Ohm (2:00 PM)
Wud up ya'll? Did you guys see that USA win over Brazil. That was awesome. Still buzzing over that win. Let's get this started!
Richard Shames (Ny)
Hey ohm, Do you see osi starting for the giants week 1? will he be wearing a different uniform week 1?...How serious is mount osi about being paid and if we have to move him what would be his value?(picks, maybe a LB in return)
Ohm (2:02 PM)
Richard, gun to my head, I'd say Osi sticks around. That's not to say that Osi isn't dead serious about getting a raise. He is. And he could hold out. But I just think Osi will be around, gut feeling that's all. If they were to trade him, my guess is they get picks back for next season. First sign to look for is what the Giants do with Kiwi. I expect them to re-sign him but if they don't, they boosts Osi's value even more.
i want Paul Posluszny!!!!,...can he play strongside? if we get him what happens with goff?
Ohm (2:03 PM)
Rich, hard to say. My guess is if they sign him, he would play middle. Goff maybe moves to SAM and shares that with another linebacker. Perhaps they split one outside linebacker spot with Goff and a safety... we'll see, but Pos would give Fewell more options and somebody he is comfortable with at MLB.
to me, the giants' biggest need is OLB. there have been way too many times where a RB has gotten around the edge or a TE has gained significant yardage on a flat due to blown zone in recent memory. what're the chances the giants address this need in free agency and who are the likely candidates?
Ohm (2:05 PM)
Matt, I'd agree but I think they can improve at just about every spot at linebacker really. And if Posluszny becomes a UFA, the Giants could reunite him with Perry Fewell, who was his D-Coordinator in Buffalo. Perry can move pieces around to play outside linebacker. But I think they need, overall, just a better linebacker at any spot really. As for other free agents, we have to see who becomes UFAs and RFAs.
Ed (The Bronx, NY)
If the Giants do indeed sign Poslunsky and all their O-Line men stay healthy is there any reason for them not to go 12-4?
Ohm (2:06 PM)
Ed, even if they sign Posluszny and the offensive line remains healthy, I still think 12-4 will be difficult. They have a really hard schedule late in the season. Pats, Saints, Eagles, Pack just to name a few. I'm thinking 10 wins, 11 would be really really good. Twelve might be a stretch. Not completely out of reach but will be hard.
Since the giants are over the cap besides not picking up shawn Andrew's contract what can they do to get under it and once they are under the cap will they be able to sign other players besides their own
Ohm (2:07 PM)
Carl, hard to know for sure without knowing what the cap will be yet. But Shawn's contract will make a little difference. Then you got to see who they re-sign amongst their own FAs. I expect a lot of them to return.
Whats good Ohm? My question is about Steve Smith, if he cant fully regain form this season, Who do you think will be takin his reps at WR? could he possibly lose his starting job?
Ohm (2:09 PM)
Dutch, wud up? I think if Smith isn't back to his normal level, which is going to be hard with the kind of delicate surgery he had, Smith could become more of a third receiver behind Nicks and Manningham. He's still a great route runner who really didn't depend on lightening speed beforehand anyways. But I think initially, the Giants will take it slow with Smith and have him work his way back.
Andrew (Ann Arbor)
Yo Ohm, who do you think is the best basketball player in the big 10 besides sullinger. Do you think hardaway jr is in the top 10? He looked great at times in the USA u19 tourney.
Ohm (2:11 PM)
hey Andrew... If you are saying top 10 in the Big Ten, I'd definitely say Hardaway JR is in that mix. Sullinger definitely is the best in the Big Ten. I have to get my mind back on Big Ten basketball for a second to think about who else is out there. But I think Purdue gets Robbie back this year too right? Hard to say how he will be after so many knee surgeries. Sullinger will be hard to stop.
how do you pronounce your last name?
Ohm (2:12 PM)
Thanks for asking Matt: It's Young-miss-sook. If you wanted to pronounce it the real Thai way, it would be Young-mee-sook.
Tim (Newark, NJ)
Hey Ohm, keep up the solid work! My question is...if the Giants could keep only Steve Smith or Ahmad Bradshaw, who would they pick?
