Ohm (3:02 PM)
Hey guys, let's get started!
Ohm, is Mark Collins the greatest CB to ever play for the Giants? I think he is.
Ohm (3:02 PM)
Lee, I don't know about all that. I just know that the Giants can use another corner for depth but really they could use another talented corner to help because they are thin there and they need more speed and athleticism.
Ohm! What happened to your Orioles. Started out hot and have cooled off a bit. A nice win vs Minn last night but that was a Mauer/Morneau/D Youngless lineup. Can the O's and that young staff hang around in August?
Ohm (3:04 PM)
Rach... it's the O's. I never put much in April baseball, especially with the Orioles. They are very young. Still need another year or so. Pitching is really young. I'm not putting much stock into this season for the O's. Would just like to see improvement.
Ohm (3:04 PM)
Here's what I want to know... how do Wolverines fans feel about their head coach putting in a countdown clock to the Michigan State game? My how the tables have turned.
Bryce (San Diego)
It was 85 and sunny this weekend. I got a little sunburned at the beach, but got a good tan going. New York blows.
Ohm (3:05 PM)
I was actually in Southern California last weekend. It was like 90 outside LA. Too hot for April for me. LOL.
Cjris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What do you think of the New York Giants facing the New York Jets on Christmas?
Ohm (3:06 PM)
Love it. I can't wait for the week leading up to that game to see what Rex and the Jets say about the Giants. You know the Giants won't say anything. Well, Brandon Jacobs might say something and maybe Antrel Rolle. But otherwise it will be pretty quiet from the Giants side.
Tim (New Haven, CT)
My man Ohm! As both a New York native and a Marketing major, I am very confused at the NFL's decision-making with regard to the September 11th games. Call me crazy, but wouldn't it have made the most sense to have Redskins vs. Eagles (Or Steelers) at 4:15pm and schedule Giants vs. Jets at 8:20 pm? All the places that were most affected by 9/11 (Washington D.C, Pennsylvania, and New York) are represented and Giants-Jets could go down as the most watched regular season game in history. Do you agree that this makes perfect sense from both an emotional and Public Relations standpoint? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Ohm (3:08 PM)
Wud up Timmy. Well, the Commissioner was on a conference call today with Giants fans and he said by having the Jets play in NY and the Giants in DC, both places are covered. But I hear you about PA... hard to satisfy everyone. I guess we just have to look at the overall intention and the intention is a good one. Since I live in the NY-NJ area and am from the DC area, I understand how much it means to both areas. Western PA was greatly affected as well and it should never be forgotten.
Whats a realistic goal for this team ?
Ohm (3:09 PM)
Andrew, playoffs. And then see what happens. But the goal has to be playoffs. Just get in. They can win the division but it will be very difficult. Just get into the dance and go from there. That really should be the goal.
Who is the key to this teams success ? because with this kind of a schuele you cant have a slide at the end , especially with the teams thry play
Ohm (3:10 PM)
Andrew, the second half of the schedule is brutal. There isn't really one player who is the key. But if there is, it's got to be Eli. He has to protect the football, move the ball and score. The defense is going to be fine even though they need more athleticism, speed and help at linebacker as well. But Eli has to play well and not throw picks.
Diominic (Rochester, NY)
Hey Ohm i'm that Ayers is more of 3-4 linebacker. What do you think?
Ohm (3:11 PM)
D, I think you are asking if Ayers is more of a 3-4 linebacker? I think so but when we talked to him at the combine, he says he can play 4-3. I think it sounds like he is a guy who will be better than what the combine stats say, a player more than a guy who is off the charts in measurables and speed. But we'll see. Don't know if the value for him is there at 19, but who knows.
I'm a bit torn on the Giants first-round pick... They need an elite, speedy corner to cover the DeSean Jackson's, Jeremy Macklin's, Miles Austin's and Dez Bryant's of the world (trade up for Peterson?), but this O-Line needs some help right now... I kno they draft for value, but this year I think they have to go with need, CB or OL??? THoughts???
Ohm (3:13 PM)
J, you sound distraught man! LOL. Well, I agree, in a perfect world, they could use an elite corner and an impact linebacker. Neither of which will be at 19. Trading up for Peterson may cost a fortune and in a draft that comes before free agency, teams might not want to deal picks. At 19, o-line offers most prospects of value it appears. And they likely could go OL. But, if there were a very talented corner or linebacker there as well, I'd think they would go corner or linebacker. But I don't see someone of that talent with no red flags there at 19.
Ryan (Brooklyn, NY)
Do you think a 9/11 game between the Giants and Jets would've been good or bad for the New York?
Ohm (3:14 PM)
Ryan, I am sensitive to 9-11 and the victims. So it is hard to say what is good or bad. But in my mind, anything that brings attention, and the right attention, to 9-11 should be a good thing. The bottom line is, games are going to be played that day no matter what. A Jets-Giants game would have been terrific for the city. But you can't ignore Washington and PA as well.
Billy C (New york)
Ohm (3:15 PM)
Wud up yo?
Neil (New York)
What are the chances that Giants trade back in the draft?
Ohm (3:15 PM)
Neil, good question. Don't know. Have no idea how the draft coming before FA will affect how GMs think. My guess, and this is purely a guess, is Giants stay put.
