Kirk Gibson's heroics in 1988 aside, teams seeking playoff glory would rather enter postseason play with all key parts functioning at full steam. But after a 162-game regular season, that's often a tall order.

Most of the places in this year's postseason field are still up for grabs with less than two weeks to play, and while those berths will be decided on the field, how much of an impact will who is on the field have on the results?
