Ohm (12:27 PM)
Alright ya'll, let's get this thing cracking!
Hi Ohm, tough game this weekend @ Chicago. Do you think the Jets build off last weeks win in Pitt? Also, any word on J Leonard returning for the playoffs? Thanks!
Ohm (12:29 PM)
Hi Rachel! Wud up in Hattiesburg? People sad to see Brett get the concussion? I was. Don't want to see it end like that, ya know? I think the Jets can build off last week. Chicago has clinched and are playing for seeding but I think the Jets can win this game. I don't know how the distractions with Rex will affect the team but I think they can win. I think Jim was placed on IR. So I think he is done.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Who do you think will have a better record in New York after Week 17 the New York Jets or the New York Giants?
Ohm (12:29 PM)
CF... the Jets. Easily. Giants might finish with just 10 wins. If that's the case, better hope win #10 comes this week.
A.J. (Queens NY)
Too depressed to bring up NYG collapse, so..I'm in the finals this week, I need 2 WR's to start. Austin, Branch, Mike Williams(TB), Manningham, Joe Webb (yes they have him listed as WR)..what ya think?
Ohm (12:30 PM)
AJ... good luck homey! I'd go with Austin vs Cards and MWill vs Seattle. The risk with Joe Webb is Favre. And you don't want to get burned. Even so, I think both will do better than Webb.
JimmyK (Rockaway, NJ)
Regarding the Giants - Are the Eagles just... better?
Ohm (12:31 PM)
JK... yes. Hard to argue against six straight wins. The Eagles make all the big plays and they are more clutch. Now, with all that being said, if the Giants face the Eagles in the playoffs, can they beat them? Yes. Absolutely. In fact, if they do face each other again, I might pick the Giants to win that game.
This whole Dodge fiasco is making Feagles look like a LEGEND. Something tells me that Pierre-Paul would make a great Punter. The freaking guy can do back flips in pads, he's got to be able to boot the ball 50 or 60 yards too. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Ohm (12:32 PM)
JJ... haha. Yeah, don't see that. JPP can do a lot of things and is a special teams beast. But Dodge has a great leg. He just needs to get things down mentally. Remember, he's a rookie. Again, no excuses, he's got to kick that ball out of bounds. But he has potential and you have seen it. He was punting pretty good up to that point.
Looking to next year (if there even is a season): Is there a possibility of Plax coming back? and do the G men look for improvements at WR and LB? Thanks.
Ohm (12:34 PM)
Freddy... man, are we looking toward next year already? You got the game of the year this week! LOL. There's always a possibility with Plax. Sure. Especially seeing how things turned out for Vick. I'll give it a slight chance though. Don't know if the Giants want to go down that road again. I don't think they have to make improvements at WR. They will have Ramses Barden, Hixon and Cruz back off IR and Steve Smith back to go with Nicks and Manningham. I do see them trying to improve linebacker and add depth at corner and improve offensive line as well.
Jay (Old Bridge, New Jersey)
Fantasy Football championship. Should i start Kevin Boss, Aaron Hernandez, or the disappointing Dustin Keller? Also pick two, Mendenhall, McCoy, or Blount? Thanks for the help and i enjoy all your work on the giants.
Ohm (12:36 PM)
I think I might go Boss here. The Pack have given up five touchdowns in their last four games to TEs. Hernandez has a good matchup as well and might be better option in PPR. But Boss could get the TD. Other two: I like McCoy and Mendenhall.
Andiamo (New York)
Can I still ask questions on here??? You know, being as though I'm perma banned and all...if so....Ohm, is Corey Webster a pro bowl corner IYO?
Ohm (12:38 PM)
Dude, I have no idea why you have been banned or what you are even talking about. LOL. You are never banned here man. Webster for Pro Bowl.... hmm.... he's been solid this year. No doubt. I haven't been able to pay attention to what other corners are doing in the NFC this season. So focused on the Giants. He's got a shot.
Merry Christmas Ohm: Status of S.Holmes and how do you see him performing this week with his injury and that of Sanchez.
Ohm (12:40 PM)
Happy Holidays David. Well, I haven't been too on top of Jets but I think I saw Holmes at practice today or back on field. As far as how he performs this week, could be tough. He's got the toe injury and Sanchez's arm injury. If you are asking from a fantasy perspective, I'd consider starting a better option ahead of him but if you have none, you can do worse to start him as a WR3 or flex option.
