Vote: Mariners and Braves reload


Nationals Talk about some last-minute Christmas shopping.

The Braves have been about pitching for as long as they've been winning under Bobby Cox. But since restoring John Smoltz to the rotation isn't enough to stop Leo Mazzone from rocking himself death next year, the Braves acquired a potential co-ace in Tim Hudson on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Mariners used to be all about offense. Then they tore down the Kingdome, opened spacious Safeco Field and traded away Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez. But ownership is trying to recapture a little of that run-scoring history, adding free-agent sluggers Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre for a paltry $115 million in a 24-hour period.
