Jurko (1:04 PM)
Good win by the Bears. Defense concerns me a little going against the Packers. Green Bay getting embarrassed by SF worries me a smidge, too. All in all I see the Bears finding a way to squeak out a victory. Welcome and let's go.
Mike (Great White North)
Thanks for your time. I love your chat session. Management has finally taken the steps to surround Cutler with a support team, which was needed. He is their largest investment. My question is, do you see #6 maturing and elevating his game to that elite level critics pine over this season??
Jurko (1:06 PM)
I see the maturity level coming when they got rid of Kreutz, and that was Cutler's doing, people. Taking ownership of the offense. And understanding the WR position needed to be upgraded and realizing his OC last year was overmatched. This year Cutler is headed in the right direction.
Owen (Virginia)
The key for this game too me at least is keeping Rogers off the field. I think its time for Forte to have a monster game. You think Forte will get 100+ yards?
Jurko (1:07 PM)
I think Forte will get 120 combined yards, like he did last week. And the key is pressuring Rodgers, which SF did last week.
Brandon (Omaha)
How many catches will Brandon Marshall have against this less than stellar Packer defense?
Jurko (1:08 PM)
11 for 153 and 3 TDs.
Shawn (NW Indiana)
I was at the game and I watched J'Marcus Webb and I thought he played really well even when Freeney was in the game. Were you impressed by the OL?
Jurko (1:08 PM)
I was not impressed early, but the fact you didn't hear Webb's name was a good indication he played well.
Mike (Downtown)
The Bears have played the Packers pretty tight the last few seasons with NO passing game. Does this new passing game put them over the top this year?
Jurko (1:09 PM)
It most certainly does. The offenses will be competing against the offenses.
Conrad (Wpg, Mb, Canada)
I want to be a confident Bears fan that goes into this game with the Packers feeling like the Bears are going to win. I am nervous, Jurko tell me I should not be nervous about this team.
Jurko (1:10 PM)
You should be jittery, period, because the Packers were embarrassed at home, but I think the Bears offense will be able to overcome. Anything from special teams and D is a bonus.
Dashon (Texas)
Will The Bears unleash the Devin Hester Package tomorrow?
Jurko (1:10 PM)
I hope not. Four receiver is where he belongs, target him five times a game.
Will Wright (Texas)
Will the Bears utilize more power running formations against a run challenged Green Bay Defense?
Jurko (1:11 PM)
I think they'll try to get a man on Matthews. Nothing that is a long developing play like a counter OT or counter OF where backside speed can catch the play.
Bruce (Gotham)
Rogers has been in the league much longer than Luck and has played the bears D numerous times, if Luck was able to shred the bears for over 300yds without the knowledge of how to beat the cover 2, I think rogers will have a field day and I also think the savvy rogers will test urlacher much more than luck did, what are your thoughts on this and who do you think will win the game?
Jurko (1:12 PM)
First of all, Luck did not shred anything. He threw for yardage because with the lead the Bears were playing a softer D than normal. If you watched the Packers game, Rodgers had happy feet. And that's not a good sign for GB fans.
Tim (Georgia)
If I eat one piece of pizza for each point da Bears score tomorrow night up in Green Bay, how many pizzas will I have eaten by the end of the game?
Jurko (1:13 PM)
If you slice your pie in 8 pieces, you better buy 4 pies.
Dre (Texas)
Will Bears play more man to man on the outside Green Bay recievers vs Cover 2?
Jurko (1:13 PM)
I think you'll get a mix and they'll try to disquise what they're doing presnap. Time for Julius Peppers to make his money.
Pirate Teacher (Merrillville)
Was the throw to Alshon the best of the week?
Jurko (1:14 PM)
It was Cutler's best throw.
TheDano (Mankato, MN)
Do Bear fans realize it's Aaron Rodgers, not Rogers?
Jurko (1:14 PM)
We do, and thank you. You Packers fans realize it's Urlacher, rhymes with linebacker?
Elliott (Champaign)
The Packers Dbs are used to bullying the old smurf squad receivers the Bears had with press coverage. Is pay back time now that we have a 6'5 and a 6'3 receiver starting for us?
Jurko (1:15 PM)
Hell has come to Lambeau and it's going to be in the form of Nos. 15 and 17, and the people in the corners of the end zones are going to get tired of seeing those two.
TheDano (Mankato, MN)
What's Tillman's status? Is he a go or no go for THURS?
Jurko (1:15 PM)
Right now he's a no-go. But I believe in miracles. I'm guessing he won't play, you'll see Hayden. And if he does play, I have a feeling he'll tweak it and be out.
Larry (Illinois)
Do you see a pattern of Lovie Smith pulling Urlacher out when the bears are ahead by 20+ by third quarter to ensure he is healthy.
Jurko (1:16 PM)
I think they did it specifically for a Thursday night game. You may see it in a Monday nighter, because of the short week.
Brandon (St George UT)
The Niners got a lot of their pressure off of blitzing! Do you see the bears sending extra men or do you see Rod and Lovie continuing the four man rush?
