and done?
Stephan (Richmondville Ny)
LeBron will win an MVP someday
Drew Clark (Purdue)
He'll be able to own anything he wants in a year or two. How about the Lebron Nascar Cup? Nextel is dropping out next year.
Dan W (Ohio
No. MJ was too clutch in the end and all his awards and championships.
brian (santa monica, ca)
he is majic with atletic ability
Drew Clark (Purdue)
In the end he'll be a better overall player.
Jim (Syracuse)
No he wont be as good as MJ, he wont win nearly as many championships, if any
David (North Dakota)
LeBron will go down as one of the 20 best players in NBA history, but MJ is in his own league and no one will ever enter it.
Ray (Dallas, TX)
Not a chance, Jordan won 6 straight championships when he played; however, i feel that LeBron will end up being the all time scoring champ
Kevin (Bellevue, WA)
LeBron will not be as good as MJ, statistically they will be close, but LeBron will not win 6 championships like MJ.
Dan W (Ohio
Drew Clark- No MJ was too clutch.. when he can leed the Cavs to 6 champs then he will be better than MJ
ben (Saginaw, MI)
Everyone wants to be Jordan, but no one wants to end up like him, it would be a terrible mistake to retire a first time when hes still great
The Pulse (3:04 PM)
Great stuff from LeBron, Pulse-ers
Todd (salt lake city)
Lebron needs too much.. cleveland has no idea what they are doing... and because of that Lebron wont be in the same stratosphere as his "airness".
The Pulse (3:05 PM)
All right, we've got just less than an hour left in the show. Still plenty of good stuff, including college football and NFL!
Jim (Syracuse)
Great Interview Pulse, that was enjoyable
The Pulse (3:06 PM)
LeBron was great, tough to go wrong with him.
brian (santa monica, ca)
his jacket was terrible
The Pulse (3:06 PM)
Ouch
The Pulse (3:06 PM)
We're going to roll through a recap of the rest of the ESPNEWS Fan Fantasy Football Draft next ...
The Pulse (3:07 PM)
Who are your fantasy sleepers?
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
I hope Benson doesn't sign. I have T. Jones in one of my pay leagues
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Harrington, Orton, Tampa Bay's D
Jim (Syracuse)
my fantasy sleepers are JJ arrington and Laverneus Coles
Ben( Saginaw,MI)
My fantasy sleeper is either Jerry Porter or Laverneus Coles
David (North Dakota)
QB-Carson Palmer, RB-J.J. Arrington, WR-Nate Burleson, TE-Ben Watson, D/ST-St. Louis, K-Mike Nugent
Ben (Saginaw,MI)
I think harrington is a good choice
Brent (Lagrange,Ky.)
I believe Dominick Davis will have a good year.
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
Matt Jones and Ricky Williams are my sleepers
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Fantasy Sleeper is Drew Bennett
Jim (Syracuse)
Who will be the Main Guy in Cleveland, Droughns, Suggs or William Green, their backfield is so loaded i am afraid to draft any of them
Ray (Dallas, TX)
My Sleepers are Greg Lewis with Phillie and Santana Moss with Washington
Brandon (Cedar Falls, IA)
I think Julius Jones of the Cowboys will be a big sleeper. With a full year to run he should put up some impressive stats on an offense that needs help.
The Pulse (3:13 PM)
Sound off on the strengths and weaknesses of these teams. Where'd they go wrong?
Shane Wabash Indiana
my fantasy sleeper is air McNair! he is back and still tuff as nails. Go titans!
Ben (Saginaw,MI)
Dominick Davis always has a good year and hes still young thats not a sleeper
Justin (Detroit)
Harrington, Arrington, Orton, Charlie Frye and Vincent Jackson
lenny (lake elsinore, ca)
ricky williams is sleeping
Siggy (Ft. Worth)
The guy with the first pick has a great Fantasy Team
Todd (salt lake city)
Washington will go as far as Ramsey Takes them.. they have everything needed for a championsip team - Defense, special teams and run game.. Ramsey needs NOT to lose games and the skins can go far
The Pulse (3:16 PM)
Don't forget, we're also talking college football with Joe Schad next. He'll be taking your questions, and we're always looking for your analysis.
Jim (Syracuse)
Mark went wrong with going with Javon Walker in the third round when so many other elite Wr's were still available, and Edge a little too high
kevin (ada, OK.)
With teams stacking the line on OU, to stop Adrian Peterson, Paul Thomson will have it easy passing.
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
i think SU will have a good year
Dan Ohio
Pulse - How do you think Ohio State Football will do with Ginn, Hawk and everyone else?
The Pulse (3:19 PM)
I think they're right up there in the title hunt, but that early game against Texas is going to cause big problems for the loser. No margin of error.
