Jurko (1:00 PM)
They had a great defensive effort against the Lions. They dodged a scare with Cutler coming back. Now it's time to put Chico out of his misery. Bears!
John (Rochelle, IL.)
The Bears are favored heavily Sunday, but do you see any part of the Panthers squad, or game plan that could creep up on the Bears, and possibly turn this game around?
Jurko (1:02 PM)
If they run the ball well and you can't account for the athleticism of Newton. Bounces can be goofy and you have a ball that you think is a TD but is not a TD ... but I don't think you will catch them napping.
If Jay Cutler takes a shot to the ribs this week and has to come out, what kind of confidence do you have in Jason Campbell?
Jurko (1:03 PM)
I think he's OK and I think what they will do this week is give him a few more reps. Then I think Campbell will realize that he really has to prepare because he came in cold and you fall into a false sense of security that Cutler won't get hurt. Backups need to keep themselves on edge and be ready to play.
Is Gabe Carimi currently the weakest link on the offensive line?
Jurko (1:04 PM)
I worry for Carimi's continued health only because the rate of attrition in the NFL is great. Surviving a season is tough especially if you're coming back from an injury. Right now he is the weakest link.
Mike (Great White North)
Lance Louis is a beast. Me thinks he is the best offensive lineman for the squad. Your thoughts?
Jurko (1:05 PM)
I think they really like what they have in Louis at guard. Last year they tried to play him at tackle with mixed results. I like him at guard. He's flourished.
What can we make from Hester loosing punt return and kick off duties late in the game? Was this due to Hester taking more snaps at WR or replacement due to ineffectiveness lately?
Jurko (1:05 PM)
He was playing a lot of offensive plays and he was fatigued. Still doesn't excuse his inability to field the punt and let the ball bounce.
Neil Ludwig, Kalamazoo MI [via mobile]
Do u think Cutler and Mike Tice wish Greg Olsen was still playing for the other team?
Jurko (1:06 PM)
No. Half of Greg Olsen is Brandon Marshall. He was traded to Carolina and one of those draft choices was used to get Marshall so I have zero regrets.
Whats up Good Kid! Do you think the Bears D-Line will rush Cam Newton like the Bears have been rushing all year? Or will they lay back and keep him inside the pocket so he doesn't scramble around? Especially with Urlacher not 100%...
Jurko (1:07 PM)
I think they will have guys rushing and they will have a spy.
Were critics wrong when everyone (including myself) scratched their head at the Shea McClellin pick? He looks like he can play!
Jurko (1:07 PM)
He can play and he's pretty good as a pass-rushing defensive end. There is still a question about his ability to take on a big OT.
Mike (Great White North)
Why are we not utilizing Forte more in the passing game this season?
Jurko (1:08 PM)
Marshall and some other WRs are getting open. Before last year Cutler didn't trust anybody but now these guys are getting open, especially Marshall.
Everett W (Dallas, TX)
I have Jay Cutler as a top ten QB in the NFL. My friends in Dallas called me a homer (ironic, I know) and tell me he isn't in the top twenty. Where does Jay fall right now in the NFL QB Rankings?
Jurko (1:09 PM)
Somewhere between 9-12. Maybe 8-12.
ryan (chi til i die)
Should we expect to see J. Campbell get some reps if the Bears are up big? I for one, would like to see him in action. Not to mention, game reps are a much better indicator than practice reps.
Jurko (1:10 PM)
Yes. You will see him get reps if they are up big.
Derek W. (Roselle, IL) [via mobile]
Do you think B. Marsh should maybe calm down with his opinions on Twitter? Lovie, Cutty, and the rest of the team thought Suh's was a nasty (but legal) sack. Marshall seems to be the only upset one with it. If Peppers made the same move on Stafford, Im sure he would have been fine w/ it.
Jurko (1:11 PM)
Brandon is entitled to his opinion and he's protecting his guy. His ability to get receptions is solely dependent on Cutler's ability to stay healthy. Besides Chicago, Marshall has the most to lose if Cutler goes down with an injury.
Robledo (Fox Lake) [via mobile]
Have teams figured out Devin Hester, have the Bears' blockers been below adequate, or is Devin Hester not the return man he once was?
Jurko (1:12 PM)
I think the blocking isn't as good as it needs to be and I think Devin is disinterested in being the returns guy. He will get paid for receptions and the bonuses in his contract for that haven't kicked in so that might lead to a disheartening effort in the return game.
