Tuesday night's game against Sacramento was the first game I saw that the Mavs actually played like the Mavs that we knew from last post-season. With Lamar out do you think that this Mavs team can fix their chemistry along the way to the post-season? With that said with a 100% healthy Mavs team how far could this team go?One more question..... Why do you and Nate only get an hour show and Galloway gets 4? lol
Chuck Cooperstein (11:11 AM)
It certainly seems like they have the chance to do it. Lots of lightheartedness at the end of practice yesterday gives off a nice vibe.
Ayala (Fort Worth, Texas)
Hey Coop! Do you think that David Stern and the League office will take a look in making a new rule for players like Lamar? make it the "Lamar Odom Rule" where players who clearly doesn't want to play here but can't be cut because the Mavs will still have to pay them and then play for another team and he would get their money too. What i'm trying to get here is that maybe a rule should be that players that did what Lamar did voids the contract and can't get paid by the team. Also maybe not let them sign with another team for that season.
Chuck Cooperstein (11:13 AM)
Well, in FantasyLand we could see a rule like this, but when you have a labor agreement, there is no way it would ever happen. Players Association leadership would be looking for work the next day if you had a clause like that in the CBA
Ray (Lewisville)
Forget Lamar Odom for a sec. I'm concerned about Dirks play going into the final stretch. He's made some bad blunders - horrible pass to Marion, when we could have played for the final shot against Portland. Then the turnovers in the final minute against Memphis and 4-14 shoting against Sacramento. If we're to have any chance to make the playoffs, doens't our best player have to pick up his game??
Chuck Cooperstein (11:14 AM)
Agreed, Dirk's play in the last week has not been stellar. But that is a small snapshot. I'm willing to look at the larger picture of how well he's played since he got back into shape, and the historical record of playoff success.
Lyndon (Knox City)
Who is going to get Lamar's 24 minutes? I say Yi and Roddy Buckets agree?
Chuck Cooperstein (11:16 AM)
Roddy will certainly get his share. Yi gave the Mavs a nice lift the other night when they were kind of stuck against the Kings, but the rotation will tighten, not expand, when the playoffs begin so don't look for a huge increase for either one

J (Frisco)
What can we realistically expect from the Mavs in the playoffs, considering the matchups the team could draw in the 1st round? Lakers, Spurs, Clippers?
Chuck Cooperstein (11:19 AM)
The Clippers are clearly the best draw, but that doesn't mean it would be easy. Frankly, given how this team has played for 58 games, I don't think anyone really has an idea if the ceiling is a lot higher for them, or if what you see is what you're going to get. The good thing is that, in the playoffs, you don't need a great winning percentage. Just win 4 out of 7.
Andy (Dallas)
Hey Coop! I'm confused about the Mavs top-20 protected pick. If they keep it this year, do they have to send a future pick instead?
Chuck Cooperstein (11:21 AM)
Yes, that pick ultimately would be sent to the Rockets (Who acquired it in the Derek Fisher trade). It goes there, the first time the pick would not be in the Top 20. This would be a good year to keep the pick. The Draft is slated to be better than its been for the last few years
Mark (SV)
Do you feel Mikhail Prokhorov is acting a little childish about the upcoming off-season. He should understand more than anybody that this is a business?
Chuck Cooperstein (11:22 AM)
Apologize for the tech issues today, folks
Chuck Cooperstein (11:24 AM)
From Mark who asks if Mikhail Prokhorov is acting childish about the upcoming off season? Prokhorov talked about kick boxing w/Mark Cuban for the chnce to get Deron Williams signed. No, He was just having fun. When you're worth $18 BILLION with a B, You're ALWAYS about business
Derek (Texas)
With Lamar gone and this team almost 100% healthy how far in your opinion do you see that Mavs going? What are your picks for this year's post-season?
Chuck Cooperstein (11:27 AM)
Going to have to wrap it here. Sorry for the brevity today. Hopefully, back home next week, we can go a lot longer. Hope you'll stay up late with Brad and me tonight and tomorrow in Oakland and Portland on ESPNDallas 103.3 FM
