KC Joyner (3:00 PM)
Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!
Mr Mom (omw to get kids from school)
Hey yo..wsup KC? Happy Turkey Day to u and urs. Flex question PLEASE.. D.Amendola,James Jones, or Daniel Thomas?? Hope to see a response after i get the kids home and get their snax..THANX!!!
KC Joyner (3:01 PM)
Glad to help! Jones rates higher on the TFS flex start-sit charts.
KC - Commish Question. Trade made yesterday, 2 day processing period for voting by other league members. Deal involves CJ Spiller who plays tonight. If no one has voted against the trade, should I as commish push the trade through so each team gets the guys they traded for this week? Trade involves me so I'm hesitant to do it as I don't want any bias claimed by the other league members.
KC Joyner (3:02 PM)
IMO, a trade for TNF players should be moved ahead regardless of if it involves the commissioner's team. Chatters, what do you think?
Sean (At work... Shhhhh....)
In a vacuum, would you trade Arian Foster for Calvin Johnson and A. Morris in a PPR league? Thanks for your input.
KC Joyner (3:03 PM)
We'll be like Elmer Fudd and be very quiet while hunting for good fantasy trades. Foster for CJ & Morris is a good trade for the Foster side, especially in a PPR.
Steven (Kingsport (Smokey Mountains))
Hola from the Smokies: I held CJ on your advice, just yelling in to say thank you.
KC Joyner (3:04 PM)
I just saw a video at Books a Million about the Smokey Mountains and almost picked it up just to enjoy the scenery. Glad that CJ advice worked, as his weeks 1-3 were enough to consider throwing in the towel.
James (A Giant Peach)
As League commish in a league with no veto system, we push all trades through immediately unless they are subject to collusion investigation
KC Joyner (3:05 PM)
One vote for pushing the pick through.
I can only start 2 of these guys and Ia??m torna?¦. Marshall (Back up QB), Decker (1 Point last week), Amendola (matched up with A Cromartie)a?¦. Talk to me KC
KC Joyner (3:05 PM)
Don't give up on Decker after one bad game. He's got a solid matchup this week and ranks 9th on the TFS start-sit WR charts.
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
Actually, Decker is 9th on the PPR charts and 6th on the standard scoring charts.
Sean (At work.... shhhhhhh.....)
I'd push the Thursday night players trade through, agreed.
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
collin1079 (west chester pa)
Who would you play this week Amendola vs Jets or Hartline vs Bills tonight? Thanks!
KC Joyner (3:06 PM)
Got Amendola rated higher.
Kris G (Indy)
Trades involving players in Thursday night games have to be the exception. Push it through, commish. It is the only fair thing to do.
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
Got three votes. No votes showing up yet for not pushing the trade through.
Dragons (Diablo (CA))
Hi KC,Steven Jackson finally had a breakout week, Do you see this continuing? I've heard reports that he has not been 100% but now after the bye he is feeling good. Do you think he will get the majority of the carries from now on? And if so would you trust him over the likes of a Marcel Reece?
KC Joyner (3:07 PM)
The Rams situation is still likely to be a lead/alternate carry division approach, but that still makes Jackson more valuable than a Reece.
Haystacks Calhoun (Morgans Corner)
Coming at you with a Big Splash, KC: AP is on a bye so I'm down to either R. Bush or "Row Your Boat" Leshoure at RB2 behind J. Charles. Matchup says Bush but after last week's benching and mediocre play from him for the better part of a month I'm leaning Leshoure in hopes of a shootout in Detroit. What says you?
KC Joyner (3:09 PM)
Now that's a blast from the past! He was a guy who you legitimately thought might break the ring if he fell on it the wrong way. Got Bush rated higher both for the matchup and because the Miami coaches are apt to give him a shot at redeeming himself after last week's fumble.
Id push it through also. How do you feel about mcgahee s jax andre johnson and torrey smith for megatron and lynch in a ppr?
KC Joyner (3:09 PM)
Four votes. Would rather have the Megatron side of that trade in a PPR.
TNF trade (my league)
as a commissioner myself... i would push it throug
KC Joyner (3:10 PM)
Five votes for, none against.
