Vote: Vitalis Sun Bowl

Like the sweet smell of pine trees, the good cheer of friends and family and the horrendous parking at the shopping mall, college football bowl games are a staple of the holiday season. And while the four BCS games control the championshp picture, the other bowls often offer up the season's most memorable moments and fantastic finishes.

When: Dec. 30, 2 p.m. ET

The Game: Dating back to 1935, the Sun Bowl yields only to the Rose Bowl among the elder statesmen of the bowl season. The first game featuring two college teams was in 1936, when New Mexico State played Hardin-Simmons. The game is played at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas and features representatives from the Big 10 and Pac-10 for the seventh consecutive year.

The Teams: Northwestern (7-4, 5-3) finished in a tie for third place in the Big Ten. UCLA (9-2, 6-2) finished third in the Pac-10.
