Ohm (2:01 PM)
Hey guys! I'm sitting here at Giants so fire away.
Whats good Ohm? Do you think Diehl gets a suspension for his DWI? Side note: I live on the street that he got arrested on. There are always kids all over the sidewalks. He's lucky all he did was hit a few cars. These athletes need to stop thinking they're above the law. End rant
Ohm (2:03 PM)
Hey Ryan... yeah, you are right, thank God nobody got hurt, including Diehl or any kids in the neighborhood. As far as the suspension, I think he will avoid a suspension. Usually first-time offenders are fined but not suspended unless there is really damaging circumstances. I don't think David thought he was above the law. Just a bad judgement mistake.
Chioke Hassan (Baltimore,Md)
Dear OhmDid the Giants ever honor Andy Robestelli last season?
Ohm (2:03 PM)
Chioke, I don't remember to tell you the truth but the Giants are an excellent franchise at honoring their past players.
What are the champs' biggest weaknesses currently?
Ohm (2:04 PM)
Alex, well, there are some question marks on the offensive line, at tight end, backup running back and third wide receiver and some health concerns in the secondary. The return game needs a boost as well. I don't know if these are major weaknesses but they are areas of some concern.
Ohm, riddle me this. I know the Eagles are better as are the Skins and Boys. That said, all I keep reading is how the division will go to either Philly or Dallas due to their D improvements and Offense. That is where this guy gets confused. Did NYG not win the Super Bowl last year??? Did we trade our DLine? No, still the best, TT is back, Prince is getting healthy, the LBs are improved and KP/Trel are in the back. Oh, I think we have a pretty good QB and WR combo too. So, Ohm, where is the love?
Ohm (2:06 PM)
I can't speak for others. I will say that perhaps people think the Giants' schedule is going to play a major role. Also, you might be forgetting that the Giants barely won the NFC East last year in the final game of the year. Perhaps people are taking into account that Super Bowl champs sometimes struggle when defending their title. Personally, I think the NFC East will come down to the Giants-Eagles game at the end of the season.
Bill (Davidson, NC)
Ohm, I live amid a gaggle of MSU supporters (even a dog named Sparty!). I realize that NFL teams have to have a "one-game-at-a-time" approach during a season but during the off-season, do teams take a look at what their division rivals are doing and try to act/react accordingly with personnel moves?
Ohm (2:08 PM)
Bill. Nice! Love that the dog is named Sparty! I can't speak for other teams in the NFC East. But the Giants say they don't look at what other teams are doing in their division. They worry about themselves. Classic example is last year when the Eagles made move after move and the Giants stood pat and people killed Jerry Reese for it. It ended up working out just fine for the Giants.
Who ya got as rookies who make an impact? Obviously Randle, but I am reading good things on Hosley since the pick was made. Your thoughts?
Ohm (2:09 PM)
Hard to get a read on Hosley. I've seen him so little in OTAs and minicamp thus far but in the time I have seen him, he looks fast. Wilson looks very quick, shifty and fast. Good explosion but remember, these are non-contact drills. Randle looked good in practice yesterday, making some nice catches. I would say between those three guys. Robinson is a bit behind after finishing up at school during OTAs.
Chad Franklin (Virginia is for Lovers)
Hey big giants fan here I was wondering if you had any concerns about Martellus Bennet's weight or is that just being blown out of proportion?
Ohm (2:11 PM)
CF, wud up? Maybe a bit. When you look at him in the locker room, it is not like he is obese or got a serious pot belly or anything like that. He is a massive dude. On the field watching him yesterday, he looks really big. Remember, he is 6-6. But he did look almost like a JPP running routes out there. I am sure the Giants will get him down to whatever weight they want him at.
Hey Ohm!, just wanna say your reporting of the Giants is the best!. Anyway who do you think will earn the 3rd WR spot, and who will be the starting RB: Wilson, Ware, or Bradshaw? Thanks
Ohm (2:12 PM)
Thanks David. Much appreciated. For real. I think the third receiver spot is a bit premature to speculate on. But gun to my head right now in June, I'd say Hixon if he stays healthy and Randle pushing him for that spot. Barden has looked good with big body inside and we still need to see more of Jernigan. But as of right now in June, I got Hixon as the front-runner and Randle has looked nice so far. At RB, Bradshaw is the starter.
NYG has been streaky under Coughlin. Despite two SB titles, is he on hot seat if Giants miss playoffs?
Ohm (2:13 PM)
Aaron, love you man, but Coughlin is no longer on the hot seat. Going to take a lot more than that to put him back on the hot seat if ever again.
Al G (Maryland)
who do you expect to be the backup running backs to Bradshaw?
Ohm (2:14 PM)
Al, still very early. Got to see how camp shakes out. I think this is going to be a good competition between Ware, Wilson, Brown and Scott. My guess, it's down to Ware, Wilson and Brown.