Rowdy Rowdy Piper (Only wrestler I know!)
Need bye week help, Ingram or Ivory please?!!
KC Joyner (3:11 PM)
If you only know one wrestler, Piper is a good one to know. His early WWF material and his Georgia wrestling material were like a 400-level course in heeldom. Toss up there, would probably go with Ivory.
Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)
Hey KC, who are some QB's I can look to trade Eli Manning for?
KC Joyner (3:13 PM)
Not many right now since he is on such a slump. Would suggest keeping him, as a week's break should get his arm back to normal and get him back to his usual point scoring pace.
What's your name (Staring at you)
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!! Kidding KC, kidding. Ryan Mathews is upsetting me. Send the pain in my neck and Colston and get the Real McCoy and Smithy in Carolina?
KC Joyner (3:14 PM)
To quote Foley - KNOW YOUR MOUTH AND SHUT YOUR ROLE!!! Probably wouldn't make that trade if only because McCoy and Smith are both in shaky situations that could fall apart down the stretch.
SD "Special Delivery" Jones (Squared Circle in the Sky)
Hey KC, I traded for Spiller in two leagues and I'm hoping he can carry me to a championship in both leagues. Do you expect him to finish as strong as he did last year, Jackson or no Jackson?
KC Joyner (3:15 PM)
Another great blast from the past. Saw SD Jones wrestle at the old Eddie Graham Sports Complex many years ago. I'm expecting Spiller to finish very strong even if Jackson returns, as Spiller is doing better in all areas of the game (he's got a pretty solid lead over Jackson in GBYPA).
James (A Giant Peach)
Despite a disappointing year, I'm still considering keeping Ryan Mathews as a 2nd round keeper for next year (was drafted in the 3rd, we lose a pick one round higher each year). Thoughts on this?
KC Joyner (3:16 PM)
In a vacuum, would say that Mathews is not worth a second round pick. It does depend on who else might be available, though.
Dragons (Diablo (CA))
Is it time to unload Percy Harvin before his tough schedule? And if so who should i target?
KC Joyner (3:17 PM)
Harvin's game is quite resistant to matchup difficulties, so that really shouldn't be a concern. His injury status should be, though, and that may make it hard to trade him. Aim for a WR1 and hope that the other owner looks past the injury concern.
Chief Jay Strong Bow (sunnyside gardens queens)
KC..do i wait and see on AHernandez or start Chandler tonight or wait and monitor situation and grab a Pitta late if necessary?
KC Joyner (3:18 PM)
A WWWF legend. Chandler doesn't offer that much value-wise, so wait on Hernandez and pick up Pitta late if Hernandez is a no-go.
Showtime (Not Eric Young) (Chicago)
Push it through!!!! What are your thoughts on playing "roster defense"....dropping depth to pick up better players at other positions you'll likely never start. Example: I have Ryan and Freeman on the roster, but Palmer is also available on waivers. Drop Rashad Jennings for Palmer to block another owner from grabbing him??
KC Joyner (3:20 PM)
Got no issue with roster defense, as the only owners who can do that are owners with strong rosters. They should be rewarded for their successful efforts. Regarding Palmer, he's a top 10 QB fantasy-point wise and yet is still available in about 1/3 of ESPN leagues. If he's available on waivers in anyone's league, pick him up right now.
Sting (the blonde one)
is MJD a lost cause even if he comes back the jags are so far out of it do they even play him?
KC Joyner (3:21 PM)
Classic Sting. He was the Ultimate Warrior, but with talent and charisma. Might consider MJD a lost cause at this point.
Phil Elliott (North Dallas Forty)
PPR ? = Have a WR dilemma here in Wk11...Need to start 1 out of this group--BMarsh @ 49ers with Campbell at QB, Amendola vs. Jets, OR Miles Austin vs. Browns? Thoughts? Thanks KC!
KC Joyner (3:22 PM)
Best football movie ever. I still laugh every time I watch it - it's that funny. Start Austin, as he has the fewest question marks out of that group (and because he ranks 9th on the standard scoring TFS WR start-sit charts).
