J-Rod (WI)
Stu, do you really think Lebron has a shot at the NFL or at hockey?
Stuart Scott (6:04 PM)
Not sure what he said. May have been along the lines of he'd stuck with football, he could've been a good football player. I agree mostly. He was all-state in HS at WR. Don't know he could be a 6-8, 260 lb WR...but maybe as a TE. here's thing about FB. You can be an incredible athlete but if you don't enjoy getting it it isn't for you. I'm guessing he did to an extent, he played in HS. Don't think he'd be good just because he's a physical specimen. I think he'd be good if he does enjoy the contact.
Brett (Mt Airy, NC)
Stuart--I appreciate your recent defense of Marcus Jordan, who is, as you point out, just a 19 year old honoring his dad. But, speaking of his dad, since you've given him such credit for his role in creating and being the face of the "best basketball shoe ever," shouldn't MJ also bare some of the blame for the fact that Nike has done next to nothing about abusive conditions in the sweatshops that make his shoe?
Stuart Scott (6:06 PM)
Brett, I actually had a convo with MJ years ago on SC Sunday. I know he and reps at Nike did go to Asia to investigate whatever was going on there. I know it was a concern of his.
Chioke Hassan (Baltimore,Md)
Dear StuI would would like to see you hire Rickey Watters or Deacon Jones or John Randle or Charles Haley or Greg Lloyd as NFL Anaylist. Could you talk to your bosses about this as a sugestion?
Stuart Scott (6:06 PM)
Ahhhh
Aaron (Hempstead, L.I.)
Stu, we hear a lot about concussions in the NFL lately. Do you think the NFL and the union are doing enough to deal with this problem? Some players still try to hide the effects of concussion, like it's a stigma. Can this be changed?
Stuart Scott (6:08 PM)
It will take concerted effort bet league, management, coaches, players. I know it's a concern of league. But a big part of it is stigma of players not wanting someone thinking they are "soft." It's not true, it's more a paranoia than anything. But that's the culture, the perception that lots of pros worry about.
Steiny (NYC)
Stu, my BFF. It has been a while my man. But good news, absence makes the heart grow fonder. There has been a lot of debate recently over King James and whether or not he could make it in the NFL. Stu, many have tried to be a dual sport athlete and most have failed. Stu whatâ??s your thought, could Lebron make it on the gridiron?
Stuart Scott (6:09 PM)
What up Steiny. Missed you last chat. better have a had a good reason, like a sick vacay in a tropical land. Don't think he could do both. I think if he'd stuck to FB he has the skills and mental makeup to have been an NFL player.
Steve (Philly)
Yo Stu--what do you think of LeBron's suggestion that the NBA should retire Jordan's number 23?
Stuart Scott (6:12 PM)
Kind of agree. But I think it should be a few more in addition to MJ. Russell, Bird, Magic. Not just saying this based on them being four best. More so a combo of being supremely gifted and their impact on the game. Russell was the most and best champion ever. Magic and Larry saved the NBA, so to speak, and were great. And MJ is an icon, the greatest who ever played.
Brett (NC)
That was PR Stu. The agencies and foundations that follow these things are pretty clear: Very little has been done. I know you love MJ, but yis the fact that he is "concerned" enough? Really, look into this story, you're a journalist right?
Stuart Scott (6:13 PM)
Tell me how you are so sure he didn't mean it and it was PR. Like most sports fans, you are cynical. You think anything athlete says that sounds like the right thing, might not neccessarily be true.
TD Jesus (South Bend)
Hi Stuart. I writing on behalf of Notre Dame: Should we fire Weis or keep him--what's your response?
Stuart Scott (6:14 PM)
Kinda answered before. Ty Willingham should not have been fired for record. If he got boot for basically having same record as Charlie, then why shouldn't Weis?
Sean (Albany, Georgia)
Hello Stuart. The Toy Hall of Fame made big news this week when, after 11 years of existence. Honestly, I don't know what else is in there, but what toy, either from your childhood or your kids', would you absolutely think must be inducted?
Stuart Scott (6:19 PM)
Sean. My brother Stephen and I would agree. Because other than going outside and playing every sport imaginable and going in the woods to build forts and treehouse (we didn't play computer games...we didn't have them...had to be in when street lights came on)...the two toys that NEED to be in the HO (didn't know that existed but I'm glad)...first and foremost, Electric Football. The game where the field vibrated and the players moved. No. 2, GI Joe with the life-like hair and the Kung-Fu grip. And I gotta go with third one. The Six Million Dollar Man doll.
Mike (Manhattan)
Do you think Allen Iverson would help the Knicks? Would he help anyone at this point?
Stuart Scott (6:21 PM)
Yeah, he still got some skills. If you want AI to be a role player, score 15 a game, not a good fit. Need a PG with a big name to put people in seats, and want him to score 22-23 points, if that's what you need....Maybe it is the Knicks. I could see a Bobcat fit. He always did like Larry Brown.
Stuart Scott (6:23 PM)
BRB
Steiny (NYC)
Haha, I wish I had a better excuse than my dog chewed my computer wire. Stu, most dual professional athletes go from a physical sport, football, to a less contact sport. Do you really think it is possible at this stage in Lebron's career to play football and endure the physical punishment?
Stuart Scott (6:26 PM)
Only if he would give up basketball. He's be 25 Dec. 30. I'm not saying Lebron could FB and BBALL right now. Not possible. I think he could've if that was his only focus. Quit basketball, give him a year. And remember. If he likes getting hit and hitting people...it's a mind set of the punishment you're willing to take. If he really like shitting, he'd a be a ridiculous force at DE. Do you think an OT could handle the speed and quickness coming around the corner. He'd play 6-8, 280. As fast as any TE on field. As fast as some WRs.
Jake Klipp (Milwaukee, WI)
Dear the Knicks,Thanks for passing on Brandon Jennings.
Stuart Scott (6:28 PM)
Jake. Lets just say that the Knocks have erred once or twice in last half dozen years in draft selections.
justin (california)
hey sturart iam a big fan of you i love watching u on sports center
Casey Jonas (Saginaw Mi)
How come nobody is giving Michigan a chance against Ohio State. To me, when you're in a rivalry game, such as this one, records don't matter. But no one is giving Michigan a fair chance at home.
Stuart Scott (6:30 PM)
Sometimes. But the degree and depth to which Michigan FB has fallen is astounding. It would be like NC Duke and Kansas bball being an under .500 team. It would be like the Yankees winning 70 games in a season. Powerful, traditional, historical schools arent supposed to do what Mich has done the past couple yrs.
Steiny (NYC)
Can't argue with you. And since this is all fantasy I am going to draft him fantasy football league next week. Have a good weekend.
Stuart Scott (6:32 PM)
Thanks man. Hey, signing off on that note. Have a good holiday, people.
