Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:02 PM)
in the man cave watching NBA TV today. Let's roll
Chip D. (Wichita Falls)
If Jason Hatcher thinks there is no leadership among the players, why didn't he stand up and be the leader? His comments make him sound as if he didn't want the responsibility. What kind of player is that?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:03 PM)
You can't make yourself a leader. You can't try to be a leader. Most leaders have a charisma about them that makes folks want to follow them. It's a hard thing to quantify, but we all know leaders when we see them.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
How do you think that the Texas Rangers will Look this season on Paper?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:04 PM)
They'll be one of the top teams in the AL for sure. But there are 6 terrific teams in the AL. One or two good teams are going to miss the postseason. That's reality.
Bryan (Springdale, AR)
Doesn't it seem as though the Mavericks aren't really concerned with having any go-to scorers outside of Dirk? It seems that instead of favoring matchups, they just kind of rely on who has the hot hand on any given night.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:05 PM)
Jet is the 2nd option. Then it's a matter of who's hot. There's nothing wrong with that. Dirk and Jet get their touches and their shots. Everyone else has to get in where they fit in
PL (SC)
Mr. JJT, what's the possibility of coach garrett allowing coach callahan to call some of the plays? This would allow him to at least to the outside have his hand in all parts of the team.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:05 PM)
NONE
Mark (Cary NC)
Mr. Taylor - big fan of your workI don't think Dez White will ever be a reliable player despite his talent. Why not resign WR Robinson (obvious chemistry with Romo) and trade Dez White to New England for a package of their picks (say a 1 & 3) in this year's draft? Use the picks to re-stock OLine and DLine. If they can protect Romo
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:07 PM)
thanks much. If you think Dez Bryant isn't going to be reliable, then why would the Patriots give you a 1 & 3 for him. They watch the same games you do? I'd like the Cowboys to sign Robinson, but I wouldn't overpay for him - not after the first terrific season of his career.
iseekthelord (Kansas City, MO)
Do you think everyone involved in the draft, recruiting, and scouting at Valley Ranch feel more pressure this year to get it right and fill the holes with guys who will make a lasting impact for the Cowboys? We need to make up for lost time/drafting.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:08 PM)
they feel pressure every year. This season is no different.
Ryan (Keller)
Do the Stars make another move at the deadline. At this point do they buy or sell?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:10 PM)
They need to be sellers. They aren't going to be a factor in the playoffs because they're not good enough - and too many times this season they haven't played with the passion needed to win. This team has several good players, but it's missing something. I like Nieuwendyk. He won't lie to himself. He'll make the right moves.
Peter Florrick (DFW)
Early 2012 Cowboys prediction. We'll be talking about whether the Cowboys should pick Matt Barkley or Landry Jones.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:11 PM)
neither
Peter Florrick (DFW)
Nobody thought the Colts were going to be picking #1 this year either. You never know what will happen in an NFL season, that is the only guarantee.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:14 PM)
I'm not sure what your point is?
raul (rio grande city)
JJT, with a year on the scout team and a complete off season...Do u see Mario Butler being a factor for the 4th corner spot? Also, does it make sense to improve the passrush through the draft and take a Coutney Upshaw or a Melvin Ingram instead of a cornerback with the 14th pick in the 1st Round?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:15 PM)
I have no expectations for Mario Butler. We'll see if he looks better in the off-season minicamps. As for the draft, we have to see what they do in free agency and who starts to rise at the combine this week
Peter Florrick (DFW)
That it is entirely possible next season the Cowboys will finish with a top 5 pick and have the chance to draft Barkley or Jones. My prediction is the Cowboys will be picking in the top 5 next draft.
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:21 PM)
i wouldn't think so based on talent on the roster. Of course, if Romo gets hurt int he first game and doesn't play next year then anything is possible
Alex (Lubbock)
is there any chance the stars will make it to the playoffs this year?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:22 PM)
Nope. I haven't seen any consistency and the injuries have piled up. Morrow is out again. Benn is out for a few games. They can't find any momentum
iseekthelord (Kansas City)
Do you think the Cowboys will keep McBriar? Or look elsewhere?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:23 PM)
good question. It really all depends on his recovery. He seems to think he'll be fine. He's a weapon when he's healthy and worth whatever he gets paid. You saw in the SB what a good punter can do for field position
Neil (College Station)
You buying into the Chris Broussard rumors about the mavs looking to move Roddy B? Can't see us getting more than a low 1st round draft pick for him, can you?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:24 PM)
You might be able to flip him for an equally enigmatic player. The question is whether he can ever find the focus to consistently play at a high level. Doubt remains about that, which is why he might be on the market
Bryan (Springdale, AR)
JJT, if you could be the GM for one owner in the Dallas area, who would it be? Is there a greater owner in sports outside of the Dallas area?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:26 PM)
Nolan Ryan lets his GM do his job without interfering. There are a lot of good owners. You can start with Robert Kraft in New England. Mike Ilitch of the Red Wings.
Rick (TX)
Who will benefit more from a full off season/training camp? Rob Ryan so he can more effectively evaluate the talent available to him? Or his defense to get better acclimated to his scheme?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:28 PM)
probably the players. If they can eliminate the confusion, then they might be a better defense. Rob is a pretty good coordinator. The Cowboys don't have enough talent on defense. Way too many spare parts
Bob (plano)
Its seems that Roddy B is going to be traded. Can we get a cheap impact player for him, or is a draft pick the best we can do?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:28 PM)
I'd say a draft pick. It's roady B, you'e not going to get an impact player for him
Jared (TX)
JJT, do you think that Yu Darvish is going to live up to all the hype he's been getting in the offseason?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:32 PM)
he'd have to go 21-3 with 0.89 ERA to live up to the hype. But I think he'll be a good pitcher this year. He'll win 12-14 games with an ERA in the 3.75 range.
DAVID (DALLAS)
Why not go after Nash? The guy's contract expires
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:33 PM)
Phoenix probably doesn't want anything the Mavs have, and if you trade him why will fans there pay to see the Suns?
Jean-Jacques Taylor (1:33 PM)
thanks for chatting today. It's been fun. we'll do it again next week.