KC Joyner (3:23 PM)
Hey, quick note on the start-sit charts - they are now available at a discounted price of $20 at www.thefootballscientist.com. Only site plug of the chat.
Tommy DeVito (Brooklyn, GoodFellas)
"One dog goes one way and the other goes the other."Consistency vs Upside, PPR Flex: Gates, Dez & Witten. Who Sits?
KC Joyner (3:24 PM)
Go get your shine box! Got Gates & Witten rated higher than Dez.
Ryan F. (Tulsa, OK) [via mobile]
Wow, surprised Austin ranks so high this wk. how does he compare to D. Moore's Saints matchup?
KC Joyner (3:25 PM)
Got a lot of faith in Austin. Moore rates 32nd, which means he's still a solid flex option in many leagues.
As a commish in multiple leagues I would not allow the trade, Rules are stated before the season and any changes made show inconsistency and could set a bad precedents.
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Finally have one vote against the trade.
So you disagree with Romo that Dez is finally "Getting it"?
KC Joyner (3:26 PM)
Not disagreeing at all - just saying that the other two rank higher in a PPR league. Dez still rates as a good flex pick this week.
I was offered Cam for Romo, what say you TFS?
KC Joyner (3:27 PM)
Don't like a lot of how Cam is playing right now and Romo has some highly favorable matchups down the stretch. Stick with Romo.
Is Decker enough in return for Harvin?
KC Joyner (3:28 PM)
Sure. Don't worry about last week's game, as that was an anomaly for Decker. Plus, Harvin is hurt and it is better to have a healthy player.
Fritz Von Erich (Inside my claw)
NON PPR, would you flex Reece or BJGE? Also, have Palmer and Vick, would you drop Vick for another backup, if available (Foles is not available, since SOMEONE just picked up about the last 4 available starting QBs)...
KC Joyner (3:29 PM)
Funny story is when Fritz put the claw on someone in real life that that person wasn't hurt at all (and even knocked Fritz down if memory serves correct). Flex BJGE. Dropping Vick for a quality backup would be a good move, as he might be out for a while.
Gorilla Monsoon (Upstairs)
Tough choices between Spiller, Rice and Ridley...who do you sit this week?
KC Joyner (3:31 PM)
Monsoon was a great announcer - he and Ventura were highly entertaining on the early WrestleManias. Sit Rice, as he has fallen off in many ways (check out this week's TFS ESPN Insider article on the Ravens for more info).
Dalton 3:16 (Open a can of Fitzpatrick)
Hey KC QB question for this weak and ROS. I've been riding with Fitzpatrick and Dalton all year as my QBs. It has worked out pretty good so far, 7-3 and tied for second place in my league. Who would you start this week and should I continue to ride this ride the rest of the way. Playoffs are wk 13-15 and they both have pretty nice schedules during that time.
KC Joyner (3:32 PM)
Not sure what that header means but it made me laugh! Got Dalton rated slightly higher this week. ROS it's probably Fitz because his schedule looks slightly better, but this may be a case of making week to week decisions rather than sticking with one starter all the time.
Are you still a believer that Mike Wallace is the best WR in the NFL? How come Schefter has said Wallace wont come near a Fitzgerald or Megatron contract on the open market?
KC Joyner (3:33 PM)
He's got the talent to be the best WR in the NFL but not when he is in a dink-dunk offense like the Steelers run. If Wallace finds his way to a team that goes vertical, he'll be a top 5 fantasy WR.
Philip Rivers (INT doghouse)
Do I play more like the 1st half me against last Denver meeting, or the 2nd half me this time around? Me or Freeman this week?
KC Joyner (3:34 PM)
I'm of the mindset Rivers will have a solid ROS but this week Freeman easily rates in front of him on the TFS start-sit charts.
Haystack Calhoun (Sorry for the interupt)
Just had to mention him. He was great.
KC Joyner (3:35 PM)
It's totally cool. I can just mention his name to my brother and he'll laugh at the memories of seeing a guy Calhoun's size move around the ring.
Weighs 170 (Benches 450)
Do you see Spiller getting 20 touches tonight or will the Bills continue to underuse him?