Mike (Queens, New York)
I know everyone is obviously upset about last week's loss, and how could you not be? It was easily th emost devistating loss i've had to take as a fan, it was a pure heartbreaker. But everyone needs to remember that for 53 minutes, this team played flawless football and the best i've seen them play in awhile. Do you believe the Giants really are that team that dominated or do you believe they are the team that collapsed in the last 7 minutes?
Ohm (12:43 PM)
Mike, well, I still think the SF playoff loss was worse than this in my opinion. But this was crushing. No doubt. I think they are exactly what you saw, a team that can put together a dominant stretch but has trouble finishing and not killing themselves with stupid turnovers or defensive breakdowns against elite teams. Sorry, but I do think that is who they are. Can they clean it up and somehow survive a full 60 mins against a playoff opponent? Yes. Can they beat the Eagles in Philly in the playoffs? Yes. But they have a tendency to kill themselves in the end.
Andiamo (New York)
I'm a die hard giants fan for 29 years...i was over the philly loss about 19 minutes later. Why is Coughlin so distraught?!?! If I were him I would taken a garbage can and emptied it on the players....and said...now, I'm going to get all this trash this week....so here's your share. It seemed to work well for Parcells! (for my Gmen fans who remember that story)
Ohm (12:44 PM)
Well, Coughlin began massaging the egos of his players and made sure they started to turn the page. I think the leaders on this team are stepping up. Eli with his talk, Tuck, Rolle, etc. I think the Giants will respond in Green Bay. Not sure if they will win, but I do think they will play hard and play well.
Will offensive strategy change to help Dodge?
Ohm (12:45 PM)
Reed, I think you are asking me if the Giants would consider going for it on fourth downs instead of punting? Well, I do think if it is another pressure-packed situation, the Giants could go for it on a fourth-and-short if they normally might not. But otherwise, I don't see them drastically changing things for one player. That might compound the situation.
Although I think the Giants win on Sunday, the impact of losing some depth on the D-line with Tollefsons injury is pretty significant.
Ohm (12:46 PM)
Phil, yeah, Tollefson is solid man. Solid backup. But they got depth there. Serious depth. Linval Joseph might see some action now too. More JPP. Can't argue with that. Tollefson's absence hurts on special teams too.
nfjints (east greenbush,ny)
Do you sens that the giants will have letdown game like last year game vs carolina?
Ohm (12:47 PM)
I'd be a little surprised if that happened. I think this team has heart, even though most of it was ripped out of their chest as if that guy from Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom took it out of them. LOL. But I think they will show up. I don't think you will see them quit.
Otto (New Jerz)
Happy Hollidays Ohm! First, why is Dodge still the punter? I can think of 3 games that he has killed the GMen. Second, why isnt Fewell taking any of the blame for the "collapse". Third, its obvious that O'hara and Diehl should be replaced with W. Beatty and Boothe. The O-Line was pounding the oppositon in the run game and last sunday they got pushed around? Thoughts?
Ohm (12:50 PM)
Happy Holidays! Dodge is still the punter because the team likes his strong leg and they don't tend to cut their draft picks that early. I think he really has killed them in one game. The others, he has been up and down but he wasn't to blame. Even in this last game, the defense was at fault and many people did kill the Giants defense. But one thing to keep in mind here. Credit Michael Vick. He is probably the toughest quarterback to defend in the NFL and Fewell did an excellent job for three and a half quarters. In the end, Vick took the game over. Sometimes great players do that. And then there is nothing a defensive coordinator can do to stop that. As for the O-line, Diehl and O'Hara went up against a better defensive team in the Eagles. They are better with Diehl and O'Hara. O'Hara is just rusty. Give him some time.
Hey Ohm, how come the Giants haven't fired their special teams coach yet? They must have the worst special teams in the league this year.
Ohm (12:51 PM)
Lee, Coughlin or the Giants don't fire assistants or any coaches during the season. I am sure many of you wanted Bill Sheridan fired during the season last year right? Not gonna happen during the season. And the special teams was improving up until the fourth quarter of that game.
If my FFB team wins, does it not count since none of my players play in New York? I'm told that only in New York can players feel pressure, so I guess I'm winning despite guys not feeling any pressure in any other cities.
Ohm (12:52 PM)
Not sure what you mean Scottie but I hope your team wins home boy!
Spider Man (Off Broadway)
Any more people going on IR after practicing in my play?
Ohm (12:53 PM)
Man, I got to get tix to the play. I hear it's ridiculous!