Hi Ohm. Greetings from your old 'hood! How close to "Ready for Prime Time" are Mitch Petrus and James Brewer? Seemed like Petrus was very solid last year. Does the team see him as a future starter or as depth? Brewer has always been a longer range project, but how's he shaping up?
Ohm (2:15 PM)
Ron, how is it back in DC? I miss it already. Petrus showed what he can do and be solid but right now, he is there for depth. Brewer probably is still a year or two away from starting. I think they want to develop him for next season perhaps.
Do you think tebow will see any playing time with the Jets this year?
Ohm (2:15 PM)
RJ, my guess... yes. And I am taking that question as, will he play QB and perhaps start eventually...
Bill Belichick (New England)
I know what I did was wrong, I am very good at getting around these thing called "rules."
Ohm (2:16 PM)
Nah, rules are rules. And the Patriots had every right to pick up Jake Ballard. Nothing shady there in my mind.
Nick G (Phoenix)
Reading the Giants tweets I do not get the sense that they are completly over the Super Bowl and focused. What is your take?
Ohm (2:16 PM)
I think once we get to camp, it will be behind them. White House visit was kind of the last time to think about last year and reminisce.
Ohm, my man, questions at back up RB? Are you not sold on the real Mr. Wilson?
Ohm (2:18 PM)
Ricky, nah, where did you get that I am not sold? I just need to see more of the running backs in camp. Also, remember, Wilson is a rookie, has to learn the system and blocking schemes as well in addition to the pro game. Usually takes a little bit for coaching staff to trust a rookie. But Wilson has shown good speed and looks explosive quickness-wise.
Ohm, i dont know why, but for some reason I feel the giants run game will be much improved and Bradshaw, having a huge year seeing as so he stays healthy. For a little guy he has a lot of heart and he is tough and I dont think he gets his credit he is due.
Ohm (2:19 PM)
I think Bradshaw gets credit for sure. He's the toughest guy on the team. But he has to stay healthy and that is hard. Also, offensive line has to block better than it did in the first half of the season last year but remember, the line didn't have much time to gel because of the lockout.
Craig (giant fan in pa)
Where is Rivers playing in OTAs?
Ohm (2:19 PM)
Outside linebacker with second team so far. Perry Fewell says he will try him some at MLB once he gets comfortable to see what he can do.
Tom Brady (Foxborough)
Why on earth would the Giants put Ballard on waivers to save a meaningless roster spot. Didn't they think that Lord Voldemort, I mean Coach B would swoop in and take him ! Please let me know as I get my daily mani/pedi.
Ohm (2:20 PM)
They were hoping that nobody would, clearly. They were wrong.
Whats good Ohm!? Hows our return game shaping up? Is it Hixons job to lose?
Ohm (2:21 PM)
Dutch, Coughlin said today that he wants to use a returner by committee with Hixon, Randle, Jernigan, Hosley and Cruz. Remains to be seen whether they will do that in games but it could be Hixon and Jernigan.
john (new york)
why do you think that everyone always dismisses the giants and underates them? How can they get respect? Also, What do you think about this unwritten rule buisiness?
Ohm (2:22 PM)
I don't think people sleep on the Giants or diss them as much as people tend to think as much as there is hype around the Eagles and Cowboys all the time. And the Packers are really good. As for the unwritten rule thing... look, the rules are the rules. And Ballard was placed on waivers. Pats claimed him. They are within their rights to do so.
Who rushes for more yards in '12, Vick or RG3? Higher QB rating?
Ohm (2:23 PM)
Hmm... really tough one. I am going to say Vick higher QB rating. But for rushing yards... I'll go with RGIII.
Hi Ohm, Everyone's painting Reese as genius since they won the Superbowl again. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of the team, but one more loss at 9-7 and they're not even in it. And the Ballard thing kills me. Is he really that smart ?
Ohm (2:24 PM)
Reed, two Super Bowl rings on his resume. Not too shabby if you ask me.
john (new york)
do you think the g-men can go 12-4 like 2008( i actually have them at 11-5)?
Ohm (2:24 PM)
John, I was asked to predict the schedule when it came out in April. I had them winning 10 games. Was tempted to say nine. Their schedule is really tough. I'll stick with 10 wins.
ohm do u think the giants should after braylon edwards he still out there i think we, need another WR.
Ohm (2:25 PM)
Trey, nah. They want to see what they got in Barden, Jernigan, Hixon, Randle.
Al G (Maryland)
Are the Giants confident that Prince is going to be full strength for the season? How is Terrell Thomas progressing? Who do they expect to be the starter across from Webster?
Ohm (2:26 PM)
Coughlin said Prince is progressing well so far. Thomas has been taking it slow and being cautious with his knee, as he should be. Thomas is projected starter.
Ohm (2:26 PM)
Alright guys, thanks for the questions. Got to get back to writing before practice starts!
