The news shook the NBA on Tuesday night: Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, the former NBA MVP who since has been afflicted by multiple injuries, once again needs surgery, once again for a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Rose is liked throughout the league, meaning fellow players were quick to send their well wishes:

Last week, Georgetown (Texas) High School sophomore Beau Corrales did this to an opponent:
Problem: It was called a foul -- much to the chagrin of the still-amazed crowd.
Violation or not, it was a heck of a play. Especially given that, according to his father, Greg Corrales, Beau is a football-first high school athlete and that he suffers from Type 1 diabetes.
Take a bow, Beau.
Atlanta Braves outfielder B.J. Upton will go by his birth name, Melvin, this season after long being known by his nickname, which is short for Bossman (his father's nickname) Junior.
Naturally, Upton is not the only current athlete/coach who went by a nickname or middle name for a while instead of the birth name. Do you think you know the real names of these current athletes? Scroll to the end of the page to check your answer!
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Eldrick "Tiger" Woods; Wardell Stephen Curry; Jose Alberto "Albert" Pujols; Ralph Dale Earnhardt Jr.; John Matthew Stafford; Glenn "Doc" Rivers; Jacob "Tito" Ortiz; Christopher Jason Witten; Covelli "Coco" Crisp; Hyland DeAndre Jordan.
