The Phillies seemed to be letting their age finally catch up with them, but a 7-3 record in their last 10 games might be giving fans pause. Cliff Lee capped off their excellent run Wednesday with a three-hit shutout, and though it was agains the hapless Marlins, SweetSpot's David Schoenfield is seeing reasons for Philadelphia to be buyers at the trade deadline. They're just below .500, but even a single cold streak from one of the teams ahead of them could make them contenders for a wild-card spot -- or, wonder of wonders, the top spot in the fragile National League East.

• Jodi Saloga: "The Phillies are *still* the oldest team in baseball, and it doesn't do jack-squat to change the manager to make them any younger. Our biggest mistake was signing all these people to such monster contracts."
• Jim Schwandt: "The Phils will be buyers, if only because this is the last stand for this group of players. It's circle the wagons time, & they'll hope for a replay of 30 years ago, when the club rode Schmidt, Carlton, Rose, Morgan, Perez, etc., to one last World Series appearance."
• Thomas McCaslin V: "The Phils are still in the hunt. Partly because the Nats stink, the Braves tend to falter down the stretch, the Mets and Marlins are...... just plain terrible."
• DerrickMorris: "Cole Hammels is better than this, and Lee is a stud. So you have 2 front line guys that can carry you. I think the biggest thing is getting rid of Delmon and giving his AB's, and defensive position to ANYONE else, would be a huge help. Gotta wonder how long Utley can stay healthy (hurt now, right?), and if Ryan can regain SOME type of 2010-2011 form. It's a longshot, but with that extra wild card, I think Phillies could pull it off."
• Scott North: "So, the Phillies should be buyers because they've barely maintained hovering around.500 and Cliff Lee blanked the Marlins? Because Utley, Howard, and Rollins are using their magical Benjamin Button reverse aging potion? Or because we're supposed to think that Roy Halladay SHOULD return this year to his old self again and that Kyle Kendrick is a good #3 guy at best?"

LeBron James drove to the basket and made a layup at the buzzer to give the Heat a 103-102 win over the Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. NBA players immediately took to Twitter to react to James' basket and the Pacers' decision to keep rim-protector Roy Hibbert on the bench for the final play.

Right when Bron saw them take Hibbert out everybody in the arena knew he was going straight to the rim.