What's up Ohm?With the draft fast do you have a better take about who will be our #19 in this year's draft?
Ohm (3:16 PM)
Wud up GFan from Louisiana? Not really. LOL! We talk to Reese tomorrow but he won't divulge much. Hopefully we hear something more over the weekend and early next week. Still think it's going to be OL, maybe Pouncey or Castonzo. But I'm still not ruling out defensive lineman either knowing Reese.
With the NFL schedule being released, which game are you most excited for this year ?
Ohm (3:18 PM)
Wud up D? Hmm... from a purely selfish point of view, I am excited about going to SF because I LOVE SF. Great city, good food. But from football standpoint, so many. Giants vs Pats will be great. Giants at New Orleans on MNF is awesome. And Giants-Jets will be more entertaining than ever with Rex. But I want to see Giants vs Eagles again at home during that brutal stretch of games. I want to see how they respond to what happened last year.
Kenny Phillips' Knee (With kenny)
OHM! What's uo man? Any word on if the giant players are organizing their own workouts? If so, when and where? I've been doing my own thing: bend, extend rinse and repeat. Getting a little bored here.
Ohm (3:20 PM)
Yo, where you been man? Working out? LOL. Tuck said he was going to email a bunch of the guys. For the most part, as of a few weeks ago when I saw Cofield, Diehl, Canty and Tuck, they were all working out on their own at various sports centers around NJ. No organized workouts as of then. But you never know the longer this thing goes.
OHM, my wedding is nov 13, at the same time as giants-49ers... i would be pissed but its worth it bc my jets fans friends will be missing jets-pats that night. I dont really have a question...
Ohm (3:22 PM)
Shai, congrats man! What's your wedding song? Comforter? LOL. (Only R&B fans probably get that one, but anyways...) Well, at least it's Giants-49ers and not Giants-Eagles or Giants-Packers right? Look at the bright side, you are getting married and hopefully you will get a Giants win too. Because if the Giants lose that game, they will be in big trouble considering they play Pats, Eagles, Saints, Packers and Cowboys all before and after that game. But enjoy the wedding man! LOL. By the way, DJ or band?
Henry (New York)
Ohm, what are our playoff chances with this schedule? It seems like were in for a tough second half test against some explosive offenses, the d is gonna need to show up and be ready to play
Ohm (3:24 PM)
Henry, I make my game-by-game picks here http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=youngmisuk_ohm&id=6391669 ... as absurd as it is to make picks in April before knowing who they draft or pick up in free agency... but my guess is they will be close to the same team they were last year personnel wise, maybe an addition or two here and there. So, I got them winning 10 games and it is going to be tough. They could win as many as 11... or only 8. I think the playoffs are there within their reach. Hard to say what rest of NFC will do. But defense will have to be strong, very strong.
Ohm (3:25 PM)
Cheer up dog...
Hey Ohm, if Plax returns to the Giants in time for the stretch run, would that change your Giants prediction of 10-6?
Ohm (3:26 PM)
Izzy... good question... yes and no. Because it changes by adding a playmaker like Plax, who can win a game or two with his ability. But is Plax going to be the same Plax we remember? Who knows right? But I'd have to think that adding Plax equals maybe one more win.
vernon speller (savannah, ga)
what is a realistic expectation for Big Blue
Ohm (3:27 PM)
V-Spell... I predicted 10 wins in my analysis here. Check it out, tell me what you think buddy... hard to say without knowing who they will add after this but these are my thoughts for now: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=youngmisuk_ohm&id=6391669
Ohm, how do u see the season ending with such a difficult slate of games
Ohm (3:29 PM)
Andrew, here's my column. But the quick gist is I would be worried about another potential collapse. That schedule is ridiculously hard after the bye and the Miami game. That one stretch is an absolute backbreaker. The Giants are going to have to earn a playoff spot. They can do it. But it's going to be very very hard. And if they are banged up with injuries and Eli is throwing picks everywhere, they won't make the playoffs. They have to play really good football and I think they have it within them to do it but we'll see. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?columnist=youngmisuk_ohm&id=6391669
Ohmmm, having a band. I should have thrown in that my engagement party started 30 minutes after Desean Jackson returned that punt for a TD. I was all smiles that day on the outside, but inside I was dead.
Ohm (3:30 PM)
Good Buddha man! It's just football. Life and wifey are more important homey. LOL. So you are telling me that whenever you have anything related to a wedding and Giants playing at same time, bad things happen? LOL.
Ohm (3:31 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for the questions, leave me some comments in the blog and on my column. Holla later!
Ohm (3:31 PM)
Wait, I'll take another question
Could you see the Giants taking Jimmy Smith at 19? I don't want the Eagles taking him, and you know they will if he's there.
Ohm (3:32 PM)
Kevin... from all that I have heard, Jimmy Smith has great talent, skills that would be a first-rounder in the top 20 picks but so many people point toward red flags. I am sure the Giants have done their homework. You can't worry about what the Eagles will or not do with their pick. Got to worry about what is best for the Giants and who will fit in chemistry-wise and talent-wise. But I hear you.
Ohm (3:33 PM)
alright, thanks guys. Talk to you next week!