Jurko (1:17 PM)
I see an eclectic mix of the two, but if the four-man rush is working, why change.
Gerry (Des Plaines)
Does Urlacher play this week? If he does, is he more effective than last week?
Jurko (1:18 PM)
I think he will play, and it's hard to be less effective than he was last week. But he's like a security blanket for the rest of the defense, and their minds are right when 54 is back there.
zach w. (iowa city, iowa.)
Do you see tim jennings having another big game on Thursday?
Jurko (1:18 PM)
I like the way he plays. At the CB position you get tested every play, and your grade is pass/fail. No inbetween. You either do your job of fail miserably. Have to have a short memory, and I think he has that.
Pirate Teacher (Merrillville)
How's your golf game this time of year?
Jurko (1:20 PM)
Heading down to Ponte Vedra at the end of Sept. going to play Sawgrass. I'm getting good work in with the belly chipper. They tell me it's illegal, but why would they make something illegal taht lets me enjoy the game so much.
sneed (baltimore) [via mobile]
I'm not a big fan of cutler and marshall pretty much calling out the packers defensive backs. Do you see the packers struggling with marshall and jeffrey in bump and run coverage?
Jurko (1:21 PM)
One of the most intimidating things that ever happened to me on the field is when I knew what play was coming and I could nothing to stop it because of the skill of the other team. Cutler and Marshall are that good, embrace it.
Jim (Boston)
I liked how they moved Peppers around a little bit. Can we expect to see more of that and who would the favorable match up be against along that Packers Oline?
Jurko (1:22 PM)
Like Marlon Perkins once said, seek out the weak and the injured. I'd love to see him line up over the center, the old cranky Jeff Saturday. Line him up everywhere, forces everyone on that line to worry about where he is at, and then the OL has to communicate and will tell which way the slide is going. This will help the DL.
Ryan (Moline, IL)
How well do you think the Bears will pass protect against the Pack? I think if they can stay under 3 sacks allowed, they will win the game easily.
Jurko (1:24 PM)
They had 4 sacks last week, Clay had 2 1/2 and he's going to cause Webb some fits, and Woodson had 1 1/2 coming off the corner. If they can hold them to 2 I think it will be very successful, more importantly stop them from having pressure. Packers have to be careful, can't blitz too often because even if Marshall is covered he can still beat them.
Dan (Chicago)
What would you say is the biggest weakness on this Bears team?
Jurko (1:24 PM)
Tight end. It's bad because Kellen Davis for one reason or another decided he doesn't want to be a player. Has all the tools but have to make a decision and he decided to be average.
Brian (Loop)
Bigger Problem for Thursday: Hobbled Urlacher or hobbled Tillman? Also, which receiver or tight-end do you think poses the biggest match-up concern for the bears secondary?
Jurko (1:25 PM)
Hobbled Tillman because there's a chance he won't play. Finley does, caught 3 TDs at Soldier Field and was wide open.
Mike (Green Bay)
What's your prediction for Cutler's stat line?
Jurko (1:25 PM)
24-33, 364, 4 Tds and 1 pick.
Tom (Chicago)
Good kid- going on the road inside the division isn't easy- playing a team desperate to avoid starting 0-2 even harder. I expect the Packers will win- you agree?
Jurko (1:26 PM)
Disagree. Goign on the road to win in the division is difficult but not impossible. I think this offense is good and because of that the Bears will win 31-30.
Joe T. (Yokosuka, Japan)
What is your grade on the offensive line after game 1, and do you think they will have success against Green Bay? BEAR DOWN!!
Jurko (1:27 PM)
I gave them a B- after Game 1. First two series they totally spit the bit and Freeney was out for a good portion of the game.
John (New Buffalo) [via mobile]
Do you think we steal a win up in lambeau if we hold rodgers and the packers offense to 24 points
Jurko (1:27 PM)
Absolutely.
Uzair (Chicago)
Jurko - What's up with GB? Have defenses figured them out since they have been running the same offense for three years now?
Jurko (1:28 PM)
When a team finds something that works against you, every other team is looking at it and will try to do the same. Looks to me like SF was playing quarters, and they were ready to break up on everything. So if a team wants to play quarters against you, to me you have to go vertical and attack it athat way.
Ramon I (Berwyn IL)
Bears let the Packers run for 100 yards last year in the first game will that happen again with Benson?
Jurko (1:29 PM)
I don't think it matters if it does or doesn't. I don't think the Packers will be running a ton because the Bears will take an early lead and build on the lead, forcing GB to move the ball via the air.
Izzy (NJ)
How much Shea will we see?
Jurko (1:30 PM)
20 plays, bigger the lead more you'll see. He had some nice spin moves last week. Now they'll see that on film and teams will set on that.
Mike (Green Bay)
Do you think the Packers will try to take away Marshall completely, leaving opportunities for Jeffery, Bennett, and Hester? Which Bears receiver will have the biggest game?
Jurko (1:31 PM)
I think it will be Marshall with receptions and Bennett with yardage.
Jurko (1:31 PM)
Bears win 31-30 in a close contest. Packers make a late run but fall short. See you next week, and thanks for the great questions.