KC Joyner (3:36 PM)
Spiller should get 20-30 touches this week. He'll be a bell cow for once and it's why he rates 8th on the TFS RB start-sit charts.
Happy Birthday to Me ((Macho Man))
OOOHH YEAAAHH -- help me celebrate what would have been my 60th birthday today!! Just traded CJ1K, Flacco and Britt for RG3 and Mathews in my PPR keeper. I was hoping to ride the Palmer/Flacco combo into the playoffs but couldn't resist RG3's upside and Mathews' late-season schedule. Good move or did I sell low on CJ?
KC Joyner (3:38 PM)
Macho was great in that he could brawl, wrestle or fly around the ring with equal skill and could move between those styles with ease. Maybe my favorite in-ring wrestler ever. Hate to say it, you probably sold low on CJ but getting RG3 for Flacco may make the move worth it, at least as long as your team has some solid RBs.
Do you think Sproles is safe to use this weekend vs a porous Oakland defense? Or would you wait a week and go with Leshoure instead?
KC Joyner (3:39 PM)
The signs are pointing towards Sproles being a safe pick, so for the moment he'd be the option.
Tito "El Matador" Santana (Hall of Fame)
KC, Would Martin at 13 dollars or Charles at 32 dollars be a better keeping option?
KC Joyner (3:40 PM)
Assuming that's Doug Martin, he's hands down the better choice. Heck, he'd be better if the dollar values were reversed.
Big Bubba (Dusty Rhodes couldnt beat him!)
Heath Miller with a backup QB or Brandon Myers in a shootout?
KC Joyner (3:41 PM)
And Bubba couldn't catch Jim Cornette when he fell off of the scaffolding at Starrcade. Got Myers rated higher, especially now that it looks like he will be playing this week.
Is vick droppable? Id hate to drop him and see him go off the last few games
KC Joyner (3:42 PM)
Can't call him droppable just yet, but it depends on who he is being dropped for. Put it this way - he's probably got limited value at this point, so he's droppable in many situations.
Wrestler X ((NE))
Digging deep....Any confidence in Donald Jones tonight? ...He seems to be growing on Fitzpatrick!
KC Joyner (3:43 PM)
Jones has been playing solid of late but he does have a tough matchup. Got him rated 42nd on the WR start-sit charts, so he may not be the best option.
I have a pretty fraudulent 7-3 right now, with only the 6th most points, so I think I need to make a move to have a legit shot in postseason. Are you ok rolling with Palmer rest of season and trading Brady and Rudolph for Graham (PPR league, and this is only team with bad QB situation and doesn;t have a good RB1 to deal for)
KC Joyner (3:44 PM)
The upgrade Graham gives at TE should more than make up for the point loss that could happen with Brady. Make the move.
You just said MJD may be a lost cause. Didn't you list him as a trade target for the playoffs in your recent column?
KC Joyner (3:45 PM)
That was before some of the injury updates that have come out this week. It's starting to look like MJD might be out for a while longer and there could be a concern he'll be shut down. If he's not shut down, he's still a good pick for the fantasy postseason, but those odds may be diminishing.
Ordered your start/sit charts. It never asked where I wanted them emailed to. How do I fix this?
KC Joyner (3:46 PM)
They are normally sent to the email the order was placed through. If a different email works better, just send me a quick email with the correct address and I'll send them over right after the chat.
I admit that I'll keep asking about Denarius Moore vs. Hakeem Nicks. :-) Just trying to sort out your love for Nicks as a "buy low" candidate vs. Nicks as a comparable to Moore in a PPR league.
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
My kids are going to laugh when I tell them about that headline! My youngest can't stand CM Punk and likes Ryback accordingly. I just upgraded Moore to a green rating but even with that upgrade he still ranks 24th on the WR PPR charts. Nicks would normally rate higher than that but the gap between them could be closing quickly.
KC Joyner (3:48 PM)
And, side note, CM Punk's DVD is one of the best WWE DVDs ever produced.
Fantasy Chat Monitor (Office Chair)
What's worse: participating in every chat and never getting a question answered or participating in every chat and seeing the exact same questions asked and answered in multiple chats? I guess it's better to be lucky than good?
