Vote: Is this finally San Diego's year?

Despite a World Series appearance in 1984, when they were crushed by the Tigers, and the presence of stars like Tony Gwynn, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield and Trevor Hoffman, the San Diego Padres haven't exactly been a beacon of baseball success.

Often average, and occasionally awful, the Padres of old are fading into the shadows, as this year's team pushes for an NL West crown. With 23-year-old pitching sensation Jake Peavy leading the way, the Padres have soared to the top of the NL West with an impressive record in May. But will it last? How much does Mark Loretta's injury hurt the cause? And just how good is Peavy?