David Georgia
Everyone is saying Leak may not be able to run Urban Meyer's system this year becuase of him having to run the option. What people don't know is that the offense will be molded around Leak to pass the ball more. One more thing the defense will be special with the front seven.
Todd (salt lake city)
they Lose at Penn state! but Ginn is a monster on the field
lenny (lake elsinore, ca)
Ginn should play more offense
Brian (Cleveland)
Can Ohio state and Ted Ginn Jr. beat Texas?
The Pulse (3:20 PM)
What do all of you think? Who wins that game and why?
URBAN MEYER (URBAN COUNTRY)
TEXAS OSU IS OVERRATED
Derrick (Woolwine,Va)
Texas, Ohio State won't stop Vince Young.
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
texas they can run the ball well
Todd (salt lake city)
Texas gets blown out! Hawk shadows V Young all over the place and Ginn Runs wild
Brandon (Cedar Falls, IA)
The Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big 10 are not getting enough credit. They have a stud QB and even though their D Line is young they have great linebackers and D backs. With Ferentz holding the clipboard they will go to a January Bowl game yet again. If everything falls together at Kinnick. Maybe we'll see a national title game in the near future.
Justin (Detroit)
Texas is a better team because of their front seven. The Big 10 is too slow on D
Gus (Michigan)
They can't beat Texas because it will be Troy Smith first game of the season after his suspension and it will be like throwing him into a fire against Texas.
Dan Ohio
How is ohio state over rated... They got one of the best Defesnes and players like holmes, salley, HAWK and GINN?
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Texas will win because of experience at the QB position.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Ohio State wont stop vince young... maybe you dont know who Bobby Carpenter and AJ Hawk are.... they'll introduce themselves pretty quickly to Vince Young
The Source
Ohio state will win because "the Ginn" is overrated.
Ben(Saginaw,MI)
Texas wins and ends up in the title game but falls short of might USC
Todd (salt lake city)
Make V Young beat you with his arm, and Texas is horrible on offense!
Dan Ohio
Justin- How Ohio State has one of the best D's in the country look who they have, HAWK, salley, and every one else
The Pulse (3:25 PM)
The vaunted "everyone else"
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
I have never seen so much hype for a player that caught25 passes from the year before(Ted Ginn Jr.)
The Pulse (3:25 PM)
Ok, moving on from OSU-Tex. Whatya got?
Shane Wabash Indiana
I think that Notre Dame will be good this year under the direction of Charlie wies. Brady Quinn is a year older, and I see good things to come for Darius Walker in the back field. What do you guys think?
Justin (Detroit)
Miami's offense will be better when Wright learns the offense. He should have started last year. What a cannon!
Chris Detroit, Michigan
michigan is the best college football team period going to the Rose Bowl.
J.J. Fischman (Alaska)
The Men of Troy are a lock for the title!
Brad (Walnut Creek)
where can I find the final fantasy football team line ups that they drafted?
Dari Nowkhah (3:27 PM)
B-O-O-M-E-R
The Pulse (3:28 PM)
You can check out the rest of the draft on ESPN 360 and ESPN Motion on ESPN.com, right after we wrap up at 4 p.m.
lenny (lake elsinore, ca)
ND and Penn State are done for good. they glory days are over
Joe (Evansville, IN)
Illinios should have more than the usual two wins this year under Ron Zook.
The Source, Cincinnati Ohio
Michigan will be beat (badly) if they make it to the Rose Bowl.
Todd (salt lake city)
Lenny you have been spending to much time in the sun.. Penn State is on the rise again - write that down
George (Burlingame)
'95 Nebraska over '01 Miami?! Schad's been hanging out too much with Ricky Williams and Randy Moss. Miami would've stuffed Nebraska's option like they did to Crouch's crew.
Ben(Saginaw,MI)
the most underrated player in college football is Drew Stanton, his only problem is his injuries
Gus (Michigan)
Michigan! Chad Henne and Mike Hart were the Freshmen Sensations last year and look to Sophmore sensations. My only concern is the secondary but it looks like U-M will be okay with the great D-Line and some pretty good linebackers (Pierre Woods, Lammar Woodley). I call them 11-1 or 12-0 with possible losses att OSU or Iowa.
Chad (memphis)
Chris Michigan is the best team but Carr will ruin it as usual by not throwing downfield until down double digits. (See last years MSU game)
angelo (florham park, nj)
ainge got the start in Tenn. Any opinions?
The Pulse (3:32 PM)
Any SEC fans out there?
Dan Ohio
Nope Big ten fan here
andy(detroit)
no
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
LSU is the class of the SEC
Todd (Salt Lake city)
LSU is too talented not to do damage!
angelo (florham park, nj)
Tenn. is one team that will not suffer if their starer goes down.
