Nick Friedell (12:32 PM)
What's going on everybody? I'm coming at you live from the United Center. Let's get this chat rolling ...
Bobby T (Morton Grove,IL)
Hey Nick.. Do you see the Bulls trading Taj and a 1st round pick for Stephen Jackson??
Nick Friedell (12:32 PM)
Daniel Baez Jr (Woodridge, IL)
What's up Nick. Love reading your blogs, and the way you cover the Bulls. Great Stuff!! My question for you is do you think the Bulls need to implement Kyle Korver more into the offense, and get him more shots. To give the bulls that fire power off the bench. I just feel that coach thibs needs to use Korver, just as Boston uses Ray Allen.
Nick Friedell (12:35 PM)
Daniel, Appreciate the kind words. As for Korver, I think Rose is always trying to find him more shots on the floor. I just don't think Thibs trusts him defensively still -- at least enough to play him big time minutes. I'm sure Korver will be in late in games if the Bulls need an offensive jolt. Thibs and Rose will find a way to get him the ball.
Happy New Year Nick! I had a dream last night that the Bulls made a trade for Stephen Jackson. I love Jackson's 3 point ability, athleticism, being able to lock down on the defensive end, and just his out right toughness factor. What are the chances of this dream coming true with Jackson or any of the other rumored names out there?
Nick Friedell (12:38 PM)
Joe, You had a dream about Stephen Jackson? HA. I don't think your dream is coming true right now. The Bulls would probably like to have him, but I don't see them bringing in his contract. Especially since he'll be 33 in a couple months.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
When will we see the Chicago Bulls be the NBA Champions without Michael Jordan? Happy New Year!!
Nick Friedell (12:39 PM)
Chris, Happy New Year. You are definitely persistent. You send me the same question every week. To answer your question, it won't be this year. But the Bulls are on the right track.
Hi Nick- after reading your article about the Bulls' offense, I am a bit concerned that Thibs is not taking an active enough role in that aspect of the team. Do you think this is contributing to the long scoreless stretches the Bulls seem to go through most games?
Nick Friedell (12:42 PM)
I don't think so. I just think that he is giving Derrick more freedom. The reason the Bulls are still having major scoring droughts during games is because they don't play with consistent energy, not because of a lack of activity from Thibs.
i need trades!!
Nick Friedell (12:43 PM)
This sounds like pretty much every Bulls fan I meet these days.
Nate (New York)
when will noah be back
Nick Friedell (12:45 PM)
The end of February is what the Bulls are hoping for.
Happy New Year Nick (Well Almost),With KG out, and Boston appearing injury prone, is top two seed possible now for the Bulls?
Nick Friedell (12:46 PM)
I don't think so. I still think Orlando and Miami are better than the Bulls, but we'll see. Having home court advantage would really, really help this team.
Deng seems to have huge games when he is slashing to the basket and getting feeds from Rose. But more often than not he just settles for 18 foot jump shots and is often stagnent. Why?
Nick Friedell (12:49 PM)
You're asking a question that people have asked his entire career. The answer is that nobody knows but Luol. I know that he wants to get involved a lot earlier in games and he knows he has to drive to the basket more. If he drives more consistently he will average 20 points a game with Noah out.
Sarah P (Alaska)
How many wins do you think the Bulls will end up with this year?
Nick Friedell (12:51 PM)
50. I said it before the season started and I'm sticking to that.
So, you said that every Bulls fan you meet is asking you about trade possibilities. What is your honest opinion on what actually will be done, or is the 3 headed rotation at the 2 going to be what continues to happen?
Nick Friedell (12:56 PM)
My guess is that the Bulls make a move before the deadline for a two guard. They don't have much to offer though, and they really don't want to give up Taj, so their options are limited. Who will they get? It's anyone's guess. I don't think they want to bring a high priced contract though, which knocks out Rip Hamilton and Stephen Jackson. They like Mayo, Courtney Lee, etc., but I don't know if those guys are available. I think they may end up with someone like Quentin Richardson or Anthony Parker. But again, only time will tell.
Nate (Champaign, IL)
Why is Rondo ahead of D Rose in the all star voting? I know Rose says he just wants to be on the team, but as someone a lot of people are seriously considering for MVP shouldn't he at least be in second behind D Wade?
Nick Friedell (12:59 PM)
More people are coming out to vote in Boston? Rose is going to be in the game. He'll be a starter at some point soon. I know he'd like to start, but he knows his time will come.
I dont really think the bulls need to trade anyone...I have noticed that rose plays well with CJ, is there any talk about him being the starting 2 guard??
Nick Friedell (1:02 PM)
I have no doubt Thibs has at least thought about it, but he is loyal to Bogans. Bogans is staying in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future. Sorry, Bulls fans. That's just the way it is.
Can the bulls go 52-0 the rest of the way to tie their own record?
Nick Friedell (1:02 PM)
How many PBR's have you had today?
hey, nick. love reading your blogs. i am wondering why the bulls dont put CJ at the 2 with Derrick more often? is it because they are undersized? and is Arron Affalo another option for the bulls at the 2? And do you see the bulls making a trade before the deadline? thanks
Nick Friedell (1:08 PM)
Chris, I appreciate it. As far as CJ playing with Derrick more, it seems like Thibs only wants to use that lineup when the Bulls are struggling for offense. I think he wants more size out there regularly so that's why he doesn't use those two together more. And yes, I think the Bulls will make a deal before the deadline.
Fitz (Sadly my cube)
I know D Rose is listed at 6'3" but got into an argument with my buddy JT about how tall he really is. You are next to him all the time what is his real height?
Nick Friedell (1:10 PM)
HEY NICK, WHY DONT THE BULLS CONTINUE TO PURSUE ANTHONY DANGLING TAJ GIBSON, LOUL DENG AND FUTURE PICKS. I THINK HE WOULD LIKE THE BULLS OVER THE NETS AND MIGHT SIGN THE EXTENTION BECAUSE OF THE NEW LEAGUE BARGANING AGREEMENT. NEWYORK CANT OFFER THE FIRST ROUNDERS CHICAGO HAVE.
Nick Friedell (1:11 PM)
I'VE ALWAYS BELIEVED MELO WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE KNICKS. I THINK THAT'S THE ONLY PLACE HE WANTS TO GO.
WHY IS TAJ OFF LIMITS HE IS A UNDERSIZE 4 WHO IS 26 ON A ROOKIE CONTRACT DO YOU BELIEVE THE BULLS WILL BE ABLE TO AFFORD HIM ANYWAY? SO WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER TO GET A YOUNG 2 WHO COULD SHARE THE BACK COURT WITH ROSE FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS?
Nick Friedell (1:13 PM)
Man, what's with the caps lock today? Taj isn't off limits, the Bulls would just have a hard time trading him. They like him a lot. If the right deal comes up though, they will have to pull the trigger on it.
Is there any way the Bulls get Carmelo?
Nick Friedell (1:15 PM)
And that's the cue ... Melo isn't coming here right now, guys. Sorry.
Nick Friedell (1:16 PM)
HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR'S. I WILL TALK TO YOU ALL NEXT WEEK. IF YOU'RE AT ANY OF THE GAMES THIS WEEK COME OVER AND SAY HELLO.
