The Independents aren't really a conference, of course, but Notre Dame and new head coach Charlie Weis (right) are the biggest name among the four independent teams. Weis will lean heavily on quarterback Brady Quinn in the quest for Notre Dame's first 10-win season since 2002, and there is plenty of other talent on the offense.
North Texas has dominated the Sun Belt since it's inception and has maybe the best running back duo in the nation in Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas. As for the Mountain West, Utah won the league and crashed the BCS party last season, but there is hope for the rest of the conference as Utes head coach Urban Meyer moved on to Florida and quarterback Alex Smith was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.