Todd (Salt Lake city)
Florida can surprise, if leak can get the offense down..
Justin (Detroit)
The ACC is what we should be talking about. Miami, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Maryland, BC
Joe (Evansville, IN)
UK has some good players, they just can't seem to put it together. Oh well, at least they get one win against Vanderbilt, also known as "The Gimmie Bowl".
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Doesnt Florida have really good recievers... i can only imagine how Urban Meyer is going to use them and leak... if he could work wonders with alex smith and Steve Savoy... look out
J.J. (Alaska)
Please let me just get in this chat, if not T.V.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Florida is overrated. They will lose to Wyoming.
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
leak has all the tools to have a big year this year the WR are the key to florida
The Pulse (3:42 PM)
15 minutes to go, what sport do you want to finish on?
Teal (greencastlePA)
college football
Dan Ohio
College football still
The Pulse (3:44 PM)
All right, then, stay we shall.
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
stick with college football
Derrick (Woolwine,Va)
acc football
The Pulse (3:45 PM)
Let's hear it, closing arguments on college football. It's your chance to be heard!
Zach (Thornton,CO)
The Colorado Buffs will suprise everyone and beat miami and be ranked in the top 15 by seasons end!
Matt (Cedar Rapids, IA)
Michigan, as they are every preseason, is overrated (along with a lot of other teams). They have a tough schedule and will have to live up to the hype to get to a BCS Bowl, let alone the National Championship.
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
VT should win the ACC
Steve (Dallas)
Adrian Peterson wins the Heisman!
Tim (Boston)
USC are goingt ton Win Reggie Bush best one he is going to pound his completions in College and be a top draf tpick
Todd (Salt lake City)
Oklahoma loses 2 games - but not to texas!
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Louisville will be the first team to score at least 60 points in a game this season.
Patrick (Irvine)
UCLA will have a breakout year and surprise everyone in the Pac-10, wins over Cal, ASU, and a close call against USC. UCLA has a star in Marcedes Lewis and will hopefully one of the Olsen's at QB will come through and UCLA will finish in the Top 25!
Ben(Saginaw,MI)
The winner of the Big Ten will be Ohio St. followed by Michigan St. Michigan will be in fourth behind Iowa
Brendan (Rockville, MD)
Maryland will be a top 25 team by the end of the year ... they'll ride the defense thanks to D'qwell Jackson the best linebacker in the country no one has heard of
Zach (Thornton,CO)
Mason Crosby and John Torp of the Colorado Buffs are the best punter/kicker combo in the nation!
Justin (Detroit)
Why is Michigan so overrated every year. They win a 1/2 National Championship in 50 years. How much easier are they going to make their schedule. They have great talent that gets ruined by conservative play calling.
Matt (Cedar Rapids, IA)
I don't know if Penn State is on the rise again, but they will be better than they were last year for sure.
angelo (florham park, nj)
BUSH is the heisman,,, they may change the name of the trophy after he's done
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
Michael Bush rushes for more yards than Reggie Bush.
Zach (Thornton,CO)
Colorado's 3 Linebackers are going to rule the field and watch out running backs or you will get stuffed!
Curt (cable wi)
Iowa will be ranked high thanks to their cupcake schedule as usual.
Stephan (Richmondville NY)
SU will be 3rd in the big east
kevin (gainesville)
Michigan Overrated? werent they in the rose bowl last year????
The Pulse (3:51 PM)
Good stuff again this week, Pulse-ers. We'll be back next weekend for the start of college football season! And much more, of course.
Todd (Salt lake City)
the BCS will screw it up,, AGAIN!
Brian:Louisville, KY
uofl with its schedule could steal the national title away from whoever they happen to be playing. look at the stats bush may be the most versatile player in college football but michael bush had better stats.
Calvin (Clearwater, FL)
I like to give some credit to North Texas for having the best 1-2 RB combo in Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas. No one ever talks about North Texas.
Joe (Evansville, IN)
With Brad Smith and 16 returning seniors, Missouri will be a headache in the Big 12. Sadly they wont beat OU in the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 3rd
Ben ( Saginaw,MI)
Colorado and Oklahoma should switch divisions, UT and OU should have a chance to play each other in the Big 12 champ. game
Matt (Cedar Rapids, IA)
Iowa does not have a cupcake schedule, they have the 11th toughest schedule in the country. Might want to check that again before you got bashing another team.
Zach (Thornton,CO)
Marcus Vick will suprise everyone and show the NFL and NCAA what he really can do and show what his brother Mick Vick has taught him!
The Pulse (3:53 PM)
