Nick Friedell (2:13 PM)
What's going on everybody? Sorry I'm late -- just watching the intros at Wrigley. Always cool even though the team stinks.
Nick Friedell (2:13 PM)
Let's get this chat rolling ...
Nick! How come to the Tokomotive does not play? He seems like he has potential to crack the rotation due to his athleticism
Nick Friedell (2:15 PM)
Tim (Des Plaines)
If the Bulls brought on Brewer or James would they be able to play in the playoffs?

IF THE BULLS DONT GET MELO SHOULD THEY TRY TO GET LUOL DENG BACK
Nick Friedell (2:19 PM)
He isn't going to make them that much better. Look what they've done without him.
brad (sioux falls)
y the release of murphy was he just not a good fit?
Nick Friedell (2:20 PM)
Thibs says it was about roster flexibility. The difference is they were never going to use Murphy in the playoffs. Brewer or James may get a few minutes.
Nick - With Indiana's late struggles and potential team friction, do you think Chicago actually has a decent shot of making the ECF if they play Indiana in the second round?
Nick Friedell (2:22 PM)
Absolutely. The Bulls believe they can beat the Pacers. They can't beat the Heat, though. Assuming everyone stays healthy.
Following this season would you rather resign Kirk or D.J. as Rose's potential backup next year?
Nick Friedell (2:25 PM)
I've said all along I think there's a better chance Hinrich returns for the vet's minimum. I think Augustin will get a bigger offer from somebody.
If the season series is tied between the Bulls and Heat why do you not think that they have a shot. You cant count on Wade every single game with his injuries and their bench is not very consistent. With the Bulls undeniable hate for Miami I do believe they can upset. I believe that my bulls will step up with a group scoring effort every game and deny them their 4th finals appearance. There's no other team closest to Miami in the east than the Bulls are...
Nick Friedell (2:30 PM)
The Heat have LeBron James. That's why. He's the best player on the planet. The Bulls don't even have a guy who can consistently create his own shot.
Del Chicago [via mobile]
I'm gonna have to disagree.. Kevin Durant is the best player on the planet

Andy (Elk Grove)
Nick, Is the next tie breaker between Toronto and Bulls record against eastern confernece since season series was 2-2 ?
Nick Friedell (2:39 PM)
Since the season series was split between the two teams, the next tiebreaker is the division winners. If Toronto holds on in the division and they are still tied with the Bulls, the Raptors would get the 3 seed.
Dan Coulter (Naperville)
If Taj eventually becomes a starter next season, would a Boston Celtics version Kevin Garnett be a realistic expectations? See a lot of similarities between the dunks, jumpers, and defense.
Nick Friedell (2:43 PM)
I don't think the ceiling is that high -- but I don't think it's out of the realm that Taj could become an All-Star.
Jeff (Tampa, originally Streamwood) [via mobile]
I'm a little concerned with constantly hearing how the bulls aren't gonna win this year no matter what. I recognize that they're not a sure thing to win, but I would prefer a little more optimism. After all, that's why the league makes them play the games...the bulls have look pretty strong in the second half, and I find it very difficult to say a championship is impossible until they're eliminated. The Blackhawks didn't look so hot last year when down 3-1 to Detroit...that turned out quite well.
Nick Friedell (2:46 PM)
Basketball and hockey aren't the same. You need superstar offensive talent to win in the NBA. The Bulls don't have that.
If the Bulls get Brewer, obviously that means Snell's out of the rotation. How would you assess Snell's season, and does management still view him as a "Foundational" piece?
Nick Friedell (2:50 PM)
I think Brewer is more of an insurance policy more than anything else. I don't think Brewer or Snell will be getting much run in the playoffs if the Bulls do in fact sign Brewer. As for Snell, I think the organization feels he has gotten better this year. He works hard and is respected by teammates. I don't think anybody feels he is a 'foundational' piece right now though.
Steve (Oak park)
Is jimmy butler going to be a bull long term?
Nick Friedell (2:51 PM)
The Bulls would like to think so but it all depends on how much money he is going to want for an extension. If Butler develops a consistent jump shot this summer he is going to make a lot of money.
Nick Friedell (2:58 PM)
I'm out of here everybody. Have a good week. I'll talk to you guys next week from the United Center. If you're at a game this week come over and say hello.