Mike (Leesburg, VA)
Do you think Mike Tice is doing a good enough job as the Offensive coordinator?
Jurko (1:14 PM)
I think he is learning on the job. I think it's going to be better as time goes on. He will be judged by the whole year not the first six games.
How long until we start hearing Tillman for MVP talks?
Jurko (1:15 PM)
Long time. He's having the best year in a Bears uniform but it's a long way away from being MVP. He'd have to have like 14 picks. That's not happening. It's not like we haven't seen the ball-punch act before.
jesse (peoria il)
left guard Rachal seemed to be a beast against the lions. It was rare that he was beat, and seemed to really block and move people at will. What do you think about his future?
Jurko (1:16 PM)
I like the fact that he's got fire and I'd rather have my QB have to settle him down than pump him up. He looks like a keeper but I need to see a bigger body of work.
Do the Bears have the best secondary in the NFL? Tillman is making a very strong case for defensive player of the year and at the very least our second corner to earn defensive player of the month.
Jurko (1:17 PM)
No. Stop. Let's not even talk about it like that. They have CBs playing at a high level and safeties who aren't getting beat deep. Let's not get crazy. They are playing well. Best in the NFL? No way
The Bears really haven't played against a dual-threat QB this year. Any way Cam Newton somehow breaks out of his slump this weekend?
Jurko (1:19 PM)
I hope he waits at least one more week. Smith is a good WR, but this team was supposed to be able to run the ball and they haven't. If they attack the Bears in the air, the Bears will be alright. If they can run the ball they might have a chance.
Everett W (Dallas, TX)
First and goal from the three yard line. I would run the ball four times with the best goal line back in the league in Michael Bush. Was that too obvious for Mike Tice or was he trying to spoon feed his stars in the red zone?
Jurko (1:21 PM)
I think he was trying to placate Jay and Brandon. Simply enough I'd just throw the ball in the air. You'll get a TD or interference call. Marshall has about six inches on the guy.
Jimmy (Waukesha, WI )
Do you split the carries between Forte and Bush this week to keep Forte healthy, he looked like he was limping a couple of times on Monday.
Jurko (1:22 PM)
I wouldn't split it. I think forte should get 65 percent and the rest to Bush.
Pat (Austin TX)
I was amazed to see Zach Bowman have such immediate impact on special teams. Have we lost the key players that were the blockers to help Hester out on the return game?
Jurko (1:23 PM)
So far this is J Cutlers lowest completion percentage of his career. With him having his best receiving corps why do you think that is?
Jurko (1:24 PM)
I think because he has so much trust he's trying to fit balls in where they shouldn't go. The Green Bay game and his sore ribs on Monday played into it. But let this thing play out and then judge.
josh littledyke Boise Idaho [via mobile]
I would like to see the bears use shea a bit more this week and rush three and drop him back into coverage and as a spy on newton in case he gets out of the pocket. Josh from boise..
Jurko (1:25 PM)
I think him as a spy would be great if you rush three. You're hoping that Newton forces the ball up.
Mike (Roanoke, VA)
How do you see the Bears finishing the season?
Jurko (1:25 PM)
I predicted 1-5 at the beginning and I'll stick with that
Al (Downers Grove)
Are people going to talk more about Culter's toughness than his attitude now?
Jurko (1:26 PM)
Cutler has been taking a beating a couple times and bounced back but you still have detractors.
Helen Wright (Grenada)
Does Phil Emery pull a hat out the bag and snag Dwayne Bowe from a struggling Chiefs franchise who is sinking fast
Jurko (1:27 PM)
I don't think that's what he wants. He doesn't want t ogive up picks. He's probably going to end up being franchised so I don't think they want t ogive up picks. They have their other big WR in Jeffery.
Joe (NC) [via mobile]
Why aren't the bears getting any respect from the national media?
Jurko (1:28 PM)
Because of the GB game. They saw a lack of protection and enough things to be skeptical about.
Hey Jurko love your work keep it up. Just wondering what do you think is going on with our offense they just cant seem to get in sink they started out strong then it all started going down hill, three and outs. Ur thoughts?
Jurko (1:29 PM)
I think they are just not timing out well. Tice is getting a feel for it. He's calling a screen when they know he's going t ocall a screen. He will develop the feel.
Jurko (1:29 PM)
Should be a great week for the Bears. Keep Cutler healthy. That's the important thing. Bears!
