Ohm (3:03 PM)
Hey guys, sorry for the delay... some technical difficulties.
John cranbury,nj [via mobile]
Ohm, i have complete faith snee bounces back this year but I'm still not sold on the rest of the O-line. Beatty's back is still an issue, bass is a gamer one week and on Pluto the next, and I've never liked diehl on the outside. When is James brewer going to get his shot to maul? Petrus?
Ohm (3:05 PM)
Hey John, I would have to say that I think Beatty, if healthy, is the guy at LT and Diehl is the guy at RT. Unless Brewer shines in camp, I think those two are the starters unless there is an injury. Petrus is going to have to wait because I see Boothe at LG.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
What Free Agents & Undrafted Free Agents did the Giants sign for this year?
Ohm (3:06 PM)
Chris, this question was answered in the blog a while back. But there are too many to answer. The biggest ones of the top of my head are Martellus Bennett, they traded for Keith Rivers... these are the two bigger names they added in free agency and the offseason.
Ohm (3:07 PM)
Will Michigan ever beat MSU ever again?
Ohm, just wanted to let you know IM JUICED for some Big Blue football. Here is to a great season and a tip of the cap to you for the hard work you will put in. Oh and your thoughts on James Brewer, think he can steal a starting spot? Go Giants!!
Ohm (3:08 PM)
Thanks Joey! One week away. I think the coaching staff really wants to see Brewer shine and show what he can do. I think in the end they will trust Beatty at LT and Diehl at RT for now.
Ben(NY) [via mobile]
Do u see reuben randle taking that 3rd receiver spot over hixon? Also with jacobs gone, what will the giants do on the goal line
Ohm (3:09 PM)
Hey Ben... I think that could happen as the season progresses. I think, just my guess, is Hixon has the upperhand due to experience and Randle will need camp to learn the offense and the pro game. But he could take the job as season progresses unless Randle is awesome in camp which is always possible. As for goal line, I think it will be Bradshaw.
Who is a bigger worry for the Giants, Philadelphia or Dallas?
Ohm (3:11 PM)
Alex, I am going to say the Eagles. That's just my personal feeling. I think the Eagles are able to get their act together more than the Cowboys when things go well. And the Eagles were coming on toward the end of last year. But the Cowboys, I think this has to be their year to make a run, right? Sooner or later that window is going to close.
Ohm! Fantasy question for you. With Marshawn Lynch getting in trouble yet again, where do you draft the guy now with a suspension on the way? PS, have you heard the new Nas album? Thanks!
Ohm (3:12 PM)
Hey Rach! I have not heard the new Nas album yet. I've heard good things. As for Marshawn, I would say wait to see as long as you can how long the suspension is. Otherwise, based on your league and if there is a run on running bcaks, I would try to grab him maybe fourth round or later. Depends on how many teams in your league and importance of running backs.
Alan(NY) [via mobile]
Ohm I love what you do u are great? With Grant gone do u see a bigger competition between amukamara and Thomas for starting corner? Because the three safety is over
Ohm (3:14 PM)
Thanks Alan! Appreciate it. I think unless Thomas' knee isn't ready -- and he may take it slower during early part of camp to make sure everything is alright -- I still see TT as the starter. And I think the goal for Amukamara is to be the third corner. When TT was out in OTAs and camp, Coe and Tryon took reps with first team.
Ohm (3:15 PM)
TT said those guys -- Coe and Tryon -- looked very good with the first team.
Henry (New York City)
Which new (FA, rookie, UDFA) members of the secondary do you see as potential break out contributors this year?
Ohm (3:17 PM)
Hey Henry. Hard to say but Perry Fewell praised Stevie Brown as being more versatile than he originally thought from what he saw in OTAs and minicamp. Rookie-wise, Hosley has shown some flashes. I'm eager to see Antwaun Molden in camp as well.
Brandon (Milford (DE))
Why is it the Giants never seem to have a decent kick/punt returner? Their best one ever is currently serving a 30 year term in a Charleston, SC prison.
Ohm (3:18 PM)
B... fans complain about this and the linebacker position. LOL. They had it in mind drafting Randle, Hosley and Wilson this year. All three can return. But I think Hixon, Randle, Hosley get a crack at punt returning. Kickoffs could be Hixon, Scott, Ware, others.
Drew (New York)
What up Ohm! Who do you think has the better year, the Prince or Terrell Thomas?
Ohm (3:19 PM)
Drew, tough question. We got to see how TT's knee is going to be. All things being equal -- and of course, that is a big if -- I will say TT. I think Amukamara needs maybe another year. I could be wrong though.
Hey Ohmie, Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but there's a team called the broncos are coming to stampede over a certain team callled the ___________.Take care buddy!!! Losers!!!
Ohm (3:19 PM)
LL, you talking about Western vs MSU?
Kevin (TR New Jersey)
Hey Ohm! First I would like to say that this will be the first year that Eli throws for 5,000+ yards. Who do you think will have the most TD receptions for the Giants this season?
Ohm (3:21 PM)
Hey Kev... will Eli throw for that much if the Giants have a better running game? It's funny because if Eli actually has a good running game, the play-action is more potent. But he will throw less because the Giants will run more. But it's possible if the running game struggles again. As for most TD receptions, going to be between Nicks and Cruz. I'll say Nicks.
Brandon (Milford, DE)
Is Towson alum Sean Landeta the best punter in NYG history (or at the very least the best one-bar facemask punter in NYG history)?
Ohm (3:22 PM)
B... Hmm... without going back and looking at stats and doing research, I would say in my time of watching the Giants, between him and Feagles. Feagles was really good. I might give the edge to Feagles, especially seeing how good he was for so long.
Which rookie will have the biggest impact this season? Wilson, Randle, or Hosley
Ohm (3:24 PM)
Hey A... I'm going to say Randle probably because he may get the most playing time of the three. I think Wilson may need some time to get snaps because of pass protection, etc. But we'll see in camp. If Wilson wins the backup running back job, then he could see a lot of snaps.
Travis Edwards (New York)
Do you think that Eli Manning has what it takes to repeat on what he did last year? And is Hakeem Nicks 100% healthy at the beginning of the season?
Ohm (3:25 PM)
TE, yes, I think Eli can actually get better. He is in his prime, he knows the system, he is very confident and he makes his teammates better. And I think Nicks will be ready for the season.
Greg (Bristol, CT)
What is your prediction for David Wilson this year, and possibly, going forward? What should we as fans expect in year 1?
Ohm (3:27 PM)
Hard to say right now Greg. Got to see how fast he catches on. He is very very fast and quick. very shifty. He might be the most explosive player at line of scrimmage on the team. I think Scott might have more speed from beginning to end. But at line of scrimmage, Wilson is explosive. I'd love to see Wilson win the backup job and also catch some balls out of the backfield. But Giants sometimes take it slower with rookies. So you may have to be patient.
Don't sleep on Hopkins. Your thoughts
Ohm (3:28 PM)
Hey Matt, he has a big body, looks athletic and can catch. Got to see if he can get reps though. Looks like Pascoe and Bennett are ahead of him right now.
Your prediction for a surprise/breakout player on offense, defense, and special teams?
Ohm (3:30 PM)
Hey Justin... hmm... let me think on this one and get back to you next week! That's a really good question. Want to give it some thought. I may have to start a blog series on this. Candidates: Ware, Brown and Scott at RB. Barden, Jernigan, Randle at WR. Pascoe, Bennett and Hopkins at TE. Rivers, possibly Herzlich at LB. Amukamara and Sash possibly in secondary. Just off top of my head.
Ohm (3:30 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for all the questions today! See you next week. Camp starts Thursday!