Ohm (2:13 PM)
Thanks Timmy. IF the Giants could only keep one... it be Bradshaw in my mind. But I do believe they will keep both.
Dan (Los Angeles)
Why does Eli get such little respect from the league and the media? He plays in one of the toughest venues in the league with the most pressure to perform. His stats compare with the best QB's in the league and he doesn't get the benefit of throwing in a dome for half of his games. By the way Eli went on the road in the toughest places to play and then orchestrated the biggest super bowl upset in modern history. I think I am watching a different game than everyone else. I would take Eli in a big game over anyone not named brady!
Ohm (2:15 PM)
Dan, it's a question that comes up often. My guess is that people see the body language, the interceptions, the up and down play, the lack of eye-popping statistics the way say a Philip Rivers has sometimes, and then they sleep on Eli. You can never take away the Super Bowl trophy from Eli. But he does need to cut down on the interceptions.
Ed (The Bronx, NY)
Actually I dont care if they go 0-16 as long as their is football back in my life! Can I get an AMEN!
Ohm (2:16 PM)
Word the mutha. But I ain't covering no 0-16 team. Sorry. LOL. Until last season, teams I had covered for the majority of the year made the postseason. Giants snapped my streak.
wut up big Ohm!, have'nt heard from you in a while. wut have u been up to? looks like fantasy football is back on track, what do you think?
Ohm (2:17 PM)
Fantasy is definitely back on track. I've been here, just went away last week to Vieques, an island off Puerto Rico. It was sweet except for the rain that hit for a few days. But I'm usually around. May take one more week off before season starts. Or hope to. As for fantasy, can't wait man. Can't wait!
Andrew (Ann Arbor)
How are the dre beats treating you?
Ohm (2:18 PM)
Andrew, you know what? I finally got around to using them on my ipod on this last trip and I love them! They're great. I don't think they block out as much sound as the Bose do but the sound is great!
lets talk contracts: ahmad bradshaw, my man kiwi, steve smith, and shawn andrews. I, for one, was impressed with Andrews' utility last season. I know he has durability issues, but I thought he proved some worth last season filling in (when healthy) for an already depleted OL. What about Kiwi's durability, if I recall correctly, hasn't he been sidelined with significant injuries these past 2 seasons? I think he can have a huge season if healthy.
Ohm (2:20 PM)
I think the Giants re-sign Bradshaw, Smith and Boss. Kiwanuka depends on whether he gets a big deal elsewhere. I still think the Giants will find a way to bring him back. Shawn is a bit trickier. Not sure what the Giants will do with his contract. Shawn was good when healthy, you are right. But it all depends on what they decide to do and feel they need to do. I'd like to see the big guy back.
What are the big dinner plans on tap tonight?
Ohm (2:20 PM)
Turkey tacos. LOL.
Pete (MI) [via mobile]
Ohm (2:21 PM)
Dude, you're late. And you sent this via mobile? Wolverine slacking man. I went to an all Wolverine wedding this past weekend. Hopefully I won't be around that many Wolverines again outside of seeing Sparty whip the Wolverines in the Big House.
what kind of year do you think Bradshaw will have this year?
Ohm (2:22 PM)
I think Ahmad will have better numbers than last year because he will cut down on the fumbles.
i dont mind jeter not playing in the ASG, maybe in a way, without saying it and sounding Arrogant, he's just stepping aside to let one of the younger kids enjoy it, what do you think Big Ohm?
Ohm (2:23 PM)
I'm a bit torn on this one. I think you are obligated to kind of go if you are voted in. Fans want to see you there. But I understand where he is coming from. Long long season and he could use the break. If you are a Yankee fan, it's probably best that he rests.
Joey V (NY)
what kind of roll do you see hixon playing this year?
Ohm (2:24 PM)
I see him returning kickoffs and punts and being the fourth or fifth wide receiver. We have to see how Barden bounces back from ankle surgery and how Jernigan progresses but I think Hixon is highly-motivated to come back strong.
Ohm (2:25 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for the questions today. See you all soon!