I called the onside kick at home watching the game, did Coughlin really not think Reid was going to try something there? especially once they ran that guy off of the field las minute, CALL A TIMEOUT AND REGROUP!!!!!!!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!! lol
Ohm (12:54 PM)
J... yeah, he said he didn't want to sacrifice field advantage by putting hands team on. Then he says when he saw his players counting bodies when the Eagle ran off the field, leaving 10 men on, in hindsight, he should have called the time out. Of course, that's all in hindsight.
Billy (Long Island)
Being a Chiefs fan from NY and former Jets fan, Chiefs vs Jets would be great if they Chiefs can win out and the Jets match up with the Chiefs in the first round, do you honestly think that the Jets can come into Arrowhead and stop the best running back in the NFL, Jamaal Charles and a still effective and pissed off Thomas Jones?! ...I DON'T!
Ohm (12:55 PM)
Billy... Chiefs fan! Love it. I think that would be a fun matchup. Jets in Arrowhead would be insane. The sea of red. I do think that the Jets would slow down the rushing attack of Charles and Jones and they would get to Cassel. But the Chiefs defense could get some picks off Sanchez and the Chiefs special teams could make a play. Would be a great game. I can see the Jets winning that one though to be honest.
What's up Ohm? Man that loss last week was like a punch in the stomach, especially for a Giants fan living in Dallas. Well with your help I'm in my fantasy football championship. I had a RB and WR question. 16 team ppr Stwerat, Greene or Jennings, I need 2. At WR I have David Nelson, Louis Murphy, Josh Morgan or Jacoby Jones, I need 1. Thanks again man and happy holidays to you and yours.
Ohm (12:58 PM)
Ian, wud up! I think you got to go Stewart because he has been hot even against Pitt. And then I guess go Jennings vs Wash and hope for a TD. At WR: I'd go Jones. Good luck!
Bill Parcells (Tuna pad)
Ohm, answer the questions. That's why you lift all them weights.
Ohm (12:58 PM)
Man, I got to get back in the gym!
Jon (far Rockaway)
Do you think the giants will knock out rodgers from the game the same way they knocked out the other five QB's?
Ohm (12:59 PM)
Jon... actually I think that number might be six or seven now. I lost track. But I think we might need to add Tarvaris to that mix. There's a chance. I think they will bring the heat. They certainly are going to come after Aaron Rodgers. Bulluck said it will make them more aggressive knowing he is coming back from a concussion and didn't play last week.
What do you think about Coughlin admitting that al the talk about Cowher taking his job gets to him a bit? NY media constantly puts TC on the hot seat when the Giants lose, but the truth is he's always kept them competitive and they can still make the playoffs this year.
Ohm (1:01 PM)
ASN, I think Coughlin will be here barring a complete collapse and the team quits on him. He does rally the team in tough times. But he also has a track record of second-half struggles after hot starts as well. But he is a good coach and the team listens to him.
Ochocinco or Jonathan Stewart in my flex position???? please help me decide
Ohm (1:02 PM)
Ocho is risky. I saw he may only play a half or something like that. This is what you gotta do... read up on Bengals. See what the beat writer says about how much Ocho will play. If he plays a full game, I think I go Ocho. But you don't have the luxury of waiting to see. So I think you have to play Stewart tonight. What happens if Ocho only plays a half? Can you pick up Caldwell or Shipley just in case?
kevin marzolla (nyc)
Ohm, The game was spiraling out of control once the Giants lost that onsides kick. Everyone in the stadium could feel it and all momentum was with the Eagles . I have issues with Gilbride on that last possession. The last thing you could do is come out with two straight incompletions. I would have spread out draw play to open up the series and according what that play gains dictates how u manage your next few plays and also keeps the defense off balanced. The worst case scenario is taking the game into overtime. At no point can you kick the ball back to Philly and we all know how that turned out!
Ohm (1:03 PM)
Draw play would have been a nice safe call. Yeah, you got to take care of business and run some clock. I understand they were going for the win and Eli is terrific at bringing them back. My gripe is the series before when the Giants needed to run the clock out.
Graig (New York)
Do you really think Cowher is a better coach than Coughlin, because I do not.
Ohm (1:04 PM)
G... I think he would give this team a spark and new life. And he is a very good coach. But I do think Coughlin is very good too and very underrated by many.
Ohm (1:06 PM)
Alright guys... got to run! Thanks for the questions. If you have any more fantasy dilemmas or anything else, hit me up on Twitter @NotoriousOHM and I will answer in My Fantasy mailbag by Saturday night. Thanks and Happy Holidays and good luck in your games and be SAFE!
