Ian Begley (12:12 PM)
Hey, What's up guys, sorry for the delay here. Hope everybody is doing well. Training camp starts in a few weeks and there is plenty to talk about, so let's get to it
Rashawn(brooklyn) [via mobile]
if everyone is healthy how far do you see the knicks going
Ian Begley (12:14 PM)
If everyone remains healthy, I think the Knicks can be a better team than they were last season. But the rest of the East has improved as well. I think the Knicks can reach the conference finals if they remain healthy and avoid Miami in the first two rounds of the playoffs. But everything needs to break right, I think, for that to happen

Who do u see getting cut and Knicks future signings
Ian Begley (12:15 PM)
The Knicks have a ton of guards and need a couple bigs so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the guards on non-guaranteed contracts didn't make the final roster and the Knicks picked up a backup center, like Cole Aldrich or Earl Barron -- someone in that mold.
Did the knicks attempt to sign Michael Beasley or would that be to many knuckleheads in the locker room>
Ian Begley (12:16 PM)
Hey Davis, I have not heard about any attempt by the Knicks to sign Beasley. It would surprise me if they had any interest. They don't have a need at his position and he has had a history of off-court issues that they probably don't want to deal with.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
How do you think that Tim Hardaway Jr. will do with the Knicks?
Ian Begley (12:19 PM)
Hey Chris, I think if they put him in the right position, he will succeed. They key, I think, is to avoid putting too much on his plate right away. That's going to be tough because they need him to step in for J.R. Smith during his suspension/injury. It should be interesting to see how Tim is used early on. I think, overall, he will be a nice fit.
Max (Sparta) [via mobile]
Any chance the knicks cut murry
Ian Begley (12:22 PM)
Hey Max, The Knicks like Murry a lot, I think. But they already have three point guards and a few players who can play off guard. So it seems like he'd be a candidate to get cut. But, the Knicks may want to keep a few young players to develop at the end of the roster and Murry may be one of those players.
Stuart (Brooklyn, NY)
Who do you think was a better all-around player, Earl "the Pearl" Monroe or Walt "Clyde" Frazier?
Ian Begley (12:23 PM)
Extremely tough call Stuart, especially because both of those guys were before my time, but I'd say Earl. How about you?
Les (East Windsor, NJ)
Do u see any chance, @ the next labor negotiation, that there will be a push for a 70 game reg season sked, which makes so much sense?
Ian Begley (12:24 PM)
Hey Les, I think with the success of the 66-game season during the lockout, this idea will have some support. Getting it pushed though is another story because of the logistics involved. We'll see.
Ian - big fan of the chats Jared and you are doing. Two questions - do you think the Knicks will fine JR Smith internally for the recent 5 game penalty; why didn't the team take a chance on Fab Melo - seems like all other "big" options available at the moment for picking up are not great.
Ian Begley (12:27 PM)
Thanks a lot Nikolay, I appreciate the kind words. I don't think the Knicks will level any internal fines on JR. He was docked 252,000 by the league. I don't know if they had any serious interest in Fab, but I agree, he would have been a good addition. He'd be a low-risk, high reward option at center
How is andrea's health? i predict a huge year from him, but worried that he's fallen behind with his illness
Ian Begley (12:28 PM)
Hey Jason, Good question. I have heard that the Knicks expect Andrea in camp and ready to play. I'm not sure of his physical condition after battling the pneumonia. We'll find out at the end of the month.
What happened to signing Hamed Haddadi? Are talks between us and Haddadi still happening?
Ian Begley (12:29 PM)
Hey Jeremy, Haddadi may get a camp invite but I don't think they are going to outright sign him before camp.
Derrick (Schenectady, NY)
Who has the edge for starting PG (Prigioni or Felton) and PF (Bargnani or Stoudermire)?
Ian Begley (12:30 PM)
Hey Derrick, I think Felton and Bargnani have the edge, though Woodson may go with a two point guard lineup with Prigioni and Felton sharing the backcourt.
Are you going to watch the Mayweather-Canelo fight on Saturday night?
Ian Begley (12:30 PM)
Ha. I wish. I think I'll have to wait for the replay on Showtime.
Whatever happened to Hamed Haddadi? It sounded like we were gonna sign him?
Ian Begley (12:31 PM)
Hey Ricky, Hamed worked out for the Knicks but I think they are keeping their option open for now. He may get a training camp invite.
Adam (Albany, NY)
Who has the edge on the starting point guard job? I think Prigioni brings more defensively than Felton but what's the latest?
Ian Begley (12:32 PM)
Hey Adam, If Woodson goes with a traditional, one point guard lineup, then I'd say Felton will start. But Woodson could go with a two point guard starting lineup, especially because the Knicks have Beno Udrih in the fold.
Ian Begley (12:36 PM)
Hey guys, Thanks a lot for coming by. It was great chatting with you, as always. Talk to you soon.
