Vote: Independence Bowl

Like the sweet smell of pine trees, the good cheer of friends and family and the horrendous parking at the shopping mall, college football bowl games are a staple of the holiday season. And while the four BCS games control the championshp picture, the other bowls often offer up the season's most memorable moments and fantastic finishes.

When: Dec. 30, 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

The Game: Dating back to 1976, partially the reason for the bowl's name, the Independence Bowl is played in Shreveport, La. and this year features teams from the Big 12 and SEC. An SEC team has appeared in the game in 10 of the last 11 years.

The Teams: Missouri (6-5, 4-4) finished tied for second in the Big 12 North and shared the fifth-best record in the conference. South Carolina (7-4, 5-3) finished tied for second in the SEC East and shared the fifth-best record in the conference.
