Vote: AT&T Cotton Bowl

Like the sweet smell of pine trees, the good cheer of friends and family and the horrendous parking at the shopping mall, college football bowl games are a staple of the holiday season. And while the four BCS games control the championshp picture, the other bowls often offer up the season's most memorable moments and fantastic finishes.

When: Jan. 2, 11 a.m. ET

The Game: One of the oldest traditions in college football, the Cotton Bowl dates back to 1937, when Sammy Baugh played in the first game. Always a showcase for the Big 12, as it was for the Southwestern Conference before that, the Cotton Bowl also this year will feature a representative from the SEC, as it has for the last four seasons.

The Teams: Texas Tech (9-2, 6-2) tied for second in the Big 12 South and shared the second-best record in the conference. Alabama (9-2, 6-2) finished third in the SEC West and had the fourth-best record in the conference.