KC Joyner (3:50 PM)
I've said it dozens of times and will say it again - humor will get just about any question placed at the top of the question list. That and keeping the questions relatively short (i.e. don't ask five questions, write multiple paragraphs, etc.) are the keys to getting questions posted.
Dez owner here. Should I be afraid of Haden this weekend?
KC Joyner (3:51 PM)
Not really. He's a solid CB but can be beaten.
Do offer ROS analysis on your site as well? Or just weekly sit/start?
KC Joyner (3:52 PM)
The start-sit service includes a season-long matchup analysis that is quite helpful in determining ROS value.
waiting to leave work (in my cube)
Daniel Thomas or Darren Sproles this week? Want to make sure Sproles is healthy before putting him in my line-up, but Thomas does have a great match-up.
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
It's a tough call but unless something showed up today that say Sproles had a setback (he was looking to be on target to play as of yesterday), he'd be the pick.
Wahoo McDaniels (TX)
Drop Donald Brown for Mendy ? (someone dropped him in my 12 team league).
KC Joyner (3:53 PM)
Farooq (DAMN!) (DAMN!)
DAMN! Real quick: Matt Stafford and Charles or Palmer and Lynch?
KC Joyner (3:54 PM)
I'm hoping Mrs. Scientist gets me one of those DAMN! t-shirts for Christmas. Palmer and Lynch, as it's hard to trust that Chiefs offense.
The Big Show (Taller than you)
Would you consider a V-Jax and Tate offer better than a V-Jax and F-Jax or James Jones offer when trying to get Charles from the Foster owner? Wordy question, I know.
KC Joyner (3:56 PM)
Or as my kids call him, The Big Slow (ht to The Rock). Tate would probably be the best trade option in that he has been injured. Same could be said for F-Jax, though, so it's really a toss up there.
Jerry Lawler (The King!)
Buzzer Beater: Mathews or Reece at flex? standard settings
KC Joyner (3:57 PM)
It was great to see The King back at Raw this week. His autobiography was the best wrestling autobiography ever. Got Mathews rated higher, although it is caveated by his potential injury status.
Bruno Samatino (Grave)
Tanny or Foles ??
KC Joyner (3:58 PM)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Bruno Sammartino is dead yet. Tannehill rates a bit higher than Foles.
Daniel Craig (2nd best James Bond)
James Jones worth a start over either Wallace or Dez? Looking at a possible Bond movie style shootout with GB vs. DET
KC Joyner (4:00 PM)
Mrs. Scientist might say Craig is the best Bond ever - she definitely gives him the nod looks-wise. Jones gets the nod over Wallace and Dez this week on the start-sit charts.
I agree with the against vote. Both sides knew there is a two-day processing period so if they wanted it done by Thursday, they should have traded on Tuesday. It's the rule. By the way, would you play Peyton Manning or A. Luck? Thank you.
KC Joyner (4:01 PM)
Two votes against the deal. Might leave it up to the owners to vote on it. Manning rates just a bit higher than Luck.
The Undertaker (Hades)
Carson Palmer has been great lately. Should I trade Matt Ryan for a RB/WR upgrade and ride Palmer through the playoffs?
KC Joyner (4:02 PM)
As long as the upgrade is significant, make the trade.
WWE Timekeeper (1 before the Bell Rings)
KC better 2 non ppr options in week 11: Felix,Mendy or reece? Thanks
KC Joyner (4:04 PM)
Gotta get this in before that bell rings! Mendenhall rates first in that group and the other two are toss ups. Would probably say to start Reece as long as it is clear that Murray is back and ready to go for Dallas.
KC Joyner (4:07 PM)
That was a really fun hour of questions! Got a couple of items before heading out. First, the TFS material is always posted on Twitter @KCJoynerTFS. Got an invite this week to appear on the Fantasy Focus podcast with Nate Ravitz - check it out - http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=8630776. The weekly Blindsided podcast talks about AP, Eli and CFB - http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/blog/_/name/insider_premium_audio/id/8628164/insider-premium-audio-heisman-mvp-talk. And, as noted before, the start-sit charts can be purchased at www.thefootballscientist.com. Thanks for the questions and I hope to see you all here next week!
