Vote: Toyota Gator Bowl

Like the sweet smell of pine trees, the good cheer of friends and family and the horrendous parking at the shopping mall, college football bowl games are a staple of the holiday season. And while the four BCS games control the championshp picture, the other bowls often offer up the season's most memorable moments and fantastic finishes.

When: Jan. 2, 12:30 p.m. ET

The Game: First played in 1946, when Wake Forest defeated South Carolina in front of just over 7,000 fans, the Gator Bowl is now a regular resident of New Year's Day (or Jan. 2, this year). Still played in Jacksonville, Fla., it is now contested at ALLTEL Stadium. For the third year in a row, it will feature teams from the Big East and ACC.

The Teams: Louisville (9-2, 5-2) finished second in the Big East. Virginia Tech (10-2, 7-2) won the ACC Coastal and had the best regular-season record in the conference but lost the conference title game against Florida State.
